Rose POV-
Shit! We lost Amelia, how did we lose Amelia?
We lost visual for a split second and she's gone. Where could she have possibly have gone? It doesn't make any sense. We spent a few more minutes trying to work out where she went but we failed. I just hope that someone was successful.
"Hello was anyone successful in their mission?" I asked through the radio. No response.
"Dimitri, please tell me you got Skylar?" Still no response.
"Dimitri, come in" I waited a minute but still no response.
"Dimitri!" I was starting to get irritated now. Why was he ignoring me?
"Does anyone know where male guardian Belikov is?" I asked everyone through the radio. I waited another minute and still, there was no reply.
"Find him!" I demanded. "Please" I added as an afterthought. It took a few minutes but someone found him.
"Guardian Belikov, please come over to station five." As soon as I heard that I ran over. I found him laying on the floor unconscious.
"Dimitri?" I asked, shaking him.
"Dimitri!" I shouted, shaking him harder. Slowly he started coming around.
"Huh? What's going on?" He mumbled.
"Where's Skylar?" He suddenly sat up asking. I knew she was gone as he didn't have her.
"What happened?" I asked.
"She's good, really good but I was keeping up, so she separated us and fought me. She is really good at fighting" he directed this at Eddie. "She managed to knock me out, she knocked me out!" He said this proudly.
"Find them!" I demanded and this time I will not be adding please at the end.
Declan POV-
"Is that a guardian?" Amelia asked horrified.
"Shit!" I exclaimed. Then the plane started taking off.
"Don't worry he doesn't know it's us, we are still wearing our necklaces," Oscar added, which made me relax until I remember him saying they don't last indefinitely.
"Oscar, how long do the necklaces last?"
"About five hours and we've been wearing them not even half an hour yet so there isn't any worry." Oscar hoped.
"The plane ride is ten hours long." Amelia gulped. Great, I need to figure something out.
"Leave it to me," I told them.
I know we are not being the most cautious whilst escaping but in all honesty, I wanted my family to experience the world before we get cut off from it. I didn't think for one second they would keep up with us the plan was for them to find out we were in Brazil but after we already left. That's why we spent a week here, travelling and doing all sorts of activities. I have an end destination but we are going to stop in a few places along the way, staying for a few nights, here and there. Not in the same way as we were in Brazil, I wanted them to find us there, instead I want to see if they can find us, track us down. There would have to be an overwhelming amount of guardians or anyone else for them to succeed. I didn't know if we were strong enough at first, but every time we nearly got caught we won our freedom back.
Four hours into our journey. I knew it wouldn't be long until our necklaces stopped working. That's when I saw the guardian stand up to go to the bathroom.
I acted fast, "you see that seat, that man just got out of? Go sit in it." I used compulsion on the woman sat across from us on the plane, she complied straight away, no questions asked because that is what compulsion does. I stood, got my bag and made my way over to the bathroom. As soon as he opened the door to leave, I pushed him back in, quickly knocked him out, putting one of my hats and sunglasses on him, I basically dragged him, with one arm on his waist and his arm over my shoulder back to the seats. I sat where the woman was and put the guardian in my seat. I kept him out of it until we got to Austria, Vienna.
Skylar POV-
I could see out of the window as I had the window seat, I could see the Wiener Riesenrad, it's the highest point in Vienna, you can see the entire city from the top, it's very like the London eye apparently, I wouldn't know I haven't been on either. Declan is making my wish come true, I've always wanted to travel the world and now we are. Once we landed we got off the plane with everyone else, I helped Declan with the guardian. The security at the airport was the hardest thing to get past he kept giving me and Declan odd looks, I was starting to worry that he recognised us from somewhere. That was until Declan said.
"Sir, our father had just a little too much to drink aboard the plane" the security guard nodded and didn't bother to question any further. Once we got past security Declan went to the airport ticket station. He came back after a few minutes and we left to get a cab or whatever they are called over here.
Vienna is filled with history, it is a beautiful city.
After about twenty minutes we stopped at a hotel. It was on a street called Ringstrasse. The Ringstrasse is huge ring shaped road that goes all around the city centre. Once Declan booked us a room we headed up to it. We tied the guardian up so hard that he couldn't possibly escape. He was still out cold so we left to get some food, at the famous Palmehaus which is the biggest greenhouse in the world. It has plants and tree from all over the world. It has Baobab trees, from Madagascar, methuselah trees, angel oak trees, dragon blood trees, pando trees and so, so much more. There were hydrangeas, bleeding hearts, chrysanthemum, morning glories and so, so many more. There are hundreds of different coloured roses from the usual red and pink all the way to rainbow, meteor coloured, black dragons and zampa dust. My favourite Rose is the remorse ones, they are a beautiful mix of light pink in the centre, to light purple followed by light blue and on the edges the deepest blue. It blended so perfectly you couldn't tell where one coloured ended and the next started. There was so much to see it was amazing. We got schnitzels which are fried/battered, pork or veal. It tasted slightly salty but overall amazing. We got one to go for the guardian locked up in our hotel room. Declan didn't want to leave him alone for too long so he and Oscar went back to the hotel whilst me and Amelia went food shopping in Waschmarkt which is the famous outdoor market in Vienna. Once we got back to the hotel the guardian was slowing coming around.
"Woah, what's going on?" The guardian asked before looking around.
"Oh, you guys?" He tried moving "why am I tied up?"
"We don't want the guardians knowing where we are, so you are going to be tied up until we leave, we leave in 16 hours," Declan informed everyone. We've only been here for four hours, so we will only spend twenty hours in Austria altogether. We stayed at the hotel room and asked the guardian a few questions, most of which he didn't answer but we found out his name, guardian Cole.
After a while we all slept apart from Declan, he stayed up to keep an eye on guardian Cole.
It felt like as soon as I fell asleep it was time to get up. I was wearing a blue flowing summer dress with my black leather jacket and high hilled ankle boats.
Oscars POV-
I am wearing my black denim jeans with holes at the knees, a white long top, with white running trainers and a black jacket.
We all put on our glasses and our hats and left for the airport. We managed to board easily enough, I hacked into the cameras from airport security with the help of compulsion and set up a camera glitch so they won't catch us on camera. A few hours after we got on the plane Declan asked to use a strangers phone, he turned on no caller ID and called the guardians to tell them where to find guardian, Cole. It was dangerous to call the guardians and to call them at this point however we did not want guardian Cole to be in any pain at all. We didn't want him to be hungry or to hurt himself trying to get lose from the ties.
As we descended into Tianjin we could see the bizarre-looking buildings, we could also see loads of skyscrapers. China is a much bigger area in terms of population than most other countries that's for sure.
Once we reached the entrance area, we could see through the glass walls, loads of men and women with golden lilies on their faces.
"Shit! Alchemist! Come on we need to find another exit." Declan told us grabbing mine and Amelia's hands, we turned and ran as fast as we could, trying to keep out of the alchemist's view, unfortunately, I don't have any more necklaces so we need to lose them properly this time.
We managed to find an exit through a lift you can take to the car park area, there weren't any alchemists down there, we ran out of the car park together.
"Hey, they are over here!" We heard some guy yell. At that we picked up the pace, we kept on running until we went past something called the Kafelaku.
"Split up, in half an hour meet back here," Declan said loud enough for us to hear but not loud enough for the alchemists.
I kept running, the amount of people here is crazy, strigoi heaven?
I ran through Five Great Avenues. I've seen this place in movies I think, looks very familiar. I sent fireballs back towards the guardians, they managed to dodge them. There were people everywhere, but I managed to dodge them all. I then ran past Jingyuan which is a museum in memory of a wartime boat that went down oversea I think. I'm not sure I didn't have time to look. I looked behind me and saw motorcycles they were catching up. I sent fireballs back towards to motorcycles and they hit, making them unable to work. I kept on running and running. I ran down Guwenha Jie, which is a famous street, it was even busier than any other street I've been down so it was easy for me to lose them. I jumped into the closest art exhibition and luckily for me it had two exits, so I managed to get out the other way without them realising I was gone. I was the first to get to Kafelaku, which I noticed was a cafe upon better inspection. I still had ten minutes until the others are meant to be here so I went inside that's when I remembered we were in China, I don't know how to speak Chinese. Either way, I walked up to the counter and tried talking.
"Do you understand English?" I asked politely.
"对不起，我不明白" (sorry, I don't understand) the woman behind the counter replied apologetically.
"Right then, mmmm," I tried to remember what the word coffee was in Chinese I did know it at some point, it was more of a joke but I knew it at one point. I must have stood there for at least a whole minute before it clicked.
"咖啡" (coffee) I asked as politely as I could putting up four fingers.
"当然，先生" (of course, sir.) I didn't know what she said but when she turned to start our drinks I still thanked her. Some guy behind me, I've never seen before then spoke to her. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes, he was very slim but you could see he had muscles, he must have been in his forties.
"我会为他付款，请错过" I had no idea what he said, but the girl smiled at him and gave my drinks to me, I went to pay for them but she just went on to serve the guy, I stood there waiting for her to take my payment patiently.
The guy then spoke to me. "They've been paid for, you can leave now." I turned to him shocked. I noticed instantly the American accent.
"Did you pay for our drinks?" I asked sceptically. He nodded but didn't respond. I was very suspicious of this guy now and wanted to get as far as I could away from him. Luckily as I walked out I saw the other three turn up.
"Hey, you got us drinks?" Skylar asked. As they reached for their drinks.
"Yes and no," I responded, no one took a sip of their drinks.
"What do you mean?" Amelia asked breathlessly.
"Some guy, well he paid for our drinks," I told them, to which they turned and gave me a look. Then all three put their drinks in the bin outside the door. Without having to communicate at all. I put mine in the bin as well. It isn't safe to take drinks from others, some random stranger brought us drinks? He could have got her to put something in them and we would never know. If she probably wouldn't do anything like that however it is a possibility they would try to poison us, so you never know. It's a waste of our drinks but it's better to be safe than sorry. A stranger doesn't do things like that.
We walked towards the seafront and then walked towards a boat dock, we got some guy who spoke broken English to give us a ride to Shanghai which was a six-hour journey, gave him some money for his time and that. Then got off and went to the airport, again hacking into the Systems erasing the cameras and proceeded on to the next flight, which was going to Sydney Australia.
Skylar POV-
Sydney Australia is massive. We got a hotel room, strangely Declan booked a room for a few nights. It's strange because I thought we would be moving on straight away, not sticking around. However, it's Declan and we trust him. We arrived late at night so we went straight to our room. We have a single room that has two double beds so we are sharing a room. I and Amelia are sharing a bed and Oscar and Declan are sharing a bed. We one by one have a shower and get into sleepwear. We went straight to sleep again, I think that's a guardian thing, the ability to fall to sleep fast.
The next morning, Declan wakes us up, already collected breakfast from a local bakery. We have sweetcorn fritters with avocado, which are Australia's most famous breakfast choice.
He had also gone and got tickets for the famous Sydney opera house. We all got excited. We've never been to anything as fancy as an opera house. Walking into the opera house you can see the famous harbour bridge not too far away, it started at 11:30 am.
The show was amazing, overall it took four hours and we enjoyed every second of it, or at least I did. I think Amelia found it boring.
We decided to have a walk around before going back to the hotel, we ended up walking down 'the street of art of Newtown' the famous street where random people come and paint whatever they want, it's legal to paint here, some people may say it's legal to vandalise the walls, but it's beautiful paintings, how could someone not find this amazing. There is this one wall that is covered in flowers but the design makes it look like the flowers are dripping like the flowers are crying, it gives quite a strong meaning to me such as 'even the most beautiful things cry' also 'nothing is truly perfect.' There's also a few upsetting ones such as a polar bear that is clinging onto a small piece of ice for dear life whilst everything else is on fire, the meaning behind this one is global warming, the ice caps are melting and soon the polar bears won't survive. On the way back to the hotel we stopped to change some money over.
A few hours later we were all bored. "You know what, let's do something different!" Declan said seeming happy to have an idea.
"What?" I asked, suspicious because he obviously did not plan this.
"How about we go clubbing?"
"What!" I jumped up. "That's a stupid idea. We couldn't do that, we're not even old enough."
"Yes, dear sister and we can use compulsion to aid in that." Added Oscar.
"Oh please, Skylar, please," Amelia begged.
"Seriously?" "Fine!" I added. I knew we could have some fun but it just seems a bit irresponsible to go to a club.
Amelia's and I went to the shop to get a dress and then went back to the hotel. Half an hour later we were all dressed. I was wearing a black mid-thigh, clingy dress, it looked pretty good on me. Amelia was wearing the same sort of dress but it was longer and deep blue not black it also didn't cling to her as much.
It was only a ten-minute walk to the nearby clubs and we all got in easily, no one checked our IDs, not that we have any for them to check and we all had a drink. I almost finished my drink when I started to feel ill, I felt like I was going to throw up. I've only had one drink so I don't think you're supposed to feel like this.
"Declan, was there something wrong with the drinks?" I asked/shouted as it was loud in here.
"You feel it too?" Amelia asked.
"Feel what?" Oscar asked, well he must be fine then.
"nausea?" Declan asked to which Amelia and I nodded. Okay, this is very strange, we all feel ill apart from Oscar. I saw Declan searching the room then, I don't know what he was searching for but I felt the need to search as well and once I saw it, I knew exactly what our nausea means, there's a strigoi here.
"Over there" I pointed to him, at least I think it's a he, for Declan.
We couldn't attack him in here, so we kept an eye on the strigoi but didn't proceed towards him, we just danced, he seemed to be flirting with some human girl, it made me feel even more sick because I knew exactly what he wanted and it was definitely not what the girl wanted. After half an hour we got up to leave with the girl and we all followed. We only had one drink because as soon as we saw him we knew we would have to be fast enough and concentrate enough to stop him and being intoxicated means we won't be able to.
He turned around the corner with the woman in his arm, they went down an alleyway which had two exits/entrances. Amelia and I proceeded to follow the strigoi whilst Oscar and Declan went around the building to the other side of the alleyway. I was so glad that I made everyone carry their stakes tonight. Once I saw them and I knew he was trapped, I made Amelia stay back and I shouted at him.
"Oi, mister strigoi man, hey, yeah you. Big dummy, how about you come for us and leave the nice lady alone." I was trying to get him to leave the woman alone and come for me. He turned to look at me and gave me a devil may care grin.
"Now why little child would I do that, she looks lovely does she not?"
"We both know dhampirs taste better. Sorry lady" he seemed interested so I continued,
"Come on man, you manage to overpower me then you can have me." That made me shiver in disgust, however, I knew he couldn't overpower me because all four of us are here, it might be possible for him to win if I was alone but not with all of us, especially as he isn't expecting us to be half as powerful as we are.
"Deal" he smiled and threw the woman away. She froze, shocked.
"Get out of here!" I shouted at her, me shouting at her is what made her move. She ran past me and continued going, out of the alleyway. The strigoi pounced for me before I could reach for my stake, he is much taller than me, so I went for a jumped kick to the head. He dodges just in time, and grabbed my arm I managed to land a hit on him, he was so shocked he let go. Next, I went for a couched kick but he dodged it, I jumped back up straight away, aiming to hit his head but he faster, he dodged it and hit me super hard which made me fly back a little, that was when Amelia, Declan and Oscar decided to jump in. Declan did a couched kick which made him fall to his knees, at the same moment Oscar jumped on his shoulders and kept punching his head, Amelia ran forward and kicked his stomach fast over and over again, it didn't take long until the strigoi was down and Oscar set him on fire.
"Well, well, well that wasn't very fair, was it? Four against one? How about one vs one?" Asked another strigoi as he and three others jumped down from the rooftop. He was so fast we didn't even have time to realise there was more around after killing the first.
Declan and I didn't wait for a split second and ran towards them, I ran towards the one who spoke, the one in charge I believe, Declan ran to the on to his right, the other two ran towards Oscar and Amelia before we even passed I could see fireball being thrown everywhere, as we pasted the two strigoi they barged into us and sent us both flying into the wall but we got back up and kept going.
Once I reached mine I jumped to round kick his face, he saw me coming, grabbed my foot and pushed me into the wall. I jumped back up straight away and kept on fighting, I won't give up and this time I don't have the other three for help, instead, I need to help them. I and my strigoi kept kicking and punching each other, dodging each other's attacks.
"Seems like you and your friends are faster than others like you. I wonder why" he grinned at me. I ignored him and continued attacking him, it took much longer then I wanted to but I managed to get my stake out and stake him. I looked around and saw Oscar's strigoi was unconscious and on fire, Declan was still fighting his, Amelia looked like she was losing against hers. I looked at Oscar and silently told him to help Declan and I ran over to Amelia, I was hoping to do a sneak attack however he heard me coming and turned to attack, I put my stake back in my pocket and I pounced on him and wrapped my legs around his waist, punching his head, he ran into the wall crushing me, he tried to get my hands but he failed I managed to keep on punching. Amelia got up and staked him from behind. Whilst he was too busy concentrating on me. Just as out strigoi was down I looked over and saw Oscar putting Declan's unconscious strigoi on fire. Oscar then set the other two on fire and we left. After a long night, we decided to go straight home. This is our first ever run in with strigoi and I think we did an amazing job, we killed five without much harm coming to us.
We stayed for a few more days, we went clubbing a few times and killed a few more strigoi, all together we killed eleven strigoi during our time here. Then we left Australia to go to Istanbul, Turkey.
I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter. I have finished the plan for the escape, now I just need to write it. After I finish it I am going to take a break before I move onto what happens after. I have no idea still what I am going to do for that. So after I finish writing the escape I will take a short break and plan a few chapters of them settling into their new life and such. I feel like this chapter is good but wasn't one of my best. It's all starting to feel a bit repetitive but I will continue until they have escaped and lost them successfully. I will try to upload once a week until the escape is over but I won't promise more than that. I spend a lot of time trying to make a plan of what to do after the escape, so that is taking up a lot of my time. Thank you.
