Vivian stood in her kitchen, watching as coffee drizzled in the clear pot. She could hear her sister arguing with Eric upstairs and she took in a deep breath before letting it out. There hadn't been much sleep the previous night, she was still aggravated with Jax Teller. He was being stupid, his actions made no sense to anyone. Well, maybe only Vivian knew about the stupidity Jax partook in but still. She shrugged absentmindedly, not even realizing her front door had been opened and her parents now stood in her kitchen with her. That is, until she heard the infamous clearing throat that her father did.
David Anderson. Between her parents, her father was her favorite. Her mother was overbearing and annoyed her. He looked at the brunette beside him and shrugged. "Good morning, Vivian."
"Good morning, dad." The younger brunette turned, lazily waving as she did so. "Coffee is ready, mugs are in that cabinet beside the fridge." She filled her mug up and stepped aside, now looking at her parents. "Let me guess, family visit to make sure Ryan is behaving himself?"
Leslie rolled her eyes. "No, we wanted to visit our children. I don't truly know why Isabel is here, we were told about this last night." She moved to the cabinet she was directed to and grabbed two cranberry colored mugs out of the cabinet. "I don't know why you feel the need to throw walls up for us but we are your parents, we love you, Vivian."
"Pardon my disbelief." The younger brunette looked at her mother for a moment before she dropped onto a barstool. "Look, I'm tired of this nonsense. I have done nothing to make you two no trust me. I am a grown woman, I am successful in what I am doing and it's not like I'm a prostitute or drug dealer. I decided to look into other hospitals and I found one that allows me my own team, my own department. Nothing is wrong with cute little one horse towns, they're quiet and I still find challenges here."
Isabel giggled as she walked into the kitchen. "One horse town. What could possibly challenge you or us here?"
"Who is us? You don't live here, I do. Do not follow me here either, I enjoy being an hour from you guys. Please do not come here, we do not have to live in some Amish village here." Vivian shook her head. "You want to visit me and stop being such a twat, Isabel, then great. Visit with warning. Let me have time to prepare a visit from you guys, prepare time off at the hospital. Don't show up unannounced. It just screams how much you all really respect me and my life."
David scoffed as he shook his head. "No Amish village, but visits would be nice. We are a family, why must we always be mean or fight with one another?"
"Good question. Isabel, care to take this one?" Vivian set her mug on the island and crossed her arms over her chest. "I'd love to hear your opinion on this."
The older sister rolled her eyes. "I just think you should strive for better. I mean, you have some bike gang knowing where you live, Viv!"
"Bike gang. One of the members of that organization - could be a gang or a club or whatever - not sure- but one of the members is the husband of one of my patients who is also a friend of mine. I don't judge you for your taste in company, I suggest you back off of mine." Vivian shook her head. "It's not your business, I am not a fucking child. But please, proceed wondering why I picked this place to settle in. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with Miss I Know Everything."
Leslie tried to hide her smirk as she shrugged. "Be fair, Vivian. She is your older sister and she tries to be protective of you and your decisions but you are like me and cannot stand to be hovered on." She tapped on her eldest daughter's side. "You must back off, otherwise she will end up moving to Antarctica."
"Fine, fine, fine. I will slack off but can I at least tell you about running into Cooper Thurman again? He asked about you, Viv." Isabel sighed heavily. "He asked if you were still loving life with cute babies."
Vivian waved her sister off. "No one cares to hear about that slime. He had his chance and blew it for a stupid ass golf game. Ew." She shook her head slowly. "On another note, I have to go into the hospital so get settled in. I will talk to you guys later."
St. Thomas Hospital
Tara Knowles watched from the nurse's station as the elevator doors opened and out strolled Jax Teller, she perked up when she saw the bouquet of flowers in his hand. He kept on his path to the office of Vivian Anderson only to find the door shut so he knocked on it, looking back briefly to make eye contact with Tara and she gave him a smile to which he returned.
She started his way, stopping when the door to the office opened before quickly shutting. Jax was still on the outside. She gasped before quickly recovering. She approached him, pulling him to the side. "What was that about?"
"I told her I slept with you and I haven't heard from her yet." He shook his head slowly. "It was a stupid fu-."
"Excuse me-." Agent Josh Kohn interrupted the pair with a creepy smile on his face. "My apologies, I am looking for Dr. Anderson."
Jax gestured behind him, pointing to the closed office door. "That's her office, if she's not in there she could be out of the office for the day." He looked at Tara. "But Dr. Knowles is on her team, she can help you." He turned, walking off towards the nurse's station. "Excuse me, I need to get these to Dr. Anderson. I'd appreciate it, darlin'."
"Jax." Vivian appeared behind the man. "That's not her job, please do away with the flowers and do not return with any other gifts." She turned away from him before he could respond and moved toward Tara. "Please go check on the nursery, Dr. Carlisle will be here soon to meet with me about some procedures, if this meeting here goes over the desired time then I'll need you to stay with her until I can meet with her." She watched Tara nod and disappear down the hall behind her before Vivian turned to the agent. "How can I help you today, Agent?"
"I was hoping to speak with you regarding a case I'm working on." Kohn looked down at Vivian and sighed. "It is a tiresome one."
Vivian shook her head slowly. "I wish I could help you, Agent Kohn, but alas I cannot. I unfortunately did not attend the academy to be mandated and I certainly did not take any kind of criminal classes when I was college. I have things to do today, you will have to set up an appointment if you're trying to question me about things I already have no clue about. I am a doctor, as I said previously. I live and breathe the medical world."
"Yes but I think-." He started but stopped as Vivian threw her hand up to stop him.
"Appointment. Make one. I am not free to discuss anything with you today. Have a good one." Vivian turned and walked off back to her office, slamming the door shut. "Jesus, people."
Later that night
Jax sat down the street from where Vivian lived, watching as the silver sedan from the day prior pulled out of the driveway before a silver SUV pulled out behind the sedan. He shook his head slowly. Lights were still on in the house, she had to be home. He had to talk to her. He needed to apologize, he needed to hear from her. He needed to be near her. Jax made his move, getting off of his Dyna and walking up to the beautiful home. He approached the front door and started knocking.
The front door slowly opened up, revealing Vivian in a swimsuit and she sighed heavily. "What, Jax?"
"Please talk to me." He murmured, his blue eyes still on the brunette. "Please."
Vivian sighed deeply before she stepped outside, closing the front door behind her. "What do you want to discuss?"
"How to get your forgiveness." He grabbed her hands but she pulled away from him.
She nodded. "You are forgiven now please leave and do not return. Stop coming to the hospital too." She turned to go back inside but he grabbed her, hugging her tightly. "Let me go, Jax."
"No. I love you, Viv. I'm sorry I am a fucking idiot. I'm stupid." He murmured as he held her in his arms.
Vivian nodded her head again as she pushed him away from her. "You are an idiot but what's done is done. I forgave you, I just cannot look at you anymore. I thought you were a different person, I did. But I proved that I too am stupid. You're an opportunist, I trusted you and you screwed me over. I have family here so please leave."
.
.
.
She laid down in her bed, pulling the top sheet and quilt over her body with a sigh. She heard her phone ping and she shook her head as she rolled over at the same time there was a knock at her bedroom door. She got out of her bed and moved to the door, pulling it open to reveal her mother. She sighed again, looking up at the older brunette. "Hard day mom."
"It seems like you woke up to a hard day. What's wrong, Vivian?" Leslie held her hands out for the brunette. "What happened? Did you lose a baby recently?"
Vivian shook her head slowly as she took her mom's hands before accepting the hug. "No thank god. I was just let down, it's disappointing mom. I at least thought he'd be a good guy but I really am stupid when it comes to men. How the hell am I dumb?"
"I haven't gotten a hug out of you since you were like five. What exactly happened, my darling?" Leslie pulled away and led her daughter to the bed, being sure to close the door first.
The young woman sighed once more and sat down on her bed. "I've been seeing this guy, I thought we shared the same feelings this entire time but he apparently thought it'd be a cool idea to sleep with his ex-girlfriend. That is all."
"Men are not bright individuals." Leslie murmured as she wiped at her daughter's stray tears. "But you have to decide if your feelings and this relationship you two built up is strong enough to withstand stupidity."
Vivian shook her head. "That does not matter, I don't want to be that stupid woman. If he did this while we weren't so serious, he'll do it if I give him another chance. He will think I sign off on this shit and I'm ok with it."
"You cannot say that he hasn't learned his lesson. Sometimes they do dumb things and it's over with. Never to be repeated again." Leslie shrugged again. "You don't know."
Vivian rolled her eyes. "Unless I take the risk. That's such shit. I'd rather not play the universe's games any longer. They're petulant, mom. I just want to be happy, why can't people just do smart things and be smart people?"
"Because half of those people you're curious about are men, men are fools and more times than not, they have to learn the hard way." The older brunette hugged her daughter again. "I'm sorry you're hurting, my girl."
September 28, 2008
Jax walked into the home he once shared with his ex-wife and he made his way toward the kitchen where he heard his ex-wife talking, he was yet to hear another voice but that didn't mean much, she could've been on the phone. But he was wrong. He'd been in such a daze, he missed the BMW in the driveway but there she sat at the table holding his son as she talked to his ex-wife. He stopped for a moment before he continued into the kitchen.
"Wendy?"
Wendy looked up with a smile. "Hey Jax, what's up? He's getting storytime from Viv and loving it."
"Just wanted to stop by, check on you two. Hey Viv." Jax tried, his eyes never leaving the brunette as he moved further into the kitchen.
Viv looked up with a smile for Wendy before she nodded in acknowledgment to Jax. "Jax. Wendy, he's looking a little drunk. I think you put him into a milk coma before you passed him over." She slowly stood up. "He's precious and falling asleep though so I think I'm going to get out of here. Let me know how his appointment goes tomorrow." She smiled as she passed the newborn over to Wendy before she walked out of the home.
"You hurt her, didn't you?" Wendy looked at Jax as she adjusted Abel before she started rocking back and forth slowly.
Jax nodded his head as he sat down at the table. "She told me to leave her alone." He rubbed his face vigorously. "I made a huge mistake, I can't take back either."
"She's a good person, she's sweet and resilient and kind and gorgeous. Not to mention, smart as hell too." Wendy shook her head. "You messed up big, I surely hope you can fix it because she is great. Just because we didn't work out doesn't mean you don't deserve happiness. I hope it works out. Even though you're an idiot for whatever you did to hurt her."
AN: Hiiii again! Here's another chapter for you lovely people! I hope you guys enjoyed it and the last chapter. I know it was a shock that Jax was such a fool but is it really a shock?
I reintroduced Vivian's parents. Kohn is alive. Everyone thinks Jax is dumb.
Let me know what ya think.
