A/N: Hello. :) As you could imagine, it's been a long time since the previous episode for this story is posted. Now, I can proudly say that the hiatus has come to a close. Speaking of which, I just saw "Ben 10 VS. The Universe The Movie" this morning and I thought it was great. Mostly because of the Omnitrix's new features involving the method to unlocking new DNA samples to use such as Goop and WayBig, but still. :) Also, Emily would unlock a new alien in this episode, and I think we all know what it is. :) Enjoy.
Ben 10 (2005) Rewrite
Chapter 7
Camp Fear
Act I
It all started one dark, stormy night when Emily was in Dave's RV behind the Rustbucket looking out the window.
"Okay. I spy with my little eye something...piney...and green. Just far away from the mountains.", Emily spoke.
"Is it a pine tree?", Dave guessed.
"Yeah. You got it, Dad.", Emily grinned.
"Oh, did I, now? Then, I guess it's my turn to spy something.", Dave grinned.
"All right, shoot.", Emily smiled.
"Okay, then. I spy my with my little eye something rocky, rigid, and...steep.", Dave spoke.
"Is it a mountain?", Emily guessed.
"By Jove, I think you got it.", Dave grinned.
"It wasn't exactly hard to figure out, Dad.", Emily responded.
"Speaking of hard to figure out, I wonder how Max is doing.", Dave wondered.
Little did he know, Max's patience was getting tested by Ben and Gwen's arguing.
"Change it!", Ben urged.
"No way, you change yours!", Gwen argued.
"It's your turn!", Ben argued back as Max started twitching his left eye.
"Sorry, but I already picked the cake, color-coordinated the balloons, and sent the invitations. By the way, here's yours.", Gwen retorted as she pointed to the cake and balloons before turning the page to show a list of invitations, one of which she gave to Ben, only for him to toss it out behind him.
"Ugh, who plans their birthday party 6 months in advance?", Ben groaned as he was scratching his foot.
"The one who actually gets to celebrate it on her actual birthday this year.", Gwen responded before Ben only put his foot on the table.
"I don't think so. Grandpa promised he's taking me for Laser Tag for my birthday.", Ben retorted as he took the sock off his foot and continued scratching it.
"But you can't miss my party, Grandpa.", Gwen spoke in slight worry as she closed her book.
"Now, you two have shared the same birthday for 10 years and if you don't stop arguing, neither of you will make it to 11.", Max threatened before reaching for some foot powder and grabbing it.
"Here, Ben. Try this on your foot. It gets rid of all kinds of fungus.", Max suggested as he then tossed it over to Ben before he caught it.
"Athlete's foot powder? Well, I am an athlete.", Ben smirked before then applying the powder.
"More like an athletic supporter if you ask me.", Gwen retorted before Ben glared and stuck out his tongue at Gwen before applying the powder into his shoe.
Outside, though, it was only a matter of time before a boy walked into the street and looked up as the lights shone on him.
"They're coming! Help me!", the boy pleaded.
Max noticed the boy outside with quite a fright and tried to stop the RV.
"Grandpa!", Ben and Gwen exclaimed with Max giving a worried look as he tried to stop the Rustbucket.
Act II
Meanwhile, Dave noticed the Rustbucket skidding.
"What in the Sam Hill?!", Dave exclaimed before skidding to a stop as well before the boy jumped out of the Rustbucket's path as he screamed only to tumble and grab onto a branch from the mountain wall as Emily noticed from the window before both Dave's RV and the Rustbucket skidded to a halt with Ben and Emily getting out.
"Hang on! We'll help you up!", Emily assured.
"Stinkfly to the rescue.", Ben spoke as he and Emily both activated their devices and pressed down on the dials before transforming with Emily in Pyronite hybrid form as her body is covered with rocks while her hair had turned into flames and everything else is normal and Ben in Cannonbolt form.
"Oh, man. Can't this thing ever get it right?", Cannonbolt complained.
"We'll worry about that later.", Emily responded as she created a rock-like podium from the door she was standing on before dashing forwards as Cannonbolt went into ball form and dashed forward.
The boy held on as best he could, but his hand slipped off the branch as lightning struck before falling down with a scream as Cannonbolt and Emily jumped off for the boy before Cannonbolt grabbed him.
"Gotcha!", Cannonbolt assured before Emily then got in front of Cannonbolt and managed to catch him before sliding down the hill on her podium, which eventually broke before the two aliens landed on the ground with Cannonbolt reverting back to humanoid form with the boy safe and secure as Emily got back up in slight pain just as the boy opened his eyes to notice not only Cannonbolt, but also Emily as a Pyronite hybrid.
"You okay?", Cannonbolt asked.
"That was a really big fall.", Emily added before the boy exclaimed in fright and passed out.
"Uh, I'll take that as a 'no.'", Cannonbolt spoke before laying down.
"Maybe we should wait until we time out. But first, we gotta get back up there.", Emily stated.
Later, Ben and Emily were both back to normal as the unconscious boy was laid down in the rustbucket's cushions with Max, Dave, and Gwen present.
"So, how's he looking, Maxie?", Dave asked.
"Just a few scrapes and bruises, that's good. But he's out cold.", Max responded.
"Sorry. He kinda saw us in alien form and passed out in shock.", Emily apologized.
"Well, that's to be expected from some people. But at least he's all in one piece.", Dave assured.
"His name's Gilbert.", Gwen stated.
"Whoa. How'd you know that?", Ben asked.
"Women's intuition.", Gwen smirked.
"Uh, are you sure that his name tag didn't have anything to do with it?", Emily asked as she moved the towel off the left shoulder to reveal the name tag.
"He must be from Camp Opinicon.", Dave guessed.
"How'd you figure that?", Emily asked.
"The camp is closest to the area we're in.", Dave responded before Ben and Gwen noticed the scab on Gilbert's left arm.
"Ugh, that is one scary-looking rash!", Ben commented as he poked it.
"A scab is more like it.", Emily responded in equal disgust.
"It's obviously some kind of fungus.", Gwen stated in slight worry as Ben continued poking the scab, much to Emily's disgust.
"Will you stop poking that?! It could be contagious!", Emily urged, swatting Ben's hand away.
"Well, as luck would have it, I saw the sign for the camp a little ways back. They must have a nurse there.", Dave stated.
Later, Ben, Gwen, Emily, Max, and Dave arrived at Camp Opinicon as lightning struck and rain fell down before the group of five came out and went in the mess hall.
"Hello? Anybody home?", Max asked.
All they saw, however, were the messy tables and chairs out of place, almost as if they were wrecked.
"Whoa. Looks abandoned.", Ben spoke.
"Yep. Definitely abandoned.", Gwen spoke after analyzing the damage.
"I'm not so sure. If it was abandoned, the light wouldn't be left on. And for that matter, this plate of spaghetti and meatballs is still fresh and warm.", Emily corrected, placing her hand above the steam from the food.
"Looks like they left in a hurry.", Max guessed.
"The question is, why?", Dave puzzled before lightning struck.
At that moment, the light suddenly went out.
"I still say it's technically not abandoned.", Emily stated before Max turned on his flashlight and shone it on Gwen, Emily, and Dave first before going over to Ben, who was eating the plate of spaghetti and meatballs as Emily gave a slight glare.
"What? I'm hungry.", Ben spoke.
"Well, so am I. But you don't see me wolfing down on somebody else's food, do you?", Emily responded.
"Here. You two can share.", Max spoke as he turned on another flashlight before handing it to Ben.
"Like we don't share enough already?", Ben complained as he took the flashlight before wiping the tomato sauce from his mouth.
"Oh, will you let it go?", Gwen asked.
"Only if you do first.", Ben responded with an upfront glare.
"Never!", Gwen glared upfront.
"Well, then, never plus one!", Ben responded.
"Okay, how long had this been going on?", Emily puzzled one annoyance before a sudden clatter of pots and pans were heard from the kitchen as the flashlight was aimed before Ben did the shadow puppetry, which not only annoyed Gwen, but also made Emily giggle a little.
Then, the group cautiously entered the kitchen with Gwen a bit nervous as she whimpered a little and caught up. Along the way, though, Ben, Gwen, and Emily saw four white lights from the pantry door, taking the trio aback as Ben fell before the flashlight fell onto the floor with the flashlight shining on the sources, which turned out to be twins who are also campers.
"Is it safe to come out?", the twins asked before stepping out and standing up.
"Oh. It's only you two.", Emily sighed in relief.
"You two okay?", Dave asked.
"For...", the boy began.
"...now.", the girl finished.
"What happened? Where did everyone go?", Max asked.
"We heard something outside, but...", the boy began.
"We were too scared to come out.", the girl added.
"I'm Andy.", Andy introduced.
"And I'm Mandy.", Mandy added.
"We're twins.", the two campers spoke in unison.
"Aw. You two're so cute.", Emily grinned before a cracking noise was heard, frightening the twins to the point that they hid behind Emily.
"Where's the camp nurse?", Max asked.
"G-Gone...", Andy responded.
"With all the others.", Mandy added.
"Hey. You don't suppose that...", Dave began as he went over to the phone and picked it up before noticing that the phone wasn't working before checking his phone.
"Yep. Just as I suspected. The storms must've taken out the landlines.", Dave spoke.
"And there's no cellphone reception, either.", Max added as he got out his phone that said "NO SERVICE" as it beeped.
"So, what do we do now?", Emily asked.
"Let's get back to Gilbert. We'll drive him into town.", Max responded.
Later, the group rushed outside to get in the Rustbucket and Dave's RV with Emily looking around out at the rain.
"Good thing I have a hoodie to keep my head dry.", Emily grinned as she had a hood on above her head just as Max opened the door and got out two clean towels.
"Here. To help you dry off. Sorry, but I've only got two clean ones.", Max spoke as he handed one towel to Ben and Gwen, much to their dismay as they glared at each other, before giving the 2nd towel to Andy and Mandy, who had a more positive outlook.
"That's okay.", Andy assured.
"We'll share.", Mandy added before she and Andy cuddled with each other, wrapped in the towel.
Ben and Gwen, however, were not so eager to share the towel they had as they were fighting over it.
"Let go!", Ben and Gwen shouted as they were practically tugging at it, peeving Emily as she sighed.
"Fantastic...", Emily sighed as Max shook his head.
"Heh. A couple of kids I know could learn a thing or two from you guys.", Max spoke as he brushed his hand on Andy's head and continued onward to his driving seat.
"Who?", Ben and Gwen puzzled in unison.
"Yeah, I think you two know the answer.", Emily responded.
"Emily, could you come over here for a second?", Dave asked.
"Coming!", Emily responded before she rushed over and saw what Dave saw just as Max turned the keys to start up the Rustbucket, but to no avail.
"What is that?", Emily puzzled.
"It's some kind of fungus. The growth there must've done some kinda damage to the engine.", Dave responded just as Max opened the engine cover and saw the same problem.
"Engine's covered in some kind of fungus. Well, looks like we're hunkering down here for a while.", Max responded as he closed the cover, not knowing that a couple of mushroom creatures were watching him and the others.
Then, the group carried Gilbert inside the campsite and laid him down on the bed with Gwen and Emily disgusted by how Gilbert sleeps with his mouth open before Ben applies more Athlete's foot powder to his foot.
"Athlete's foot?", Mandy asked.
"Everyone gets it here.", Andy added.
"Speaking of, it looks like Gilbert could use it for his arm. It may not be on his foot, but it should do for now.", Emily spoke as she applied the same powder that Ben used onto the scab on Gilbert's arm.
"All right, kids, you stay here and keep an eye on Gilbert. I'll go check on the engines outside.", Dave instructed before he and Max left.
"In the meantime, I'll see what I can rustle up for us in the kitchen.", Max assured before the door was closed with Ben and Gwen quickly getting worried.
"Grandpa? Rustling up a meal?!", Gwen asked worriedly.
"Now, that's a scary thought.", Ben agreed as he put his shoe back on.
"There's gotta be a care package around here somewhere.", Gwen spoke worriedly before she and Ben went under the bed with each of their hands grabbing a certain box before they started fighting over it again as usual as they rigged against each other.
"Can't you guys just share?", Emily and the twins asked in unison.
"Like sharing the same birthday with a relative every single year? You don't get it.", Ben retorted angrily.
"Ben, they're twins. As in born on the same day.", Gwen explained.
"I knew that.", Ben responded.
"Look, at least see if there's enough food to share in that package.", Emily sighed as she went over to Ben and Gwen before opening the package to show mini cinnamon bun treats inside before Gilbert woke up with a gasp, just as the scab on his arm finally went away, and sat up, taking Ben, Gwen, and Emily by surprise as they exclaimed in reaction.
"They're here! All around us!", Gilbert added before turning around to see Ben, Gwen, and Emily.
"Gilbert. You're okay.", Emily grinned.
"Who's here?", Gwen asked as she sat up.
Suddenly, both Max and Dave gave slight yells of surprise, worrying Ben, Gwen, and Emily.
"Dad!", Emily exclaimed.
"That sounded like Grandpa!", Ben spoke before he and Emily rushed for the door only for Gilbert to stop them and crashed them on the floor.
"Don't go out there! Th-they'll find you.", Gilbert warned.
"Don't worry. We came prepared.", Emily assured as she showed her Omni-Enhancer while Ben showed the Omnitrix.
"Yeah. We have animal instincts.", Ben added.
Later, Wildmutt and Vulpinine we're running in all fours across the forest before they slowed down and took sniffs as they walked before they looked up and saw a construction vehicle.
"I think we're getting close.", Vulpinine stated before she and Wildmutt ran toward the area where the construction vehicle is and were quickly met with an almost enchanting sight.
"Whoa. It looks like something out of a fairy-tale.", Vulpinine commented before she and Wildmutt jumped down and ran forwards, not knowing that a few eyestalks on the ground turned and saw Vulpinine and Wildmutt advancing toward the center before the purple vines emerged from it and latched onto Wildmutt and Vulpinine as they ran.
"Hey! Let go of us!", Vulpinine grunted as she tried to get the vines off as did Wildmutt before they were dragged to the edge as they barely held on with their hind legs before they both slipped and fell down the chasm as Vulpinine screamed during said descent.
Act III
Vulpinine screamed as she and Wildmutt fell down the chasm before landing on the ground and then getting dragged away again.
"Not so fast!", Vulpinine grunted before she and Wildmutt managed to stop the vines from pulling them away any further as the former even ripped a vine out as both saw Max and Emily upside-down.
"Dad, Max!", Vulpinine spoke.
"Ben!", Max shouted.
"Emily!", Dave added before the vines covered both their mouths and then dragged them away.
"No!", Vulpinine exclaimed before she and Wildmutt ripped the vines out completely and started chasing after where the vines dragged Max and Dave before Wildmutt started to time out as the Omnitrix symbol started beeping and flashing red before a red light overcame him and diminished, revealing that Ben is now back in human form before he tumbled down and got back up as Vulpinine skidded to a halt.
"Ben! Are you okay?", Vulpinine asked.
"Not now. Grandpa! Dave!", Ben shouted.
Then, it was at that moment that the same fungus creatures from earlier awakened and chartered as they moved in toward Ben and Vulpinine, prompting the both of them to run for it only to end up on top of a growing fungus, which opened its mouth and closed it, only shaking Ben and Vulpinine off it before they landed on the ground only to be surrounded by the mushroom creatures again. It seemed like they ganged up on them only for it to turn out that Ben and Vulpinine managed to get out in time.
"Sorry, fellas, but dinners cancelled.", Vulpinine responded before digging at the ground with her hind legs, causing the dirt to cover the mushroom creatures.
"Okay. That bought us some time. Come on.", Vulpinine urged before the two ran up to where they landed via the vines, which tried to grab them again only to fail as the two successfully managed to climb up the hill with Ben getting in the construction vehicle.
"Ugh, how do you work this thing?", Ben puzzled, trying to work the controls as both the creatures and the vines caught up to Ben and Vulpinine.
"Uh, Ben? Whatever you're doing, hurry!", Vulpinine urged before Ben knew it was urgent.
"I'm taking you guys out at the root!", Ben spoke before he backed the vehicle up and then shoved both the creatures and the vines down the hill, although only the latter got back up and covered the vehicle by a decent amount with Ben barely able to get out of the vehicle, which was then grabbed and lifted up.
"Okay. So much for that idea.", Ben spoke before the vehicle was then tossed toward the sign, smashing it.
"Yeah, we better get out of here.", Vulpinine urged before she grabbed Ben, put him on top of her, and then ran as he held on tightly.
Later, Vulpinine and Ben burst in just as the former timed out and reverted back to normal form in a dark blue light before the latter closed the door as both panted.
"Guys! You won't believe what happened to us.", Emily panted.
"Yeah! There are...", Ben began.
"Killer mushrooms! Everywhere!", Gilbert exclaimed.
"And they're taking over the camp!", Gwen added.
"Right. And they've got Grandpa.", Ben added.
"And Dad, too.", Emily added.
"Oh, no!", Gwen added.
"So, do you know what they are, exactly?", Emily asked.
"They must be a...a dormant species that came alive when the camp dug in this new area. See, that's what I was trying to tell you when your RV almost ran me over.", Gilbert spoke.
"Yeah, sorry about that.", Emily apologized.
"We gotta get out of here!", Gilbert urged.
"I'm not going anywhere without my grandpa!", Ben responded as he opened the door and left.
"Make that both of us.", Gwen responded as she followed.
"And I'm not leaving either. Not without my dad. Besides, at least we're here to help you out now. You and the twins.", Emily assured as she and the three campers followed.
Outside, they were pressing forward as Ben turned to Gwen.
"What do you think they want?", Ben asked.
"Well, I took this advanced botany course last semester and I think...", Gwen began as the earth quakes just before a giant spore sprouted up from the ground.
"They want us. For plant food!", Ben exclaimed before he and the others ran back to the cabin only to notice another spore erupting from inside.
"Everyone out!", Emily urged before she, Ben, Gwen, Gilbert, Andy, and Mandy left the cabin, which then got broken apart by the in growing spores.
Then, more spores grew up from the ground before the quakes stopped.
"Okay. They stopped. That's good.", Ben spoke.
"Actually, it's worse. Those are puffballs containing mushroom spores.", Gilbert responded.
"Wait. Are you saying...that if those puffballs release those spores...?", Emily began to realize.
"It could spread over the whole state. Or even the whole country!", Gwen realized.
"Or worse, it could spread over the whole world!", Emily added before Ben then went ahead as he grabbed Gwen's arm and moved her back
"That's it. I'm going XLR8. I'm gonna save Grandpa and Dave and start chopping them down.", Ben spoke.
"You mean we're gonna save Grandpa and Dave and start chopping these spores down. Although, getting rid of those puffballs probably won't be easy.", Emily interjected.
"Actually, the only way to eliminate a mushroom i-is to destroy its mycelium.", Gilbert explained.
"And I'm guessing that's the core of all this, its brain, right?", Emily guessed.
"Yeah. Something like that.", Gwen responded.
"You guys know way too much about mushrooms.", Ben commented.
"At least it's paying off. We should get going.", Emily spoke as she started off.
"I'll see ya.", Ben spoke before Gwen stopped him and Emily.
"I'm coming with you two. He's my Grandpa, too.", Gwen spoke.
"We might share a bunch of stuff, Gwen, but we don't share these.", Ben responded, gesturing to the Omnitrix and Omni-Enhancer.
"Be careful.", Gwen warned.
"Yeah. You, too.", Emily responded to Gwen before she and Ben took off as Gwen looked determined.
Later, while Ben was in XLR8 form, Emily was in Diamondgal form heading to the last place they went before, this time with more mushrooms growing.
"This doesn't look good.", XLR8 spoke.
"It's getting even worse now. We'd better hurry.", Diamondgal urged before XLR8's visor went down as both then head down through the hole and looked around before moving forward and then looking around.
"Dad?!", Diamondgal called.
"Grandpa?!", XLR8 called before the mushroom creatures appeared, prompting both aliens to take off.
Meanwhile, at the Archery Range, Gwen, Gilbert, Andy, and Mandy ran to the middle of the area.
"If we can make it to the dining hall, maybe we can barricade ourselves in the kitchen.", Gilbert stated.
"And fight these things off with what? A spatula?!", Andy rebuffed.
"We are so dead meat. Oh, I hate it, hate it, hate it here!", Mandy complained.
Then, suddenly, a big mushroom grew with Andy and Mandy on top of it before it stopped, opened up, and then ate the twins by wrapping its tentacles around them and then stuffing them into itself for the digestion as Gwen stood up and ran to get something that can get them free.
Meanwhile, XLR8 and Diamondgal arrived at an impasse where vines appeared only to be cut down by the two aliens.
"Keep your roots to yourself!", XLR8 spoke.
"Okay. I may love plants, but this is too much!", Diamondgal added before she and XLR8 took off.
Back at the Archery Range, three arrows were fired at the giant mushroom, making it spew out gas before it died out as it landed.
"Bullseye!", Gwen spoke before she and Gilbert got both twins out as they coughed before more mushrooms erupted from the ground.
"Move it!", Gilbert shouted before they ran and stopped near the rock-climbing wall as more mushrooms erupted.
"We have to get to higher ground!", Gwen urged as she looked up.
"But the rock wall is only for the older campers.", Mandy responded as Gwen looked back and saw the smaller mushroom creatures glaring in the shadows.
"Call me crazy, but right now, I think some camp rules are meant to be broken.", Gwen responded.
Meanwhile, Max and Dave just woke up as XLR8 and Diamondgal finally arrived as they tore down the vines blocking their way.
"Grandpa!", XLR8 spoke before dashing over to Max to try to get the vines off him.
"Dad! You're okay!", Diamondgal grinned with slight tears before heading out to free Dave as well.
"Ben...", Max spoke.
"Emily...? How did you...?", Dave added.
"Save your strength, guys. We'll have you both out in just a...", Diamondgal spoke before XLR8's Omnitrix symbol started beeping and flashing red light before the red light overcame him and then diminished, yet again showing that Ben is now back in human form.
"No!", Ben exclaimed.
"Ben, behind you!", Max warned before the vines started grabbing Ben.
"Grandpa!", Ben shouted.
"Ben!", Diamondgal shouted before her Omni-Enhancer started beeping and flashing dark blue light before timing out, the dark blue light overwhelming her before dimming down, showing that Emily is back to normal before the vines took her, too.
"No!", Emily shouted as the vines finally wrapped themselves around both Ben and Emily.
Act IV
Meanwhile, Gwen and the others climbed up the rock wall and moved forward.
"Come on! We gotta keep moving!", Gwen urged before she, Gilbert, Andy, and Mandy noticed an entire array of mushrooms and puffballs in the area with the twins starting to fight over one zipline.
"Me first!", Andy shouted.
"No, me!", Mandy argued.
"Does it really matter? Now, zip it!", Gwen urged before Mandy gave a raspberry at Andy before Mandy went down the zipline first followed by Andy, Gwen, and Gilbert, who screamed as he went down.
Meanwhile, Max spoke to Ben.
"Ben, can you reach your watch?", Max asked.
"I'm trying!", Ben grunted, trying time press down on the dial.
"What about you, Emily? Can you reach yours?", Dave asked.
"That's a little difficult right now.", Emily responded as she, too had a similar difficulty.
"I think it needs more time to recharge.", Ben responded as he tried to press down on the dial before he and Emily succeed, this time with both green and cyan lights gradually getting brighter.
"Got it!", Emily spoke before the green and cyan lights overtook Ben and Emily.
For Ben's transformation, vines wrapped themselves around Ben before his body had changed to the point that he had green skin, five legs, secondary blue eyes on each of his shoulders, seeds on his back, and flytrap-like flaps which opened up to show his head with only a stem on top in place of his hair, sharp teeth, and a big blue eye as he screeched before moving his arms back and stood in a pose. As for Emily's case, the green vines only tapped themselves around her body and became part of her as her neck collar grew flytrap-like flaps around her head, her skin turns green, and her clothes tore away, showing her completely green body as her legs changed and multiplied from 2 to 5 while her hair grew a pink rose on top and her left wrist grew a blue flower around it while her right wrist grew a red one around it while blue pod-like fruit grew from her back before she then struck a pose as the transformations finished, leaving Max and Dave in awe.
"What the heck are those?", Max asked.
"And why are they...plant-like?", Dave puzzled.
"I don't know. But...strangely, this feels so right. Do you know, Ben?", Emily asked she turned to Ben, now in a different alien form.
"Beats me. I never went him before.", Ben responded in a deep voice before he grew thorn-like spikes from his arms and legs to get rid of the vines as Emily did the same thing, setting themselves free.
"But I like what he can do.", Ben added as he then sharpened his hand enough to cut the vines and set Max free.
"Okay. Now me.", Emily spoke before she did the same thing for Dave.
"Whew. A little close for comfort, but it works.", Dave grinned.
"You guys okay?", Emily asked.
"Well, none the worse for wear.", Dave responded before Azmuth suddenly appeared from the holo message via Emily's Omni-Enhancer.
"Well, well, well. I see that this is your first time using the DNA sample of a Florauna. That is quite an exotic find. Not really rare, but it'll do. You see, this species is normally savage by nature and have little intelligence other than pure instinct. Florauna typically live in large colonies. In fact, if any intruders are detected in said colony, the Florauna will not hesitate to attack, nor would they stop attacking them until they capture at least one of the intruders to offer as a meal to the colony's chief.", Azmuth stated.
"Oh, boy...", Emily spoke after gulping nervously from the fact.
"However, some Florauna can be peaceful creatures. And there's more. Not only can the Florauna grow and alter the size of their bodies like real plants, but they can also retract it again at will. I assume you'll discover more of this sircies' capabilities soon enough as you seem busy at the moment. Until then, good luck.", Azmuth spoke before the holo message ended.
"Well, this oughta be interesting.", Emily grinned.
"Yeah. But first, let's get out of here, guys.", Ben agreed.
Then, a sudden voice rang out.
"You're not going anywhere.", the voice echoed.
"That voice. You hear that, right?", Emily asked.
"Hear what?", Max puzzled before the vines erupted from below and grabbed him and Max.
"Hang on!", Emily urged before she and Ben grabbed Max and Dave only to get dragged down by the vines as well before they were brought down to a cave with pink light instead of dark blue light where they are now in the presence of a sort of brain covered with fungus as it spoke.
"I communicate with all vegetation on a telepathic level.", the voice spoke.
"What? Telepathic?", Emily puzzled.
Meanwhile, Mandy, Andy, Gwen, and Gilbert, who was still screaming, were still going down the zipline when one of the mushroom creatures appeared and started nibbling on the rope, biting it off completely before the group landed on a couple of mushrooms before landing on the ground with the twins panicking upon noticing swarms of mushroom creatures before Gilbert looked around and saw a storage shed.
"In there!", Gilbert shouted before he, Gwen, and the twins ran for it just before the vines erupted from the ground and charged toward the group as Gilbert screamed before Andy opened the door with Mandy, Gwen, and Gilbert going into before Gwen closed they door just in time, causing the vines to hit the door before Gwen panted.
"We wouldn't even be here now if you didn't make us hide in the kitchen!", Andy blamed.
"Me? It was your idea in the first place!", Mandy argued, pointing her finger at Andy.
"Well, you didn't have to listen to me!", Andy retorted as Gwen quickly grew tired of the arguing.
"Stop it!", Gwen shouted before the twins only pointed to each other.
"She started it!", Andy shouted.
"He started it!", Mandy spoke at the same time Andy shouted as they both pointed their fingers at each other.
"It doesn't matter who started it or whose fault it is. What matters is your family and you need to stick together. Got it?", Gwen asked before the twins glared at each other begrudgingly.
"Okay.", the twins responded.
"Good, because we're gonna need to fight our way out of here.", Gwen responded as she grabbed a baseball bat near the door.
Meanwhile, Ben, Emily, Max, and Dave were in the presence of a fungal brain.
"Wait. You're the one who's behind all this, aren't you?", Emily guessed.
"So let me guess, you're the brainiac.", Ben guessed.
"I prefer Mycelium.", Mycelium responded as he opened his mouth.
"Ben, who are you and Emily talking to?", Max asked.
"It's Mycelium. I think he's speaking to us telepathically like we're connected.", Emily asked.
"Oh, man! Why can't you be a vegetarian?", Ben groaned.
"Do you even hear the words coming out of your mouth right now?", Emily asked.
"Struggle as you may, you cannot stop me. Soon, I will consume every living creature on this planet.", Mycelium stated.
"Sorry, Mycelium, but you're dinner plans just got cancelled.", Emily retorted before she poked through the vines with her spikes, setting herself free.
"And you're not starting with us!", Ben added before he fell down alongside Emily with both lurching their arms forward and grabbing the top dirt of the crevice to stop their descent, causing each of their fruit from their backs to fall out and explode like bombs, causing damage to the Mycelium.
"Whoa. Did not know it can do that.", Emily commented before she and Ben went over to Max and Dave before landing on one of Mycelium's tendrils.
"Surely as plants, you two must understand the wisdom of sharing a single intelligence.", Mycelium spoke telepathically.
"I'm not good at sharing anything. Just ask my cousin.", Ben responded.
"And for the record, we plants have a name. Call me Wildrose.", Wildrose added.
"And while you're at it, call me Wildvine.", Wildvine added as he grabbed the black fruit grenades from his back as Wildrose did the same with her blue fruit grenades before they both leapt up and tossed their fruits at Mycelium.
Meanwhile, Gwen kicked the door open before charging in with a baseball bat as Mandy with her paintball gun and mask, Andy with a hockey mask, puck, gloves, and stick, and Gilbert with a ball launcher followed her before Gwen whacked one of the mushroom creatures away with a home run before two more creatures were sent back as the 2nd slid down on the mushroom backwards before Gwen, Andy, and Mandy gave a battle as they ran while Gilbert ran to catch up. Then, Mandy fired red paintballs on the creatures while Andy laid out a hockey puck and hit the other creatures with it as it ricocheted on them as one of the creatures attempted to attack from above only to get shot away from the twins by a sudden surprise shot from a baseball, causing the twins to look back and see Gilbert, who gave a light giggle.
"Nice shot. Uh-oh.", the twins spoke in unison before they ran as they dropped their weapons before Gilbert turned and saw a stampede of mushroom creatures headed for them.
Gwen, Andy, and Mandy ran ahead before stopping, looking to the left, and then running in that direction as Gilbert ran with a scream before turning back and then running in the direction Gwen and the others went as the mushroom creatures arrived and looked around. Then, Gwen and the others stopped near the water before she noticed a boat with paddles near the body of water.
"Everyone thinking what I'm thinking?", Gwen asked before later, she, Andy, Mandy, and Gilbert were holding the boat up and ramming into the mushroom creatures.
"Charge!", the group shouted as the mushroom creatures were rammed.
"Take no prisoners!", Gilbert added before the boat was dropped and he screamed as he, Gwen, Andy, and Mandy ran for the kitchen only for Mandy to get grabbed by one of the tentacles from the ground and lifted in the air as Andy stopped and looked back to notice before unzipping a bag of hockey equipment and then getting out a pair of hockey shoes.
Then, Mandy grunted, trying to get the tentacle off her before looking down to notice Andy spinning the hockey shoes at a fast speed before tossing them toward the tentacle, slicing it off and freeing Mandy, who then landed on top of her brother before running as Andy got back up in puzzlement with messy hair before Mandy went back for him and grabbed him by the shoulders before the twins caught up with Gwen and Gilbert with the former closing the door as the creatures swarmed the area.
Meanwhile, Wildvine and Wildrose sliced off the tendrils with spikes on their arms.
"Resistance is futile. For even if you two destroy me, you cannot possibly destroy the billions of my spores I am about to release into your atmosphere.", Mycelium discouraged before Wildvine and Wildrose landed.
"We'll worry about them next.", Wildvine responded before his Omnitrix started beeping and flashing red light before said light overtook him and changed him back to Ben.
"Oh, no.", Wildrose spoke in worry before the vines grabbed Ben, Max, and Dave before moving them close toward Mycelium's mouth.
"Guys..., I'm sorry.", Ben apologized.
"Don't give up yet, Ben!", Wildrose shouted as she started growing bigger, puzzling her before she became just as big as Mycelium.
"Wow. I may have often said that veggies can help you grow, but this is ridiculous.", Dave commented.
Meanwhile, the entry to the kitchen was barricaded before Gwen, Gilbert, and the twins turned around to notice the mushroom creatures getting in from the back entrance, making them scream before the vines broke through the barricade at the front, allowing the mushroom creatures to enter and surround Gwen, Gilbert, Andy, and Mandy.
Back at the lower cave, the giant Wildrose towered over Mycelium.
"Don't eat them! I'm warning you!", Wildrose warned as her spikes grew from her arms and hands.
"If we're going down, I'm at least gonna take the fun out of this fungus.", Max spoke as he kicked against one of Mycelium's tongues.
"That's it.", Ben spoke in realization.
"That's what?", Max asked.
"You said the foot powder kills all kinds of fungus, Grandpa.", Ben spoke.
"Wait. Of course.", Wildrose grinned.
"Do you honestly think you can destroy me with size alone?", Mycelium asked.
"Not really. Good thing it isn't just size I'm relying on.", Wildrose responded before the flowers on her wrists bloomed and merged with her hands, allowing her to send out pollen made of the foot powder toward Mycelium, causing him to deteriorate violently.
"Now, Ben!", Wildrose shouted before Ben then opened the whole bottle of foot powder and tossed it into Mycelium's mouth, adding more fuel for the flames as Mycelium started to explode in small increments before the vines weakened enough to allow Ben, Dave, and Max to land on the ground.
"We'd better get out of here! Things are gonna get messy!", Wildrose warned before she picked up Ben, Max, and Dave and placed them near her head before her flytrap flaps closed and she went up the ground just before Mycelium exploded.
Meanwhile, at the kitchen, one of the mushroom creatures started shaking and wrinkling up before laying down on the ground as the rest of the mushrooms followed suit.
"What just happened?", Gilbert asked before Gwen smiled in realization.
"Ben and Emily just happened.", Gwen responded.
Later, she, Gilbert, Andy, and Mandy were walking out of the kitchen.
"This camp rocks!", Andy and Mandy spoke excitedly.
"Oh, yeah. I can't wait to go back.", Gilbert agreed before Wildrose emerged from the ground before opening her flytrap flaps to show Ben, Max, and Dave next to her head.
"Whew! I could get used to this.", Wildrose grinned.
Then, Gilbert gave a slight scream before fainting.
"Oh, boy. Here we go again.", Wildrose sighed as she set Ben, Max, and Dave down before shrinking back down and then pressing the badge on her chest and reverting back to normal as a cyan light overwhelmed her before dimming down.
"You two did it!", Gwen grinned.
"Almost. We still gotta stop those spores.", Ben responded, gesturing to the spores above.
"Wait. Did you say that everyone at camp gets Althete's foot?", Emily asked before Andy nodded.
Later, at the nurse's office, Ben opened a cabinet that showed several bottles of Athlete's Foot Powder and grabbed one of those.
"Any brilliant ideas on how to let this stuff go?", Ben asked.
"Actually, as a matter of fact...", Gwen began before later in the morning, Gwen was riding on top of Stinkfly with Noctura, Emily's Ectonurite Hybrid form, flying alongside him showering the spores with Athlete's Foot Powder, causing the spores to wither away with Gwen laughing as Noctura gave an excited "Whoo-hoo!".
Later in the afternoon, Ben, Gwen, Emily, Max, and Dave are now at a pizza restaurant.
"Nice work, guys. Couldn't have done it without ya.", Ben grinned.
"Aw. Thanks.", Emily grinned.
"Anytime.", Gwen added.
"And I was thinking. I guess I could have my birthday anytime. You take the real date.", Ben grinned.
"That's nice of you. But it's really no big deal. You take the real date.", Gwen grinned before Ben suddenly got childish again.
"Sneak! I knew I'd get it after only one, 'you take the real date.'", Ben smirked as Gwen growled.
"Dweeb!", Gwen spoke in frustration before Emily groaned in frustration.
"Here we go again.", Emily groaned.
"These two never give up, do they?", Dave asked.
"Oh, well. Guess you two really can't agree on anything.", Max sighed before the waiter laid out the pizza with the one thing that Ben, Gwen, and Emily don't like in common.
"Mushrooms?!", Ben, Gwen, and Emily exclaimed.
"Gross!", Ben added as Max picked up a slice.
"Well, almost anything.", Max grinned before taking a bite of the slice.
"Yeah, I don't know how to respond to this.", Emily commented as she gave a nervous grin.
A/N: So, what did you think? Pretty cool, right? Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get my fanfic for "Scooby-Doo and the Curse of the 13th Ghost" ready for this Halloween. Until next time. :)
