Happy Halloween! Hope y'all enjoy this long awaited one shot (multiple shot)!!
3rd person POV-
"May I have everyone's attention please" Six spoke. All the operators stopped chatting and looked over to where Six had entered the mess hall. "Thank you everyone. As you know, tonight is Halloween" Six paused as a bunch of the ops cheered in celebration. "Since the spawn of Rainbow, you all have worked tirelessly and endlessly to better yourselves, your teammates, and the world. What we stand for is well known to the UN, and I can agree with them when I say I am extremely proud of each and every one of you" Another round of applause and cheering filled the mess hall. "As a thank you to everyone, and a special treat, training for today and tomorrow are cancelled." This sent cheers through the crowd, making Six chuckle. "In their stead, you have the two days open to do whatever you feel. Just...keep it legal" A wave of laughter flowed through the mess hall. "And, as another special treat-" Six produced a list from her pocket. "-the operators Fuze, Maverick, Nomad, Doc, and Caveira, led and directed by Ash, have set up a Halloween party at HQ tonight. The party is an all night affair" This sent the largest round of cheers and applause into the mess hall. "That is all, Ops" Six spoke when the noise died down.
"All night, huh?" Fuze asked, nudging Ash. Ash chuckled.
"What can I say? I'm festive" she shrugged, taking another bite of her chocolate chip pancakes; a special halloween treat from the mess hall.
"Hey, I'm down for an all night party" Maverick spoke up, earning a laugh from Nomad.
"You always are" she said, sharing a chuckle with Ash. Maverick laughed along, finishing his pancakes, and wrapping his arm around Nomad, smiling when she leaned into him.
"So, is their an official time for this party?" Doc asked, leaning his head to the side in order to see passed Caveira, who was currently on his lap. Ash shook her head.
"Nothing official, no. Just come when it gets dark" Doc nodded, feeding Caveira a bite of pancake.
-timeskip to 6PM-
"Happy Halloween!" Ash cheered, raising her glass of punch. The other operators followed suit, raising their glasses, toasting to Halloween night. Once the toast was over, the party officially began. Dokkaebi volunteered to be the DJ, not that anyone was surprised. Once the toast ended, she flipped on her Halloween playlist, livening up the party.
"As always, babe, you got the best beats" Pulse chuckled from next to her.
"Is anyone surprised?" she laughed. Pulse laughed along with her.
"I guess not" he decided, stepping onto the DJ podium. Dokkaebi held her hand out.
"Woah woah woah! Dj's only, buddy" she smirked. Pulse chuckled.
"Can't we make an acception?" he pleaded. Dokkaebi shook her head.
"Even if I wanted to, there's not enough room" she shrugged. Pulse thought for a second, before nodding.
"Then let's dance" he decided. Dokkaebi laughed, until she saw her boyfriend's face.
"Oh, you're serious?" she asked. Pulse nodded.
"I want to spend some time with you. I plan on hanging out in the training room later with some of the guys, so I wanted to spend time with you now." Dokkaebi smiled, and nodded.
"Vincete!" she called. Capitao looked up to her from where he was chatting with Doc and Caveria. "Come here!" Sighing, he excused himself, and walked up to Dokkaebi.
"What's the need?" Capitao asked.
"I need you to be DJ for a few minutes" Dokkaebi filled in. Capitao's eye grew wide.
"I'm sorry, but I'm no music man" he mentioned. Dokkaebi persisted.
"It's only for a little bit! Plus, all you have to do is keep the music playing. Maybe add some scratching here and there. Just so Jack and I can dance." Capitao sighed and nodded.
"No promises for good music" he mentioned, getting up on the booth.
"Just keep it on my playlist!" Dokkaebi called as she and Pulse walked to the dance floor set up in the Mess Hall
"Oh, jeez!" Maverick shrieked as an animatronic zombie popped out and him. "That one got me good". Nomad laughed from next to him. Maverick gave his girlfriend a puzzled look. "That didn't scare you?" he asked as the zombie reset.
"I knew it was coming" Nomad laughed. Maverick knit his eyebrows.
"How?" he asked as they proceeded to the final room of the haunted house that was set up in the indoor training course.
"Long hallway? No sounds? Dark as hell? Perfect for a jumpscare" Nomad's smile fell as they entered the final room. "Okay but this-" she pointed around the room "-really creeps me out". The room was heavily decorated with fake blood and fake limbs, creepy pumpkins, and a bunch of other little details that gave Nomad the jitters. Maverick felt her shiver and move closer to him. Smiling, he slipped his hand into hers.
"You got this. I'm still here after the jumpscare." he motivated. Nomad nodded.
"Fair". She was still nervous, but having Maverick there with her, she felt good. As she predicted, there were a few jumpscares, mainly catching Maverick off guard, to which she found hilarious. On the other end, there were some things that made Nomad shiver in fear. When it happened, Maverick felt her freeze up a bit. He would always pull her in to him, and walk her beyond what made her afraid. Upon the couple's exit, they both let out a huge breath of relief.
"Well, that was pretty scary" Maverick chuckled. Nomad nodded, taking a seat at the table set up outside the haunted house, complete with pumpkin bread, candy corn, and apple cider.
"Makes me glad I had you there" Nomad smiled, grabbing a slice of pumpkin bread. Maverick sat down next to her.
"I had you there as well. We both helped each other" Maverick stated, popping a candy corn in his mouth.
"Yeah, we make a good couple" Nomad chuckled, taking a bite of her pumpkin bread.
"Definitely" Maverick nodded, giving Nomad a kiss on the cheek. Nomad put down her pumpkin bread and looked Maverick in the eye, smiling.
"You missed" she smirked. Maverick knit his eyebrows.
"Huh?" Nomad leaned in closer.
"I said, you missed." With that, she closed the gap between the two of them, connecting their lips. Maverick pulled her in closer, and they shared a perfect Halloween kiss.
Caveira gasped for air as her head came back out of the water. As her breathing steadied, she stood up, grabbed a hand towel from the table next to her, and started drying her face.
"Babe, you shouldn't stay submerged that long" Doc advised. Caveira waved him off.
"I don't do things half-ass, Gustave. And when I start something, I finish it." she told him, finishing drying her face, preparing for her next go. Doc chuckled.
"You know, I'm pretty surprised that Ash put in bobbing for apples. I feel like that was more of a teen thing" he said. Caveira smirked.
"What I'm pretty surprised at is that I was GOOD at this when I was a teen" she sighed. "Had a lot more eye-to-mouth coordination back then". Doc chuckled, taking the towel back from his girlfriend.
"Try not to drown yourself, Taina-"
"Gus, I'm fine" Caveira said, holding up her hand. "Trust me" Gus shrugged, stepping back as Caveira knelt down to the water bucket. After taking a deep breath, she plunged her head right in. Doc sighed. Ever since they found out about the bobbing for apples, when Dokkaebi called Capitao away from their conversation, Caveira had been at it non-stop. Doc was pulled from his thoughts when non other than Capitao came over next to him.
"Still at it, huh?" he asked Doc, nodded to Caveira. Doc sighed again.
"Still going strong. She's persistent, I'll give her that." Capitao laughed.
"I taught her that. Though, she seems to never like to give up now. Even on the very minor things." Doc nodded, looking back to Caveira, who had just brought her head out of the water again.
"I hear that" Doc agreed, watching his girlfriend so a small victory dance, bright red apple hanging out of her mouth. Doc's eyes went wide, while Capitao chuckled.
"Other times, though, I feel like I taught her right" Doc chuckled along with Capitao as Caveira came over to them, smiling brightly.
"I love it when you smile" Doc said, taking his girlfriend into his arms.
"I don't do it often so enjoy it" Caveira smirked, earning a laugh from Doc and Capitao.
"I'll leave you two to it" Capitao smiled, patting Doc on the back before taking his leave. The couple broke apart, and Doc gave Caveira a weird look.
"Leave us to what?" he asked. Caveira sighed, letting her head fall into her hand, her apple still in her other hand.
"He'll never let us live that down" she growled. Doc knit his eyebrows, before understanding what Caveira was talking about. His eyes went wide for the second time that night.
"Um…" Doc muttered, but Caveira cut him off by putting her index finger over his mouth.
"Shut. It." She said, seductively, slowly pushing Doc against the wall in the lounge, kissing him passionately. Doc's eyes were popping out of his skull, and he was bright red. Caveira noticed this, and pulled away slightly, making sure she was still very close to him. "I'm not releasing you until you kiss back, ya know"
"Are you sure now is a good time?" Doc asked, worryingly. Caveira's eyes widened. She cursed herself internally for leading him on the way she did.
"Oh, geez, no Gustave! I didn't mean for you to think I wanted-" She was cut off by Doc's lips on her own. Unlike Doc, she didn't complain, melting into his arms.
"How are you feeling?" Zofia asked her sister. Ela shrugged. Doc had let her attend the party, so long as she had a set of eyes watching her, just in case something happened.
"A lot better than yesterday." Ela gave a half-hearted smile to her sister, as Jager came back with three cups of punch.
"Drinks are served" he retorted, handing out the drinks in perfect waiter fashion. Ela chuckled, taking a swig of her punch. Zofia leaned to Jager.
"You can go hang out with the guys if you want, Marius." she whispered. Jager shook his head, taking a seat at the mess hall table next to Ela.
"I'd rather be with my girlfriend." he said, wrapping his arms around her. Ela fell into his warm embrace, throwing her head back to give him a quick peck on the lips.
"I love you" Ela moaned, breaking the kiss.
"I love you too, Ela" Jager said back, helping her sit back upright at the table. Zofia rolled her eyes, but a smile was there. 'He really is perfect for her' she thought. "How are you feeling?" Jager asked Ela. Ela chuckled.
"Zofia asked the exact same thing. I'm doing fine, trust me" she laughed. Jager and Zofia laughed along with her. Ela then looked from Jager to Zofia, then back again, making Jager slightly worried.
"What is it, El?" Jager asked. Ela smiled shyly.
"Would I be able to have a beer-" before anyone could say anything else, Zofia interrupted.
"Absolutely not." she said, rather sternly. Seeing the look of disappointment on Ela's face, Zofia sighed. "I didn't mean to pounce like that, El. But until you're fully healed, you can't have alcohol. Doc's orders" Ela sighed, and nodded. Jager hated seeing her like this. Suddenly, an idea came into his head.
"Give me a minute" Jager excused himself, as he headed back over to the refreshments table. Not a minute later, he returned to the table, carrying a tray of cups of various drinks, and a ping pong ball.
"What's all this for?" Zofia asked, peering into the drink cups. Jager began setting up the cups into a pyramid shape at one end of the table.
"I figured we could do some virgin beer-pong." Jager shrugged, setting up the other end of the table. Ela heard this, and got up, excitedly.
"So I'm able to play?" she asked. Jager nodded.
"That's the point". A second later, Jager was crushed by a hug from a very jumpy Ela.
"Thank you babe!" she said, pulling out of the hug. When Jager finished setting up the cups, the game commenced. It was Ela and Zofia against Jager.
"Okay, since there are two of you, whoever tossed the ball last has to drink if I get one in." Jager explained. Ela and Zofia both nodded in agreement. "Everything is non-alcoholic, as explained, and everything is enjoyable. Nothing...detering" he filled in. Zofia breathed a sigh of relief, earning a smirk from Jager. "Did you not trust me?" he asked.
"I do, but how am I supposed to know I'm not about to drink pure grapefruit juice?" Zofia asked. Jager chuckled.
"Everything is enjoyable. Though, not everything is sweet. That's all I'll say" Jager said. Nodding, Ela took the first toss, landing the ball directly into the middle cup on Jager's side. "Well" Jager said, picking up the cup and taking the ball out. "Here goes nothing." Jager downed the drink, setting the cup down. "Wow. Who knew apple cider had a cinnamon kick to it." he chuckled. Ela smiled as Jager tossed the ball to her side. "Two more tries, El." Ela proceeded to miss the next two tries, much to her dismay.
"Dang it. I need a reflex on the ball" Ela muttered, arnign a laugh from Zofia and Jager.Jager took his turn, tossing the ball three times. Like Ela's turn before him, he only managed to sink one. Smiling, Ela took the shot of the drink, then looked down the table at Jager. "Water? Really?" she asked. Jager shrugged.
"I took what was there" he said, tossing the ball to Zofia. Half hour later, the game was over. Ela and Zofia had won by one cup, but everyone had had enough to drink. Now, they all sat in the lounge, enjoying the music from Dokkaebi.
"Thank you, babe. That was fun" Ela said, leaning her head onto Jager's shoulder.
"Of course. You deserve to have fun tonight." Jager responded, running his hand through her short, green hair.
"Pumpkin bread for my favorite ops." Zofia said as she came back with a full loaf of pumpkin bread. Jager immediately took a slice and bit into it. Ela chuckled at her boyfriend's love for sweets.
"Amazing stuff, this is." he said. Zofia laughed.
"Alright, Yoda" she said. Jager eyed her.
"Find that funny, I do not. Make me laugh, you won't" he said in his best Yoda impression. Ela grabbed a slice of pumpkin bread, and leaned back into Jager, nibbling on the slice, and smiling to herself, thinking about how lucky she was to have him.
"Whaddya think?" Kali asked, turning her pumpkin around to show Ace her design, that being the face of the Vendetta. Ace chuckled.
"Love the movies, love the design." he smiled at his girlfriend, who smiled back. Inspecting her design, Kali grabbed her serrated knife, and began carving along the sharpie lines. "Careful, babe. I don't want you to loose a finger!" Ace said to her as she began carving her pumpkin. Kali chuckled.
"Babe, trust me, I handled knives a lot. I'm okay" she said, finishing her initial cut. A few minutes went by until Kali finished carving out her design. "See? All done, and not a scratch on me" she boasted.
"Okay okay, you were right." Ace laughed. He then revealed his design: It was of both his and Kali's operating logos, with a heart around them. Kali gasped, her hands flying to her mouth.
"Babe, that...that is amazing!" Kali cried, wiping a tear. Ace got up, and came around the table to Kali's side, where he took her in his arms.
"Hey, hey babe, what's wrong?" He asked, rubbing her back.
"Y...you made this amazing pumpkin carving for the two of us, and all I did was the stupid Vendetta." she sniffled. Ace chuckled.
"Babe, no one was wanting you to make something that depicts the two of us. It's you're design. You're work. I'm just as happy for you're design as I would've been had you made one depicting us." On hearing this, Kali wrapped her arms around Ace, and almost squeezed his life out.
"What did I do to deserve you?" she said into his shoulder.
"Just being you" Ace whispered in her ear. After a few minutes, they broke the hug. Ace brought his pumpkin over to their side of the table. "What do you say we touch these up, then set them by our room?" Ace asked. Kali wiped her tears one more time, nodding.
"I'm glad we convinced Six to let us have a conjoined dorm" Kali said. Ace nodded in agreement.
"Definitely makes life easier." He said. Kali smiled, using a small knife to make some finishing details to her pumpkin carving.
"Before I use this" Kali said, holding up the knife for Ace to see. "I'll be fine with it. Don't even think about worrying." Ace laughed, holding up his hands in surrender.
"Okay okay, you win. Again." Kali laughed along with Ace, stealing a quick kiss before finishing her carving.
"Well Eliza, I'd say this party is a success" Valkyrie stated, taking a swig of apple cider. Ash nodded.
"Just as I had hoped." she said. "Like Six said earlier today; we've all worked extraordinarily hard. We deserve a night's furlough."
"Couldn't agree more" Valkyrie nodded as Fuze and Kapkan entered the training room with them. Both carried two plated slices of pumpkin pie.
"Figured you two would want some sugar" Kapkan said, setting down the pie for the girls.
"You guys know us well" Ash stated.
"Maybe a bit too well" Valkyrie muttered, jokingly. The four shared a laugh, and sat down to enjoy their desserts.
"But really, Ash, huge success" Kapkan spoke up, loading some pumpkin pie onto his fork.
"Thanks guys, but without any of your help, this never would've been done." Ash admitted. Valkyrie chuckled.
"What are friends for?" she asked. Ash smiled, leaning into Fuze, who had finished his slice of pie. Fuze draped his arm around Ash's shoulders.
"Geez, it's only 11!" Kapkan said, putting his phone down at the table. "We still have hours of festivities left." Fuze chuckled.
"Definitely gonna enjoy it. And sleep a lot of tomorrow."
"You and me both" Ash agreed, snuggling further into Fuze. Valkyrie scooted into Kapkan, taking after Ash, and smiled.
"Everyone seems to be having fun. Even Nokk" Kapkan said, draping his arm around Valkyrie. Ash sat up.
"I heard she and Vigil hooked up" she said. Kapkan nodded.
"Vigil helped her become more outgoing, and she helped him to trust more." Ash smiled, and shared a look of happiness with Valkyrie.
"I'm glad they have each other now. They both just needed someone to be there for them" Ash admitted, huge smile plastered on her face. "Hopefully now we'll see a new side to both of them."
"We will" Fuze promised, getting a questionative look from Ash. "What? Remember Taina before she hooked up with Gus? She was closed off as hell."
"Now it's like having two Elizas" Kakpan groaned. Valkyrie chuckled at the comparison.
"I'm sorry, but no one can top Eliza's energy and happiness." she added.
"You guys know I'm right here?" Ash spoke up, sitting up a bit, but keeping Fuze's arm around her shoulders. Valkyrie shrugged.
"Wasn't meant to harm" she promised. Ash smiled, leaning back into Fuze.
"So, Eliza, can we expect next year's Halloween celebration to be up to this one's standards?" Kapkan asked. Ash chuckled.
"If you think it won't be, then you don't know me, homie" she smirked, getting a laugh from Fuze.
"Either way, this year's party was amazing" Fuze smiled. "I can't wait to see what you have planned for the winter holidays." Ash smiled.
"Probably just small festivities throughout December" she said. "What, with like 5 different holidays in one month and all"
"Sounds like something to look forward to" Kapkan admitted, turning to look at Valkyrie. "Babe, how about we see what all the fuss over the haunted house is?" Valkyrie smiled.
"So long as I don't have to comfort you the whole way through" she teased, earning a laugh from the table. The two made their leave, leaving Ash and Fuze at the table.
"You're the best, ya know that?" Fuze said, planting a kiss on Ash's cheek.
"Kinda figured" Ash joked, smiling. After a minute, she got up from the table.
"Babe?" Fuze asked, skeptically.
"Let's head to the lounge. I hear they're playing horror movies" Ash informed. Fuze shot up from the table.
"Let's go!" he said excitedly. Laughing to herself, Ash caught up to Fuze, giving him a quick kiss, and looking forward to the rest of the night with her amazing boyfriend.
