"Thursday, January 21, 1988. Iduna Singleir has given her baby to the orphanage and the baby's name is Elsa." Manny held the paper that Scar had just handed to him that morning. He read the paper with a beaming face, as if he had found a solution to all of the legal problems that had plagued Jamie.

"Yes, Sir. And the Winters family adopted her when she was twelve." Scar added, smiling. There was a hint of pride on his face when he saw his master pleased with his work.

Manny laughed evilly, he was very satisfied because he knew something very important and useful for his sake. "So, that crazy lawyer is that old prostitute's biological daughter?"

"Yes, and I'm sure, that lawyer doesn't know that that old prostitute is her biological mother." Bernard chimed in. In his head was already starting to formulate a plan that might work.

"That's right!" Manny slammed the paper on his desk and stared at Jo Bernard. "Bernard! You go to that old bitch. Threaten her! Make her leave that crazy lawyer, or we'll break the secret. Or, her daughter would die slowly and be sure that her death would be very painful." He said with a vile smile. At last he got the glimmer of possibility that he could free his son from the murder case.

What Manny said was exactly what Bernard thought. He nodded his head, prepared to button his jacket and rose to his feet. "Yes, Sir. I really understand what you meant. Really understand." He said. And before he walked out of Manny's room, he took the time to nod his head one more time as a sign that he would carry out his orders very well.

"Scar." Called Manny when Scar was about to follow Bernard out of the room. Scar stopped immediately and returned to prepare with what Manny would say to him.

"Yes, Sir?"

"What about Alex? Have you done it?"

"Yes, I have, Sir. At this time he may already be in another realm."

"Another realm?" Manny chuckled and his eyes were narrowed. "I liked that."

"And in a few days, I'll be taking care of Alex's wife and family, Sir."

Manny's chuckle turned into a cruel laugh. "Good, good, good. Okay, you do that, Scar."

Scar nodded his head, "Excuse me, Sir." And then left the room.

Manny took the paper again and sat himself in his leather armchair. He stared at it solemnly, this paper would be his favourite item for a while.

"Okay, this is enough, Jack." Elsa put her knife and fork on both sides of her plate. "I'm full." She brought one hand over her mouth and the other lightly pressed the top of her stomach.

Jack watched Elsa for a while as he continued munching on the delicious breakfast that Olina had prepared for him. "But you haven't even had your milk yet." He pointed Elsa's glass of milk with his knife.

Elsa's shoulders slumped, she couldn't understand why Jack was so adamant that she should be able to finish the toast, bacon, sausage, egg and a glass of milk in the morning, not to mention a bowl of fresh fruit. Her regular breakfast was just a toast with butter, sometimes jam or chocolate paste, and a cup of tea. If she had a little extra time, she would ask Olina to prepare some fruit for her.

"Really, Jack?" Elsa asked incredulously. She was already starting to feel her stomach churning painfully from being too full.

"Yes, really. You need the energy, Elsa. You need to eat." Jack said confidently between chews.

"I will throw up if I continue this." Elsa pointed to her plate which still had a little sausage and a slice of bacon which was still untouched. "Please?"

Jack sighed softly. He already knew that Elsa wasn't the type of someone who eat a lot in the morning. But he was just being a little stubborn and wanted Elsa to eat a bit more. He already felt that some of those recent events had started to affect Elsa in her daily life. He remembered Elsa acting like this when she was in college, when exams and assignments piled up. Also, this time Jack felt something else. He felt that Elsa was sometimes lost in her thought and it worried him.

"Okay. But you try to drink your milk little by little. One sip at a time, while waiting for me to finish my breakfast."

Elsa let out a deep breath. She gave up and couldn't argue anymore. If by doing what Jack asked, could make him less fussy, she would do it. She took her glass of milk and placed it in front of her. She already pushed aside her unfinished breakfast. "Alright."

"So, what's your plan for today, Jack?" Elsa tried to change the topic.

Jack put his last slice of sausage in his mouth before finally looking back at Elsa. "Take you to the office, paper works in the morning, and I have an appointment with a client this afternoon."

"Which case?"

"A new one. There is someone who wants a divorce. She called me yesterday and wanted to come to the office today. She said she would come before lunch." Jack said, then wiped his mouth with napkin because he was done with his breakfast.

"She?" Elsa's forehead creased and interested to know who will be Jack's new client.

"Yeah. She told me over the phone that she hasn't lived with her husband in six months. She wants divorce and she demands for palimony." Jack reached for his glass of milk and drained it in just a few gulps. He then looked at Elsa who was staring at him. "You're not going to drink your milk, are you?"

Elsa, who was previously too busy thinking about Jack's new female client, was a little confused by Jack's question. "What?"

Jack smirked seeing Elsa's face. "Your milk. You're not going drink your milk, are you?" He pointed Elsa's glass with his index finger.

"Oh, this. Do I have to? I'm really full, Jack." Elsa winced imagining what would happen if she drank this glass of milk, while her stomach was already full. The expression on her face made Jack sigh in defeat.

"Okay. You don't have to." Jack then got up and took the time to rub Elsa's back gently. "I'll wash my hands first and then we go to the office, yeah?" And without waiting for Elsa's reply, he went to the sink and washed his hands.

As for Elsa, she had to lower her face because she felt her cheeks getting warmer because of a little affection that Jack did to her and she was sure that her pale white skin was not helping to hide her blush.

"You, don't mess around. And don't try to tell anyone about this. Or, I will kill Elsa."

Those words continued to echo in her head when Iduna was again, led into her cell. She had forgotten the name of the man who had just met her when he threatened to kill her daughter if she did not cooperate with his request.

She stared blankly at the floor below because her brain was unable to properly function after the threat. She didn't want anyone to hurt her daughter, much less kill her. What should she do? Asking her not to defend her anymore, of course. But it would hurt her daughter's feelings, because she knew very well that her daughter was determined to win the case. Her daughter firmly believed that she was innocent, and indeed, she was.

She was not aware that she had made her way to her cell when a guard opened the cell door and pushed her in. It was then that she realized that the source of all this problem, it was her. Elsa wouldn't have been dragged into this mess if she had previously insisted on not being defended by her. Elsa's life wouldn't have been in danger if it weren't for her.

"No one can hurt Elsa. No one can hurt my daughter." She muttered that words over and over again.

She looked up and saw Gothel was standing leaning against the wall, watching her sharp nails. She remembered that Gothel told her, she went to jail for killing people. That's it, Elsa would survive if she was no longer in this world, this case would be closed if the prime suspect was no longer alive, at least that was what she thought.

She looked at Gothel emotionlessly and her feet walked closer to her. This was for the best, she couldn't let her daughter get hurt. She didn't stop even though Gothel was quite close to her, instead, she threw her hand towards Gothel's face, and slapped her hard.

"You have to kill me." Iduna said in a very determined voice. She slapped Gothel again. "You have to kill me."

Gothel stared in surprise at Iduna who was like being possessed. But because she was challenged with slaps, she would happily fulfill Iduna's request. Of course, she was a psychopath after all.

"What the hell is wrong with you, bitch?! You want to die? Here, I will make you die." Gothel brought her hand around Iduna's neck and choked her.

Iduna continued to slap her hands blindly, making Gothel even more angry. Gothel's stranglehold got tighter, causing Iduna held Gothel's wrists, gasping for air. The noise and screaming from their cells eventually led the officers to step in and try to stop the fighting.

But when you had to separate a psychopath who was challenged to kill, and someone who was so desperate with her problem that she wanted to get herself killed, it was a very difficult thing to do. Two guards were unable to do it, so they had to ask for backup.

Meanwhile, Elsa and Detective Morris were just entering the interrogation room when they were startled by several officers running towards the connecting door that connected the interrogation room and the cell rooms.

Elsa and Detective Morris exchanged glances and then quickened their steps toward one of the officers who remained on guard at the connecting door.

"What's happening?" Asked Detective Morris.

"There's a fight between prisoners, Sir. Prisoner number 2362 against her cellmate."

Elsa's eyes widened at the prisoner's number mentioned by the officer. She knew very well whose prison number it was.

"That's my client. I need to go inside." Elsa said abruptly as she took a step forward. Her heart was beating fast thinking about what might have happened to Iduna. However, Detective Morris and the officer disagreed. Detective Morris had to hold her arm and the officer stood blocking the door.

"I'm sorry, Miss Winters. I can't let you in. It can be dangerous." Detective Morris said firmly.

Elsa let out a frustrated sigh and tried to get away from Detective Morris. "It's my client who's fighting right now. She could be hurt and I can't stay here waiting. I have to go in and make sure she's okay. I promise to be careful. I beg you, Detective. Please?" Elsa knew that it was the best for her to beg rather than to be pushy. She brought her hands over her chest and pleaded, looking straight into Detective Morris' eyes.

And the efforts were worth it. Detective Morris sighed slowly and rubbed his half bald head. "Okay. But you have to be near me. Stick to me. I also don't want you to get hurt. Understood?" Elsa nodded her head without hesitation. He then ordered the officers to step aside and let them in.

Along the hallway to Iduna's cell, Elsa remained behind Detective Morris. She tried to calm her heartbeat which started beating irregularly. But when she saw Iduna being strangled by her cell mate, while the two officers were still trying to separate Gothel and Iduna, Elsa couldn't hold it anymore.

She stepped past Detective Morris and just as the officer managed to pull Gothel, she bowed before Iduna who was still hysterical screaming for herself to die. She struggled just to grab Iduna's face and make her focus on looking at her.

"Ms. Iduna! You have to calm down. Look at me! Ms. Iduna!" Elsa shouted to keep up with Iduna's screams and she had to make Iduna focus on her eyes. And her shout managed to make Iduna stop screaming at once. Her eyes slowly searched Elsa's and when their eyes met, Iduna's scream turned into sobs.

"Calm down. Okay? You need to calm down. Look at me. It's Elsa, Ms. Iduna. It's Elsa." Said Elsa in a lower voice. She kept trying to calm Iduna down by gently rubbing Iduna's cheeks and keeping her focused on looking into her eyes.

"Elsa?" Asked Iduna finally. Her sobs subsided.

"Yes. It's Elsa." Elsa smiled when she realized that Iduna had calm down a little.

But that was only for a moment. When Iduna realized that the person in front of her was Elsa, her fear skyrocketed. She threw her body hugging Elsa very tightly. She didn't want to let go of Elsa because she was afraid that someone would hurt her.

"No one can hurt my daughter. No one can killed my daughter." Again, Iduna muttered those words, still hugging Elsa tightly.

Elsa was surprised and confused by Iduna's behavior. The last time they met, she thought Iduna was fine and in a good emotional state. However, her priority right now was to calm Iduna down and she could find out what really happened later. So she continued to whisper soothing words and rubbed Iduna's back slowly. She also didn't want to let go of her, not before the woman in her arms calmed down.

"Calm down, okay. It's Elsa. Everything will be alright. Okay? No one is going to hurt your daughter. No one."

"If I'm not mistaken, the last person who met Ms. Singleir is Bernard. Jo Bernard." Said Detective Morris, rubbing his chin. He and Elsa were now in his office having previously managed to control the situation and Iduna had completely calmed down.

"Bernard?" Elsa's brows furrowed trying to remember whether she had ever heard that name or not.

"Yes. He is the Frost family lawyer. Since we involved Jamie Frost in this case, he has the same right to interrogate Ms. Singleir."

"Is it possible that he threatened Ms. Singleir?" Elsa said what was on her mind. This scenario was the most likely to happen because she had just met Iduna yesterday. And she was fine. As far as she knew, no one had met Iduna but her. And now a man named Bernard appeared.

Detective Morris seemed to be considering Elsa's assumptions. Though in the end, he shook his head slowly. "I don't think so, Miss Winters. Because he came and asked us permission in a kind way."

"Then why is Ms. Singleir behaving like that?" Elsa was still not fully convinced.

Detective Morris could not answer Elsa's question because he himself was confused how could Iduna behave like that. Everyone who wanted to meet Iduna, had to get his permission so that he knew who met her. He also felt Elsa's assumption was reasonable, but he couldn't say much without any evidence.

As if knowing that Detective Morris would not answer her questions, Elsa decided to end her visit and leave. "Alright. Thank you again, Detective. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a good day." And with that, she walked towards the door and left the police station.

Manny's laughter filled his study. Jamie stood next to him, while Bernard and Scar sat across from him. He slammed his hands on the table and rose to his feet. He then took a sip of his cigar and laughed again.

"Good. That old bitch would rather leave her lawyer than we break her secret and kill her daughter." Manny said in satisfaction.

"That's right." Bernard peeled off the plastic wrap around his cigar. "She definitely didn't want her daughter's career to be ruined. Because she would be a disgrace to her own daughter. Now think about it, which mother in the world wants her daughter's career to be ruined or her daughter get hurt?" He chuckled, stroking his cigar. "No one." He laughed and began to lit his cigar.

"You are correct, Bernard. One shot and that crazy lawyer will be dead." Manny then turned to Jamie, he put his arm around Jamie's shoulder and pulled him closer. "Jamie, you take it easy now. If that crazy lawyer leaves this case, you'll be safe and free from this case." He patted Jamie's shoulder slightly.

Jamie couldn't hide his relief, he chuckled and looked at his father. "Thank you, Dad."

"Miss Elsa, do you want me to buy a take away lunch for you? It's past lunch time." Kai asked when he was almost reach the drop off area. They headed straight to the office after leaving the police station.

Elsa looked up from her laptop and looked around. She had just realized that they had arrived at the office. "Oh, we are at the office already. It's okay, Kai. I'll ask Jack first, if he has eaten or not. I can go with him." She turned off her laptop and put it in the laptop bag. "You can go home, Kai. I'll be fine. I'll cal you if I need anything."

"As your wish, Miss." Kai pulled the handbrake and stopped the car. He then immediately went out to open the door for Elsa.

"Thank you." Elsa got out of the car and then got into the building. She really wanted to meet Jack to tell him what had happened to Iduna earlier and she was very sure that the man named Bernard was the one who caused Iduna to behave strangely like that.

Elsa went straight to Jack's room and found it empty. She didn't remember Jack telling her that he was leaving this afternoon. Jack did mention that he would meet a client this afternoon, but she remembered that it was his client who would come to the office. Not the other way around. She then went to Lucy's desk to ask her about Jack's whereabouts.

"Lucy, do you know where Jack is?" Asked Elsa as soon as she reached Lucy's desk.

"Oh, Mr. Jack has left with his client about an hour ago." Answered Lucy, stood up from her seat.

Elsa frowned, she then checked her cell phone to see if Jack had messaged her or not. "His client?"

"Yes, Miss. He left with Miss Cece. Looks like they went to lunch."

"Cece?" Elsa was confused now.

"Her name is Cecilia but she insist to be called Cece." Lucy giggled and brought her hand over her mouth. While Elsa, she raised an eyebrow because she found no humour in Lucy's words. "Oh, there he is Mr. Jack." Lucy pointed towards the lobby. The position of the desk right at the end of the hall, giving her a clear view of the Lobby.

Hearing that Jack has returned, Elsa smiled and turned around to welcome him. But what she saw beyond her expectations. There Jack was with a tall woman, tan skinned, with black hair and bangs that flattened her eyebrows, kissing each other's cheeks. Her smile disappeared.

Elsa's heart felt like it was being squeezed at the sight. What she saw was completely unexpected. And she herself was surprised that what she saw could affect her so much. What she really wanted to do right now was lock herself in her room and finish her works. Today was hard enough for her and she didn't need this. At all.

Jack paced back and forth in front of Elsa's room door. He hadn't seen Elsa since this afternoon because Elsa's door was locked from the inside. It was unusual. He tried to knock on Elsa's room door, but only a reply from inside stated that she was busy and didn't want to be disturbed. It was nine o'clock at night and Elsa still hadn't come out of her room.

Jack was just about to knock again when suddenly the door opened. Elsa appeared from inside the room holding her cellphone. She was so serious about what she was reading, so she was a little surprised when Jack suddenly greeted her.

"Hi." Jack didn't know how to greet her because Jack found this really awkward. Elsa's behaviour made him awkward and curious about what happened between them. He already knew how Elsa's behaviour when she was sad, angry, happy, busy with work and even when she was in her worst state of mind. And Elsa never locked the door of her room from the inside. Even if she did that, Elsa always let him in.

Jack couldn't read what kind of emotion on Elsa's face when she looked up at him. He saw how Elsa's eyes were on the phone screen once again and how she sighed softly.

"Hi, Jack." Elsa answered curtly. She put her cell phone in her bag and said nothing more.

Jack frowned, this is not right. "Come on, I'll take you home. You want to go home, right?" He tried to make his voice sound normal and tried not to sound worried and curious about Elsa's behaviour today.

And to his surprise, Elsa shook her head. "There's no need, Jack. Kai is waiting for me in the car. Good night." She then walked past Jack to the Lobby.

Okay, something's really wrong. "Elsa." Jack called out to her and this time made her stop and turn around. But still said nothing more. "What's wrong with you? Is there any problem between us?" He couldn't take it anymore and he had to know why Elsa was acting weird.

"Problem?" Elsa asked back, emotionless. "No, there is no problem between us. It's just that, I've asked Kai to pick me up." She fake smiled.

"Yes, but usually I'm the one who takes you ho-"

"Not for tonight, Jack. Thank you." Another fake smile. "Okay, I'll go home. I don't want to make Kai wait any longer." She turned around and about to leave while Jack still didn't satisfied with Elsa's answer. He sensed something was definitely off.

"Elsa." He called one more time.

"What?!" Again, Elsa turned around and her face looked annoyed.

"Are you sure? That there's no problem between us?"

Elsa let out a deep breath. "Jack, there is no problem between us. But if you feel there is a problem between us, it means that the problem is you."

Jack was taken aback by the firmness of Elsa's words. Elsa had scolded him, had arguments with him, and even raised her voice when she didn't agree with him. But this, he just experienced it. He sensed there was anger and something else.

"Good night." Said Elsa again after giving Jack a piercing cold glare.

She immediately turned around and left Jack, who for a moment didn't know what to say. And indeed at that moment there was nothing to say. He knew better not to force Elsa because if he did that, it might make Elsa hold back even more and that, was much worse than this. Maybe Elsa had a bad day. Or maybe, he did something wrong?

What did I do wrong?

"Good night, Els." He said into the cold air before him.
