Soon Beca was sitting on Chloe's couch and the redhead had given her an extra blanket to wrap around herself. She was rather worried now that the DJ could have caught a cold on their little expedition. "Here, drink that", she said, handing Beca a glass with some transparent, slightly bubbling liquid. The DJ frowned, "What's that? I thought you said something about coffee?" Chloe rolled her eyes, "I did but first have an aspirin. I don't want you sick tomorrow", she insisted and motioned for her friend to take the glass and drink. "Awww, that's sweet. Thanks, Chloe", Beca smiled and downed the drink.
Chloe was busy in the kitchen when Beca heard a noise, "What are you doing over there?" she asked and made to get off the sofa when Chloe appeared and said loudly over the noise, "Making that coffee I promised you, of course." The redhead walked over and collected the empty glass Beca was still holding. "Stay there and get warm", she ordered her friend, raising her index finger, "I'll be back with that coffee in a moment." When Chloe's bright red hair whipped around the corner and disappeared, Beca leaned back and sighed deeply. She felt so comfortable and relaxed and was so happy about how her friendship with Chloe was developing. And then it hit her, "We are sort of officially friends now", she thought, "We both said it." At the thought Beca felt excited and nervous at the same time. Did Chloe really see friendship the same way she did? Were they looking for the same thing? When she heard Chloe rummage around in the kitchen, Beca decided to put the big questions out of her mind for now and just enjoy the moment.
As she approached Beca with a tray of coffee and cookies, Chloe thought she saw a distant and wistful look on her friend's face. But then the DJ saw Chloe and shook her head softly, focusing on the redhead with a smile on her lips. "Hey, you feeling warmer yet?" Chloe asked as she set the tray down on the couch table. Beca drew the blanket which smelled of Chloe's perfume closely around her and snuggled into it, "Yeah, but I still wanna keep that blanket for a while longer", she said smirking. The redhead chuckled, "Don't worry. You can keep it as long as you like."
Chloe then sat down next to Beca and picked up a large mug of coffee. "Here you go, Becs", she said, proudly presenting the steaming mug to her friend. "I hope I got it right." The DJ disentangled her hands from under the blanket and accepted the mug with a smile, "Thanks, I'm sure it's perfect. It sure looks great", she said, eying the cocoa covered froth appreciatively. Chloe picked up her own mug and raised it as if to toast Beca. "Well, let's see then", she said and took a sip. Beca followed Chloe's lead and carefully tried her coffee. When the hot liquid touched her tongue, her eyes went wide and she immediately lowered the cup and swallowed. "Chloe, this is … did you put …?" the DJ stuttered, looking incredulously at her friend. The redhead's smile was so big that Beca thought her face might split at the ears as she said, "I take it you like it then?" "Are you kidding? This is awesome! Did you put caramel in this?" Beca asked. Chloe nodded and continued to smile, "Sure did." "But how did you know, Chloe?" "Well, I remembered that you ordered it a couple of weeks ago and so I thought I'd try if you still liked it", the redhead stated simply as if recalling Beca's food and drink preferences was the most normal thing to do for her. Speechless, Beca stared at Chloe for a few heartbeats and the redhead looked back at her steadily. But when she saw the DJ's eyes fill with tears, Chloe's heart dropped, "Becs, what is it? I'm sorry if I did something wrong. I didn't mean…" "Chloe, you did absolutely nothing wrong", Beca whispered and put her mug down so she wouldn't risk spilling its contents. Chloe felt a bit calmer but waited with baited breath for her friend to continue. In order to distract herself she too placed her cup on the table. "It's just that", Beca started, "that I'm so overwhelmed by how sweet you are to me. It's like it's too good to be true", the DJ finished, a single tear rolling down her cheek. Beca felt somewhat embarrassed by her overly emotional reaction to a cup of coffee but she hadn't been able to hold it in. Would this be the moment that Chloe would call her crazy?
