Epilogue
MacGyver came home to a call from Chief Allenwood, letting him know that the men he had helped capture had given information leading to the finding and arrest of the rest of the kidnapping ring. At least two dozen girls were discovered being held captive, not all of them fortunate enough to have escaped as unscathed as Lucie and the others.
"There's a five-thousand-dollar reward out for information leading to the kidnappers' capture," Chief Allenwood added. "Since you were acting as a concerned citizen and not officially as a DXS agent, the authorities have deemed you eligible for it."
"No, thanks."
"I beg your pardon?"
"Give it to the families of the girls who were taken."
"I'm not sure that's possible, Mr MacGyver; red tape and all that."
MacGyver sighed, shaking his head at the idiocy of bureaucracy. "All right, then I'll accept it and use it to set up a fund for the girls myself. They sure need it a lot more than I do."
As he hung up the phone, he reflected on the original circumstances leading to his rescue of the girls. Hank's bad luck had turned into such good luck for the girls that it was enough to make one stop believing in any kind of luck at all — if indeed he ever had.

A/N: Since this epilogue was so short, I'm giving you a bonus and posting the prologue for my next MacGyver story, "Houseguest," today as well! Barbie
I proofread all my stories at least once before posting, but if you see any mistakes I might have missed, please let me know!
Please note that I have only minimal internet access, and may not have time to respond to all reviews/messages. (But they are much appreciated, even if you're reading this story long after I originally post it!) If you have questions regarding my MacGyver alternate history, check my profile first to see if they're answered there. Thanks for your understanding! Barbie
