Chapter 8-Answers
I sat there patiently waiting for my future or my doom. I wasn't sure when an earlier thought hit me again. Well two of them. Okay if I was being honest I had a lot of thoughts and I was more than a little embarrassed that the prince most likely would see every one and I found it funny that he hadn't run.
He was without a doubt the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and the more I was around him the more things I felt. The strings that seemed to connect us which I still believed were a hallucination just kept getting brighter and the buzzing I felt earlier kept getting stronger and no matter where he was in the room, it was like my body angled towards him.
"So if you're a mind reader how come you never said anything about my dreams that I was thinking about?" I challenged him and hoped that he wouldn't say anything too embarrassing.
"I never could read your mind" he said and I felt a little smug.
"It was frustrating to know you wanted or needed something but not know what. I learned your cries, we all did" he explained and I nodded
"And the ma...t...e thing?" I stuttered
"Bella" he said softly but hearing him call me that sounded wrong.
"When a vampire finds his mate, it's instant, the connection is unbreakable and forever. We know immediately. Your parents knew immediately as did all the other couples. I was alone for nearly one hundred years and then the moment you were born it was like a light beam went through me and I hit the wall. Don't misunderstand, when you were born I loved you instantly but it was like a brother.
"He ran away" Alice chuckled and I looked at him in shock
He ran a hand through his bronze locks and sighed. "Yes it's true. I was petrified. As soon as they placed you in my arms it was like I was hit with a bullet" he explained.
"He had this goofy grin on his face and then the next thing we know he was thrusting you back at us and took off like his ass was on fire" Emmett laughed while Edward looked down in embarrassment.
"It was unheard of in our world. I knew immediately what you were and what you would be as you got older. I was scared that my family would try to keep us apart and that Emmett and Rose would tear me apart so I ran" he said and I smiled, he was so sweet.
"How long were you gone?" I asked
"Three weeks. I came back with a new pair of running sneakers on and was ready to bolt at the first sign" he said
"We weren't happy about it at first, we just had you and didn't want to share but you were just as connected to him even as an infant and it was a great help. You were quite the little terror" Rosalie said and everyone laughed.
"The night you disappeared was devastating to us all and I have been scouring the earth for you. The moment I stepped out of the car I felt the same buzz, the same electricity, maybe more intense than I did the day you were born. I have searched this earth for sixteen years and here you are. I don't need a test to know what I know in here" he said, placing a hand on his chest.
I was so moved. I didn't know I was crying again until he wiped away my tears!
"I don't need a test either, I know my daughter when I see her, sense her and you are my little Isabelle" Princess Rosalie said and wrapped me in her arms.
We all stayed quiet for a while, I was too emotionally drained to keep going and then Jasper came back with an envelope and handed it to the king.
He opened it up and it seemed like everyone was holding their breath and then he said it
"Princess Isabelle has been found. Welcome back little one" I gasped and then broke down crying.
I couldn't believe it, I was a vampire. I had been kidnapped. Thoughts of Renee or Renata or whoever crossed my mind and I was pissed.
How dare they steal me from my home, my family and then keep me a secret, feed me lies and try to make me human.
"You okay little one?" The king asked and I realized I was growling.
"She's a shield" Jasper gasped and my growling stopped in my confusion.
"How do you know that?" Ben asked
"She's blocking me, I can't get a read on her" he explained and I growled again, they weren't making sense.
"Calm down sweetheart, the captain here can read and manipulate emotions. He was trying to calm you and you seem to be blocking him" Prince Emmett or rather my real dad said
"Of course. Why did we not see it before, how else would she be able to keep Edward out?" Carlisle exclaimed and I was still confused but then Rosalie or my mom wrapped her arm around me with a smile and I snuggled into her chest automatically. I never had this kind of affection with Renee or Renata, ugh things were just so screwed up.
"So what happens now?" I asked
"You come back to Volterra where you belong" Emmett stated like it was the easiest thing.
"I have school here, friends" I stammered looking at Angela.
"Bells, I'll be there as soon as we graduate" Angela said
"Nonsense, Angela, you can come back with us. I'm sure we can work something out and if you two want to finish school and graduate we can work something out with the school here or in Italy" King Carlisle said
"But what about my par...Ren...Renata and Char...Chuck. Whoever the hell they are. I know they kidnapped me but I want the chance to at least see them, ask questions, I'm owed that much and they did raise me so I owe them too" I stated
"She's going to make a fine queen" Jasper said and I balked. Queen!
"Alright, well let's make some arrangements. Ben you can escort Ms. Weber and my grand-daughter back home and help them deal with everything" The king said
"We're coming too" Edward and both my real parents shouted
"Guys I don't think that's a good idea. I know you want to help but Renata and Chuck or rather Renee and Charlie might do something dangerous, they might hurt Isabelle" Carlisle said
"Dad, with all due respect, my daughter is not facing those people alone and we also need closure. I want to know why they did it" Emmett stated and both Edward and Rosalie nodded in agreement.
The king sighed heavily and nodded and the next thing I knew we were in a big black vehicle that sort of resembled a truck.
"Where to your highness?" the driver asked and all eyes looked at Angela and I but Ben gave them the address first and I forgot he had been there before.
We all got comfortable in the back seat and I found it strange how relaxed I felt with them, I hardly knew them yet here I was wedged between Emmett and Rosalie, one holding my hand and the other with her arm around my shoulder with my head on her shoulder just humming while Edward looked on in enjoyment.
They told me about everything that happened when I disappeared and everything I never got to know about them growing up. Angela laughed at the stories they told of me as a baby and toddler and I learned that I get my pout and stubbornness from Rosalie...my mom.
Too soon we were pulling up the curb and both Angela and Ben left the car with Angela telling me that she will talk to me soon.
We left again and my nerves which were already shot threatened to consume me and I became ill.
"Relax sweetheart" my real mom said "We'll let you go in by yourself and when the time is right, we'll make our presence known okay? You have nothing to worry about, if for one second we think it's going to be bad we'll jump in sooner" I nodded and steeled myself to get out of the car. It was well after midnight now and I knew that all hell was going to break loose
"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?" Renee or whatever the hell her name was screamed
"IT'S ALMOST TWO IN THE MORNING" she ranted and Charlie, Chuck just stood there with her and I tried to keep my emotions at bay.
"You've got some explaining to do young lady" he said
"That's rich" I chuckled darkly "I would say you two have some serious explaining to do"
The both looked at me with shock and anger but I was too pissed. I had some idea of what to say to them on the way here but that had gone out the window.
"Watch your tone young lady" Chuck, Charlie, whatever hissed and I growled
"Bella, normal girls do not growl" Renee sneered and I bent over laughing hysterically
"But I'm not normal am I?" I growled again and wanted to crouch and pounce
"What the hell are you talking about?" Renee shouted
"I was in Seattle, not Port Angeles" I hissed and they both sucked in a breath
"Afraid I was going to run into some old associates Ma?" I spat
"Why did you do it?" I asked just wanting answers
"What are you talking about?" Chuck asked while Renee shook
"Yes I would like to know the same thing" I heard from the door as my real parents and Edward came in
"Renata, Chuck, been a long time" Emmett stated
"YOU!" both Chuck and Renata shouted.
"Get out of our house" Renata sneered
"Oh we will very soon. I have some questions first so sit down" Rosalie or Mom yelled and Renata and Chuck stood there boldly
"Now kids we can do this the easy way or the hard way" Emmett or rather dad said
"I'm the Chief of Police, I will have you arrested" Chuck shouted and Edward whipped out a cell phone
"I have the governor on speed dial so go ahead, call them. I'm sure they would love to see the photos of your heist sixteen years ago and the abduction of the future queen" Edward hissed, handing Chuck the phone while I chose to ignore that queen comment, I was not ready to process that yet.
"I'm sure Dad could get the president on the phone right now" my mom stated and Renata and Chuck were white as sheets.
"Why?" I asked. I just wanted to know but they never said a thing and I growled long and low. I was so pissed off.
"Chuck, Renata, you may want to start talking, Isabelle's instincts are becoming more prevalent and I would be careful right now" Edward stated
"We needed money and you had more than you knew what to do with. What's a few pieces to sell?" Renata scoffed and I growled louder and both had the decency to look scared.
"Why did you take me? Why remove me from my parents and then lie to me all these years, keep me hidden away and force me to be normal and nearly have me die due to the sun? Why subject me to all those tests when you knew who I was, what I was?" I spat and I could feel the house starting to shake.
"Don't be so dramatic Bella" Renee or whatever her name was scoffed and I lunged but my real dad held me tight to his chest, his own growl building. Edward pulled out a phone and then two more men, vampires I assumed, entered the house.
"Put them in the other car, I want them taken to Seattle and then loaded on the plane and taken back to Volterra. Felix, contact my father, let him know what went on here and to contact the FBI office, the police station here and anyone else he needs" Edward commanded like the future king he would be.
"Unhand me demon. I am the chief of police" Chuck yelled as they dragged him towards the door.
All eyes were on him so no one saw when Renata grabbed me. My real dad had let go a bit and she managed to grab me away from him.
"No one is going anywhere" Renata said darkly while the glimmer of a knife was drawn in front of me.
Fuck!
