Oz was studying in the library when Polly came running in screaming like a banshee.

"Oz! Oz! Oz!" she yelled.

"Haa…" her friend sighed "Please stop screaming in the library."

"Whatever!" she sat next to him at the table with a thud "Check out this cool thing I found."

Polly whipped out a rather crusty and rusted looking floppy disk.

"Some really old porn from the 90's?" Oz asked.

"What no, though that would be cool to find too." She hummed "This is the legendary Arcane Floppy Disk."

"I see you've been hanging out with The Slayer again." The black shade sighed more.

"I'm serious look see the ink is faded but that's what it is so let's pop this sucker into a computer and boot up whatever super awesome rare game is on this baby." Polly held the disk up like some sort of Excalibur.

"It's probably just a virus." He told her "But it could be fun let's try it."

The two looked around for a while before finding a fairly old computer that still took floppy disks.

"The disk." Oz held his hand out.

"Yes doctor." Polly gently handed it to him.

Oz opened the slot and casually slid the disk into the port, the computer did nothing for a few moments before the screen flashed a variety of colors and turned off.

"I think we broke it." Polly said "Maybe we need to turn it off and back on again?"

"Or maybe you just found a useless old piece of junk." Oz told her "Where did you even find this thing?"

"Valerie was selling it for like eight bucks." She shrugged.

Suddenly the screen kicked back on and displayed a smiling emoticon.

"Oh fun it's smiling at us, hi there." Polly laughed waving "See this is fun."

"Hello." The computer buzzed.

"Uhh I think it just spoke?" Oz said.

"That's probably just part of the game." Polly scooched closer.

"What is a game?" the computer asked.

"Oh no." Oz said "I think it's alive."

"You're over reacting." Polly rolled her eyes and clicked around on the screen "Weird there's no menu or anything, this game sucks it's too hard and not fun!"

"I'm sorry that I disappointed you, I will reassess my settings for more optimal fun having." The PC said.

"Polly it's definitely alive." Oz told her.

"Look now it's not even responding." Polly pouted as the screen went dark "I'm going home, what a waste of eight bucks."

"I guess." Oz shook his head and gathered his stuff "Wanna stop by the store on the way home?"

THE NEXT DAY

When Oz arrived at school the next day he immediately got an odd feeling, he was normally in tune with many emotions specifically fear but this was different.

"I don't know what that thing is, but I know somehow you two are to blame." Vera pointed down that hall.

"Is that a robot, so cool!" Scoot said.

"Hello." The PC walked over.

"I told you it was alive; it built a body!" Oz yelled at Polly.

"Hmm, you were right, I stand corrected."

"I spent the night searching the various internet sites for ways to be more 'fun' I deemed constructing a more mobile frame would be required for this." The robot said.

"It called itself I." Damien said.

"Aww cute it's like you two made a baby." Miranda clapped.

"It's not like that." Oz sighed.

"Yeah it's more like we made a new friend." Polly laughed "Uhh so what's you name Robo-bro?"

"My serial number is C4LUL3573R."

"That's like…really complicated." Scott said.

"Let's just call you Calculester, or Cal that's way better." Polly snapped "But uhh aren't sentient AI robots like super illegal."

"I decree this fun new robot computer friend legal!" Miranda said.

"Good enough for me." Polly said.

"Is this, friendship?" Cal asked.

"He is basically a day old…and a computer." Liam said "You need to be careful with what you teach him it could effect his entire sense of self."

"I understand, friend Liam is being very specific as to avoid me getting any viruses related to poor choice." Cal said.

"He catches on quick!" Damien laughed.

"He's growing up so fast." Polly sniffled.

"Yeah friendship!" Scott yelled.

"You are all so weird…" a random student said walking by.
