Chapter 8
The group made their way back to Auradon Prep and visited Fairy Godmother. They explained to her what had happened and gave her the seashell necklace. She told them that she would hold on to the necklace, but as the curse was broken and Uma was still on the Isle, there wasn't much she could do. The only thing was to keep an eye out for Gil and Harry, hopefully they just went back to the Isle, but that was doubtful.
Adam and Belle decided to keep Violet close to them at all times possible, meaning she couldn't stay at Auradon Prep after classes, unless she was with someone else who they trusted, meaning she couldn't hang out with her friends. They had said it was because they wanted to make sure she was recovering from her little adventure okay, but Violet knew that wasn't entirely true. It's been a few months now, and Violet was finding it suffocating.
It was a lazy Saturday afternoon once, when Lumiere came in with the mail. He handed Belle and Adam the usual envelopes, but then surprisingly, walked over to Violet, who was reading.
"You received something, Your Highness." He said. Violet took the envelope from his hand, then he walked away. Violet scanned the envelope. It was indeed addressed to her, but it had no return address. Curious, she opened it, finding a letter inside.
Dear Princess Violet,
When I saw you for the first time as a newborn baby, I never would have thought that one day you would be adopted by the royal family and be a princess of Auradon. You probably have a lot of questions now. How could I possibly know about your past?
I can't say who I am or where I am from, hence the lack of return address. I would really like to meet you though. If you are up to it, we can play a game. You can go on an adventure to try and find me. I will leave you clues to follow.
Find me and learn about your history. I'll be waiting.
Mysterious Person
P.S. Your first clue is: Travel to a land of old.
Violet was very confused. This was all so sudden, a person who knew her as an infant, no one knew her then, at least that she knew of. Violet put the letter back in the envelope. "What is it, Violet?" Belle asked.
"It's nothing, just some junk mail." Violet lied. She went on reading for a little while, as to not give away that the letter was of importance. Later she went to her bedroom and texted the group chat of her friends.
We need to meet. An adventure has come up. -Violet
She waited a few minutes for them to respond.
An adventure? Cool! -Marty
EHHH! I'm so excited! -Dizzy
I'm in. See you on Monday. -Alec
Violet smiled. She was ready to discover who she really was.
Violet managed to convince her parents that it was finally time to let her spend time with her friends after school. Nothing could possibly go wrong. They met in her dorm room.
"So what's going on?" Alec questioned.
"I got a letter on Saturday." Violet explained. "From an unknown person who claims to know my past."
"Huh? I don't understand." Marty said.
"I don't really get it either, but that's what it says. They want to send me on some sort of scavenger hunt in order to find them, something about they can't give away their location." Violet went on.
"This is strange." Alec stated, not liking what was going on.
"Are you going to do it? The scavenger hunt thing?" Dizzy inquired.
Violet smiled. "I was thinking about it, but I need some help, I can't do it alone."
"You want us to go along." Marty responded. Violet nodded.
Marty and Dizzy started to get excited about the prospect of going on this adventure, wherever it may take them. "Wait, wait, wait. Hold on for a moment. Going on this trip and everything is all fine and dandy, but what about our families? You don't know how long this is going to take you, and there is no way they'll all just let us go running around the kingdom. We don't know where this will lead us." Alec said.
"So you don't think we should do it?" Dizzy asked.
"No, I'm saying that I should stay here and do all of the background work that will be needed." Alec answered.
Violet thought about it for a minute. It made sense, and Alec was really good at that kind of stuff. "I agree." She admitted. "Let's get started though, I want to know what this is all about."
They sat and planned out what was going to do. After about an hour the group had talked through almost everything they had to.
"No offence to any of you, but I think you all need some muscle." Alec recommended. The three looked at them playfully offended.
"Who do you suggest?" Violet questioned.
They thought about it, then Dizzy spoke up. "I know, come with me." Dizzy led them to another dorm room. She knocked on the door and after a few seconds the person opened up.
"Hello, what do you want?" Ana greeted.
Dizzy sighed. "We want you to help us on an adventure."
"Why would I help you all?" Ana inquired.
Dizzy was about to say something when Violet stepped forward. "You see, you are the reason why I had been held hostage by Uma and her pirates, and you seem to have gotten off with it scot-free, but I can make that change. Unless you would like that you will do as we ask." Violet did not like Ana, especially after what had happened, but Violet did understand why they needed her, so she will give her a second chance.
Ana thought about it. She liked it in Auradon, and definitely didn't want to go back to the Isle of the Lost. "Fine."
They went back to Violet's dorm room to figure out some more things. "We need to figure out what to do with technology." Alec told them.
"What do you mean?" Violet asked.
"Why can't we use the devices that we already have?" Dizzy questioned.
"Because people can track your location with your devices using cell towers." Alec explained. He took out a box full of old devices. "You all need new phones with new SIM cards." He scrambled through the box looking for what he needed. "That way you can keep in contact with me, use the internet or contact the authorities if need be."
It took him only an hour to set up the four phones. "There we go" He handed out the phones. "I've also made us all codenames to refer to each other by, that way if anyone sees my computer screen they won't know it's you guys, or if someone manages to intercept our communication."
They all looked at the list Alec had made, each codename was the name of a greco-roman god or goddess.
Violet- Venus
Dizzy- Demeter
Ana- Aphrodite
Marty- Mars
Alec- Atlas
"This is cool!" Marty exclaimed.
"Yeah, now we need to figure out the first clue I was given." Violet said. She read it to them, then they discussed it.
"Place of old, place of old." Dizzy repeated.
"Isn't there some, like medieval place in Auradon?" Ana inquired. "That seems pretty old."
"Camelot." Violet replied.
"Is that where your mystery person is from, or is that just where the next clue is?" Marty asked.
"I don't know, but we need to get to Camelot." Violet told them.
"But how are we going to get there?" Dizzy questioned.
"We could drive." Ana suggested, looking at Violet. "You know we can."
"That's not legal, we have to figure out another way." Violet said.
"Well, neither is running around the country with no adults knowing." Alec pointed out.
"What about magic, we can teleport around, I could do it." Marty proposed.
They all thought about it for a moment. "Okay, since it's the only thing we've got." Violet agreed.
"Alright, I think that's everything, you guys go and get packed with anything you'll need, I have to do some work to get us all out of school for at least a few days." Alec said.
Violet nodded and her friends left, then she started packing. She was excited for this adventure, to spend time with her friends and to finally learn something about her past. This was going to be interesting.
