Mark glanced up at the lizard-like monster, his eyes arching upward, "I'm not a power ranger," he insisted, "I've never even seen a power ranger before."

"Don't be foolish," the monster hissed, breathing a puff of green smoke into Mark's face. "I know a ranger when I see one."

The world around Mark spun at the same time that it went dark.

"Mark, Mark," A voice called out from the distance, as the world seemed to shake him.

Mark slowly opened his eyes, only to let out a scream, standing over him was a fuzzy-looking monster, "Stay away from me!" he cried out, kicking out with strong legs.

"Whoa, Mark, calm down it's just me, Mason," the monster insisted, "You know, your roommate."

"Stay away you monster!" Mark screamed, scrambling onto his feet, "I don't know what you are talking about me being a power ranger. I've never met one before in my life."

"Did you just say..." the monster trailed off, "Guys," Mark couldn't tell for sure but it looked like the monster was talking into his wrist, "I think I found the monster."

"I found Mark passed out in our room," Mason explained, "And when I woke him up he thought I was a monster, and started going on about how he wasn't a power ranger."

"The monster must have broken into your room and mistook Mark for you." Frank guessed.

"Man, that is harsh, do you think the monster did something to mix up his sight so that he would see a monster instead of Mason?" J.T. asked, "That would be harsh, seeing monsters all over the place on your first day of school."

"If we defeat the Monster that attacked Mark, it should free him from the spell," Sara added, "At least that is how monsters tend to work."

"Great how do we find the Monster?" Frank asked, "We have no idea what it looks like, and Mark is too scared of the monsters we appear to be to tell us what's going on."

"Well," Sara said, "I'm just stabbing at the dark here, but Mark was attacked in his room, after being mistaken for Mason, so what are the chances that the monster will come after the rest of us in our rooms?"

"If we hide in the secret passageways," Frank continued, "We can jump the monster when he enters the room."

"I know that I'm not supposed to tell you this but there's going to be a bed check tonight that we have to factor in," Ms. Johnson announced.

Everyone turned to look at J.T., who chuckled nervously, "Why everyone looking at me?" he asked.

"If anyone knows how to sneak out at night with no one knowing you would," Melody said.

"Why would you say that."

"Social media," Ms. Johnson said, "If you don't want the teachers to know about your late-night parties, you shouldn't tag the school in the post."

"Just so you know that late-night party was from last year."

"J.T." Sara said, snapping her fingers in front of the black ranger's face, "Focus, how do we trick, not just the monster but whichever teacher does the bed checks that we are in bed."

"Ever heard of rearranging pillows?" J.T. asked, "Believe me, it actually works."

"Let's go," Frank said, "J.T. and I will stake out our room, the girls will stake out theirs, and Ms. Johnson, you and Mason are in charge of his room."

Mordred was furious, how could Bane Mirage mess up so greatly? His job was simple enough, find and put the power rangers under his spell, making them see monsters instead of their teammates, but instead, he spelled the wrong teen and now the Power Rangers were onto them.

J.T. carefully poked Frank who was starting to droop, so far Mr. Pearson, one of the math teachers, had stuck his head into the room, but the pillow arrangement had seemed to work, surprisingly well, considering how often it worked on TV. Now the door was opening once more, the bed check was over, so there was only one thing it could be.

"The monster," he hissed, in case Frank hadn't come to that conclusion himself.

Frank nodded, wordlessly pulling out his morpher, as J.T. sent the signal to the others, alerting them to the fact that the monster was at their room. As soon as the monster was in position they would strike and the others would rush over to help as soon as possible.

Inside the room the monster paused in front of J.T.'s bed, pulling down the blankets to reveal the pillows, "What?" Bane Mirage exclaimed, "He's not here."

"That's because we're behind you," J.T. announced stepping out of the closet, "It's morphing time!"

The battle was short and sweet, Bane Mirage had been so taken aback by the ambush that by the time he had recovered from the shock the others had already shown up and he was vastly outnumbered. After that, it was only a short fight before Bane Mirage was defeated.

"Mark," Mason called out, nudging his roommate, "Hey, Mark, the Wake Up Bell rang," he insisted.

Mark groaned, rolling over, "What?" he asked.

"The Wake Up Bell has rung, it's time to wake up."

"What happened to the monsters?" Mark asked groggily.

"There was only one monster, you mistook me as a monster," Mason insisted.

"Sorry, I don't know what happened, I just remember a monster towering over me, calling me a power ranger. Why would the monster call me a power ranger."

"I don't know," Mason lied, "I don't know much about monsters.

Mark frowned, noticing that Mason's nose twitched when he talked, he was lying but why would Mason lie about monsters?

The cafeteria was a buzz as Mason and Mark entered the room, "I wonder what all the excitement is about?" Mason asked, looking around, a group of upperclassmen stood crowding over a section of wall, "What's going on?" he demanded.

"There's going to be a dance," J.T. announced, bouncing with excitement, "Girl ask Boy."

"Oh," Mark said, scrapping his toe across the floor, "That's nice, but I don't know any girls."

"You know Sara and Melody," Mason pointed out.

"But aren't you going with Sara?" J.T. asked, "The two of you are inseparable."

"We're… I don't know, we've never discussed our relationship, but she's like a sister, that's all. We both lost our mothers at a young age and recently lost our fathers, or in Sara's case her father figure, but still, we have a lot in common, but we aren't dating."

"Oh," J.T. sighed, "And here I thought you two were madly in love."

"Well we aren't, at least, I don't think we are."

...The Forest…

Mordred was furious, another perfect plan ruined, he stormed into his tent, past the form of Morgana, and pulled out a dusty crystal ball, it wasn't perfect, the blasted morphin' power protected the power rangers from being spied on, but perhaps spying on the school, in general, would be enlighting.
