Here's my latest chapter. This one has been gone over by my Beta as well as the previous chapters. So, I actually recommend that you go back and reread them because there have been some changes that might confuse you later on.
Also, I've addressed the issue of me supposably using the wrong spell in the last chapter against Kori's father. Read the A/N at the end of the last chapter for the explanation.
Please enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 8 – Material Gathering
Harry groaned as they arrived at the latest town on their trip around the planet. It wasn't so bad at first because it allowed him to meet more of Kori's people. The only thing he had found annoying was the fact that Kori's parents wouldn't let them fly from town to town. No, they had to be carried on palanquins by the Royal Guards. Luand'r, his mother-in-law, told him that wasn't how it was done. As Kori's husband and the future King of Tamaran they had to do the introduction to the people the traditional way, otherwise the people would never accept him.
At that moment the palanquin was sat down in the middle of the city square.
"Come, my Husband. This village is the last one we need to visit to collect the materials for my wand," Kori said as she stepped out the other side of the palanquin.
He smiled at that remembering what they had to do to get the last two materials.
-HmK-
A few hours after they left the second village, they visited on their journey around the planet introducing Harry to the people, their caravan stopped. Everyone got out of their palanquins to stretch.
Harry's mother-in-law then motioned for him and Kori to come towards her.
When they got near her, she said, "There is a Narflager nest over that hill there. We'll let you two collect its hair. Good luck."
They nodded and headed in the direction that she pointed.
After they crested the hill, they saw the nest of one of the Narflager, he was surprised to see a creature that resembled a winged serpent. Except that instead of scales and feathers, it was covered in an ever-shifting rainbow of fur. It was also the size of the Titans tower back on Earth.
"How are we going to get a hair from something that big?" Harry asked her with amazement.
Kori tilted her head before she said, "We could always just ask her. Narflager's are actually quite intelligent. They've been known to give advice to the Royal family for as far back as our History has been recorded."
Harry thought about it for a bit before he looked at Kori, "I think you're going to have to be the one to ask her. You need the hair for creating your wand."
Kori nodded when he said that, then slowly walked towards the Narflager. When she got to about twenty feet away, she cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled, "Excuse me, oh great and mighty Narflager. I need a moment of your time."
The gigantic serpent turned its head to look at her before it also noticed Harry standing a bit further back. It then lowered its head down to look at Kori and stared at her with one of her giant eyes before blinking it and asking, "What is it you need, future Queen of Tamaran?"
"I would like to ask if it was possible to get one of your hairs?" Kori asked as she bowed her head.
The serpent blinked again before it looked at Harry who was standing a good distance away. She then looked back at Kori, "Your Husband is of Tamaranean blood, but not born of Tamaran. He also can use Tamaranean energy in a way that has never been seen before."
The Narflager's eye then became unfocused, before it spoke, "The Princess from the world of brown and the Noble from the world of blue shall be joined by the King of the Rolling Rock. The Noble shall then help the Princess learn more of the little things of the Universe. The Princess shall teach the Noble the ways of love and family. They will remove the one that hides in the darkness from the living and bring peace to the world of blue. They will lead the world of brown to a new Golden Age amongst the rest of the Universe."
After that the serpent blinked its eye before it looked at her again. She smiled, "It has been a very long time since I've made a prophecy. It seems that you and your Husband have an important role to play in not only both of your worlds, but in the Universe as a whole. Now, could you tell me why you need one of my hairs?"
"I need it so someone from my Husband's world can make something called a wand. After it's made, I should be able to use Magic like him," she replied while trying to figure out what the Narflager had said.
The serpent continued to look at her before it blinked again and nodded its head, "I see. My hair will make for a powerful one of these wands. All I ask is that when you and your Husband ascend the throne is that you both try to bring this thing called Magic to our world."
Kori bowed her head as she said, "I thank you for allowing me one of your hairs."
"You are welcome, future Queen of Tamaran. Please pluck one of the hairs from my forehead," the serpent told her as she turned her head so Kori could pull one of her hairs out.
Kori reached up and took a hold of one of the hairs and with all of her might, yanked it out. As she held it in her hands it continued to change colors though just a little bit less vibrant.
The Narflager then raised its head, "I wish you good luck on your life's journey from here on into the Golden Age of our world."
Kori nodded before she rejoined Harry.
"Well, that was weird," Harry told her as they started to walk away.
"How so?" she asked him.
"That's not the first time I've heard someone tell a prophecy. The last time was at the end of my third year. My Divination teacher gave a prophecy that led to the person who betrayed my family to returning to his master. Though she couldn't remember having made the prophecy afterward. Heck I didn't even know that they could be made by other species," Harry said as they came into view of the rest of their party.
-HmK-
It was about two days later that their caravan stopped again. This time near one of the only forests on the planet.
After Harry and Kori had gotten out of their palanquin and joined Kori's mother, they were told that one of the few herds of Beutralgar lived in the forest.
"Will you need any help getting the claw?" Harry asked Kori not knowing what the creature was and being worried for her.
"I think that I might, my Husband. If you and my mother could distract most of the herd, I will be able to hopefully subdue one and remove a claw from it," she told him with a hint of nervousness in her voice.
"I'll do what I can. Though I don't even know what these creatures look like, let alone if they are dangerous or not," he replied while grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze.
He had been showing more and more affection since he had been around her. He thought that it was because she told him that their powers were influenced by their emotions, but it felt more like she just made him more at ease with everything than he has ever been in his life.
As the three of them walked into the woods Harry's Mother-in-Law looked at him, "Now my dear Son-in-Law I suggest you use that Magic that you showed us to distract the Beutralgar herd. Kori will most likely have to try and get a claw from one of the lesser females. After she gets the claw we will take off at full speed and fly back to the caravan."
Harry nodded and continued to follow Kori and her through the woods. Eventually they came to the edge of a clearing and he got his first sight of the creatures.
Beutralgar was like nothing he had ever seen before. Almost all of them were the size of an Elephant with a scaled hide that resembled a tiger, except the color was wrong. Instead of the usual orange with white underbelly and black stripes, these creatures were black with a red underbelly and white stripes. They also all looked like bears with very long saber-like teeth and claws as long as his forearm. There was only one that was different. It stood a good two heads taller than the rest and had golden fur with a silver underbelly and green stripes.
"Those are the creatures we're looking for?" Harry asked, completely stunned that Kori would have to try and get a claw from these things.
"Yes, and the golden one is the Alpha female. She will be the one we need to distract the most. She will be the most likely to kill Kori. Beutralgar's are actually very gentle creatures. They eat most plants and certain minerals. Though if startled or the herd is threatened the Alpha female has been known to rip a person into many tiny pieces. Energy bolts actually bounce off of their hides, so they are quite dangerous. If my daughter didn't need the claw of one, I wouldn't have even brought you here," she told him with a very serious expression on her face.
"They sound somewhat like the dragons of Earth. Their hides make them completely immune to Magic. The only place they are vulnerable is their eyes and the inside of their mouths," he said realizing that this is going to be very dangerous.
"After I knock one out, I should be able to remove one of their claws easily. Fortunately, they regrow their claws quickly," Kori said as she rolled her shoulders.
"Harry, I want you to use your Magic to distract them in whatever way you think might be possible. Daughter, when you see one that is separated from the rest you should try and subdue that one," his Mother-in-Law said.
Harry nodded before taking a deep breath. He then pointed his wand to the right of the herd and said "Bombarda Maxima!" followed by "Draconifors!"
Two different colored beams of light came out of Harry's wand. The first hit the ground near the herd causing a large explosion and sending up a lot of debris. The second spell turned most of the debris into tiny dragons that started to attack the Beutralgar herd.
After the explosion the whole herd except the Alpha Female ran in the opposite direction. The Alpha Female turned towards it and started to attack the tiny dragons that appeared. Unfortunately, it was only the Alpha Female that was separated from the rest.
Kori bit her lip realizing that she would have to get the claw she needed from the Alpha Female. She took off with a kick, flying towards the Golden colored one. When she neared it, she had to dodge quickly out of the way to avoid being slashed or impaled by its claws or teeth. Fortunately it didn't take her long to get underneath its chin and hit it with a super strength powered uppercut. As it connected it lifted the Beutralgar off of its feet before it landed. Kori flew back a bit and watched it. It stood for about three seconds before it fell on its side unconscious. She then quickly got next to it and grabbed a hold of a claw on its front left foot. After that she tugged on it with all of her might, making it pop out easier that she thought. As she stood there for a few seconds the Alpha Female started to stir breaking her out of her stupor. She then shot into the air flying back to where they left the caravan.
Harry and her mother quickly followed after her.
When all three made it back Luand'r walked up to Harry and Kori smacking them on the back of the head. "What did I tell you two about being careful? Taking the claw from the ALPHA FEMALE is NOT being careful. I can only hope that getting the claw from her will make my daughter's wand more powerful than getting it from one of the others," she told them with a scowl on her face first then softening.
"I'm sorry mother, but you told me to go after the one that got separated from the rest. Unfortunately, the Alpha Female was the only one to separate from the rest," Kori replied while looking at the ground and playing with the claw that she had taken.
Harry frowned then said, "It was dangerous, but I would have done whatever it took to protect her. Even if it meant casting the Killing Curse to save her."
That stunned both Kori and her mother, because they know what that curse has caused him throughout his life.
"My husband, no Harry. I'm glad you would be willing to do something like that to protect me, but I would never want you to kill anything for me," Kori told him as she pulled him into a tight hug.
"She's right Harry. I'm proud that you would be willing to do that, but don't compromise your own ethics. I know you've told us you would never use that spell, nor would you teach it to anyone. Let's go, we still have a way to go before we get done with your introduction to the people," Luand'r told them while ushering them back to their palanquin.
-HmK-
Harry looked around the village. It wasn't that big of a village and there was nothing that made it special, except the loan tree in the center of the village. This wasn't your ordinary tree though. This tree was what some would call a World Tree. For this tree was taller than any building he had seen on Earth. It was also pure white in color with violet-colored leaves.
"Come on my son-in-law. It's time to meet the village chief," Luand'r called from a group of villagers that she was standing in front of with Kori.
Harry smiled as he walked over to them.
When he got next to them his Mother-in-Law pointed to an older gentleman and said, "Harry, this is the Village Chief Shu'loc. Shu'loc, this is the man who is going to marry my daughter Princess Koriand'r. We hope you and your people will be able to attend."
Shu'loc towered over Harry as he looked at him with a very suspiscious eye. "He's not of Tamaranean blood, is he?" he asked.
Harry immediately thought, "Great someone who thinks of blood purity."
Kori grabbed Harry's hand before speaking up, "He is not, but he is descended from Tamarameans on both sides of his family."
The man narrowed his eyes, "Do you know the names of your ancestors?"
Harry took a deep breath, "Du'Rala on my mother's side and Ma'Kai on my father's side."
Shu'loc actually took a step back as if he was slapped when he heard the names.
Luand'r tilted her head in confusion, "Do you know of them? We searched the Royal archives, but couldn't find anything about them."
"Yes. They were the sisters of an ancestor of mine called Wil'tae. Her sisters left Tamaran to explore the universe. The only reason my ancestor didn't go was because she had just gotten married to her husband and it was one of the strongest bonds that the village has ever seen," Shuloc told them.
This made Harry remember what Kori and her family tried to tell him about Tamaraneans and their marriage bonds. They basically told him that the stronger the bond the longer the couple had to stay together until it was stabilized. Kori's parents had a very strong bond appear when they were married and stayed close to each other for nearly a year. When they measured Harry's and Kori's bond they found out that it was stronger than her parents. In fact, it was considered the strongest bond on record in the past five Tamaranean centuries. What this meant, was that they would have to stay close for maybe the next two to five years.
The Village Chief then surprised them by stepping forward and grasping Harry's forearm forcing Harry to do the same in surprise, "I welcome you brother."
Harry blinked, "But, I'm not your brother. We don't have the same parents. Let alone me being born on another planet."
Shu'loc smiled, "You have a lot to learn about our people, brother. If it is alright with Queen Luand'r and the Princess Koriand'r, I would be more than willing to teach you everything you need to know about your future people."
Harry was still a little shocked as he turned to look at the women in question.
The Queen smiled, "I think that would be wonderful. He can teach about the people, while the rest of the family can teach about being royalty."
"It is good for you to have found more family. Talk with him and tell him about yourself while learning about your distant family," Kori told him before leaning in and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Harry thought to himself, "If Kori is telling me that then I know that I can trust him, though I don't know why she would say that. We just met the man. It might have to do with him grasping my forearm and calling me brother the way he did. I also know that he most likely won't judge me, if the way Kori's family reacted to what little I've told them about how I was raised." "Alright, I think that would be helpful. Do you want to come along?" he replied.
"No. I need to get some wood from the Valiouc tree, so that I can give the materials for my wand to Eagle Feather when she gets here with the guests for the Wedding," Kori told him shaking her head.
Shu'loc looked at her confused, "What is a wand and why do you need wood from the Mother tree for it?"
Instead of trying to explain what a wand was, Harry pulled his out the pocket of his Royal robes and showed it to him, "This is a wand. It's what my sub-species uses for controlling an energy called Magic. We found out before we came to Tamaran that Kori could use Magic. The person who told us this also makes wands and tested her to see what she would need to make it. We've already gathered two of the items that will be used in its creation. The last is the Wood of the Valiouc tree."
"Do you mind telling me what the other materials are that you've gathered?" he asked them.
"A hair from the Narflager and a claw from a Beutralgar," Kori answered him.
"One of the Serpents of Prophecy and the most dangerous creature on our planet. That wand as you call it will most likely make our Princess extremely powerful and dangerous. I fear for anyone who makes her angry," Shu'loc whistled in awe.
"I agree with you. I've seen a little of this Magic that Harry is able to use and apparently that's with using a wand not really suited for him," Luand'r told him with a nod.
Shu'loc rubbed his chin then pointed towards the Valiouc tree, "You should be able to find some wood that has fallen from the Mother Tree at it's base. We don't really do anything with it. Just let it decompose so that it can reabsorb the nutrients into itself."
Kori bowed, "Thank you, sir." After that Kori and her mother walked towards the tree.
"Well, brother Harry. Let me introduce you to the rest of the family and start telling you why I consider you my brother," Shu Loc told him with a smile while starting to lead him to one of the nearby houses.

A/N: Well, that's it for this chapter. I do really apologize for this update being later than I told you. It's just that RL is really doing a number on me at the moment. There's also the fact that I'm trying to keep up with new chapters of stories I'm reading on this site. I'm also trying to keep up with a few Anime's I've been watching and checking out a few new ones that are coming out. There's just not enough time in the day to do everything that I want to do. All I ask is that everyone forgive me.
Please read and review.
