Marcus and Meg were still at the river. He returned to his seat next to her on the bench and the celebrated their engagement. Some time later, Marcus began to think about what to do when "Don Juan Triumphant," opened. Meg laid her head on his chest and looked at him.
"Do not think of it for now. Let's just celebrate our engagement," she requested.

He smiled and gave her a kiss. She smiled and stroked his cheek. Moments later he called for a carriage and they went back to the Op'era House. When they returned, Raoul was looking for them.

"Where the devil have you been?" Raoul demanded.

"Since today was an off day, we went to the river," Marcus answered.

Raoul just scoffed. Meg tried to tell him and the others that they were engaged, he cut her off.

"That is very well and fine. Now you're here. We have devised a plan," he said.

"What is it?" Marcus asks angrily.

"Will it be putting anyone in danger?" Meg asked.

"It's a slight deviation from your plan. Hopefully it won't put anyone in too much danger. What we do is the first part of your plan. We go through with the production and we keep Christine as the lead. Instead of having a carriage waiting and leaving with Christine immediately after the production is over, we are bringing in the police and having them arrest the Phantom once it's over. He is nothing but a mere man. You know I have proven that," Raoul explained.

"You can't do that!" Meg cried out. "He'll see through it! This whole show is a way for him to try to get Christine back in his control! I know it. He'll burn the theater down if we try to arrest him," she shouted.

"She's right," Marcus agreed. "He left a letter saying he will burn the theater down! I have it right here," he bluffed.

"This plan will work better. We're a step ahead this time even if you don't want to believe it," Raoul argued.

Marcus chuckled, "No matter how hard anyone tries or what you think, for every step ahead anyone would believe they are, he is always several more ahead."

"We're done listening to your non sense, Scene Shifter. This plan is the we are going with," Raoul said dismissing him.

"Vicompte," Marcus began only to be cut off.

"We're going through with my revised plan! We will no longer be listening to you seeing as to how you have been in cahoots with the Opera Ghost," Raoul said and then walked away with the others.

Marcus looked into one of the paintings and told Meg that he would be back.

"I must try and speak with your father. Try and warn him or perhaps talk sense into him," he said and gave her a kiss. "I love you."

He ran to the secret door at the bottom of the stairs and headed down to the catacombs. After a few moments, Meg attempted to follow him. She was suddenly stopped by her mother.

"What is it you think you are doing? Have we not talked about this before?" she asked.

"Marcus has gone down there to speak with my father to tell him of the Vicompte's plan. Marcus is going to warn him and I must be there with him. He is mad at Marcus for not getting Vicompte out of the way. I'm afraid my father will kill him this time."

Madame Giry stood still for a moment and then looked around. "Go. But this must be the only time. He'll likely kill us both. He doesn't like being spied on or discovered. Just remember that. Remember, keep your hand at the level of your eyes," she informed her daughter.

She then noticed Megs finger. "What's that?" She asked knowing what it was. Meg smiled and blushed.

"Oh my dear daughter… Congratulations. I am truly happy for you," Madame Giry shouted happily and hugged her.

Meg smiled and hugged her back. Madame Giry made sure that Meg did not know that she already knew. She then looked around again and opened the entrance and said, "Quickly Meg!" They both went into the entrance way before Madame Giry slammed it shut.

Marcus had made his way through the booby traps and to the river. He tread though the water up to Erik's lair. He also had no clue that Madame Giry and Meg were not too far behind him. When he arrived, Eric was writing everything out that he planned to have happen. Marcus walked passed the gate with his hand where Madame Giry had repeatedly told him to keep it. At the level of his eyes.

Suddenly he caught a lasso that had been attempted to be thrown around his neck. He looked up with his gritted and was once again struggling with Erik for the rope before getting it away from him and throwing it into the water.

"A lot of nerve you have being down here. You failed the biggest task I gave you! After I allowed you to be with my daughter and gave you my blessing to marry her! Now you show up here without having redeemed yourself? There had better be a damn good reason you're here in my presence now," he screamed at Marcus.

Marcus stood firmly, "There is a damn good reason I have come here. The Vicompte thinks he's a step of ahead of you! He knows you bleed! He thinks he's going to have you arrested because, like everyone else, he knows you will show up. I don't know what you have planned, but don't go through with it. Please. I beg of you. Make him look like a fool and prove him wrong. Then he will leave and Christine will be your Angel again after he looks like a fool," Marcus plead.

"You do think I'm a fool don't you? You think I haven't thought of what they might be planning? How about you stop for a moment and think that I already know what they're up to? How can you forget that I am always steps ahead?" Erik asked him.

Erik then grabbed his sword and Marcus went for his before being kicked in the chest and knocked to the ground. Erik held his sword against Marcus' neck with his teeth gritted. Marcus glared up at him.

"Father, Don't!" they both suddenly heard Meg shouting and Marcus' eyes widened.

Erik looked at her and his eyes widened as well. His mouth dropped open. She looked at him and plead again, "Please…Father…Don't."

Erik looked at her and then at Marcus. He took a breath, grabbed Marcus by the collar, lifted him up, and sneered at him, "What I choose to do with my theater is what I please when they think they can play such games."

He threw him into the water. Meg waded up to Marcus and helps him up. Erik saw the engagement ring on her finger and stood up strait. He pointed to the entrance of his lair and turned around! Madame Giry stayed still as Marcus and Meg left. Erik turned around and was taken aback.

"It's been some time, Madame Giry."

"That it has been." She replied. "Monsieur Levesque didn't fail you and you know it. Your obsession with Christine Daa'e has driven you to a bad place. Worse than the way you were when we first met. Why has it gone this far?" she asked concerned.

He just scoffed. "You may very well have been in this building before me, but this is more than about me now. This is about what happens when you defy the one person who is the reason this Op'era House is even still open! They'll learn. I can give and I can take away! As for you, we have not spoken in how long now? What brought you down here? Why did she come here?" he asked. But before Madame Giry could answer he carried on. "No matter, I see you here again; you will end up like the rest! Mother of my daughter or not, My lasso will tighten around your neck," he warned.

Madame Giry just shook her head, "May God take pity upon you old friend," and quickly made her way out of the lair. Erik began to look at his replica of the stage and dress the figures. He set them in the order of how he wanted them for Don Juan Triumphant. He even painted them. His plan was coming to fruition.

The next week it was time for Don Juan Triumphant to premier before another sold out house. Before going to the catwalks, Marcus went to the make up room to see Meg. She was the only one in there. He sat next to her while she re-buttoned the top two buttons of her tunic. He took her hand and looked at her calmly.

"Meg, I am worried about tonight. If something happens, I want you to remember, I love you! I fought this hard to be with you, I will fight harder to keep you. But if I have to, I will kill your father to stop him to save this Op'era House and to save Christine. Most of all, to keep you safe! If I have to instead give my life to save you all, then I will. Just to know you're safe."

She looked back at him and cupped his cheek in her hand. "Marcus, I don't want that to happen. I love you so much. I hope you don't have kill him. More so, I truly hope you won't have to give your life stop my father. That would not be a good thing for us. Especially come summer time," she told him.

"What does this summer have to do with anything? What will happen this summer?" he asked.

"We must be married before the summer. If we are not, I'll be cast out and my mother may kill you if she finds out before we are married," she answered to him with a nervous smile and a blush creeping up her cheeks.

"Meg! You mean?" he asked taken aback.

She placed his hand on her stomach as she nodded her head yes and they shared a long kiss.

"Why didn't you?" he asked but was cut off.

"I just found out this morning," she answered.

He rubbed her stomach. "I promise, for all the sake of all involved, I will survive this night and spend the rest of my life, protecting yours. Even if I become disfigured, it will not keep me away. I truly will always be here."

"I love you Marcus."

"We shall marry in two weeks time," he proudly whispered in her ear.

"I can not wait," she happily whispered back.

Madame Giry went to the lair once again to see if Erik really had gone insane enough to burn down the opera house. She stood at the entrance way and looked in. She saw Erik maneuvering the figures and listened to him talking to himself about the plan Marcus told him about. She heard him say, "Now the joke has worn thin! It's time for my opera to begin!" She was startled when he took a candle and set fire to the model. She gasped and ran up the stairs.

Raoul was walking through the hallway with Christine. He saw Marcus and Meg smiling and constantly touching her stomach. He rolled his eyes and knocked on the door frame. They looked at him and their smiles went away. He asked if they were ready. Neither answered him. Marcus just glared. Raoul ignored the glare when he saw Meg's engagement ring.

"Well, congratulations," he said flatly and exited the room.

Christine came in and expressed her nervousness to them. She hugged Meg tightly while trying not to cry. They both comforted her.

"If anything happens, I will be behind Raoul to rescue you," he promised.

To distract her, they let her in on the secret of Meg's pregnancy. But before too much excitement could take place. Madame Giry then knocked on the door frame and they all reluctantly went to the stage with her. Marcus gave Meg a kiss and went to the catwalk. Marcus couldn't shake his fear that the night was going to met with devastation.

Don Juan Triumphant began with the chorus and La Carlotta singing. Then Piangi and two others took to the stage. Marcus was keeping a vigilant eye from the catwalk when he thought he spotted someone from backstage sneak into the hut where Piangi was changing his outfit. He tried to deliver a warning for Piangi not to go in. Meg heard him and tried to deliver the warning but was up too late when Piangi went in.

Marcus looked down at Meg and Madame Giry when the cloaked man walked out of the hut. They looked up at him concerned. They all knew it was Erik. They hoped Christine would know it too. They saw Erik stand still and look around. Marcus trembled in fear when Erik spotted the police. He looked up to the catwalk when it set in that Marcus really was warning him. He shook it off and began singing "Point Of No Return."

They all watched as Christine and Erik sang to each other. Marcus saw Christine reach for Erik's mask once or twice before being turned around with her back against him. Marcus figured out what she was trying to do and quickly tied one end a rope around his waist and the other to the railing. All they could do was stand and watch and wonder what Erik was going to do. They feared the worst.

Erik sang the verse, "That's all I ask of…" when Christine interrupted him by pulling off his mask and wig. Marcus saw Meg scream and cradle her mother. Marcus screamed from the catwalk for everyone to run! Suddenly Erik cut a rope and Marcus feared for his life when the chandelier crashed to the stage. When Erik grabbed Christine and opened the trap door, Marcus stepped to the edge of the catwalk and kicked off. He rappelled into the fake fire pit. Barely making through the trap door that lead into the catacombs.

Madame Giry saw him and prayed he knew what he was doing. Raoul demanded to be taken to the catacombs so he could go after his bride to be. Meg was told to stay and keep the crowd back. She told everyone no and to stay back. Once her mother was out of site Meg switched gears.

"If you insist on going after the Opera Ghost then first we must calm down and get organized!" she shouted. "Bring the police and remember, we can not kill him," she instructed the mob. Despite their anger, they agreed while Andre and Firmin made their way to the front of the mob and egged them on.

"He'll stand trial for what he has done!" The mob reluctantly agreed and they followed Meg. Andre and Firmin began shouting, "Track down this murderer!" Meg moved slowly. Hoping to give Marcus and Raoul enough time to get to her father first.
Madame Giry came back and saw the mob. She gasped and ran to the nearest exit at the back of the Op'era House.
