-Chapter 6- Combat tournament, Final day

Jade and Austin had returned to the dorm with Eada and Daisy already asleep, they both agreed that they would get some rest and talk more the next day after the tournament. Throughout the night Daisy remained awake staring at the ceiling, sleep eluding her, looking around the room at Jade sleeping soundly, Eada still with curtains drawn but even though it seemed Austin was sleeping she could hear him mutter things in his sleep, things that made her question of what happened to Austin in the past.

Eventually she fell asleep until what felt like seconds later when the alarm to wake the team blared. Austin got up straight away and straight to the floor to begin with his morning workout first with sits up then push ups before he even dared to get breakfast. She looked to Jade stretch and lay in bed still slowly waking up. Eada's curtains were still drawn like always and Daisy had not heard a peep from Eada all night. The past 2 nights Eada had been silently crying with only Daisy hearing but keeping it to herself not really sure she should confront her about it.

She lay in bed struggling to keep her eyes open until she felt Jade slightly shake her to get up. Waking up and seeing Jade smile helped to give her some energy as Jade asked if she was alright. Telling Jade she was fine made her relax as Jade then got up and headed to the bathroom challenging Austin to do 50 more push ups then he usually did. Austin smirked and said it was a piece of cake. Daisy got out of bed and drew her curtains to dress in her combat clothes knowing this was the last day of the tournament. Running her hands through her hair wandering what the day would bring.

Eada pushed her curtain aside going for the flare of her entrance to the start of the day. She proceeded to head out to the Dining Hall for breakfast, she passed Austin to which she told him to stop putting on a show for her and how pathetic he was for doing so. This made Austin snap at her saying he'd rather put on a show for a ghoul before even thinking of putting on a show for her. Eada left with a chuckle saying it was obvious he wanted her. Jade had come out after brushing her teeth to hear that and both Daisy and Jade seeing Austin have a sickening look on his face when Eada mentioned that.

Austin got changed after drawing his curtain, while Austin was changing Jade mentioned to Daisy she had some news to tell her but also made a mental note to ask if Austin was indeed attracted to Eada later in the day. Daisy couldn't wait to hear Jade's news which made her forget about her tiredness as Austin finished changing and the 3 of them chatted on the way to the Dining Hall. Well more Jade and Eada chatting however Austin did chime in here and there.

They chose to sit with Daisy trying to get her to join in on a conversation for once but all Eada did was roll her eyes or ignore them, before too long the team had to report to the arena where they were met by Professor Ozpin and Professor Oobleck announcing that today will be all 4 team members participating at once and tomorrow the results of the best fighters and the best teams will be ranked in order from the results of the last 3 days.

Discussion fell upon the crowd before being silenced by Professor Port as they then started the process of the first match. This time the fights were randomly drawn but instead each teams that got picked got a time slot as the fights will have a 10 minute limit. Victory will go to the team who has more members left at the end of the 10 minute time frame or the team that eliminates all the other team's members.

Team JADE got announced and found their time slot to be 3:20pm which gave them almost all day to discuss battle plans and study the other team. Eada left immediately to study on the team, Daisy Austin and Jade all met up to discuss any battle tactics and team moves but needed to find Eada. Trying the dorm then the Dining hall, the atrium and the library they finally found Eada in the courtyard as they all tried to discuss strategies.

Eada made them believe she was open to discuss it but told everyone that they should all research the other team and it's members first, Austin agreed that it would be a good idea reluctantly due to being Eada who come up with that but he always gave credit where credit was due. Eada then looked back down at her scroll to study but Austin then announced he had been watching 90% of fights both days and had already acquired the intel on the fighting style of each member of the team as he gave a quick and brief description.

Team TGRN (Tangerine) made up of Tiger Flaye, Gretchen Rainart, Ray Beltham and Nell Fold led by Ray Beltham. Tiger Flaye fights with a Staff which is able to shoot dust from both sides, biggest weakness is close combat as she held her own but needs work in that area. Gretchen Rainart fights with no weapon as her semblance can block out pain. So she inserts dust into her arms and she can pack quite a damage in her punches and her biggest weakness is the longer the fight, the more tired she will become and would be easier to get the upper hand.

Ray Beltham wields two blades that also work as dual wielding shotguns to shoot dust. Biggest weakness for her is long range attacks and finally Nell Fold wields a sabre but with the curved blade allows for it to shift into a crossbow, she keeps 1 loaded ready to fire and has 10 more bolts on her ammo belt around her waist as 5 are on each side but more skilled with the bow. Daisy and Jade are impressed with Austin's intel but Eada on the other hand still thinks she needs to do her own studying but with that information Jade then states who should fight who.

Telling Daisy to keep close but to face Getchen would be best as Daisy had speed and agility to dodge, land a hit and get away quickly to wear her out more. Keeping close to Jade for backup as she assigns herself to Tiger as she feels confident with Austin's training already and can't wait to try it out. Then assigning Austin to Ray as Austin could switch his weapon styles to and from long and short range combat and had the skill to defend or dodge shotgun blasts which led Eada up against Nell telling her to get close and make her fight with the sabre.

Finally for once they all agreed on that plan, the confidence rose in Jade, maybe her team would be not so dysfunctional after all, except that feeling was ripped away 5 seconds later as she mentioned to discuss team attacks and strategies in case things went wrong. Eada refused to take part of the conversation which led to an argument 3 on 1, Austin with very little patience for Eada to begin with gave up after a few minutes and just stated that she wouldn't have help from him if she needed it as he went to go watch the other fights. Daisy backed off a bit not really too confident around Eada but stuck by Jade.

Eventually Jade had to give up, Eada was being a broken record repeating herself and as the two found Austin they all agreed to help Eada if she needed it but would have to take it by circumstance. Team JADE were at the arena ready, in time for their match, Daisy had caught up on some sleep with a nap and all were ready to start. As the buzzer started the clock Team JADE started out as planned, going for their assigned opponents which actually had them take the advantage. Eada was able to defeat Nell easily by making her be in close combat near the edge of the arena which had Nell eliminated by ring out.

Fueling her ego she claimed how she was better than any filthy faunus out loud which got Austin shouting at her between attacks but the people she hurt most with those words was all the faunus in the arena, Nell Fold and her own team member Daisy. Daisy was that shocked that she just stopped fighting looking at Eada in disbelief and didn't block Gretchen's punch which sent her flying and landing outside of the arena's boundary. She got up straight away and ran the perimeter helping Nell to her feet and apologizing for Eada's mean comment.

As Daisy was on the mend with Nell in the ring was a different story, Eada had gotten herself in deep trouble as Gretchen heard what she had said and focused on Eada who was struggling against the strength of Gretchen and couldn't get a hit in at all. Eada than moved over to Jade and freaking out she grabbed Jade and pushed her into the path of Gretchen's punch depleting Jade's aura into the red zone with a direct hard hit to Jade's head thanks to Eada. Tiger and Gretchen team up together making easy work of Eada as Austin manages to eliminate Ray to her aura depleting to the red zone.

Gretchen and Tiger had cornered Eada, her aura level was almost to the red zone as she panted looking for a way to escape. Austin then ran to the group of 3, Gretchen and Tiger heard him coming and as they turned around to defend themselves Austin surprised them both by jumping over them and landing in front of Eada using his shoulder to push her out of the arena boundary saying he'd rather lose in a tournament then fight with a racist.

Turning to Gretchen and Tiger still stunned Austin placed a fist into his palm and bowed apologizing for his team mates behavior and invited them to the centre of the arena to finish this fight respectfully and stated if they didn't want to fight then he'd eliminate himself. Gretchen and Tiger looked at each other standing down and shaking Austin's hand thanking him as they agreed to keep fighting.

The 3 made their way to the centre of the arena, the clock was still ticking as the 5 minute warning showed. Gretchen, Tiger and Austin got ready and agreed when they each said they were ready then the fight would resume even though the clock was still ticking. Austin stated he was ready first as Tiger and Gretchen stated together they were both ready just after Austin as all 3 leapt into action like nothing happened. Eada had watched from the sidelines where she was knocked out and looked around to see some people staring at her with disgust she left and retreated to her dorm.

Austin went about putting his strategy in place as he went after Tiger who was still not great in close combat and being alone gave him all the room to move around and place Tiger in front of Gretchen making her pull her punches as Austin took advantage getting a few good hits in. Keeping up this tactic seeing 2 minutes on the clock left he got them towards the edge of the arena and turning his back on Gretchen and fighting Tiger getting her closer and closer to the boundary.

Gretchen was getting tired and frustrated that she couldn't land a decent hit on Austin so charging at him from behind was the best idea that entered her mind. Austin had a couple of quick glances behind him seeing Gretchen charge, timing it well he used his most powerful shot of dust aimed at the ground which sent Austin into the air leaving his weapon behind just as Gretchen was about to bulldoze him out of the arena instead making her run into Tiger as they both fell out of the arena boundary together signaling Team JADE's victory with 1 minute 13 seconds to go. Austin had landed in the arena as he picked up his weapon and helped Gretchen and Tiger up off the ground.

Congratulating them on a good fight, Austin then turned his attention to Nell and apologized once again for Eada. She stated it was ok and Daisy and Jade had both told her that they've been trying to get Eada to loosen up. Nell replies that unfortunately those type of people still exist and feels more sorry for Daisy having to be on the same team and let alone share the same dorm room with her. The teams decide to leave to get some rest as Gretchen asks Jade how her head is as Jade responds that her head is a little sore and she has a pretty mean hook but she'd be alright though. The two teams shake hands and head in different directions as Professor Ozpin approaches them asking to see Austin in his office.

Austin tells them that he'll meet back up with them later as Daisy and Jade wander around the campus enjoying the nice day, at this point Jade tells Daisy that she and Austin kissed last night and are actually going on a date on the weekend. Daisy hugged her best friend congratulating her and asking her questions about the kiss and if she was sure if that was what she wanted.

As the pair talked Jade stated she wouldn't ditch her best friend and still would have time for Daisy as she mentioned that Austin was intriguing as Daisy felt a pang of jealousy but still supporting her best friend, she had to at least tell Jade what Austin had said during his sleep. Telling Jade about not going to sleep straight away she had heard Austin say "They abandoned me" and "I'll make you proud" among other random phrases. It got Jade thinking and she told Daisy that Austin knew Eada before coming to Beacon and perhaps may have feelings for her. Daisy and Jade agreed that she needed to talk to Austin about this before their date to make sure he wanted to be with her for her.

Daisy made Jade go confront Austin about it as she slowly walked around the campus needing to be alone, the whole day hadn't gone her way and especially what happened earlier. Meanwhile Eada stayed in her dorm and Jade had met Austin leaving Professor Ozpin's office. The two got to talking as they headed to the roof of the school to talk in private as Jade was worried about Austin liking Eada and possibly just dating her to make Eada jealous. Austin laughed and said that would never happen.

Jade wasn't happy or convinced with Austin's laugh really demanding Austin to tell her the truth, she didn't like acting paranoid but she had to know that he was into her and didn't want to be used as she saw one of her best friends used and it had done a number on her mental health and Jade didn't want that. Austin then looked Jade in the eyes and said that he would never see Eada in that way especially how racist and egotistical she was and how he hated her.

Jade nodded and still not fully convinced asked Austin what if she opened up her eyes and actually improved her attitude, adding in a fact about the brain as the part of the brain that hates people is right next to the the part that likes or love someone. Austin just smiled calmly trying to reassure Jade that he would never see Eada in that way. Jade just had to ask what made him so sure that he would never change his mind.

Austin then sighed and said if you have to know to put your mind at ease, with a brief pause he looked Jade right in her eyes and told her, Eada's my sister...
