Renji woke up to the feel of another in his arms. He opened his eyes, looked over and smiled at the sight of his beloved captain looking back at him. "Good morning, beautiful." Renji greeted his captain.
"Good morning to you." Byakuya greeted back. Renji leaned in and gave his love a kiss on the lips. He pulled Byakuya as close as he could and deepened the kiss. Renji climbed on top of Byakuya and grabbed his thigh bringing it up over his hip. Byakuya was starting to get really turned on, so he knew he had to stop before this went too far. He pushed Renji away and let out a sigh. "Renji…"
"I'm sorry, I got caught up in the moment. I will try to have more restraint next time, I promise." Renji apologized, while getting off of him and sitting on his knees. Byakuya sat up and looked at his red-haired lieutenant.
"Renji, it's alright. Trust me, I want to, I just…" Byakuya trailed off and looked away. He felt the arms of his beloved wrap around him.
"I know. It's because of me. I hurt you and I have to earn your trust again. I'm sorry for hurting you and I will spend the rest of my life trying to make it up to you, like I've said before. I don't care if we don't have sex for years, I'm just happy being with you again and being able to hold you in my arms." Renji explained while holding Byakuya tight. The dark-haired captain sighed again and held Renji in return.
"I do trust you, Renji. I just want to wait and not jump into it." Byakuya explained. He leaned back and looked up at his beloved lieutenant and smiled. "I love you, Renji, nothing is going to change that. Just be patient, okay?" Renji only nodded and his captain planted a small kiss on his lips before getting up. The redhead followed him and they made their way down to eat breakfast.
While sitting at the table and eating, the head of the Kuchiki clan came in. He cleared his throat and made the two men look at him. "Good morning, grandfather." The old man nodded toward him and shot daggers at Renji with his eyes.
"Byakuya, may I speak to you, alone?" He asked Byakuya. The 6th captain only nodded and followed him out. Renji sat there, imagining what they were talking about. He heard muffled stern voices, but couldn't make out the words.
"Byakuya, I don't think that man should be welcomed here anymore. He betrayed the Soul Society and you. He has to go." The old man said sternly.
"Grandfather, I know what he did. He did it to protect me. If he hadn't, I would've died. You should be thanking him, not making him leave."
"Do you really believe he did it for you? He could've fought them to save you, but instead he joined them."
"Yes, he did do it to save me. Neither of us could fight them. They had a device that drained our reiatsu and we didn't have our Zanpakutos, so there was no way we could've fought. He saved my life and I owe him everything. Besides, I still love him, no matter what happened." The old man hung his head and shook it.
"You are naïve once again, Byakuya. Even love can't save you from everything. Remember Hisana?"
"I told you not to mention her. She is part of the past and she would not want me to be with someone I don't love. If you can't accept that Renji is still apart of my life then I can't help that, but you will respect him and treat him as my partner."
"What about an heir? Are you honestly going to become pregnant again, after everything you went through? You lost your child in…"
"I know what happened and maybe one day we will, but at this moment I am not ready to have a child or become pregnant again."
"You are not getting any younger and what happened shows that you are not invincible. An heir is essential for the Kuchiki clan."
"And an heir is what you shall have, just not at this moment." Byakuya said before turning to leave. "I will see you at the next clan meeting, goodbye grandfather." He walked out the door and saw that Renji wasn't at the table. He heard laughter outside and went to go look. He saw Renji, Ikakku, and Yumichika talking and laughing at something. He walked over to them with a blank expression on his face.
Renji heard footsteps coming from behind him and turned to see who it was. "Byakuya!" The redhead picked him up and gave him a kiss on the lips. He knew Byakuya wasn't too keen on kissing in front of people, but he didn't care at that moment. He put Byakuya down and lead him over to the other two men. Byakuya looked down and saw a little bump on the usually slender Yumichikas' belly. Renji noticed Byakuya looking and spoke up. "Yeah, he's pregnant now. Weird, right?" Byakuya nodded.
"Yeah, we decided after what happened to Ikakku that what we do is dangerous and we aren't getting any younger. Besides, I've always wanted a baby. It took some time to get Ikakku on board with he idea, but I'm happy that he finally said yes." Ikakku was blushing at Yumichika talking about it, but he knew it made his lover happy. Byakuya gave them a gentle smile, something they wasn't use to, and nodded.
"Congratulations you two." Byakuya looked down and started walking away, but stopped when Renji grabbed his hand. Renji came around to look him in the eyes and saw sadness in them.
"What's wrong, babe?" Renji asked, clueless.
"It's nothing, just something my grandfather said." Renji wrapped his arms around the smaller man.
"Byakuya, I know you better than that. You usually don't let what your grandfather says get to you. This is something deeper, so spit it out. What's wrong?" Renji said with a stern voice. He leaned back, holding onto the mans shoulders, and looked him in the eye. Byakuya only looked away and stayed quiet. Renji used his thumb and pointer finger to bring Byakuyas face up to look at him. "Babe, please. You can tell me anything." The dark-haired captain sighed in defeat.
"I thought I wasn't ready for another child, but seeing your friend being pregnant, makes me want one. My grandfather and your friend said the same thing, that we aren't getting any younger. But… losing our last one it…"
"I know…" Renji said, while wrapping his arms around his beloved captain. "I'll give you anything you want, you know that. If you want another baby, then I will give you one. If you don't then we can wait, until you're ready. I know losing our baby was hard on me, I couldn't imagine how I made you feel. Just to warn you though, once you are pregnant again, I will be like a hawk and watch your every move." That last part made Byakuya smile, knowing Renji probably would.
"Just let me think about it for a few days and I'll let you know." Renji nodded and gave Byakuya a kiss. "Do you want another one?" Byakuya asked.
"To be honest, I hadn't thought about it until now. But it would be nice to have a mini me running around." He said smiling.
"Yeah, because that's what the Soul Society needs." Byakuya said. Renji laughed at that and kissed his forehead.
"So, what do you want to do today?" Renji asked his captain.
"I'm not sure." The captain said.
"Come on." Renji said after thinking for a few minutes. Byakuya took Renjis' hand and they walked down to the 12th division.
"Renji, where are we going?" Byakuya asked.
"I was wanting to ask Kurotsuchi something." Renji stated. Byakuya let go of his hand and looked at him.
"What was you wanting to ask him?" Byakuya asked.
"Trust me, Byakuya. It's nothing bad." Byakuya took his hand again and followed the redhead. They made it to the 12th division and walked in. They saw Kurotsuchi barking orders at his lieutenant. He looked over and smiled creepily at the two men.
"Captain Byakuya, Lieutenant Abarai. To what do I owe the pleasure?" He asked them.
"I was wondering, that device you planted inside me. How long does it last? How long do we have to conceive a baby?" Renji asked. Byakuya looked at him.
"Well, I'm not sure, it's still an experiment and usually whenever it's implanted the carrier don't take more than 24 hours to have relations." Renji looked at Byakuya and ran the back of his hand along the dark-haired captains cheek.
"It's your choice, he can implant it and whenever you're ready he can do some tests to see if it will still work then we can go for it or he can implant another one. Whatever you want I'm okay with." Renji told Byakuya. Byakuya looked away thinking about what he really wanted. Should I do this? Do I really want another baby? Will I have another miscarriage? Of course I want another child. I want to share every aspect of my life with him, but are we ready. I told him I wanted to wait before we could do anything like this, but here we are again. I want a baby with him, I want him to be my husband, but is this moving too fast again? Byakuya kept going back and forth in his mind, but after a few minutes of contemplating, he sighed and turned toward Kurotsuchi.
"Go ahead with the procedure, please." Renji smiled to himself and Kurotsuchi did the procedure.
On the way back home, Renji stopped in his tracks and looked at his captain. "So I was wondering…"
"No we are not having sex tonight." Byakuya interrupted.
"No! That's not what I was going to ask…"
"Then what was you going to ask?" Byakuya interrupted again. Renji opened his mouth to speak, but closed it as soon as it opened. Byakuya sighed and started walking away. Renji grabbed his hand and he turned around, looking at the redhead annoyed. "What, Renji?"
"Okay maybe I was going to ask that, but it's not the only thing. I… well I was wondering why?"
"Why what?" He asked, still annoyed.
"Why did you say yes, when you are still contemplating whether or not you wanted to have a baby with me…" Renji trailed off, looking down at the ground. Byakuya sighed and stepped closer to Renji. He put his hand on the redheads cheek, making him turn his head toward the smaller man.
"Renji, I do want to have a baby with you. I want everything with you, it's just… I…" Renji interrupted his beloved captain with a kiss on his lips. He rested his forehead against the smaller mans and smiled, keeping his eyes closed.
"Then why are you making me work so hard to give you everything you want with me?" Renji asked.
"I don't know. I love you and I still want a life with you, I just can't bring myself to do it without fighting myself." Byakuya said quietly.
"You still don't trust me. And you're still hurt from what I did to you." Renji said before sighing and walking away in the other direction, away from the Kuchiki manor.
"Renji I…" He started to say, but Renji kept walking. He chased after him and stopped in front of the redhead. "Renji I'm…"
"Don't Byakuya." Renji said holding a hand up. "I know I hurt you, a lot. I should be the one that's sorry and I am. I just wish I could change everything and go back to how happy we were, no worries and no…"
"We still can, Renji…" Byakuya started to say.
"How, Byakuya? Renji interrupted.
"I don't know, but I believe we can. I love you and I want to share everything in my life with you. I want us to go back to the way things were too and…"
"Then stop thinking about it and just do it. Give me the benefit of a doubt and give in to your desires." Renji stated to his captain while grabbing his hands into his own. Byakuya sighed and looked away.
"Renji, I would love to do that, but…"
"But what? Before anything happened between us, you never second guessed anything, you just went for it. You were the most hard-ass captain in the Sereitei. I know I've put you through a lot, but you can't hide from the truth, which is, we love each other and I'm not going anywhere ever again." Renji explained. Byakuya thought about it, long and hard and looked up at his red-haired lieutenant. He smiled up at the taller man and put his hand gently on the mans cheek.
"Fine, but if you ever do anything like this to me again, I will kill you myself." Renji smiled from ear to ear and grabbed the dark-haired mans hand.
"Sounds like a good deal to me." Renji picked up the dark-haired man by his waist and spun him around laughing. After putting him down, the redhead looked in those dark eyes he loved so much and kissed the love of his life. "Come on!" Renji said leading Byakuya into the building that Byakuya realized was the 6th division office. Byakuya didn't realize that Renji had stopped in front of their office until now. Renji lead them to the lieutenants quarters and shut the door once they were inside.
Renji pushed Byakuya against the wall and started kissing the dark-haired man with such passion like their first time in this room. The redhead looked at his captain with so much love and lust in his eyes Byakuya couldn't stand to say no. "I love you, Byakuya." He said to the man before kissing him again. The taller man lifted the captain onto his hips, putting the mans legs around him. Renjis' lips made their way down to his neck, kissing and nipping at Byakuyas sweet spot on his neck, earning a moan from the dark-haired man. Byakuya closed his eyes and saw Renji and that woman, and pushed him away.
"Renji, wait." Renji looked at his beloved captain with confusion. Byakuya got down off the wall and started walking away. "I can't, I'm sorry." Is all he said before walking out the door.
