Yu-Gi-Oh ! GX : Destiny's Dawn
CHAPTER 11
"Now that our little friend's show is done, It's my turn." Juliet stated, looking at Romeo and nodded. "I have to thank my sweetheart for the save. Love you, Romeo!"
"Oh, Juliet! The pleasure is all mine!" Romeo said, proudly. "Urgh, just get on with the duel already." Alexis stated, annoyed. "Is this what it looks to be in love?... hmm." Bastion muttered to himself, observing the two.
Juliet drew a card, "Oh, and by the way, I activate one of my face down cards!" She exclaimed, revealing the second card she had set in her previous turn, "Jar of Greed! It allows me to draw one more card." With that, she took another card from her deck. Seeing the new card in her hand, a smile crept on her face. Rather, it resembled more a smirk.
Alexis narrowed her eyes, "This can't be good, is it?" She asked, sarcastically with Bastion sharing the sentiment.
"For my next move, I will fuse two of my monsters," Juliet exclaimed, playing Polymerization. The girl then revealed two cards: Effect Monsters. "The Forgiving Maiden, plus, Marie the Fallen one!" The two monsters appeared, both women. One was a nun, the other a blonde-haired demon with wings.
Romeo was certainly excited by the display, "Oh, Juliet! You always amaze me. Keep going!" He evidently was one to show support.
They swirled towards each other as a completely different entity made its appearance, An orange haired female knight with an impressive sword. Even more impressive was her attack points. "Make place for the queen! St. Joan, in attack mode!" Juliet announced, with the knight taking arms and swinging her blade a couple of times before striking a stance. (ATK/ 2800 | DEF/ 2000)
"Twenty-eight hundred attack points?" A sweat furrowed down Bastion's forehead, he started to rummage his mind, trying to find strategies to deal with this situation. He was snapped back to reality as he heard the classic sound of monsters being destroyed in battle, looked up to see that it was now their field that was bare, their defense had been laid to waste, while Romeo and Juliet now found themselves on the offense. Also, Bastion's and Alexis' lifepoints dropped due to Juliet's monster destroying Beta. (Alexis/Bastion: 6000 → 4900 LP)
Bastion cursed. "Darn it!" He exclaimed, swinging his fist around. "It seems that someone is losing their calm." Juliet snickered, "I dislike men who do that. Fortunately, Romeo is not one of them. Isn't that right, dear?" She asked with a playful tone, with her mate nodding and smiling. "Yes, my love. A man who loses his temper is worthless. Men must remain calm, level-headed. Bastion Misawa, was it? You not only fail at being a duelist- You also fail at being a man!" He pointed at him. "Why you…!" Bastion grounded his teeth together.
"Enough!" Alexis shouted, having had enough of this situation. "Bastion, don't let their word get over your head. It's unlike you to lose your patience." She told him, staring right into his eyes as she did so. Bastion felt himself unable to do anything but hear her out. "I'm sure you have plenty of formulas you wrote for this kind of dilemma. I want you to put them to use. And besides, you were the one who said we're still in the duel, right? It's a bit too early to lose hope, if you ask me."
Bastion slowly rose up and gulped. "You're right. As long as our life points are not zero- We are still in this. Thank you, I was starting to lose it."
"Aww, how cute." Romeo commented with fake admiration. "Those poor two think that their love is superior to ours. Perhaps it is best for us to show them the harsh reality, My sweet, dear Juliet."
"I agree, My handsome and strong Romeo." Juliet stated.
Alexis's sharp gaze turned to the two, it was enough to send a chill down their spine, "And I've had enough of you two blabbering on and on about your love, we get it. But in a duel, a meaningless thing like that doesn't matter. And I'll show you!" Alexis claimed with confidence and passion, as it was now her turn. She took a card from the top of the deck.
"I'll start! First, I'll use this, Pot of Greed! It allows me to draw two more cards," She explained. "Then, I'll use this, Monster Reborn! I can summon a monster from the graveyard, back to the field! And I choose my Blade Skater; Come on out!" Alexis threw her arm, as Blade Skater appeared again.
The two lovers narrowed their eyes, wondering what Alexis was planning to do. The Obelisk Blue continued her combo. "And since you already used this card before, there's no point in explaining it. Polymerization!" Alexis said, "I fuse Blade Skater, with Etoile Cyber, to form Cyber Blader!"
"Cyber Blader, I forgot about her!" Bastion gasped. "If I remember, its versatility is perhaps just what we need here!" He said as Cyber Blader descended. She resembled Blade Skater, except instead of lacking hair, she had long, beautiful blue hair with a vizor covering her eyes. (ATK/ 2100 | DEF/ 800)
Juliet and Romeo were stumped, looking at Alexis' monster before they just laughed. "What? And here I thought you were going to turn the duel around," Juliet said, wiping a tear off her eye. "Let me break it to you. Your monster- Isn't a match for my St. Joan!"
"And that's where you're wrong." Alexis calmly replied. "What?! Explain!" Romeo yelled. "Gladly. Cyber Blader has three effects," Alexis brought her hand up and raised three fingers. "Depending on the number of monsters on my opponent's field. If my opponent has two monsters, then her ability is, and you're not going to like it," Alexis cockily smiled. "Her ATK points are doubled."
With those words, the lover team's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. "D-Doubled?! You're kidding!" Both said in tandem.
"See for yourself!" Alexis answered as Cyber Blader's attack points quite literally doubled- Jumping to a very impressive 4200! Bastion crossed his arms, and like Alexis, smiled. "As expected of the queen of the academy- I could not have asked for a better partner."
Romeo abashedly smiled and raised both his hands, gesturing to stop. "T-Time out! You're not really going to attack us, right? T-That was an impressive show!" He said, causing Juliet to turn to him rather annoyed. "What are you doing?!" She asked him, baffled by his change in behavior.
Alexis shook her head, "As if! There's no place for mercy in duels. My Cyber Blade will make short work of your strongest monster with her Skate Blade Slash; GO!" She ordered. Cyber Blade raised an arm, and a leg, as she began to spin so fast a cyclone was formed. The cyclone approached St. Joan, who struggled to stand their ground.
The monster then let out a shriek, its last words before utter destruction. Followed by the bleeping sound of life points decreasing. (Juliet/Romeo: 6200 → 4800 LP)
A chuckle was heard, belonging to Bastion. "Would you look at that, this duel is full of up and down, it seems. But I believe the end will be near." He spoke up.
"Argh! Romeo! You gotta do something!" Juliet turned to him, sounding desperate. Romeo was no better himself as he too was panicked. "Calm down, Calm down! I'll figure out what to do!"
Romeo's turn arrived and he had drawn a card. "Yes…Yes! Worry not, Juliet! Our love will triumph at the end! Yes, these vile demons will pay!" He said, using a spell card. "I use this spell card, Wild Nature's release!"
Alexis turned to Bastion, "Mind explaining what this does?" She asked him, and Bastion was happy to answer. "Wild Nature's release allows the controller of the card to select one Beast-type or Beast Warrior-type monster. Then that monster gains attack points equal to its defense. Given there's only one monster, He's going to choose his Vorse Raider."
"That's right! Vorse Raider has twelve hundred defense points!" Romeo stated, "Add that to his nineteen hundred attack points and you get a monster with over three thousand points...Three thousands one hundred points to be exact!" He said as Vorse Raider roared loudly, its attack receiving a hefty boost: It was now 3100. "Oh, and since we just have one monster left, that means your Cyber Blader is back to its original twenty-one hundred attack points! My Vorse Raider will make mincemeat of it!"
"Yes, reduce that thing to dust! DUST!" Juliet repeated like some sort of mantra. It certainly looked seemed that such a thing was possible for Cyber Blader's attack reverted.
Vorse Raider ran towards Cyber Blader and swung his axe at her, causing an explosion that kicked up a smoke of dust. Bastion and Alexis' life points dropped, as a result of the battle. (Alexis/Bastion: 4900 → 3900 LP)
Both Romeo and Juliet laughed loudly. However, they were quick to shut their trap as they saw Alexis' Cyber Blader still on the field. They were stunned, to say the least.
"W-What, but how?" Romeo stammered, "My monster should have destroyed yours!"
"Have you forgotten?" Alexis asked him, "I already told you two that my Cyber Blader had three effects, depending on how many monsters you lot have. When you just have a single one..Then my Cyber Blader can't be destroyed in battle."
Bastion decided to add to this. "And I recall that your spell card had a drawback, Romeo. Namely that your monster will be destroying when your turn ends."
"R-Romeo! Look what you did!" Juliet began to speak to him in a manner unlike any, "Because you couldn't be bothered to think, we're going to be left defenseless!"
Romeo snapped and turned to her, "Well, Excuse me! How was I supposed to know?!"
Alexis and Bastion chuckled, seeing the two argue and bicker. "Well, they certainly know how to bicker like an old married couple." Alexis commented.
"Yes, that much is true. Now then, it is time this duel comes to an end." Bastion said, now being his turn. "I activate this, Dark Factory of Mass Production. With it, I can retrieve two normal monsters from my graveyard, and add them to my hand. Of course, I'm going to choose both my Magnet Warriors."
"Now what?!" Both Juliet and Romeo stopped their argument to see what Bastion was brewing.
Bastion narrowed his eyes, "It's over, you two. You put up a decent duel, and your teamwork is respectable. But as I said earlier, the duel is nearing its end. With the three magnet warriors in my hand-" Bastion showed the three. Beta, Alpha and Gamma, "When combined, they form a powerful monster with unrivaled strength!"
Alexis whistled, "Ah, so we're seeing that monster! I remember Yugi played it in some of his duels, you two should be familiar with it."
"N-No way, you mean Valkyrion?!" The two said, once again in tandem.
"Heheh." Bastion let out a chuckle, "That's right! The three combine to form VALKYRION, THE MAGNA WARRIOR!" He proudly exclaimed as the magnet warriors appeared and merged with each other. Valkyrion descended, holding its sword and flapping its metallic wings. (ATK/ 3500 | DEF/ 3850)
Bastion turned to look at Alexis, with her returning the favor. "Shall we do it together?" He asked. "Of course." She replied as they both pointed towards Romeo and Juliet who were sweating bullets. "ATTACK FOR THE WIN!" Bastion and Alexis yelled with both of their monsters attacking the duo. Valkyrion against Romeo and Cyber Blader against Juliet.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Screams were heard from Romeo and Juliet as their life point dropped to zero and fell to their knees as they lost the duel. (Juliet/Romeo: 4800 → 0 LP)
"And that's game." Alexis said. "Indeed, a most entertaining duel if I have to say so myself." Bastion shared his thought.
"Alexis, You did it! You avenged us!" Both Mindy and Jasmine were leaping from joy, they really, really savored this moment thoroughly.
"Raaargh, it's your fault we lost!" Juliet shouted at Romeo, "If you didn't use that stupid spell card, we could have still won!"
"What, how is it all my fault?!" Romeo answered in a defensive tone. "I sacrificed so much for you, and you did nothing to repay the favor!"
Juliet grit her teeth. "You know what?! We're done! I don't want anything with you anymore!"
"Hmph! Same for me!" Romeo replied. "Hold on, give me a second." Alexis stated as she walked over to the two of them. "So, just because you lost a duel, means you two are done for good? That just confirms my doubt…There was no real love between the two of you. It was fake, All along."
"What?! How dare you!" The two of them replied to Alexis. "What do you know love?!"
"Me? Personally, I don't know much about it, nor do I really care in the first place." Alexis replied, shaking her head. "But anyone would tell you the same thing. You talked so much about love in the duel it was sickening. But if you two truly loved each other- then not only you wouldn't cry and moan just after losing, you would also show it without needing to shove how much you gush over each other down our throats. Don't tell about how great the love between you two is…Just show it." Alexis said, those words cutting deep and caused the two to look at each other and ponder.
"You're right…" Romeo said, lowering his head, before slowly looking at Juliet. "I'm sorry. I got carried away, but we're supposed to be better than this."
"If something trivial such as a loss sets us apart, then our love really was fickle." Juliet sighed. "Romeo..It's not all your fault. I'm to blame, too…We lost fair and square and uhm…I'd really like to start again. This time our love will be real, and genuine." She stated, blushing and looking away.
"Gladly, Juliet, I will always be at your side." Romeo said with a smile. He turned to Bastion and Alexis. "Thanks, you two. Even if we lost, we'll be eternally grateful to you. And…next time we meet...could we have a rematch?"
Alexis nodded, smiling. "It would be our pleasure to do so," Bastion said. "Grow stronger as duelists, and we'll do the same. Next time, our duel shall be even greater."
Juliet bowed down to them, "Right! We'll be rooting for you guys. Make sure you win the tournament, okay? Let's go, Romeo!"
"Right, I'll be right behind you!" He said, the two cleared the area. "That was certainly something," Bastion spoke as he saw the reborn duo walking away until they disappeared into the distance. "That being said, Alexis, our work is far from done. We'll meet again with the rest of the group later, in the finals."
"Yes. You take care of yourself now, alright?" Alexis smiled at him, causing Bastion to blush. "Erm, right! I'll be going now…" He said as he hurried out of here.
"Sheesh, I still can't believe that Ra Yellow was your partner, Alexis." Jasmine sighed. "But he's good, really good."
Mindy put a finger above her lips, "Alexis, could it be…Your in love with him?" She asked rather innocently. "As if!" Jasmine turned to her, angrily.
"I'm not even going to entertain that line of thought." Alexis replied in an annoyed tone. "Anyways, what are you guys going to do? You're out of the tournament and the year has ended, are you going back home?"
"No! We'll be with you!" The two replied without hesitating. "I guess it doesn't hurt to have a little bit of company, then." Alexis stated, she didn't show it but she was happy to have the two at her side.
