Intro
My husband was watching a music video by John Legend yesterday and the name stayed with me... Legend. This wasn't originally one of my prompts, but the word stuck... so here we are.
This is not one of my usual short stories. I say that because it isn't just Twilight and/or HP, it's actually based on a quick story I did about Hermione and the Twilight peeps I called Once Upon a Holiday. Do you need to read it before understanding this story? Nope. Because all you need to know is Hermione married Embry Call and became a healer for the reservation... oh and at the end of the story they had a three-year-old son named Gordon and Hermione was pregnant.
Right... so, that's all you need to know to understand this short.
- Day 15 -
Those with magic were known to live a long life. Hermione and her family were prime examples of this. While eight-eight was still a relatively young age for any witch, the war had taken a lot out of her. Embry had recently celebrated his seventy-seventh birthday and his still youthful appearance was always a pleasure to see. The man had decided to stop shapeshifting twenty years ago so he could age with his wife.
She moved slowly. Age was starting to catch up to her and her joints ached, but that was alright. Hermione felt that she had lived a long and charmed life. She had a wonderful husband that loved and adored her. A son that was brilliant and a grandfather in his own right. A daughter that had taken over the clinic upon gaining her certification and would also be a grandmother soon.
But none of that was important right now. Tonight was a bonfire which translated to story night. There was a new generation to be brought into the know, new people to hear and learn of legends of the Quileute tribe.
Embry stood at her side as they looked out across the beach. The scene was so familiar yet the faces of the pack, the elders and the families had changed over the years. So many had passed away, others had moved away and what remained grew anew as the need arose because the Cold Ones would always return to Forks eventually.
He got his wife settled near the bonfire, a blanket lying over her legs just in case she got chilly. Her family and friends were gathered around the fire, settling in for the story. Gordon sat beside his mother's side, Ayasha on the other. Hermione's daughter sighed and laid her head on her mother's shoulder, "It's times like this that I miss him."
Gordon looked at his sister and nodded in agreement, "Me, too."
"Yes," Hermione said wistfully, "Grandpa Billy was a great story teller."
Embry looked around the gathered audience and began the tale of their forefathers as every story teller had before him, "Generations ago the tribe settled in La Push and became fishermen and shipbuilders…"
