"This is what we have seen, Doctor," the Elder Ood continued, "The darkness heralds only one thing; the end of time itself."

The Doctor pushed off the ground and blasted out of the cave without a word. The flames on the torches flickered as he flew by.

He still saw the Elder Ood in his head. "Events that have happened are happening now."

The Doctor flew through the snow as fast as he could. He flew over hills and finally found the TARDIS. He unlocked it by remote and dashed inside.

Another scene . . .

"He's tall and thin. Wears a brown suit, maybe a blue suit," Wilf explained, "He's got a long brown coat, modern sort of hair. All sticky-uppy, right? Oh, and on page two, he's sort-of figured out how to fly, without jet-packs or wings or anything. So if you see a man flying about . . . . Also, be on the lookout for a police box, exactly like the old ones."

Another scene . . .

The Doctor stood on a tall pile of dirt in a huge demolition site. He inhaled deeply, smelling for the Master. He looked, listened, and smelled. He suddenly heard a loud bang repeated four times. The four bangs repeated again. The Doctor jumped and flew toward the sound. It repeated faster. He kept flying. He felt the Master running away and followed him.

He suddenly spotted the Master standing on a ridge of dirt. The Doctor planted his feet on the ground and skidded to a stop, kicking up pebbles and dust. They stared at each other. The Master let out a loud roar and leaped into the air, laughing. The Doctor jumped into the air after him. They flew through the air. The Master was much faster and toyed with him, always staying just out of reach.

The Master finally stopped and faced the Doctor. The Doctor also stopped. The Master laughed again, his skeleton flashing under his skin.

"Please, let me help! You're burning up your own life force!" the Doctor shouted.

The Master blasted into the air again. The Doctor ran to a pile of girders he could jump off to launch himself into the air.

Wilf ran toward him. "Oh, my gosh, Doctor, you're a sight for sore eyes."

"Out of my way!" the Doctor shouted. He jumped into the air to fly away, but Wilf caught him. He struggled lightly, forcing himself not to throw Wilf off.

A bunch of people approached.

"Did we do it? Is that him?" one of them said.

"Tall and thin, big brown coat, flying about."

The Doctor stopped and looked at them curiously.

"The Silver Cloak. It worked," a woman said, "Cos Wilf phoned Netty, who phoned June, and her sister lives opposite Broadfell, and she saw the police box, and her neighbor saw this man heading east."

The Doctor floated back to the ground. "Wilfred? Have you told them who I am? You promised!"

Another scene . . .

The Doctor stood on a dirt pile at night, scanning for the Master. He jumped into the air and flew overhead, searching the area. He spotted the Master and flew silently down behind him. He landed without a sound. The Master looked up from gnawing on something and sniffed. He turned and saw the Doctor.

Another scene . . .

"It's real! It's real! It's REAL!" the Master shouted, laughing with glee.

He blasted lightning on the ground and shot into the air.

The Doctor scrambled to his feet. He ran up a pile of dirt, jumped off, and flew after the Master. The Master floated in the air. The Doctor slid to a stop and stood in front of him.

"All these years, you thought I was mad. King of the wasteland," the Master began, "But something is calling me, Doctor. What is it? What is it? What is it?"

A spotlight illuminated the Master from above. The Doctor heard the whirring blades of a helicopter. The Master spread his arms and lifted his head to the light. Another beam shone down on the Doctor. Two cords dropped down beside the Master and two men slid down. They stuck a needle in his arm and caught him as he went limp.

The Doctor ran on the air toward them. "Don't!"

They pointed their guns seriously at him, but he didn't slow down.

He let himself drop out of the sky as they shot at him. He flew back up, swerving and dodging their bullets as they pulled the Master into the helicopter. "Let him go!"

Something stuck him in the side. He felt the tranquilizer working. He tried to keep flying, but his arms flapped limply and he fell. He crashed to the ground, unconscious.
