Chapter 9: Injuries
Jazz looked at Clockwork wide eyed at what he had shown her, Dani nearly destroying Johnny entirely.
"H... How... Dan... Dani has never had anger issues. No matter what any of her enemies do to her, she is never mad at them. Even Pariah Dark, she said she couldn't truly hate." Jazz said her body shaking at the idea of Dani going so far.
"No she hasn't, even right now she doesn't, but this Danielle... is not the same one as the one laying in bed. Remember this Danielle has lost everything that was important to her. Her heart is shattered and she's trying to piece it together." Clockworked explained to the teen girl. "That event actually set in motion a change of events. I'm sure you have noticed your sister's red eyes?"
Jazz nodded her head. "Yeah, they remind me of Vlad's actually, like perhaps... her ghost half is taking control?" She asks, throwing a wild idea out.
"Actually that's what's happening, but it's not her ghost half taking control. It's more Danielle releasing the more... feral side of her ghost half." Clockwork tried to explain, taking a sip of his tea. "You see, during those moments that she is letting her ghost's feral side out, the pain she feels from her family and friends death is gone, and after she contains it again tends to make the pain even worse."
Jazz looked over at her sleeping sister sadly. "So... what is happening to her?"
"Honestly Jasmine? She's losing her mind. The pain of loss is a terrible feeling. One that has hit Danielle very hard. Kitty, Ember, and Spectra are all slowing it down, but each time she lets that feral side out, it gets worse and this is now the second time." Clockwork said looking at the portal, showing a paused image of Dani looking at her hand, a look of horror on her face. "Are you ready to finish this story?"
Jazz nodded her head.
"Very well, let us jump ahead again, to five years after that horrible event." Clockwork says waving a hand at the portal, making it change it's image. This time changing to one of Dani and Kitty holding each other in bed.
===Clockwork's Tale===
Dani was on her back asleep while Kitty was laying her head on the halfa's breasts using them as pillows. Dani was shifting around in bed, her eyes flickering around under her eyelids. Suddening the girl shot up out of bed in a cold sweat making Kitty tumble off to the side.
"Jazz!" Dani screamed out as she woke up, breathing heavy and eyes wide.
Kitty shot away as Dani knocked her off her. "Dani?" She calls out sliding next to her girlfriend and wrapped her arms around her lovingly. "Another nightmare?"
Dani slowly nodded her head, her body not moving as she continued to get her breath back, feeling Kitty peck her with several kisses across her cheek and neck.
The white haired girl swung her legs off the bed and slowly stood up followed quickly by Kitty. The green haired ghost walks over next to Dani and kisses her softly on the cheek.
"You go sit down love, I'll make you something to eat okay?" Kitty said sweetly.
"Thank you sweetheart." Dani said softly, turning her head to press her lips to Kitty's in a soft kiss.
Kitty smiled and walked out of the bedroom heading for the kitchen of her realm, and slowly began to make Dani breakfast. While she herself didn't need to eat being a ghost, she knew Dani had to eat because of her human half and so happily took up the role of cooking to help her.
Dani slowly walked out of the bedroom and headed to the living room, sitting down on a small loveseat that had become her and Kitty's cuddling spot, even sitting in it alone seemed to help the ghost girl.
The green haired ghost hummed as she worked in her kitchen cooking for the halfa. While Dani was a mess of emotions because of losing her family, their time together during the last five years was the best Kitty has ever had.
After another ten minutes Kitty walked into the living room carrying a plate of pancakes for her girlfriend with a glass of juice. "Here's your breakfast Dani." She called out sitting next to the halfa, placing the plate on the table in front of the loveseat.
Dani leaned over and kissed the green haired girl on the cheek. "Thank you sweetheart."
Kitty smiled leaning her head into Dani's shoulder as the girl began to eat. The halfa still hadn't said 'those' words, but she knew Dani was still in pain. Instead though she was saying it with actions or other words. Such as her new pet name of sweetheart. She honestly didn't expect Dani to ever say 'those' words to her, but she didn't care. They were happy together and she loved the halfa with all her being.
"Dani?" Kitty called out to her girlfriend, looking up from her spot on her shoulder.
The halfa looked over at Kitty as she swallowed a bite of food.
"Would you like to go out after you eat and just go flying around? Maybe we can get our friends together and all of us can do something." Kitty suggested.
"Sure sweetheart, I think that would be nice." Dani said tipping her head down to kiss Kitty on the forehead, before returning to her breakfast.
The green haired ghost smiled and stood up. "I'm gonna go get ready." She said heading down the hall to the bedroom.
She worked on getting dressed in a tank top and miniskirt humming as she did. She looked in the mirror and smiled. Per Dani's request the former biker girl had grown her hair out. It was currently to the bottom of her shoulder blades, but she planned to keep it going, knowing the halfa would enjoy it.
A half hour later the two ghosts were flying around the ghost zone, but instead of side by side holding hands like Kitty and Johnny used to, Dani prefered a closer flight. Kitty didn't even have to exert any strength as Dani held her tightly, her arm wrapped around Kitty's waist, their hips pressing together as the green haired ghost rested her head on Dani's shoulder as they flew around.
This had become the norm for them, Dani always preferring to be as close as possible.
"Dani! Kitty!" A pair of voices called out, flying towards the pair.
"Ember! Spectra!" Kitty called out seeing her and Dani's friends.
She and Dani pulled away from each other, Kitty rushing over to Ember and wrapping her arms around her best friend, while Spectra had come over and wrapped Dani in a large hug. Next to Kitty, Spectra was the closest to Dani.
"How are you doing Dani?" Spectra asked softly, hearing Kitty talking with Ember. "Still nightmares?"
Dani slowly nodded her head. "Yeah... I... I just can't get it to stop. I've tried everything you suggested, Spectra and nothing seems to work." She said with a sigh.
"Well remember, my door is always open. I know our sessions stopped helping, but you can always come to me as a friend." Spectra said with a warm smile.
"Thanks Spectra... I mean it."
Kitty and Ember came up as they finished, Kitty returning to Dani's side. "So girls, what are we going to do?" Ember called out.
"How about burning to ashes!" A deep rumbling voice yelled out.
As the group turned to look where the voice came from they all saw a giant gout of fire heading towards them. Dani raised her hand causing a swirling orb of energy to surround all four of them, causing the flames to pass over them without harm. Once the shield fell all four noticed a giant black dragon heading towards them.
"Prince Aragon." Dani said slowly with a growl.
The giant dragon landed on a floating hunk of land facing the group of four ghosts.
"Ghost girl... you will pay for messing with my plans. Both the ones to get a wife and when I tried to take back MY Kingdom." The dragon roared out.
"It's not your kingdom Aragon. It is Queen Dora's." Dani yelled out, pushing Kitty behind her. "Now I'm warning you, leave us alone. I don't want to deal with you. I just want to enjoy some time with my girlfriend and friends."
Aragon laughed loudly as he stared at the halfa. "Which is perfect, you will be so focused on protecting them, you won't be able to protect yourself." He yelled out, spitting another gout of fire at the ghosts.
Dani growls raising her hands forming a massive shield in front of her and her friends causing the flames to pass by harmlessly. As the flames stopped Dani jumped into the air, flying at the dragon.
The white haired ghost slammed into the dragon's stomach at full speed causing Aragon to gasp for breath, before Dani blasted him away into the ground.
Aragon lifted his head from the ground and blew another gout of fire at Dani, who formed an ecto orb around herself to protect herself. Before releasing the flames, the dragon stood up and swiped at the halfa as he stopped his flames. Once the flames disappeared Dani released her shield, only to be slapped hard by the dragon and sent flying into a wall.
Aragon smirked and turned away looking at the three other ghosts that were with the halfa. He took a deep breath and sent out a spiraling gout of fire at the trio of girls.
Ember quickly raised her guitar and strummed a note, sending a blast at the gout of fire as Spectra and Kitty both tried to fire ecto-beams. All three attacks seemed to only be eaten by the flame, all of their eyes widening in horror as they each formed a shield around themselves for protection.
Dani slowly pulled herself out of the wall and looked over, her eyes widening seeing Aragon spraying a gout of flame where Kitty and her friends had been. As Aragon closed his mouth to cut the flames Dani heard a cry of pain from a voice she knew all too well. As the flames vanished two ecto-shields were still up being held by a panting Ember and Spectra, while Kitty laid on the ground, covered in minor burns.
Dani disappeared for a moment before reappearing next to her girlfriend. "Kitty!" She cried out kneeling down and wrapping her arms around the green haired ghost, causing both Spectra and Ember to look behind them.
Seeing Kitty's state they both paled. Many ghosts had been hurt by Dani in the past years when they would cause the biker girl to be in danger. Dani was able to be stopped from killing them, but in those cases Kitty had never been injured. Both of them knew if Dani went after the dragon, there would be nothing anyone in the ghost zone could do to stop her from ending his existence.
Dani looked over Kitty and noticing she wasn't overly injured she set her girlfriend down on the ground and slowly stood up. When her head shot up to glare at the dragon her eyes were blood red instead of green causing both Ember and Spectra to take a few steps away from the ghost girl.
===Dani's Room===
Jazz looked at the portal in horror seeing the red eyes of her sister again.
"As you can see Jasmine, when Kitty is in danger her eyes turn red and she loses control somewhat." Clockwork explained pointing to the frozen image of Dani glaring at Aragon.
"Wh... what did you mean by Dani hurt other ghosts over the years?" Jazz inquired unsure if she wanted to know.
"Well, Box Ghost ended up losing a hand and eye when he decided to try and use Pandora's Box to be given unlimited power. He inadvertently put Kitty in danger, and after Danielle sealed the box away she attacked Box Ghost in a rage. She destroyed a hand with an ecto-beam and clawed at him with ecto energy coating her hands, which ended up taking one of his eyes. It took all three, Ember, Spectra and Kitty jumping on Danielle begging her to stop when she was about to end his existence." Clockwork explained before the portal changed view to the burned Kitty. "But this has never once happened. Since Danielle and Kitty became a couple, Kitty has never once been hurt, only put in danger and look at the results." He said, opening a second portal.
The second portal showed images of ghosts Dani had injured. Skulktech, who in order to live requires Technus to be life support. Johnny 13 who was now bound in a whirl chair. Box Ghost who was missing a hand and eye. They were the main three but many more ghosts appeared on the portal injured in some way. Walker, the warden of the prison was also shown, though half his face looked like it had been through a meat grinder, and was the last to appear before the portal faded.
