Thanks for the reviews.

I had to bring Adam into the story just to add more complications for Eddie. Some of you don't like it but trust me I do have a way where I'm going with this.

There might be a happy ending for Rachel at the end of it but with which man, who knows? We shall see.

Enjoy and please review

Sat in the waiting room twiddling her thumbs, she could feel a panic attack was upon her. Taking in everything going on around her, the sound of the clock ticking, screaming children not that, that bothered her. It was the smell, the smell of the hospital and the memories it brought back. She didn't want to be here but she needed to speak to the doctor, wishing he would call her name soon it felt like she had been there for hours waiting. Her chest starting to feel tight and the walls were caving in on her, suffocating. She rose to her feet and grabbed her things..

"Rachel Mason" he called offering a kind gestured smile

Rachel looked over towards the Doctor and then gazed at the exit, contemplating what to do. He walked over to her

"Are you ok?"

"Me, yes I'm fine. I'm just...

Placing a hand on her chest

"I'm struggling to breathe, I think I'm having a panic attack"

He placed an arm around her shoulder, offering her support "come with me, let's get you into my office. I mean if you're having a panic attack you're in the best place really"

Both smiling. He sat her down and made her a glass of water. Kneeling down in front of her, offering her all his attention and maintaining eye contact, he started doing the breathing techniques with her.

After a good ten minutes Rachel soon calmed down and returned a smile and thank you over at Doctor Smith, who was now sat in his arm chair opposite Rachel.

"Right before we start, please call me William. I think we've known each other long enough that we can call each other by our first names hey?"

Rachel let out a little chuckle "yes I think we have. Ok then William" she smiled

Smiling back "that's better. Now would like to begin and tell me what's happening. I mean it's been a long time since I saw you and I read in your file that you didn't go ahead with the plastic surgery. How are you coping?"

"Gosh where do I start. Hmm well

Letting out a nervous laugh

"Well, firstly the surgery on my scar, I thought well I know I don't want it, not yet anyway. I don't want to remove something that is reminding me that I do have a story; a memory somewhere in my brain that is eager to get out and tell me what happened."

Raising both her hands up, stopping him from speaking

"I know people have told me, but that doesn't matter does it? Because I cannot remember.

Tears started to fall from her face, William handed her a tissue and then sat back in his chair allowing her to carry on

"Maybe one day I will have the surgery, but that's not until my memory comes back if it ever does come back. So until that day, I have decided I'm keeping it because I have this scar and it proves to me I do have a past and gives me the strength in wanting my memory to return. To find out what actually happened."

Nodding is head in agreement to what she just said and taking notes "ok, that's good to know. I mean it is your decision and I think you've completely thought about it and there is no wrong or right choice."

"Yes I have." Letting out a big sigh

"Want to talk about it?"

Rachel looked down towards her lap "it's Eddie"

"Right.." not wanting to ask the question but hoping she would elaborate if he gave her time

"Eddie Lawson. He came into where I worked on Saturday, yesterday. He had lunch and then stayed to have a few drinks. He seemed nice, well he was really nice and we really hit it off, I felt like I could blurt out everything about me as he gave that impression I could trust him with anything.."

"That's a good thing thought right?"

"Yes, but that's not it. When I handed him his drink we accidentally touched hands. I had these flashbacks.."

"Flashbacks?"

"Yeah, flashbacks. Not of him, but a voice. When I was in my coma I heard a voice, a mans voice. I don't know who it was, I mean it could be a dream. But when I touched Eddie, that voice came back to me. Melissa, mentioned an Eddie Lawson to me and at the time I had no idea who he was, I still don't. Other than I went on a date with him yesterday."

"Do you think you might have known this man in your early past life?"

"I don't know, I think so. I don't know what to do, I just want my memories back"

"I know you do and it does take time Rachel. Well it seems to me that this man Eddie, he's giving you flashbacks of memories. That is good! He could be part of the puzzle to getting your memories back. I don't want to get your hopes up, but it is a good sign and maybe in time they will all start to fit back together again. Have you spoken to Eddie?"

"Not about this, no. I want to ask him so many questions. But with Adam walking in and then Eddie mentioning his surname, I just had to get out of there. I panicked."

"Adam?"

Rachel laughed "yeah, Adam Fleet. He's an old friend of mine, we went to school together. He was much bigger back then but he's lost all this weight and..well he looks fantastic. He was at the pub where me and Eddie went for drinks and he noticed me and came over, he wants to take me out and have a catch up."

Glancing up from his notes, he didn't want to tell Rachel that maybe that wasn't a good idea. But it was none of his business really. If she wanted to get her memories back, seeing Adam wouldn't help that; she can remember him; it'll just put her memories on pause.

"You seem a little frustrated?"

"Well I really got on with Eddie and he's a nice guy, seems to have a heart of gold really. But seeing Adam, just brought all these feelings back. Just going through a bit of boy drama I think, I'll figure it out" she tapped her knees and smiled.

"I'm sure you will

Smiling back at her

"Before you leave Rachel just one more thing. Speak to Eddie, it won't do you any harm."

Moving her eyes up and down, she offered a smile grabbed her things and made her way to the door. Giving a small wave and left.

It was Monday morning and Eddie was sat in his office finishing off signing the risk assessments for a school trip Tom had planned for his football team at the end of the week.

"Morning Mate. Good weekend?" Tom said walking into the office, usually he'd knock but Eddie had left his door open

Looking up "ah morning Tom. Just finished signing these risk assessments for you, you're good to go now on Friday." Avoiding the question about his weekend

"Brilliant. Sure the lads will enjoy it, closest they've been to a stadium is watching it on the tele. How did it go with Rachel on Saturday?"

Eddie let out a disappointed sigh "Adam bloody Fleet"

"Hey?"

"Well Saturday was perfect. I took her bowling considering it was our first kind of date we ever had before, when we were meant to take Phillip but he bailed. Thought it would bring back memories"

"And did it?" Tom then took a seat knowing this will be a long conversation no doubt

Eddie rolled his eyes "don't think so. But we nearly kissed, we had a moment. I think she panicked but that doesn't matter, I don't want to rush her."

"Ok, what does this have to do with Adam Fleet?"

"We went to the pub afterwards and there he was, he walked over to us. He called her Amanda"

"Amanda?

Tom then remembering the spelling bee competition

"Oh. That means he's known her for a long time then. Does she remember him?"

"Yes! She bloody remembers him. That's what hurts Tom. How can I compete with that? She was all giddy after they spoke and then she just up and left me and I haven't hear from her since."

"Ah come on Eddie, it'll be alright. Why don't you just pick up the phone and speak to her?"

"I can't. What's the point, she's got Adam now. I'm just a stranger who she met at a restaurant and took her out bowling"

"A stranger who she had a moment with, a stranger she nearly kissed!! That's got to tell you something? It's still there Eddie, the feelings; the spark between you both. She may not remember yet but for you both to have that moment, it's there. You've just got to fight for it and don't give up. Don't let this Adam guy win, if he's still calling her Amanda they obviously haven't seen each other in years have they?"

"But what am I supposed to do Tom? How do I get her memory back?"

"Well I'm no professional in that matter but just be yourself, maybe start to tell her. Don't come on too much but baby steps, talk about this place, the kids. Soon enough it'll come back, and soon she'll be running this place again. Be about time to..

Looking over at Eddie pile of paperwork

"This head is a bit slow with his paperwork" raising to his feet and running to the door

"Ey!! Rachel was the best at this, I hated the paperwork. My field was more accounts with my brilliant math skills. But thanks Tom, means a lot. Catch you later"

She was glad to have the house to herself today with Phillip at school and Melissa, well she had no idea where Melissa was but she didn't care; with everything going on she wanted alone time and didn't question or worry where he sister had gotten to.

Heading down the stairs and strolling into the kitchen, she switched the kettle on prepared herself a mug of coffee. Waiting for it to boil she went over to the fridge and grabbed herself coconut yoghurt and made a bowl with blueberries, grapes and some granola on top and a tea spoon of honey to sweeten the taste. Kettle boiled she poured the hot water into her mug, grabbed her bowl of yoghurt and heading towards the living room. There was a knock at the door. Frustration she quickly placed her mug and bowl on the living room table, a little peed off that she wasn't getting a quiet morning that she had hoped for. She quickly glanced in the hall mirror to make sure she looked at least half decent considering she was still in her pyjamas and then unlocked and opened the door

"Adam! What are you doing here?" Confused look, but stepping back and allowing him to come inside

"Rachel, hi. I bumped into your sister in town, she was on her way to the hairdressers

No surprise there

"She gave me your address and told me you'd be home, so thought I'd pop by. Hope you don't mind?"

Yes I wanted a morning to myself

"No not at all, take your coat off. Do you fancy a hot drink? The kettle just boiled"

"Coffee would be great, ta. Milk no sugar"

Smiling "ok, that a seat in there

Gesturing towards the living room

"I'll bring it through"

Tilting her head back and rolling her eyes. She really didn't need this right now. Even if it was good to see Adam again after all this time but she really needed to think and to do that she needed to be alone. She still hadn't contacted Eddie after Saturday and felt guilty because of it. She really had a lot of explaining to do.

"There you go"

"Ah thanks Rach. So how've you been? It was great seeing you on Saturday"

Grabbing her coffee she sat back on the sofa

"Yeah I'm doing ok, day off today so thought I'd just ponder around here and catch up on some house work. Yes you too!! It's been a while"

"I wasn't interrupting a date was I?"

Adam really wanted to know more, he felt a little jealous as he's always had feelings for a Rachel, she's what made him want to change; lose all the weight and find her again hoping she would reconsider.

"No, no he's just a friend. We were just catching up over a quiet drink"

Sipping her coffee, it was a small lie she told, it was a date but the friends part is probably true, it definitely wouldn't be more now after the way she left that night. Thinking back to her appointment with William, he was right, she does need to be honest with Eddie.

"Great"

Rachel shot him a look

"Not like that, a woman like you should be going on loads of dates. Just great because well, I was hoping I could take you out some time? And now that I know that I wasn't interrupting anything on Saturday, well I hope I've got a chance?"

Rachel didn't know where to look, there was something about Adam that pulled her in and wanted to get to know him more, not that she didn't already but he has changed since she last knew him. He was still kind and caring how she remembered him and they had a lot of fun memories together.

"We don't have to call it a date either, if you don't want to. Just two friends catching up.."

"Yes"

"Yeah?"

"Yeah, I want to go out on a date with you"

Not knowing what came over her, she immediately leant towards him and just like that, they shared a long passionate kiss.
