Chapter 9 ~
Star Trek Remembrance
The Ragoreyn
On DS9 ~
"Do you know anything about it?" Odo asks Quark.
"About, the Stasis Chamber? You are just going to ignore the intruder that just walked into command, from space?" Quark questions. He was a bit beside himself.
"We aren't ignoring it, Quark," Odo chastises him, "We can't do anything about our visitor until he decides to come back. But you, are here, now," Odo glares at him.
"Seriously, how do we know that being wasn't what was in the Stasis Chamber?" Kira asks.
"We don't," Sisko answers for everyone.
"What do you know about it?" Odo asks Quark.
"Other than it's age?"
"Uh, hang on," Kira says looking at a read out on her Ops Station.
"What now?" O'Brien asks.
"Looks like I am getting a reading of an Emergency Station 15 being activated. I'll bring up the video." Kira pushes a few buttons and the main view screen changes to video from that Emergency Station's area.
A video begins to play of a crewman working. A moment later a large unknown being starts to attack the crewman when a cloaked, shadowy figure emerges and defends the crewman. The shadow kicks the aggressive being over the railing and then leans down to the crewman. The shadow then activates the emergency Station beacon, steps off camera and then a portion of the shadow is seen walking away while carrying something.
"What was that?!" Quark asks.
"Was he Injured? Was the cloaked figure injured?" O'Brien asks
"I can't tell," Odo says.
"Constable," Sisko says, "We need to get assistance to that injured man," he says, "and see if you can locate that unknown helper."
"On it," Odo says turning to O'Brien, "Have a security and medical team meet me there," he says to O'Brien. He then turns to Quark, "This isn't finished, yet," Odo sneers at Quark.
Quark watches Odo get on the lift and head down to the crewman, "I didn't think it was, Constable."
"I guess we found what was in your Stasis Chamber," Kira says to Quark.
"I hope not," Quark mutters.
On the Enterprise~
The officers have assembled in the Ready Room, with Q.
"Explain yourself, Q. What do you mean something was attacking the Continuum?" Riker says to Q.
"We are fighting the battle of our lifetime. There is a viscous species currently attacking us, in our home world. They have the ability to transport, similar to Q."
"They can appear and disappear anywhere, at will?" Picard clarifies.
Q nods.
"Are they conquerors?" Worf asks.
"Yes, and no," Q says, "They are destroyers. That is their main purpose is to destroy everything that is not their species. And right now, they have chosen Q as their next target."
Riker looks at Picard, "If they have the ability to attack Q then…"
"Then all other species are in terrible danger as well," Picard finishes his sentence.
"Not all species," Q corrects them.
"Meaning?" Riker asks.
"This beings natural enemy happens to be in your Sickbay, at this moment," Q answers with a grin.
"And he will remain in my Sickbay until he is healed," Doctor Crusher says from the opened doorway.
Q stands, "I don't think you know what you are dealing with."
"I don't think you know how I am when it comes to my patients. I am not letting him do anything until he is better, and this discussion is over."
Q turns to Picard, "What did you ever see in her?" He never could understand humans and their mating rituals.
"Why you…" Doctor Crusher advances toward Q but Worf quickly stands and restrains her.
"Jean-Luc," Q pleads "please, the Ragoreyn are the mortal enemy of them."
"Who is them?" Riker asks.
"Yes, what species are we dealing with?" Geordi asks, sitting up.
Q sighs deeply, "The Kilagar a'."
"Okay, then if we know the Ragoreyn can defeat them, when Tohaus is better, than we can ask him if he can help the Q?" Geordi says.
"Maybe he can send out a distress signal for more help?" Worf offers.
The over head Comm beeps, "Captain," a voice says.
"Yes, Mr. Crusher, go ahead," Picard says.
"We have Deep Space 9 in range sir."
"Wonderful," Riker says.
"Sir, I think you should see this," Weasley says.
Data stands and pushes a button to activate the wall view screen.
Q turns to Captain Picard, "Captain, I won't be able to protect you this time. You are all on your own. We have our own problems," he says and then disappears.
"Protect us?" Riker scoffs, "since when has he protected us?"
"Sir," Data says.
Picard and Riker turn to the view screen to see a ship coming into view.
Data turns around, "it is Borg, sir," he says.
There on the screen was a large Borg cube seemingly docked at Deep Space 9.
"Shields up, Red Alert!" Riker announces as everyone in the room begins to exit quickly and take battle stations.
"Open a channel to Deep Space 9," Picard says coming onto the bridge and sitting in his chair.
Sisko appears on the view screen.
"We see you have company, how can we assist?" Riker says.
"They seem to be dead in the water, at least for now. But we have more urgent matters for now."
Picard turns to Data.
"Confirmed," Data says, there is no activity on the Borg ship," Data turns around, "They do not even appear to be making repairs."
"Stand down Red Alert," Riker orders.
"What are your more urgent matters?" Picard asks Sisko.
"There is something on the Station attacking crewmen, and we don't know what it is, yet, but we have an idea where it came from," Sisko says.
"Attacking crewman?" Riker says.
"Yes sir. We have video of an incident," Kira says.
"Oh, there's more," Odo says turning to Quark.
"Until recently, we had only just discovered, Quark, had purchased a Stasis Chamber and it was on board," Kira says.
"I don't think I like where this is going," Riker says.
"Neither did we," Kira says.
"The Chamber has been opened," Odo confirms.
Picard looks over at Riker. He then turns back to the view screen, "What is in the Stasis Chamber?"
"We don't know," Kira says looking over at Quark.
Quark steps up, "I bought it from a trader. He didn't provide a manifest. I…"
The computer overhead beeps, "Rom to Quark," a voice says over the intercom.
Quark slowly closes his eyes and hits his com badge, "Yes, I'm kind of busy here, Rom."
"I know brother, I'm sorry," Rom says, "I just thought you might want to know a Shipment PADD was found."
"So?" Quark huffs.
"It's about your Stasis Chamber," Rom goes stone silent.
Quark turns to Sisko.
"What does it say, Rom?" Sisko asks.
"Commander Sisko? Is that you?" Rom asks.
"Yes, Rom, it's all of us. Now what was on the PADD?" Odo yells.
"Uh… well… it says the shipment is one of 2. Stasis Chamber 2067B and Stasis Chamber 2067A."
Odo turns to Quark.
Quark shrugs, "I don't know about that, I swear."
"It also says something else brother," Rom sighs, "It lists the origin for both."
There is a pause. Finally Quark has had enough, "Out with it!" he yells.
"Its origin is Babylon 5."
Riker turns to Picard, "Wasn't Babylon 5 destroyed?"
Picard nods, "Yes. The Borg discovered how to imitate a wormhole but they could only manifest one in Babylon 5's region. But the aftermath was the station being destroyed."
Data turns around, "There were 167,542 beings lost during the fight when the station exploded. The station was able to evacuate families but many soldiers across the galaxy and Multiverse had come to assist in fighting the Borg. Unfortunately, the Borg realized they would not win. In an effort to close the wormhole they had produced, they ineffectively attempted to launch torpedoes into the wormhole which caused a chain reaction implosion of Babylon 5's outer hull just over the Maintenance and Operational controls. This caused the station to…"
"Data!" Riker yells.
"Yes sir," Data says turning back around.
Odo steps near Quark, "Do you at least have the information of the Stasis Chamber written down? Do you know which one it is?"
"Of course, it's written down on my books for the bar. Rom," Quark says, "Retrieve my PADD from the workspace and read me the information I have for the Chamber," he orders.
"Yes, one minute, brother."
Quark hears some shuffling around.
"Okay, I found it. It says… oh…"
"What does it say?" Odo asks.
"It says Stasis Chamber unknown origin, sealed 112 years ago, Biograde Eletrosys Brand number 2067A."
"Does it identify the occupants?" Odo asks.
"Yes. It says Stasis Chamber 2067B has an Unknown Occupant."
"And what does it say we have, Rom?" Sisko asks calmly.
"Yes, what of Chamber 2067A?" Quark asks.
"Uh…" Rom's voice cracks, "A Vorlan."
"Did he say a Vorlan?" Riker asks out loud.
"We have begun docking procedures, sir," Weasley announces.
"Very good, Mr. Crusher," Picard says. "We have many things to discuss, Commander."
"So do we," Sisko agrees, "We will meet you shortly, Sisko out."
The view screen goes black. Riker turns to Picard and stands, "A Vorlan?"
Picard stands, "Just wait until we tell him about our guest on board," Picard shakes his head as he walks to the turbo lift.
Worf enters the Turbo Lift, "The Klingon Empire has always been taught the Vorlan are a formidable opponent," he says.
"Fantastic," Riker says getting on the Turbo Lift.
"Oh goodie," Troi says following Riker.
"If the occupant of the Stasis Chamber is a Vorlan, he won't know we mean him no harm," Crusher says getting on the lift.
"That could be true for any species, Doctor Crusher," Data adds.
"I thought Stasis Chambers were outlawed?" Troi asks.
"They might have 2 and not know it yet," Riker offers.
"Don't forget about, Q," Worf says as the lift doors begin to close.
Everyone turns to Worf. Slowly they all remember that when Q appears, things normally get incredibly difficult.
Everyone collectively sighs.
