Chapter 11: Searching For The Second Seal

*Wirr* The harsh sound of the prop plane's rotor filled the cramped cargo cabin, as the 12 occupants rested away… or at least tried to do so.

"How long until we get there?" Lynn crossed her arms. "I'm starting to get annoyed at waiting for this!"

"Patience older sibling," Lisa shook her head. "This is a Cessna turboprop, it only goes around two-hundred and fifty kilometers an hour," She turned and glanced out the window. "I will add though, you may not have to wait too long, it looks like we're here."

"Where is here, anyways?" Lily tilted her head in confusion. "No one's told me anything!"

"Guatemala," Lori answered. "According to Lisa, that weird map thing says there's a seal somewhere here… we'll have to figure out where, but at least it's better than nothing," She motioned with her hand. "My money's on one of the temples or something."

"I'm just excited to go shopping!" Leni went, quickly putting on a sun hat and glasses. "Like, I'm totes gonna be the coolest kid on the block!"

"I'm just gonna be lookin' around for some music clubs. Doesn't matter the country, there's always somethin' goin' on!

Jordan placed a soft hand on Lincoln's palm. "Ready to keep going?"

Lincoln let out a breath. "As ready as I'll ever be," He raised his head. "I'm just worried about that Collector guy… he won't give up, especially after we ran out of there. And he still has the notebook! He might not know exactly where to go, but neither do we."

"Hey, don't worry," She went, clutching his hand. "We'll win this race. Besides, we're the only one with a key. Even if he finds the seals, it's not like he can open them, right?"

He paused, and thought it through. He couldn't… he couldn't. "But… what if he can? He might not have known about the key, but he did have some time to look over the map before we broke out…" He shook his head. "Yeah, you're right I guess."

With that, their plan began its descent, and they made their way into the country.

It took them a few hours to get settled in finally, before going on their separate ways to begin their search.

The part of the city they had landed in seemed nice, with buildings of all sizes surrounding a main square. Their hotel- complete with a single room to be shared by twelve of them- was held off to the side.

"All right, be back here tonight. If you're not, then I'll have to use the tracking chips to find you all," Lisa declared, before dropping a computer on one of the tables. "If you need me, I'll be continuing to do more research on this… treasure orb thing… also, don't forget! You have distress beacons installed. Just think distress a few times and it'll automatically send a signal for us to find you."

"Got it," Lincoln grabbed Lily. "I guess you're with us for now."

"Aww, why?" The young girl pouted.

Jordan chuckled, "We're in a foreign country, Lily. We just wanna make sure you're safe is all."

"All right…" Lily nodded, before raising her hand, allowing her big brother to grab hold. And with that, they went out into the city.

For the next few minutes they simply went along. Though they were no longer in the states, the city was oddly similar to their own. Aside from the mid-autumn heat of course.

Jordan leaned back, raising her hands on her head while she looked around. There wasn't much for them to spot though, just more random buildings of all kinds cutting through the clear skyline. "Man… do you really think we're gonna find anything around here?"

"I guess… I mean, we've visited a museum before, wanna try that again?" Lincoln looked at his partner and shrugged. "We're looking for clues after all, next said from where we had to find them."

"Yeah, I get that, but I dunno. Do you really think it'd be a good idea to go and try to explain to some random expert about a crazy treasure conspiracy?"

Lincoln pondered the question. True, they did ask about the treasure before, but back then, they had the notebook and also, they really just asked about the strange happenings of an abandoned town. How were they going to find clues about something they barely knew about?"

Lily looked around in boredom. "Is there anything around for me to do?" She looked to her side, allowing a child to come into view. "Ooo!" Before she broke Lincoln's grip on her.

"Huh?" Lincoln looked down in confusion. "What are you doing?"

"There are other kids around here! I'mma go ask them about cool stuff!" Before she turned and bolted… only for Lincoln to grab her. "No you don't!"

"Aww," She pouted. "But they look so fun!"

In reply, Lincoln pulled her along. "How about we go get some ice cream? Maybe that'll be more fun."

"Fine…" She paused. "But no pigeons please!"

He nodded. "Sure."

Jordan chuckled in reply.

Yet, Lily stopped, the same children moving in the corner of her eye. "I saw them again!"

Lincoln looked down and shook her head. "Just leave them be, you don't know if you can trust them after all."

She paused, her mind beginning to race as she looked up at her brother. Something felt… off about the kid. She couldn't say what, but she just needed to see what was up. Then, shed be on her way and everything would be fine again.

And so, she forced herself free of her brother's grip, before turning and bolting off.

In the next moment, Lincoln turned and gave chase. The last thing he would want was for his baby sister to get hurt after all! Jordan wasted no time following as well.

Lily turned and began to look around. "Hello? Anyone around here?!" Lily cheerfully asked, before turning and glancing from side to side. "Huh? I could've sworn I saw someone…" her expression fell downcast.

"Lily!" Lincoln rushed over and took Lily's hand in his own. "Don't do that! We don't know this place! What if you got lost!"

The young girl pouted. "I just wanted to help out… I'm pretty sure the kids would know something! They live here after all!"

Jordan shook her head. "Yeah, but you might not know where those kids are from or if you can even trust them!" She looked around, "In fact… Why would there be kids in a random alleyway like this anyways?"

Lincoln stepped forward, tugging Lily along. "Not sure…" he sighed. "But I guess it wouldn't hurt to check it out at least, right?"

Lily seemed to perk up at that, as another child seemed to jump out from the corner of her eye. "That way! I think I saw someone!" She tugged, motioning for him to follow.

Jordan and Lincoln looked to each other once more, before nodding and following Lily. For the next few minutes, they followed her directions, twisting and turning through the back alleys of the city, following what seemed to be Lily's imagination before they came to a small space.

"What the heck?" Jordan whispered as her gaze jumped from side to side as her partner did the same.

Lily stepped forward. "I think… this is supposed to be a play area of sorts…" She stepped forward. The room wasn't much, just an alleyway clearing with some toys thrown aside… yet, Lincoln stepped forward, taking a knee at its end.

He reached over and scooped up something small, before raising it towards the light. In the next moment, a glimmer began to fill the area before Lincoln's key began to glow. "Whoa…"

"Haha! Ambush!" A voice cried out before a young boy leaped from one of the pipes landing before the trio. He was a young lad from what they could tell, with moderately dark skin and black hair. From what they could tell, he looked to be about Lily's age.

"Hi there! I see you found my play home!" He greeted.

"Are you the boy I've been seeing?!" Lily asked, her voice filling with excitement. "Why'd you keep running?!"

He pouted. "Running? I thought we were playing hide and seek…"

Lily perked up. "You weren't afraid of me?!" She cheerfully jumped over. "That's great! I'm Lily, what's your name?!"

"I'm Miguel," He went. "It looks like you've stumbled into my home away from home! How can I help ya?"

Lincoln turned and raised the small crystal. "Err, we were just looking for some cool stuff, when Lily saw you." He looked down at the child. "Do you know where you found this?"

He rubbed his chin. "Hmm, not sure, though if I had to say, there was a temple nearby that had a bunch of these things! Though it's off limits to the public for some reason, don't know why."

Jordan rubbed her chin. "Do you think that it could be the clue we're looking for?"

"I guess so," Lincoln shrugged, before dropping the crystal. "It's something, the key began to glow so…"

Lily offered a hand. "Thanks for your help! Wanna play a game?"

"Not sure," he rubbed the back of his head. "I've gotta be going home now. But glad I could help ya out!"

Slowly, heavy steps began to fill the alleyway, as a heavy weight began to permeate the air.

Miguel stepped passed the trio, his eyes focused on them as he turned off.

Lincoln rubbed his chin, "There's something he's not telling us."

"So what do you wanna do about it?" Jordan raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

The young man chuckled.

"We're gonna do the usual, right?" Lily tilted her head.

"You know how to get us in close, right?" Lincoln nodded, while Jordan chuckled. "All right, we'll follow him, just to see if he's hiding anything."

With that, Jordan led the way, wasting no time beginning to track down the young boy.
