Not so musical.
Krampus jumped into the next world with vigor, only to be met with almost the same scenery that he had been met with in the world he had just left.
Same time.
Same starting point.
Krampus sighed. This world was almost the same, just it seemed like there was less in it.
He'd dreaded it when things started to get interesting, back to the stagnating holiday that held no difference than the last.
There really wasn't much for him to do but his job.
So time to get to work.
-Line Break-
There he was back wandering the streets of New York City. He'd been wandering a while, hoping that some of the last Christmas was going to be like this one.
But it wasn't
This world just felt like it was on a bigger stage, but with less to it, less ofthe fun things that came with the job.
He even checked that Chinese restaurant, just to see if there was going to be something good going on.
Nothing.
Well the Santas were there, even the same manager, just none of the music. Just sad guys that were waiting for the night to end. Worn from the emotional labor of days of putting on a jolly face to be responded with anything and everything but.
He even tried to start things up, just to see if things could be put in a better mood. All he got from that was scornful looks and the manager getting angry that a supposed drunkard was making the patrons uncomfortable.
After his first experience of being thrown out onto the streets of New York he decided to just wait for the clock to run out.
Until he heard something that he didn't get to hear often. Sure it was rare but he never expected it when it happened.
He heard the sound of all the Christmas magic that accompanied Santa's sleigh crash into the ground.
At the realization of what the sound was he shot up to the sky and tried to trace where it came from.
He was able to see the small trail of smoke of the engine that the Santa of this world used, though he really wasn't thinking when he went to it directly rather than follow it.
He got up to where it was starting in the clouds and was able to approximate where it could have possibly landed.
Though his eyes could have told him that with the small trail of smoke that was climbing to the sky. Just one problem, there were two of them now.
He just decided to fan out a bit and get a sense of what went wrong and how he could help. What he didn't count on was how much he had decided to fan out rather than just going with what he could see from above.
A few minutes of weaving in between the trees and he was on the trail to find the fallen Claus.
A small issue arose when he heard the sounds of hoofbeats on the ground. Sure he knew the sound, he heard it whenever he walked somewhere in the dead of night. Just that he wasn't the one making the noise, and there were a whole lot more sets of hoofbeats than just one. He turned around just in time to see the police horsemen gather up and speed off in a direction.
Well that was easy.
Krampus sped ahead of these guys and shot through the trees faster than their gazes could catch.
What he found was a guy dressed as Santa, which he ignored, and just ahead was the sleigh.
Krampus materialized behind the sleigh, hoping that he'd be able to catch a word with the man. Until the sleigh started to move and it left a bewildered elf underneath.
He was about to ask the guy if he was okay, but he was only met with the surprisingly tall elf to take off after the sleigh.
Krampus waited a bit, just so that he could get onto the thing, and then he sped off right to the back of the sleigh.
"Alright Claus what's the proble-ahhh"
Not his best moment, sure he could have thought of something better, but how was he supposed to know that the sleigh would fall a bit under his weight. Not enough for it to stop altogether, but enough for a nasty bump that caused him to fall off.
Face met snow and snow met hellfire. The small column of steam that accompanied his tumble was blinding to the horses behind him. Just enough for them to slow down a bit.
You know what. Krampus had enough of this world. No fun, no songs, no dances, just one mishap to end the night. He was done and ready to get going.
Yeah, yeah you know how it goes.
He's gone.
