Chapter 9

Korra woke up inside a cell. She looked around, finding a way out. She saw Zia approaching her.

"What do you want from me?" Korra asked.

"I want you to feel exactly what I felt! Powerless! Unacceptable!" Zia said.

"What did I ever do to you!?" Korra asked.

"Well then. Why don't we go to the past. The past before the first Keyblade War started..." Everything flashed back to the past.

Before the first Keyblade War even started, I was born. I had it all. Until I met my Grandfather, the one you know as Xehanort. He saw potential in me. He took me under his wing, making me his apprentice. He had a goal to make me a Keyblade Master. I trained with him every day. Until the day I disobeyed his warning. I was told not to go into a battle on my own.

I fought my first Heartless, the Dark Heart. I thought I could do it. I thought I could defeat it. But I didn't. My Grandfather was disappointed in me. Then he did something I didn't ever think he would do. He pointed his Keyblade at me and fractured my heart. I laid there, lifeless.

Then I saw you. A light that can never be touched by darkness. Xehanort carried you and took off, leaving me there. That's when I realized. That's when I knew. Xehanort never cared for me. He only wanted me to be the granddaughter of darkness.

Everything flashed back to the present.

"He took my light! He took you from me! Xehanort took you to Master Eraques. He took you to be raised in a family! A family who loved you. Friends to cherish you! He made you a Keyblade Master! You took everything from me!" Zia said angrily to Korra.

Korra looked at Zia with sympathy in her eyes. She grabbed onto the cell bars. "Zia, I never meant to take anything from you. I guess it was fate or destiny."

"No! Shut up about your fate or destiny! I make my own destiny! And my destiny is to destroy you!" Zia said as she pointed her Keyblade at Korra.

"Please. We can make our hearts whole again. Just let me help you."

"Ha! Help me?" Zia chuckled but then she glared at Korra. "I don't think so."

Zia extended her hand towards Korra and took away all of Korra's magic. Korra yelled in pain. Then she collapsed onto the ground, weak.

"There. Now you are useless and pathetic. Some leader of the Lights you are." Zia said. Then she walked away.

"Vanitas! Let's go say hello to our rescuers, shall we?" Zia said as she walked towards the balcony.

"Certainly." Vanitas said, following her.
