"So what exactly is the plan? I mean, I know we haven't exactly had the most moral correct people work with ya but by all accounts…Juri Han is a fucking psychopath."
Peter and Wrench were currently riding around in Wrench's news van. When they were still part of the DedSec group in San Francisco, they had stole one of the vans as a way to sneak into a tv station to broadcast some dirty laundry they had found on behalf of Blume. After all was said and done, Wrench thought it would've been a waste to get rid of the van, opting to take out the camera equipment and instead make it into a sort of mobile weapons van for when the need arises. And with time spent with Forge, it basically guaranteed that it was going nowhere anytime soon.
"We can definitely agree on that, but she's about the only connection we have to S.I.N and Shadaloo. That and we're not exactly against armed soldiers or terrorists this time."
"Right, right…prize fighters and the like. Fighting tournament for all the glory." Wrench said. He looked at his phone while they stopped at a red light as his mask lit up. "Got some good news."
"Which is?"
"Was able to get the mystery person you wanted to keep a secret to meet us at your old neighborhood. And because you know I'm not letting it go…"
"Still not telling you Wrench." Wrench sighed in disappointment.
"Don't get why it's such a big deal."
"You'll find out soon enough."
S.I.N Base, Location unknown.
"Make sure the girl is prepared by the time she comes to." A faint voice was heard from an earshot of Rogue. She remembered being taken hostage at the mansion, but everything in between got blurry. She slowly awoke to find herself in a cell and in a room full of lab equipment and what looked like testing pods with people in them. She looked towards the origin of the voice to see that it was the same man who kidnapped her in the mansion, M. Bison.
"Well now..." Bison looked over to the fully awoke Rogue. "Good to see you're awake."
"Where am I?" Rogue asked in a panic.
"I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. Seeing as you'll soon be part of my new line of doll fighters."
"Doll fighters?"
"The best and strongest pawns to my whims. Beneath my personal best." Rogue chuckled a bit.
"Sorry to tell ya, doll-face. But I'm not bouta sit here and listen to your spiel bout being your personal toy soldier. My friends will get me out of here." Rogue stated. Bison just laughed in her face as he headed for the exit.
"Your friends are nothing more than dead bodies in a burnt out Mansion. Trust me, you'll come around whether you want to or not." Bison then exited the room, along with the scientist he was talking to earlier. Rogue sighed as she took a step back from the cell door and turned around to see a woman dressed up in Egyptian looking clothing, holding a orb close to her chest. She turned her attention away from her orb to the southern goth in front of her.
"Uhh…hi?" Rogue said. The girl got up in excitement as she walked circles around Rogue.
"No way! You're actually real, and alive?!? Ohhh, master is going to be so happy when she finds out."
"Master? Who are you talking about?" Rogue started to think. There was only a handful of people she knew could be masters that this girl was talking about. Seeing as Professor Xavier never mentioned knowing an Egyptian looking girl and Peter never talking about the cryptic messages left by Madam Web, she only had one person in mind.
"Did Irene Addler send you?"
"No no no, although my master does know about her and her actions of trying to shield you from the world to keep people safe from your mutant abilities."
Rogue just stared at her in disbelief. There's no way she knew Destiny and about her mutant powers. "You knowing all this info about me is kinda creepy."
The girl looked at Rogue confused, then shook her head. "Oh where are my manners? I forget that people can't read my mind. My name is Menat." She stuck her hand out for a handshake. Rogue obliged (while making sure her gloves were still on) and reached her hand out as well.
"Rogue. Is it possible for you to get us both out of here?"
"Oh yes, I can use my orb to get us both out of here…" Rogue picked up on the awkward silence Menat left after her statement.
"But?"
"My master warned me that if I interfere before certain things are put into motion, your fate could end up much, much worse." Rogue couldn't believe this. She had someone who could free her and she was instead telling her how she was destined to stay in a cell while god knows what's happening to Peter and everyone else. She sighed in frustration.
"How long does your "master" say I need to stay here for?"
Menat chuckled a bit. "Silly, I can't tell you your future. That's how it gets changed, when you know it and expect a certain outcome, something else will happen."
"Ok…maybe you actually have a point there." Rogue fully gave up and just laid down on the bed in her cell. "Guess I'll wait for "fate" to play out and rescue me. Right Menat?" Rogue looked up to see that the Egyptian girl was fully gone, as well as her orb she was holding. She threw herself back in a fit of rage.
"I hate her."
Queens, New York.
"Stay in the van Wrench. This might get awkward."
Wrench looked up in confusion. "I thought I already made the overt sexual tension joke in France."
"And last Christmas, and when I joined DedSec after Marcus, and last month. And no, we're not fucking."
"Worth the try. But in all seriousness, who's this mysterious person we're...er, you're meeting?"
Peter closed the passenger door to the van. "Someone who I thought I would never have to rely on after the first failed raid to rescue the X-Men." Peter then walked away from Wrench's van to his old block. The memories all hit him at once. The time he walked Mary Jane back home, when Harry's limo driver dropped him off to try and impress everyone in the neighborhood (which didn't work), to when Aunt May took in Rogue when she originally thought the X-Men were trying to kill her in the cemetery a few blocks down.
"Reminiscing, Spider-Man?" A female voice spoke from behind Peter. He turned around to see a familiar face, or one of several familiar faces.
"Still rocking the ol' principal look Mystique? Sorry, Ms. Darkhölme." The figure Mystique took to meet with Peter was her old look when she was the principal of Bayville High (I'm writing this with the idea of how Mystique looks in Wolverine and the X-Men, but how she looked as the principal in X-men evolution, if that makes sense.)
Mystique hadn't seen Peter since Stryker had kidnapped all the X-Men, and already she was wishing it was longer to not see him. "Is there a reason why you called me out here, or was it just to make fun of me for the hell of it?"
"I'm gonna keep it nice and short, the mansion got attacked and-" Mystique immediately turned around and started to walk off. "Where are you going?"
"You said the mansion got attacked. I'm not an X-Men. It doesn't concern me."
"Rogue got kidnapped." Mystique immediately stopped in her tracks. She balled her fists as she turned around and punched Peter in the jaw. She immediately followed up by grabbing his jacket and pulling him close to her face.
"You PROMISED me you'd keep her safe."
"We got attacked by an organization called Shadaloo. Their leader, Bison, is either a mutant or some kind of meta human. He caught me off-guard and took Rogue. I'm trying to find out where, but I need close help and the X-Men are out on a mission and Xavier is recovering." Mystique let go of Peter's jacket while he rubbed his jaw.
"He's hurt badly?"
"Bison roughed him up before we got there, but it's nothing serious." He saw Mystique look over in the distance and then back to him.
"You know Rogue wants nothing to do with me…"
"Besides the X-men, you're the only family she's got, whether she likes it or not." He could tell she was still uncertain. "You remember, back when Stryker first raided the mansion and 2 days later I was crawling to your brotherhoods' rundown house?"
"Yes. You were barely clinging onto life. What's your point?"
"I lost everything that day. My friends, my family, my powers, my…Aunt. I could've just accepted that nothing better was going to happen, that I was screwed and the X-Men and mutant kind were fucked. Yet I still kept trying to find them. I found Stryker, took down his terrorist group, freed the X-Men...but I still don't have my Aunt with me. She's gone for good. She was like a mother to me. You're still alive, Rogue is alive. Even if you don't have the perfect relationship with her that you might want, you really want to leave everything up to chance instead of making sure she's alright and safe with your own two eyes?" Mystique stared at Peter for a while, trying to see if she could possibly catch his bluff on anything. Once it was obvious that he wasn't, she extended her hand out.
"Once we save Rogue, I'm going my own way. Deal?" Peter reached his hand out and shook with Mystique.
"Deal."
2 Days Later.
"So you got a way of contacting this Juri character?" Mystique asked. The three of them, being Peter, Wrench and Mystique were driving through Egypt while Peter tried figuring out a way to contact Juri as the only way he could was the phone she gave him, and Wrench made sure that phone wasn't coming back from Mexico.
"Well I can always track down her location from her eye, although if I can do that it's probably a gateway for S.I.N to do the same."
"You rather we fight off S.I.N with her or wander around and die from the heat?" Peter added.
"Is one really better than other?" Mystique asked
"Well…no" Peter said. "But if we have Juri on our side, we at least have somewhat insider knowledge of S.I.N."
"Somewhat, he says." Mystique added with a hint of snark in her voice. Peter just chuckled it off until they got to the location that Wrench had found.
They all got out of the car. "According to both the alarming rate of calls to the police, and GPS tracking, Juri's got to be here somewhere." Currently, there were sirens going off in the distance, but they sounded far enough away to where they still had time to find Juri and get out of trouble.
"You two stay here, I'm going for a higher view." Peter said. Before either Mystique or Wrench could refute, he pulled his mask over his head and shot a web line up to the tallest building. Everything seemed normal. No damaged infrastructure, no dead bodies, nothing of regular concern. He looked over again to see if he missed something.
"This can't be right. Wrench said there was phone calls to the police. Juri's gotta be around here somewhere." Peter thought to himself. He squinted at a nearby alley and saw a group of guys on the ground. Before he could get off the roof to get a closer look, his spider senses flared up. He swiftly backflipped from the edge of the roof to the middle of it. He looked up to see Juri, with a devilish smile on her face.
"Wow, and to think that you were some sort of slow poke." Juri laughed. "Guess even I can be wrong sometimes."
"You mind explaining why you're trying to attack me Juri?" Peter asked. Juri cupped her ands together and started to walk in a circle around Peter.
"Well let's see…I never got my fight from the yacht, you're one minute helping me, the next abandoning me, and now you're trying to crawl back for my help, am I right?"
"Look Juri-"
"Ahh ahh ahh." Juri said, cutting Peter off. "I think I've been more than nice towards you. Hell, the fact that I almost killed you on the yacht should've been enough to get through your head not to fuck around with my requests Petey."
"Juri, I don't care!" Peter yelled. He saw he must've gotten through to her or hit a nerve as she stopped walking around him. "You've already made the threats towards me and my friends and tried killing me before. I need your help now, no bullshit involved. Shadaloo and S.I.N both have leaders that want to kill each other and innocents will get hurt. There will be war."
Juri busted out laughing. "Oh god, do you hear yourself? Innocents? War? Sorry to break it to you Spidey but there's no such thing as anyone being innocent. And even if there was, who are you to be the one who determines who is and isn't? You and all those other costume wearing "heroes" risk your lives for people who can't even protect themselves." Juri stared down at the ground as if she was lost in thought.
"Regardless of what you and I view as right or wrong, you know that a war on that magnitude is dangerous, too dangerous for innoc-every day people who just want to go back to their families after a long day." Juri breathed in deeply as Peter continued. "Juri, I need your help."
"Just shut it Pete!" Juri yelled. She chuckled as she looked back up at Peter. "Only way I'm helping you or your merry band of hero losers is if you beat me in a fight."
Peter sighed "We don't have time for you to try to fight me. We can-" Peter's sense started ringing again as he saw Juri try to kick him in the face. He leaned back as far as he turned it into a role in order to put some distance between them.
"And what? Give me a fair fight after? Sorry, not that type of girl." Juri smiled as she got into her fighting stance. "You want my help, you better hope I don't kill you." Peter fixed himself into a workable fight position as to work with his powers.
"Well, shit."
