AN:

Hello everyone, I'm back. Thank you all for the 1000 followers, never really expected to reach a thousand with any of my stories to be honest, but here we are.

For those who don't know I am now returning back to my usual routine of two chapters per story. So I'll be doing another chapter after this one.

*IMPORTANT NOTICE*

I have come to a decision concerning my other fic The Guardian of the Swarm. Due to basically redoing Ceres in my other story and extreme case of writer's block, I have hit a brick wall concerning the fic as well as losing all interest writing it.

I wish to cancel the story to make way for another newer story, a story that I will have more enthusiasm writing instead of slogging through for months on a story I have no interests in. I apologize to those who genuinely enjoyed that story but this I feel is necessary for me and unfair for you all waiting for chapters that is going to never come out.

I will make a voting poll on the next story you all wish for me to write to replace The Guardian of the Swarm. All my story summaries are posted on my profile if you wish to see which one you want to vote for.

So without further ado, here's another chapter.

Chapter 7: For Duty and Honor

Location: Atlas Airship, Indomitable Will – Isolated Quarters

"Praise the Emperor for His sacrifice, as He endures so shall we. We who are hunters of Daemons shall strive in His name eternally. We, the Order of the Hammer, shall delve into dark shadows, We shall seek out the tainted, we shall pursue the vilest evil. It is we who stand guard, our eternal watch shall not fail, For we are the Ordo Malleus…"

Julius wiped the blessed oil-soaked cloth across his blessed blade. The sword lay across his naked lap as the gothic inscriptions shone against the dull light of the candles illuminating his cell.

His cell, much like his old one, is bare. Dark metal walls surround him on all sides. A solid block that juts from the wall left of the cell door that constitutes as his bed. A candle-lit shrine to the Emperor of Mankind takes up the wall facing directly towards the door.

Like most of his brothers, Julius has no worldly possessions other than his armor and the very sword he is currently attending too. Julius, for the very first time since coming to this world, is completely bare of his armor, a simple white loincloth covering his decency. His armor is currently in the care of the Archmagos since the start of their journey towards the port city of Argus, promising to go through the proper rites of repair and maintenance.

It had been ten solar hours since they left the Huntsman Schola. Ten hours since Julius, Polendinius, and Gainsboros made their vows to end the vile corruption that chokes this world. Vowed to put an end to Salem and the Grimm once and for all.

"Masters of all weapons are we, no defence exists against our wrath. With the Nemesis shall we fight, with an Aegis to shield us. In bloodshed shall we save Mankind, death shall be our everlasting creed. War unending shall be our fate, in battle shall we be steeled. We shall be unstinting in hatred, we shall hunger for holy war. For we are Swords of Justice…"

Julius brought the cloth across his blade once more. Times of rest are used to prepare for the next battle as it is the duty for all the God-Emperor's Angels of Death to safeguard His Imperium and to never falter in the face of the enemy. A Grey Knight's duty is upheld to an even higher standard as they face the arch-enemy itself wherever they are found. Every second of the past ten hours was used to attending to his sword and reciting the necessary prayers of faith and purity, not only onto his weapon but onto himself as well. His cell is located in an isolated part of the General's ship, away from the rest of the crew and away from unnecessary interruptions and distractions.

Polendinius prepared two more cells such as Julius's own. The Arch Mago's intentions for these other cells are as clear as their end goal. Julius does not care which Chapter these other two Astartes hail from, other than his own. All that matters is that they were brought to this world by the will of the God-Emperor and it is by His will that they shall join forces to end the daemonic witch and her Grimm corruption upon this world.

"Heavenly blessings are laid upon us, the Warp is ours to tame. Though sorceries shall be against us, no witchcraft will bring our doom. Though spell or incarnation blocks us, the Emperor shall see us victorious. No hex can overcome our determination, our resolve is strong as steel. Sigils and wards watch over us, prayers shall serve as our guide. For we are the Emperor`s Chosen…"

*Tock!* *Tock!* *Tock!*

"There is much darkness awaiting us, yet the Emperor lights our path. Falsehood surrounds us at every turn, yet no traitor shall confound us. No despicable trickery will thwart us, no damnation shall bring us low. There is no peace for us, for an eternity we will strive. Though mere mortals in His service, everlasting shall be our true duty…"

*Tock!* *Tock!* *Tock!*

"Et Imperator Invocato Diabolus Daemonica Exorcism. By His will, I shall prevail." Julius finished as he placed his sword onto the shrine before donning a grey habit the Archmagos had given to him. He then made his way towards the door to his cell before opening it and staring down at the lone soldier that dared disturb his prayer. The soldier stepped away, surprise and fear evident on his face and posture.

"Speak." Julius sternly demanded, tempering his emotions in favor of cutting straight to the point.

"A-ah! Y-Yes si- I mean Champion!" The soldier stammered out. "The ship will be arriving at Argus Base within the hour! The General asks for your presence at the bridge Champion!"

Julius searched for all the signs of deceit but found none. Only fear and intimidation bred from Julius's own presence plaguing this soldier's form. "Tell him I will meet him after I retrieve my armor." Julius ordered in a curt tone.

"Yes, Champion!" The soldier gave a quick salute before hurryingly running off down the corridor. Julius turned back into his cell and made his way over to the shrine, retrieving his sword and held his blade at his side before making his way out of his cell and towards the ship's labotorium. The wide corridor of metal grey soon turned white as Julius made his way into the more populated areas of the ship. As he encountered soldiers in his path, they quickly made way while giving Julius a hasty salute, whether it was out of duty or out of fear.

Julius ignored them and the whispered comments they made behind his back, believing they were out of his hearing range. The Grey Knight entered the hallway that leads directly to the labotorium, there he will find his armor repaired as the Archmagos promised him when he first took it.

Julius soon arrived at the labotorium, the doors automatically sliding open as he continued his way into the room. Much like the cells, the labotorium was personally customized by the Archmagos to accommodate all the necessary facilities to maintain and repair an Astarte's wargear. Already familiar with the room's layout, his eyes immediately drew to look upon the Archmagos himself typing away at a cogitator with his back towards the Grey Knight.

"I assume you received the news of our arrival." Polendinius said without taking his attention away from the cogitator. "Your armor is prepared for you. Just step up onto the platform."

Julius was already making his way to the platform at the center of the room as he placed his sword on a side table. The platform itself was elevated with six different mechadendrites of various sizes and functions surrounding the air above the platform. Julius sees his Aegis Terminator armor in its full shining glory standing just behind the platform. Not taking his eyes off his armor Julius shed his habit and loincloth, spilling both onto the ground, as he stood up onto the platform coming face to face with his armor.

From a distance, no human can notice any imperfections on his armor. But this close Julius can see every mark, every scratch, every small dent that decorated his armor. Each holding a story of battle, unsung valor, and sacrifice that only Julius knows.

"I made all the repairs I could." The Archmagos unknowingly interrupted Julius's thoughts. "But due to the limitations of this planet's resources as well as the commodity of time, there are sections and specific parts of your armor I had to leave as it is." Julius does not blame the Archmagos. Maintaining, much less forging, an armor of Julius's caliber is far beyond what one lone planet is capable of. Even with the entire Imperium, regular Terminator armor is such a rarity amongst Space Marines only a limited number is available to each Astartes Chapter and most are kept as Ancient Relics, some dating back to the days when the Emperor of Mankind still walked amongst His Imperium.

However, for the Grey Knights, nothing can be afforded when pursuing the arch enemy. The Grey Knight Chapter is given enough blessed Aegis Terminator armor to outfit nearly the entire Chapter. While many outside his Chapter may see this as a privilege, only Julius and his Brothers know that their armor represents the very reason for their existence. A constant reminder of the duty and burden they must carry upon their very forms in order to face the very dangers the rest of Humanity cannot.

Their armor is the temple that safeguards the God-Emperor's Imperium and they are the Hammer that strikes down the very daemons that dare bring ruin to His humanity. Nothing more. Nothing less.

"Through the Machine God's blessings, the Machine Spirit of your armor is cooperative thus far and your armor is still 81.24% at peak efficiency. I have made the necessary rituals of sanctification and rites of maintenance to the Machine Spirit. It is eager to do battle once more." Polendinius explained as mechadendrites snaked their way out of his coat sleeves and started typing away at the cogitator.

Julius raised his arms to the side as the autonomous arms surrounding him whirred to life and the platform below his feet spun so that he was now facing the Archmagos. Then a few more seconds the mechadendrites started the process of placing the pieces of his armor onto his body.

The first is his torso, the bastion of his temple. Second is his grieves, the towers that hold his temple against the darkness. Then his gauntlets, the delivers of the Emperor's wrath as well as the bells that drive away the Faithless, the Daemon, and the Heretic.

Piece by piece, socket by socket, section by section his armor was placed onto him, the familiar weight Julius is accustomed to slowly increasing with every piece. Polendinius's mechadendrites are typing away at the cogitator, his eyes closed and arms spread out from his sides as binary white noise poured forth from his still open mouth.

The Cant Mechanicus. The sanctified language of the Adeptus Mechanicus. It is a blend of both human and machine language into a binary cant that only those priesthood of the Mechanicus can truly speak. Julius does not understand the stream of binary noise the Archmagos is no doubt chanting, such thing is left with his Botherhood's Techmarine, Brother Dipolus, to understand.

As the weight of his pauldrons secured firmly upon his shoulders, a single mechandendrite lowered itself from above with his helm in its grasp. When the helm lowered upon his still head, darkness overtook Julius's sight for a mere moment before light flooded Julius's vision. Julius felt his armor hum with power and sang through the neural connection as his helm's functions fully activated. His auto-senses pre-loaded, his auspex-links came online, comm-augers whirring to life, Vox Grills readied on his subconscious command.

Julius stood, donned fully in his holy armor as his glyphs and inscriptions momentarily glowed with a hum of pure white light, letting his power course through his armor before willing it away.

He stepped off the platform, armored clad feet slamming onto the metal ground before retrieving his sword from the table and mag-locking it to his side. He now stands complete, ready to carry out the Emperor's will once again. "Now there is no time to waste. Gainsboros is waiting for our arrival at the bridge. It would be poor of us to keep the General waiting for longer than necessary." Polendinius said as his mechandendrites slithered back into his sleeves. "Let us make our way to the bridge Julius."

Julius frowned at Polendinius's blatant disregard of titles, but this was expected from an Archmagos. "Very well. Lead the way."

Julius followed Polendinius out of the room and into the halls, the loud footfalls of his grieves echoed along the halls. Soldiers and other menials of the ship's crew came to and fro, each quickly making way for both Julius and Polendinius with a quick salute as they tried to squeeze by Julius. Though the halls and corridors of this ship are large enough to accommodate his armored form, it was just that, just enough.

The Archmagos himself simply smiled and greeted each soldier and menial that they encounter with a friendly demeanor benefitting of the famous Dr. Polendina of Atlas. However, Julius knew this was but a mask of deceit the Archmagos puts on when in the presence of those outside their inner circle.

The ship became a hive of activity in the short time it took them to reach the bridge. Two of the General's own Shock Troopers stood guard just outside the bridge's doors, both gave a silent salute as Julius and Polendinius approached. "The General is just inside." The Trooper on the left stated as both Polendinius and Julius passed the troopers and entered the bridge unimpeded.

As the doors slid open, Julius's eyes immediately took in the entire bridge as his scanners highlighted all friendly targets. Holo-picts and cogitator consoles dominated the room, those dozen within the bridge are typing away on their designated consoles and relaying orders, statistics, and other key information. Encompassing the room is glasscrete windows that show a near 180-degree view of the ship's prow as well as the dawning sky of the outside world.

And standing right in front of the most forward window with his hands clasped behind his back is General Gainsboros himself. The man staring out of the window and at the growing landmass in the distance.

As both Julius and Polendinius approached, the General turned to fully face them. "Champion, Dr. Polendina." Gainsboros greeted with a nod. "I assume you both have been informed of our arrival?"

"Why yes General!" The Archmagos smiled. "Thank you so much for notifying us. It has been some time since I have visited Argus." The Archmagos then stood next to the General, looking out the same window at the very same landmass. "Such a beautiful city Argus is. Julius, come forward and take a look." Said Polendinius, gesturing for Julius to stand beside him.

The Grey Knight silently made his way beside the Archmagos and looked at the very city they will be using as their base of command for their mission within the continent. To the human eye the coastal city of Argus is but a growing speck amongst the vast landscape, after all, they were still 47 kilometers away according to his range finders. But for Julius, he can see the city in detail at such distances.

The entire city sits between two mountainous land formations with a large defensible wall nearly a kilometer wide, stretching between the two mountains. The city's very rear face against the open sea, the entirety of the city stands mere meters above sea level as Julius's enhanced eyes and scanners can see the calm ocean waves crash against the concrete barrier.

The entire city is built on a downward slant leaning towards the ocean. Three major roads parallel to one another divided the entire city into four equal sections. Julius drew his attention right and can see what appears to be a Vox-communication tower on top of the right mountain peaking amongst the trees. He then drew his attention downwards to a military base built into the side of a large rock island away from the city and into the ocean. A single bridge connecting this base to the rest of the coastal city as well as branching out to an aerial landing platform filled with dozens of military aircraft.

It was clear whoever built this city built it with the prime intention for defense. The wall was an obvious obstacle against landborne attackers while the slant facing the ocean was made to face off against any attacks from the seaborne invaders. The slant also is an obstacle in of itself, any attackers coming from the top would be open to weapons fire and aerial barrages, while the opposite is an uphill battle, disadvantageous for any attackers coming from up the bottom.

The Vox-communication tower was situated away from the city at an elevated position away from the city itself. From the looks of the landing platforms and from what Julius knows of the Atlesian Military, atmospheric air superiority is a prime directive of the Atlas Military, such combat doctrine allows them to quickly defend the Vox-tower if it's ever under attack.

However, the city defences are by no means perfect or unassailable. The walls can easily be bypassed by airborne enemies and aircraft. The mountainous land formations that flank the city may as well be attack platforms for the enemy as they are not hostile enough to be suitable natural barriers nor are they defended by the city's own man-made defenses. Any invaders with enough numbers can easily assail these mountains and drop directly down onto the city itself if given the chance to do so.

But the biggest sin Julius couldn't help but frown upon is the lack of any static defenses within the city. From what he could see there are no anti-air turrets to shoot down any airborne enemies that invade from the sky. No artillery emplacements to bombard land borne invaders that will assail the city walls. None of these vital pieces of static defenses are seen anywhere in the city, the island base, and most importantly on the walls. And other then the dozen or so military aircraft, Julius does not see any other vehicles of war. How did this city remain standing today when the hated enemy prowl just outside its very walls? Are the human citizens and soldiers' content of leaving their city so exposed?

Overall, the city is far from the perfect. "This city will have to do."

"I see..." The General nodded solemnly before turning his gaze back out the same window. "The reason why I called for you two is to inform you both that Argus Base is notified of our arrival. I will be meeting with the commanding officer in charge of the base in order to officially turn overall command of the base to me." Gainsboros then turned his gaze to meet the Archmago's own. "Dr. Polendina your presence is necessary to drive in the importance of our 'mission' here in Anima, as well as to give you the freedom to contact the Mistral Council directly from the city's relay tower." The General explained. Humanity on this world depended on these Vox towers for worldwide communications but are known for unreliable connection the further you are away from any of the four major kingdoms. Julius believes

In order to keep their holy mission hidden from those outside their circle, the Archmagos and the General came up with a cover mission to visit each of the Kingdom's CCT in order to conduct a system update and repairs done by the Archmagos himself as well as gives reason for a large military escort on Polendinius's behalf due to his known reputation. Coincidentally each of the CCT are within close proximity of each of the Huntsmen Scholas, this will allow them to gather both information of each of the Relics whereabouts as well as an opportunity to retrieve the Relics hidden somewhere within each of these scholas.

The retrieval of the Relics will fall upon Julius, as well as facing any threat the enemy will send.

Polendinius simply nodded, almost resignedly. "Very well. I might as well introduce myself to the officer of Argus Base as well." Gainsboros nodded at this before looking up to Julius. "As for you Champion. I leave the choice to you. Overall your presence in the meeting is unnecessary. Of course, if you wish so I will-"

Julius frowned. "The Commanding Officer of this base, what is their name?" Julius asked, interrupting the General much to the man's short surprise. "Her name is Caroline Cordovin. An Atlas Special Operative who was given command over Argus Base, it's assets, as well as overseeing the city's defenses."

"What is your opinion of her?" Julius received a frown from the General. "She is loyal to Atlas. However, her fervor often clouds her judgment and interferes with her ability to lead in active combat. But in the end, she is loyal and most importantly will not question my authority." General Gainsboros explained in a stoic tone.

Julius simply turned and made his way towards the exit. "Then I will not be joining. Send the schematics of the entire city and it's defenses to me once your business is done." Julius said, exiting the bridge and making his way towards the ship's training chamber.

Julius must remain vigilant. The General and the Archmagos can handle as the public faces for their mission but Julius must remain in reserve. He is the hammer of the Emperor, a sword that brings judgment upon those who stray from His light. The time will come for him to take to the field of battle once more and face the enemy that seeks humanity's downfall upon this world.

When that time comes, Julius will drive his blade into the very heart of the corruption that chokes this world and slay all those who stand in his way.

For he is a Grey knight. His duty demands nothing less.

Location: Argus, Argus Military Base

Ford Gainsboros stood within the interior of the Atlesian Air Troop Transport. A specialized military transport he had commissioned in the past to ferry large number of his soldiers from his ships to the very heart of any battlefield. The transport was large enough to carry two full squads and had enough armor and weaponry to survive hostile air-space.

Its design was modeled after the Valkyrie of the Imperium but with a much larger cargo hold. However, such transport is expensive to build concerning its size. Fortunately, since the Battle of Beacon the Atlas Council as well as wealthy sponsors decided to fully fund his campaigns and his armies. Before he had to secretly rely on Polendinius for much-needed equipment and access.

Speaking of the Magos, Polendinius stood just behind him with a data slate in hand as the AATT made its descent. Flanking Gainsboros is his escort detail, a single squad of ten Storm Troopers as well as their squad sergeant. Lieutenant Grau was still back on the Dauntless training the newest squad of Storm Troopers, recent graduates from the Atlas Academy as well as those from his own recruitment centers.

Gainsboros refocused his thoughts as he felt the AATT came to an abrupt landing. The entire transport shook as it settled onto the ground a few of the troopers in front of him had to reaffirm their footing. Gainsboros himself had survived far worst landings in his previous life as Lord Commissar of the Cadian 88th, a landing this soft does not faze him in the slightest.

Soon the back ramp dropped as light flooded into the dark interior of the transport. The Troopers were the first to exit the transport, marching out in organized lines of five in a show of discipline and duty. Gainsboros followed closely behind, back straight, eyes focused, and expression schooled into stern stoicism of authority.

His boots thumped heavily against the metal ramp. As he made his way down the ramp, he then saw what was arrayed in front of him. It looked to be the entire base personnel, every uniformed soldier and officer organized and standing at attention in front of him in the very center of the base. From the uniforms alone Gainsboros knew he was looking at the 9th Battalion, one of the many air cavalry regiments focused mainly on recruiting and training pilots for the Atlas Military.

At the very forefront of this array is a small, stunted woman with grey hair and a white uniform coat flanked by two tall broad-shouldered guards, both looking the exact carbon copy of the other down to their very height.

It appears Cordovin has organized her personnel to greet him. By the proud smile stretched across her face, she must be both eager to meet him and proud of the fact that he, a General of Atlas, is here.

As Gainsboros made halfway towards the Specialist in question, she finally spoke. "ATTEN-SHUN! Salute your General!"

"GENERAL GAINSBOROS SIR!" The two twin guards announced as everyone, including Cordovin, saluted as one cohesive unit.

Gainsboros took all this in stride, stopping just a mere meter from the Specialist before drawing his gaze over the soldiers and officers standing before him. "At ease!" The soldiers in front of him dropped their salutes and stood at parades rest. Gainsboros then looked directly down at the Specialist in charge. "Special Operative Cordovin. I thank you for the greeting." Gainsboros said out of polite courtesy.

He could see the short Specialist glow at the compliment. "I am HONORED General Gainsboros! Nothing less for THE General of all of Atlas! I welcome you to Argus Base! The FINEST Atlas Military base outside our GLORIOUS kingdom!" Cordovin proudly announced for all to hear. She then swept her hand out as if presenting the base to him. "Whatever you may need! Know that I! Caroline Cordovin! Will move ALL of Argus Base to meet your needs! For the glory of Atlas!"

"FOR THE GLORY OF ATLAS!" Her twin guards repeated with equal fervor. Gainsboros simply stared at the proud looking Specialist in front of him. Such fervor he is already used to, reminds him much like himself during his early days as a Commissar Cadet.

However, a century of war and battle tempered his own fervor and strengthened his resolve and ability to lead his men instead. He learned many times over that fervor has a place in both the battlefield and outside of it, and that fervor and fanaticism are two sides of the same sword and both can have devastating consequences if tempered incorrectly.

He simply nodded. "Very well. Special Operative Cordovin. I will be taking over all command of this base, military personnel, and its assets for the duration of my mission here in Anima. Do I make myself clear?" Gainsboros ordered in a commanding tone. The Specialist eye's widened before immediately nodding. "Yes General! The base and every man and woman under my command will be HONORED to serve underneath you! All I ask is to personally serve at your very side as one of your commanding officers." Cordovin requested.

Gainsboros simply held his expression at the blatant request, however, he saw no dangers of it. "Very well. If you are to be part of my command, then I will inform you of our mission here in Anima." Gainboros paused before looking behind him. Of course, the Archmagos is still in the transport, biding his time no doubt. "I am escorting Dr. Pietro Polendina to Mistral to repair and update the Mistral CCT. We will be using Argus Base as our center of command for the duration of our stay here in Anima."

Cordovin eyes widened at this. "T-THE Pietro Polendina is here! Where might he be?" Cordovin asked, her voice betraying her surprise.

"I'm here! I'm here! I do apologize! Needed to sort out a few things!"

Gainsboros turned to see the Archmagos running down the ramp, data slate in hand. Polendinius then made a show of taking exhausted breaths before stopping just to Gainsboros' left. When the Archmagos in disguise met Cordovin's eyes the woman seemed to be entranced by the supposed Dr. Polendina. "It's so good to meet you… Specialist Cordovin was it? Thank you so much for accommodating me on my way to Mistral." Polendinius said with a kind smile before reaching out a hand to the smaller woman.

The Specialist immediately grasped the Archmago's hand with two of her own. "The pleasure is all mine! Anything for THE Father of Technology! If there is ANYTHING I can do to make your stay here comfortable, just simply ask!" Cordovin offered with a beaming smile.

Polendinius returned the smile, one that Gainsboros knew after years working with the Magos was part of his deceitful act as Dr. Polendina. "I thank you for the kind offer. Truly I am. But I must really be contacting the Mistral Council as soon as I can. Reception out in the middle of the ocean is not the best for such important meetings." Polendinius explained as he drew his hand back.

Cordovin for her part simply nodded. "Of course! My two best guards will escort you personally to my office! They will show you to my personal terminal and you can get in direct contact with the Mistral Council. Guards!" Cordovin shouted as both her guards in dramatic military fashion stepped forward.

"Please!-"

"-Come with us!-"

"-We will be honored to escort you, sir!" Both guards exclaimed going so far as to finish each other sentences.

The Archmagos laughed. "Why thank you young men. Please… lead the way." Polendinius then turned to look at Gainsboros. "General I will meet with you after my meeting." Gainsboros simply nodded in reply, watching as the Archmagos followed the twin guards towards the command center. Gainsboros could not help but stare at the way Cordovin's 'best' guards are… marching.

No soldier with any amount of respect for themselves would act eccentrically like those two are. Makes Gainsboros wonder if there are any others like those two amongst this bases' personnel and if he needs to stamp out such behaviors.

Gainsboros decided such matters are ultimately unimportant. Right now he has a base to command. "Special Operative Cordovin!"

"Yes General Gainsboros!" the smaller woman replied.

"Gather all your commanding officers at the command bridge at ten hundred hours. I will be reviewing the current state of this base, it's personnel, and the city's defences. I will also need a stock report from your Quarter Master as well as a contact line with the mayor of this city by the time of the meeting. Get it done." Gainsboros then turned to the array of soldiers, all straightening under his gaze. "The rest of you! Return to your posts!"

"YES GENERAL!" The soldiers in front of him replied before dispersing around the base.

Gainsboros then turned back towards the AATT. "I shall be returning to my ship. I leave you to carry out my orders."

Said Specialist straightened her posture and adopted a proud expression. "Yes, General Gainsboros! I will see to it at once! For the glory of Atlas!"

Gainsboros frowned, unseen by the Specialist. "Yes… for the glory of Atlas…"

He then walked briskly up the ramp and into the interior of his transport, his Troopers filing in after him. Once the ramp closed and the engine of the AATT roared to life, Gainsboros then spoke. "Sergeant Fox."

"Yes sir?" The first Storm Trooper answered a noticeable red band painted on his helmet to denote his rank. Gainsboros continued. "When we return to the Indomitable inform the Lieutenant to gather all Company Captains on the ship to my office."

"Yes sir." The Sergeant obediently replied before falling back into silence. Gainsboros then turned away from his Troopers. Though his life in the Imperium is over, Gainsboros cannot help but reminisce his previous life and his service to the Imperium and to the Emperor. Even after death, he remains loyal to the God-Emperor and that loyalty only strengthened knowing his role in this world.

His earliest life in this world was filled with strife and doubts. Why had he lived? Why was he brought back?

It was only after meeting Polendinius did he knew for sure that the Emperor has chosen him for this holiest crusade against this world's daemonic taint. To support his very own Angels of Death in cleansing the daemonic corruption in this world.

The journey to where he is now was testing. The humanity of this world is not the same humanity that is loyal to the God-Emperor of Mankind. He faced against those who wished to see him fail, faced against opposition at every turn, faced the threat of death by the enemy, and by his supposed allies.

But his faith in the Emperor never wavered. Not in the face of complete annihilation, not in the face of insurmountable odds, and not even in death did he ever lose faith.

Now his faith was finally rewarded. One of the Emperor's own Angel of Death now stands with them, and soon enough two more will join them. General Ford Gainsboros will do everything in his power to see the complete success of their mission and to see Humanity's dominance over this planet.

In the Emperor's name, he shall see it done. Even if he must die a second time to see this mission through.

Location: Beacon Academy, Ozpin's Office

Pyrrha stood in front of Ozpin's glass desk, glaring daggers into his very eyes, eyes that were not only focused solely on her.

Ozpin's eyes roamed over all of them, both Team RWBY and JNPR standing right in front of his desk. Ozpin called both teams into his office an hour ago and greeting them was himself, Glynda, James, and finally Qrow.

Of course, they were worried and asked why they have been called to his office after seeing just who Ozpin has with him. Ozpin, remembering the condition that both Glynda and Qrow set yesterday, told both teams about Salem, the Relics, and his identity.

He just finished a mere minute ago. Simply staying silent and giving time for both teams to digest what he just revealed unto them.

"So let me get this straight…" Yang, the first to speak, breaking the tense silence that predated the room. "You're a centuries-old immortal wizard that has been cursed by the Brother Gods to reincarnate into a different body every time you die in order to defeat the Grimm's leader…"

"Salem."

"Thanks, Blake. Salem, who's this evil woman hellbent on the destruction of humanity and is basically the mortal enemy you have been fighting for only gods know how long, and in order to fight back you formed a secret group with the teachers, the General of Atlas, and my drunk Uncle of an alcoholic against Salem. Am I missing anything?" Yang asked, deceptively calm about all this.

"You forgot to mention about the Relics hidden in each of the Huntsmen Academies." Mr. Lie Ren said. His own expression was schooled into a serious look from his previously shocked one.

"Thanks for reminding me, Ren. And the Relics, each basically super magical artifacts, are each hidden in the four academies and can only be accessed by a person called a Maiden and are the reason why Salem and her minions attacked Beacon in the first place." Yang finished.

Ozpin simply nodded. "Yes. A simplistic version, but yes. All of which I assure you is true."

*BANG!* *CRACK!*

Yang slammed both fists down onto his desk, cracking the glass and nearly shattering it outright. Ozpin quickly grabbed his mug before it tipped off the table. His gaze never leaving the red furious eyes of his student.

"SO YOU ALL KNEW ABOUT THIS AND YET DID NOTHING TO STOP CINDER FROM ATTACKING BEACON! FROM ATTACKING VALE!" Yang screamed out in anger, sweeping her metallic hand across his shattered desk. "YOU KNEW SALEM AND HER MINIONS WERE COMING FOR BEACON AND DID NOTHING TO STOP WHAT HAPPENED!" Yang roared out in anger, jabbing an accusatory finger right at Ozpin's face.

"Yang…" Qrow from Ozpin's left slowly stepped forward with a placating look, earning him a red-eyed glare from his own niece. "You're angry. I get it. But before you jump to any conclusions, Ozpin is not fully to blame here." Qrow then swiped his hand to James and Glynda. "We all did our best with what we knew at the time and in order to protect the people of Vale. Ozpin didn't want to cause unneeded panic amongst the kingdom by acting brazenly. If we did It would have forced the hands of Salem or Cinder at the time into hiding. Or worse, doing something drastic." Qrow explained, his perpetually rough voice noticeably softer.

Yang lifted her hands from Ozpin's desk, her eyes still red and hands still clenched in anger. "Yeah, a lot of good that did, huh." Yang spat sarcastically. "Vale was attacked. Beacon nearly destroyed. Innocent people are dead. For god's sake Uncle Qrow! I LOST MY DAMN ARM!" Yang yelled, raising and shaking her mechanical arm to drive in her point.

Yang then points an accusing finger at Ozpin again. "How can you expect us to remain calm after hearing all that! Why tell us this now!" Yang furiously demanded. No one from her team or from JNPR stepped forward to stop Yang. By the expressions on everyone's faces, Ozpin can tell that all her friends are all thinking on the same line as Yang.

However, the one Ozpin is focusing on is Pyrrha herself. She has been told only half of the information that he shared now due to trying to ease the young woman about the truth.

Before they gave her the luxury of time. But now that very same luxury can no longer be afforded.

"Students." Glynda spoke with a serious expression laced with remorse. "The reason we are telling you all this now is… is because we need your help." Glynda explained with a careful tact only she can achieve.

Yang frowned, not at Goodwitch, but directly at Ozpin. "Help with what exactly?" Yang asked with a suspicious but simmering tone that Ozpin cannot fault her for. All pretense of goodwill she had for him was no doubt gone.

He then spoke. "As all of you already know, Dr. Polendina arrived here yesterday to meet with me." This earned Ozpin some nods amongst the students.

Ozpin then laid out his hands on his cracked desk. "Whatever reasons you may think he was here for are false. The true reason for the Doctor's sudden visit was to find and recruit a personal agent from amongst our staff against Salem." He explained. This got a reaction from the students.

"W-Wait! Dr. Polendina knows about Salem as well!? Just how many people have you actually told Headmaster?" Weiss demanded.

Ozpin frowned at the ex-heiress. "As I have explained previously. The knowledge of Salem, the Relics, and the Maidens is something I only tell those who I come to trust completely and without question. Most of whom are standing within this very room." He then leaned forward, steepling his fingers with a stern frown. "Pietro Polendina is not one of those few."

Ozpin noticed the frowns on the student's faces. A mix between worry, concern, confusion, and notably suspicion. "Are you telling us that the Doctor knew all along? How did he know if this… SECRET… is so important that only those in this very room know?" Nora asked, stepping forward with a worried expression.

Ozpin very briefly wanted to pin the blame on the General standing to his left. Said man remains strictly quiet, no doubt stoned face to not give away the real reason for Pietro knowing about Salem's existence.

Ozpin decided it's not worth it, in the end, the leak of information cannot be fully blamed on James. After all the so-called 'Father of Technology' proven himself to be someone entirely different, extremely dangerous, and resourceful in ways that not even he himself is capable of.

Polendina is the danger they should be focusing on. Shifting blame will only cause unnecessary delays and division. "It is true that Polendina had knowledge of Salem prior to arriving at Beacon yesterday. However, the source of how he knew is still unknown to us."

All the students frowned at his lie. However, Ozpin continued before they could voice their objections. "What does matter is that Polendina has convinced one of our staff into resigning from Beacon Academy and join him against Salem for reasons I do not truly know." Ozpin then brought his hands together, his expression marring into a stern frown. "But what I do know is that Polendina is not on our side nor is he fighting on the best interests of Humanity and the Kingdoms. The man you all know as Dr. Polendina is not the man he truly is."

Out of all of them, Weiss and even Ruby looked like they wanted to argue but visibly held herself back by Ozpin's pointed stare. The Headmaster then brought his clasped hands to his chin as Glynda took this time to speak. "He's dangerous, and as we are speaking Pietro has already taken the first steps against Salem." Glynda said in a serious tone.

This time it was Ruby Rose who stepped forward with a confused frown. "Wait! I understand that Dr. Polendina is an important person in Atlas, but it sounds like you are treating him like an enemy? If Salem is so dangerous as you said, why can't we work together with him? We're fighting a common enemy."

Ozpin let out a silent sigh. He does not blame the young leader for wanting to pursue a peaceful alliance to fight a common foe. Ozpin would whole hearteningly agree if not for the man in question. "I have tried to extend an alliance with the Doctor, Miss Rose. However… he rejected it."

Ruby's eyes widened as if such an outcome was unheard of. "Why? Why would Dr. Polendina reject your help?"

Ozpin's frown only creased further. "Because he believes that by aligning with me we will all fail against Salem." He could see the shocked confusion on Ruby's face as well as amongst the rest of the students. The only ones who weren't are Pyrrha, Blake, Ren, and Yang, Blake's a perpetual frown, Ren with a thoughtful expression, and Pyrrha and Yang both glaring at Ozpin with accusatory eyes.

Ozpin closed his eyes. "He blames me for the failure to defend Beacon, as well as the destruction of his most prized creation." Ozpin saw the hurt in Ruby's eyes as she whispered the name of the very girl that was torn apart that very night. Ozpin also saw the look of remorse flash across Pyrrha's face as well. "Thus Polendina said he will be taking matters into his own hands against Salem. That he will no longer be standing idly by as I have done." Ozpin explained in a serious tone laced with the direness of their situation.

Nora's eyes widened. "He's planning to take the fight to Salem?" Ozpin shook his head. "No. He's planning to go to war with Salem."

Silence descended on the group at the notion of war. Ruby was the first to recover. Yang was the first to speak. "Why are we still talking about this like he's the enemy!? He's taking the fight to Salem! I say we let him!" Yang said. However, Ren shook his head. "If anything Ozpin told us is to be believed. Dr. Polendina is facing off against a powerful being who rules over all of the Grimm. If he fights her and fails, what's stopping Salem from deciding to wipe out the rest of the kingdoms?" Ren, the calm voice of reason, explained.

"Dr. Polendina will be dragging all the kingdoms in a war they didn't ask for." Blake, another voice of reason, added.

Yang, for the first time, looked regretful. "A-Alright then." Yang's expression turned sour as she directed her gaze at Ozpin. "Then why are you all still here!? Why aren't you doing anything to stop him!? Why didn't you stop him yesterday when you had the chance!?" Yang demanded.

Before Ozpin could answer, Glynda stepped forward, unbuttoning her blouse.

Immediately both teams went wide-eyed and blushing, Miss Valkyrie slammed her hands onto Mr. Ren's face covering his eyes with a surprised squawk. Yang immediately backed away from Ozpin's desk. "P-P-Professor Goodwitch! What are you-" Glynda lowered the blouse to show just her naked left shoulder and collar-bone. What both teams saw shocked them into horrified silence. "Miss Goodwitch… is that…"

"Yes. It's an electrical burn scar. Given to me yesterday by Dr. Polendina." Glynda explained, revealing the red marred skin of her scar. No one said anything else as she then lifts her blouse and started to button up. "The Doctor made it very clear yesterday that our interference will be met with lethal force. I believe this is sufficient enough evidence that Doctor is not the man you all think he is."

There was silence. Ozpin stared at the students in front of him. He and those beside him are staring down both teams. Showing just how serious and dire the situation is. Both teams looked to one another, concerned looks were exchanged with worried expressions.

The silence was broken as Pyrrha looked directly into Ozpin's eyes. "You said you needed our help? Why us?" Pyrrha demanded with a serious expression.

Ozpin took a deep breath. He could not fault the Champion's suspicions. Afterall she out of all her friends knew what Ozpin wanted and what it may entail for them to do. "Because the man Polendina took from us was none other than Julius Arch." The Headmaster revealed.

Ruby's eyes widened as did the others. "Is that what you tried to tell us before the Doctor came? That… Jaune was…"

All Ruby received was a solemn nod from him, earning a mortifying look from the young girl.

"Why…?"

Ozpin turned his gaze to meet Pyrrha's own. The young woman now openly glared at Ozpin. One word. All it took was one word for Ozpin to completely understand what the young woman was thinking. The same one-worded question that haunts him with every lifetime with different people.

Ozpin closed his eyes. "I do not know exactly how Polendina managed to convince a man such as Julius." Ozpin explained as his expression turned solemn. "But one thing was for certain. Polendina was determined to have Julius under his control. Going so far as to hack our academy's database and force the transfer." Ozpin explained. He continued before any of the students could speak. "With Julius now under his employ, he left the academy grounds yesterday with a sizable escort fleet in the command of one of Atlas's own Generals."

Ozpin could see the surprise and confusion amongst both teams. "Isn't General Ironwood the general of Atlas? I thought Atlas only has one general?" Ruby asked in a confused manner, looking directly at the James for the answers.

"That is a common misconception." James immediately answered as he stepped forward. "I am not the only General of Atlas. I am but one of four." James then placed his scroll on Ozpin's desk as a bright holo-screen projected from the device to show the face of a hardened, stone-faced man wearing a black officer's peak hat. Ozpin can see recognition in the eyes of both teams at the man on the screen.

"The man you see on the screen before you is General Ford Gainsboros. A decorated officer of the Atlas Military and has personal command over the 13th Battalion." James paused to let the information sink in.

"I've seen this guy on the news. Weiss have you heard about this guy?" Yang asked the ex-heiress. "Of course Yang! Everyone in Atlas knows about him. He has been on the rise of popularity in the past year since the Battle of Beacon. Atlas is calling him a hero for his years of faithful and loyal service to the Kingdom, basically advertising him to the other Kingdoms as the pinnacle of Atlas's might. My father sponsors them with a good portion of Dust and equipment. The exact reason why I'm sure General Ironwood will soon tell us." With that last remark, Weiss drew all their attention back at James.

The General himself nodded. "Miss Schnee has the gist of what went on with Atlas after the Battle of Beacon. As for his past, before the Battle of Beacon General Gainsboros lead the most underfunded battalion in the Atlas Military, mainly due to the fault of his predecessor blatant misuse of military equipment." James said in a distasteful tone. "He had only a single Airship and around 400 soldiers under his command if you could even call them that at the time. Most were convicts and criminals recruited directly from the military's detention centers."

Ozpin noticed how silent both teams were, aptly listening to James's every word as he continued. "The General would then be given missions that none of the other Generals, including myself, would dare take due to the high risk and unavoidable dangers of these missions. Cleaning out mines of subterranean Grimm. Reclaiming irreplaceable equipment lost deep in Grimm territories. Clearing out old and new mining hotspots miles away from the nearest military outpost with little hope for reinforcements and supplies. Defending doomed resource facilities in the middle of a Grimm attack. And others just as dangerous." James listed off. To the normal civilian such feats sounded something like the average missions that Huntsmen and Huntresses would undertake. However, a civilian does not understand the steep dangers and risks of taking these sorts of missions. Observing their reactions, both teams RWBY and JNPR understood the very dangers of these missions. Oobleck, Glynda, and even Port did well to teach about such missions.

"General Gainsboros would take on these missions with nearly not enough resources and men under his command and somehow complete these missions. Normally I would commend my fellow General for his victories, if not for one thing." James then tapped his Scroll, the face of Gainsboros shifted to show a large bar graph with four names, including James'. "These are the confirmed fatality rates of soldiers and combat personnel underneath each of the Generals of Atlas during our entire years of service."

Ozpin saw the graph from behind. Two of the bars from the other two Generals reached the 200-300 mark between both Generals. Low in terms of military fatality rates concerning their service years. Besides the two was James's own rates, reaching to the high 600 mark, no doubt the Battle of Beacon caused the most fatalities for James.

However, far above James' own is General Gainsboros. His bar marked around the 1,400 mark. Doubling James's own numbers and more.

The information sunk in for both teams as all their eyes were focused solely on the largest bar on the graph. "O-one thousand four hundred soldiers! Doesn't General Gainsboros have Atlesian Knights!? Why does he have such a high death count!?" Weiss exclaimed in clear shock.

James shook his head. "As I explained, General Gainsboros used to lead the most underfunded battalion in the Atlas Military. He was never provided any Atlesian Knights due to his predecessor's constant misuse of them. So he was instead provided with something nearly as expendable in the eyes of the Atlas Council." James explained with a frown. His tone alone tells greatly of his displeasure of the topic.

"Criminals and convicts…" Blake said with a distasteful tone, no doubt towards Atlas' disregard of the lives of their criminals.

James simply nodded. "Yes. But don't feel pity. These criminals were recruited into Gainsboros's army with the condition of military service instead of life in jail or death sentences. This in conjunction with the General's near-suicidal missions gave his Battalion an infamous reputation and the nickname 'The Forsaken Warriors.' He holds the most casualty rates in the Atlas Military, as well as a fatality rate in the high eighty percentile within the first year of service." James then shut off his scroll and collected the device from Ozpin's desk. "However, as I said General Gainsboros has a successful track record. Despite the high casualties, the Atlas Council looks the other way. They are content to leave Gainsboros and his Battalion as he is as long as they accomplish their missions. But after that very night of the attack of Beacon, when my own Knights were hacked, no one trusted Atlas and its soldiers, especially since nearly every battalion and commanding officer still use the Knights in their companies and it would be a financial and military nightmare to decommission every Knight." James's face contorted slightly into a stressed and frustrated expression, no doubt remembering to that very night and the fallout that followed afterward.

"But not General Gainsboros. He did not have any Knights in his Battalion." Weiss concluded, coming to the realization.

James nodded. "Exactly. To repair faith with the other Kingdoms and Atlas's reputation, the Council voted for Gainsboros to be the new face of the Atlesian Military as well as allocate funding and allow corporations to sponsor the now famous General. In a single year, Gainsboros is now the most powerful Military General in all of Atlas with powerful supporters, one of the most well-equipped army, and the blessing of the Atlas Council to do whatever is necessary to keep the peace." Though the students couldn't see it, James's hands were clenched angrily behind his back.

Yang spoke up once more. "I know he's a bigshot general and all but why is he escorting the Doctor? Are they…"

James nodded. "Polendina in the past has shown to be a stalwart supporter of Gainsboros throughout his military career. I believe Polendina deliberately raised Gainsboros into the position to obtain armed support from the Atlas Military." James explained.

Ozpin then spoke. "Now do you all see why the situation is dire. A warrior of Julius's caliber underneath Polendina's employ and support of Atlas's most powerful General. Polendina will plunge all of humanity into a war with Salem. Millions of lives are at stake here if we don't act now." Ozpin explained, driving the point in of just how critical their situation will quickly be.

Once more silence descended on both teams. The young women of Team RWBY looked to one another before exchanging looks with Team JNPR. After a silent decision, all looked to the youngest team leader for direction. Ruby for her part looked to her fellow leader, not for guidance Ozpin immediately noticed, but to give relay their support.

Pyrrha solemnly nodded to Ruby before fixing Ozpin a serious gaze. "You said Jaune went with Polendina."

"Yes."

"Then if we are doing this then no more secrets. We want to know everything that is going on from here on out. If we have questions you and everyone else here WILL answer them, or we leave." Pyrrha said, laying down her conditions.

Ozpin couldn't fault the young woman for her words. Afterall her trust in him was lost after that fateful night. "Of course. You will receive nothing but the truth from now on. I promise you this, how little my words may seem to you now." Ozpin replied. He knew he was lying, but multiple lifetimes of fighting to unite humanity taught him that some lies are better than knowing the full truth. There are still things that they cannot know. That no one must know.

Because if they find out the truth about Salem. Then all hope for this generation will be lost.

Pyrrha stepped forward, her already serious expression creasing into a stern frown. "I also want you to swear to me now that once all this is over. Once we stopped Polendina and get Jaune back. You will leave me, my team, and MY friends out of any of your future conflicts. J-Jaune… gave his life cleaning up one of your mistakes. I'll be damned to lose him again because of you." Pyrrha swore in a serious tone filled with conviction.

Ozpin simply nodded his head. "I swear." he replied in an equally serious manner. There was nothing more to say.

Pyrrha's held her frown as she took a single step back. "Then what do you need us to do? How do we stop Polendina?" Pyrrha questioned in a serious tone.

Ozpin leaned back and fully straightened his back. "Pietro Polendina wants to wage war against Salem. However, due to the nature of the matter and how he handled his departure from Beacon, it's safe to say he wants to do so in secret in fear of outside interferences."

Fear was not the right word Ozpin would use to describe Polendina. The man outright threatened with the confidence that Ozpin and his allies cannot touch him, and in a way this is true.

Ozpin, however, will not be confronting the 'Father of Technology' directly. Merely denying the man the means of confronting Salem and preventing the Doctor from plunging all of Remnant into another Great War. "We believe his aim is to retrieve all four Relics and use them against Salem. We cannot let this happen." Glynda continuing from where Ozpin left off. "The Relics themselves are powerful each on their own. But if Polendina collects all four Relics and tries to use them against Salem-"

"He'll just deliver them straight into Salem's hands." James cut in, gaining the attention of the students. "But aren't the Relics safe? You said all four Relics are secured in each of the four Academies and that only a specific Maiden can gain access to them." Weiss pointed out.

James frowned. "The Relics are safe for the moment but let me remind you that Dr. Polendina has a considerable amount of resources, connections, and even fame. If he wanted to, he can move to any Kingdom and no one will or much less can deny him. After all he's called the 'Father of Technology' for a good reason."

Ozpin agreed with James on this point. Despite what they know, the rest of the Kingdoms sees Pietro as a brilliant scientist that single handily pushed humanity's advancement to where it is now. No Council will deny such a man from their kingdoms. They will move the entire Kingdom if Polendina wishes it, whether it's out of greed or simply to be in the good graces of the famed Doctor.

"What about the Maidens? Are they safe from Dr. Polendina?" Yang asked.

Ozpin's expression remained passive but from the worried looks of the students, the same can't be said for his colleagues.

So as he promised. He told them. "No. Not all the Maidens."

This got all the student's attention. "What do you mean Headmaster?" Weiss asked in a concerned tone laced with worry.

Qrow let out an audible sigh. "He means that we still have Maidens that are unaccounted for." Before the students could retort. Qrow then pulled out his flask and took a quick swing before continuing. "As you already know the Maidens are kept secret from the rest of the world, but that doesn't mean there are those who are not aware of their existence. Especially those who work for Salem." Ozpin watched as the man took another sip from his flask.

Ozpin decided to then take over. "What Qrow means is that the Maidens have been targeted by Salem for as long as she has known of their existence. She knows of their powers, the rules of which to transfer the powers, as well as their use in obtaining the Relics. Which was why we have tried to keep the Maidens safe from her grasp. But as you already know, we failed in this." Ozpin explained, seeing unpleased expression flash across the student's faces. No doubt remembering back to that very night.

"Then what Maidens do we know are still around? Is it possible to get them to help us?" Ruby asked.

Ozpin let out a tired sigh. "As of right now we know the whereabouts of two of the Maidens and one is secured with James here." Ozpin explained, gesturing to the General in question. "The fourth one, Fall, was lost to us during the Battle of Beacon." Ozpin saw the looks all the students are giving him. Some with passive expressions, others filled with remorse, only one was filled with both anguish and regret.

"Then those remaining three? Can't call on them to help us?" Ruby asked in a hopeful tone.

Ozpin shook his head. "No. We cannot." Ruby looked taken aback by his reply. "Why? I'm sure if we explain the situation-"

"Miss Rose." Ozpin swiftly cut in. "The two that I'm talking about are the Summer and Spring Maidens. The Summer Maiden is somewhere in Vacuo and the Spring Maiden is respectively somewhere in Mistral." Ozpin explained, deliberately omitting out the information about the Spring Maiden's exact whereabouts.

After all, Miss Xiao Long will no doubt take the information poorly if she knew where Qrow found the Spring Maiden.

"What about the third Maiden that General Ironwood protects? Didn't you say she was secured? Can't we ask for her help?" Ruby asked, digging for an alternative.

James stepped forward to answer, Ozpin let him. "The Winter Maiden is in no condition to be on active duty. Much less walking." James explained.

Confusion marred the young girl's face. "What do yo-"

"She… isn't exactly a spring chicken Ruby." Qrow quickly cut in. No doubt answering the question that was on the young girl's mind.

Yang let out a loud scoff. "Great… we have a mad scientist with an army at his back looking for the Maidens and you guys are not only missing three Maidens who hold the literal keys to magical weapons, but the one you have in your back pockets is an old lady that can't walk. What IS your plan?" Yang asked in a frustrated tone.

Ozpin took all of this in stride. "Our plan is to deny Polendina of all the Relics before he could retrieve them himself. Fortunately for us, he is not aware of the locations of each of the Maidens specifically needed to retrieve the Relics. This will buy us time to find the Maidens, enlist their aid, and retrieve the Relics from the other academies before Polendina gets them." Ozpin explained.

"You make it all sound so easy." Yang sarcastically growled out.

"I assure you it will not be." Ozpin replied.

Nora raised a finger. "Yeah one problem… there are four Relics? Which one is the Doctor going for first?" The young woman asked.

Fortunately, Ozpin knew the answer. Or more specifically, James. "I can answer that." The students turned their heads towards the General. "The Atlas Council just received a report from General Gainsboros's current destination." James then brought out his Scroll as a map of Mistral's northern region popped up on a projected screen. "He and Polendina are currently in Argus, a major coastal city with the largest Atlas owned military base outside of Solitas. It is clear that Polendina aims for the Relic in Haven Academy." James explained as he shut down the map and pocketed his scroll.

"Fortunately, the Headmaster of Haven is a trusted ally. I will contact him directly and inform him of the situation, and if needed, stall Polendina." Ozpin explained.

"And you need us to retrieve the Relic?" Ren asked in a questioning tone. "Yes. But not all of you." Ozpin raised his hand before they could object. "We need to be discreet about this. Polendina has access to the entire CCT Network. If he catches wind of us in Mistral, then he will no doubt move to take the Relic by force or worse…" Ozpin explained, seeing the students backing off. "So what's going to happen is both your teams will go to Mistral under the guise of a Huntsman Field Placement mandatory for second years. Team JNPR, you will be accompanying Qrow to Mistral by a commercial boat to find the Spring Maiden." Ozpin gestured to said man, who in turn waved.

He then turned his attention to the other team. "Team RWBY. You will be assigned to James here. Your portion of the mission is to head to Argus and keep an eye on Polendina's movements. You'll be in a better position to support Team JNPR once they enlist the aid of the Spring Maiden and retrieve the Relic." For Team RWBY's part, they said nothing, but Ozpin could see the concern in their eyes.

"How would we contact each other? We'll be a continent apart. If what you said is true, then what if Polendina track our calls?" Weiss asked.

James stepped forward and took out two Scrolls from his coat. Unlike regular Scrolls, these were black and blocky in shape and size. "Both teams will be using these Scrolls. They are using an encrypted channel I had my team set up just last night. Do not call unless absolutely necessary. Use the messenger to update each other on any events when you have a signal. Try to only message once a day or even better a few days and only the important information." Ironwood explained as he gave one Scroll to Pyrrha and the other to Ruby.

"What about Jaune?" Pyrrha asked, pocketing her new Scroll.

Ozpin leveled a serious gaze. "As of right now, it is too risky to confront Julius since he is under Polendina's employ. But there will be a time and a chance for you all to confront him about his true self. I assure you, that time will come. Just not soon." Ozpin said. Seeing the silent looks of understanding and frustration both teams are giving him.

Pyrrha closed her eyes, her expression hardened into a displeased frown. "Fine then. When do we leave?" The young woman asked.

"I would say leave as soon as possible. But as I understand it, Pyrrha your weapons were destroyed." Ozpin said, looking pointedly at her.

The young woman gave a curt nod. "Yes… They were…"

Ozpin nodded as he looked at James expectantly. The General nodded. "I can get you new weapons customized to your liking within three hours. If you wish you can be present-"

"Sorry I… already have a weapon. I just need a new shield." Pyrrha interrupted with a hint of hesitation and... regret in her eyes.

James's eyes widened but nodded nonetheless. "Alright then. If you have any designs or preferences-"

"I'll come with you. Can… I retrieve my weapon before we do?" Pyrrha asked. Ozpin had an inkling to what weapon Pyrrha has in her possession. But with what is going on and where her motives for joining their mission lie, Ozpin was not surprised.

James nodded. "Of course. I'll be waiting at the docks to take you to my ship. There we can get my team to build your shield to your preferences."

Pyrrha nodded before looking to Ozpin himself. "Is there anything else?" she asked.

Ozpin shook his head. "No. You may all leave. You all have an hour to prepare and meet with your respective Huntsmen for this mission. Thank you all for doing this." Ozpin said.

As the students turn to leave, Pyrrha was the last one to turn away. "We are doing this to get our friend back and to stop a war. Once this is all over… you hold your end of the deal." Pyrrha said as she turned and walked towards the elevator.

Once the elevator doors closed. Silence settled on the room like a heavy blanket. No one spoke for what seemed like a small eternity.

"That could've gone any worse than I imagined." Qrow spoke with a sigh. Immediately James turns on Ozpin with an all too familiar frown. "Ozpin I told you this was a bad idea? Their loyalties are not with us and have threatened to go AWOL if things don't go their way." James said in a frustrated tone.

Ozpin calmly clasped his hands on his desk. "That's where you are wrong James. Their loyalties are not to me. I very well lost that privilege." Ozpin explained. He then frowned. "However, they all understand what's at stake here. They all have lost a dear friend and were given a second chance to see him return to them." Ozpin then brought the long-forgotten mug to his lips, taking a much-needed drink.

'Cold.' Ozpin thought. "I trust them to do what is right. As for us, we need to prepare." Ozpin placed down his now empty mug on the cracked table.

"Yes." Glynda spoke. "We have much to do. But for now, you need to contact Leonardo and expl-"

"Not through the CCT. Too risky concerning what Pietro can do." Ozpin said as he then brought his hands to the wheels of his chair and started moving away from his desk and towards the elevator. "Glynda I need you to commission a Bullhead for Haven Academy. I'll drop-in and meet with Leonardo directly." Ozpin made it to the elevator and pressed the call button.

"Ozpin what about Beacon? It's nearly the beginning of the second semester." Glynda asked in a panicked tone.

"I'll leave the running of the school to you Glynda. James, Qrow." Both men moved to stand behind Ozpin. Soon the elevator doors opened as Ozpin rolled himself into the elevator's confines.

"Please… all three of you. Be careful out there and keep the children safe." Glynda said, her pleading eyes directed directly at Ozpin.

Ozpin gave a tired smile as the doors closed. "They are no longer children Glynda. Not anymore…"

Qrow pulled out his flask while James remained silent. The elevator trip down never felt so quiet.

Pyrrha stood alone in her room looking down on her bed. The red sheets spread cleanly over her bed, covering both the mattress and the pillows. However, her eyes were not focused on the bed, but what lay underneath it. Staring through the furniture. Imagining it's shape and position where she last left it.

She knelt and reached underneath the bed. Soon Pyrrha felt the familiar object and, with a moment of hesitation, gently pulled it out into the light.

It was five feet in length and wrapped in a white cloth. Dirty and dusty from nearly a year of neglect.

Pyrrha took a deep breath before she began slowly unraveling the cloth. Layer after layer the object wrapped within slowly revealed itself.

The steel blade reflected brightly against the sun illuminating from the open window. It's golden cross-hilt glimmered just as bright and the sleek leatherbound handle glisten with a beautiful navy blue color.

Crocea Mors. The perpetually clean blade lay on the dirty wrappings right before Pyrrha's knees. With it were the melted slabs of what used to be its shield, destroyed during that very night.

Crocea Mors was given to her long ago by the very family it so rightfully belongs with. The Arc family thought it will serve better in her hands. That Jaune would have wanted her to have their family's legacy as well as continue Jaune's.

Pyrrha always was envious of Jaune having such a fine weapon. She remembered always lecturing him to maintain his weapon. To clean its blade. To always sharpen it when he has the chance.

Even with all these reminders Jaune still forgot to do his daily maintenance from time to time, but despite that his family's blade never failed him. Pyrrha never remembered a time when Jaune's sword needed sharpening, never remembered when it failed to match her own weapons during their training, never remembered when Jaune had difficulty cutting through a Grimm with its blade.

Before, Pyrrha wanted Crocea Mors as hers. But now… all it brought was painful memories.

So she stashed it away. Out of sight. Out of mind. Lying underneath her bed without purpose other than to gather dust.

But now… she has need of it.

Pyrrha gently traced the side of the blade with the tips of her fingers. The blade sang as she slowly dragged her finger across its steel form as if welcoming her touch after all this time.

With a deep breath, Pyrrha reached out with her right hand and softly grasped the handle. The soft leather remained firm underneath her palm as she lifted the blade into the air towards her face.

Green eyes stared back as she brought the side of the blade close to her face. Even after all this time of neglect, Crocea Mors remained forever perfect. The very blade had no imperfections all along its form and fit perfectly in Pyrrha's hand.

But she knew in her heart that she is not the true wielder of Crocea Mors and never will be. Before Crocea Mors had the purpose of defending Jaune. To be at his very side where she could not.

Now she will give his sword a new purpose. One that she will see till the very end.

"Jaune… I swear that I will bring you back. I swear to return Crocea Mors back into your rightful hands."

Pyrrha grasped Crocea Mors with both hands. Green eyes filled with conviction glared back on the blade. "So until then. Let me borrow its strength."

With those final words, Pyrrha grabbed the metal slabs off the ground and made her way out the doors and towards the docks. Crocea Mors shining brightly with renewed purpose.

Location: Anima, Higanbana

Higanbana. A large trading village that is situated along the main road towards the Kingdom of Mistral.

The village had many residents, many of whom are families and retired Huntsmen looking for a quiet life outside of Mistral's walls. Higanbana is protected by tall concrete walls patrolled daily by the village's own guards as well as a few of said retired Huntsmen from any Grimm or bandits that dare approach this peaceful village.

Fortunately, the village has yet to experience such attacks on a large scale in its lifetime. The people are content with the peaceful quiet, and a content village is a happy village.

Among the many houses and buildings within the village, one stands out as the village's town hall. And like every village having a town hall, there must be a village head who holds the responsibility of running it.

An elderly man, Huang Sei, is currently in his office signing off another shipment of food and Dust that just arrived in the last caravan from Mistral. Despite the vast territory that Mistral possesses, Huang always feels fortunate that his not-so-little village is within a week's trek to the Kingdom itself. He would often see the occasional Parasail of the Mistral Guard soaring over their village. Just adds another peace of mind for his people that Mistral is still looking out for its people.

Huang placed the feather pen back into the ink jar and leaned comfortably back on his chair. His eyes naturally roamed up to check his clock.

"Just in time for dinner… How time flies when you're busy." Huang thought out loud. He then neatly organized the sizable stack of signed papers on his wooden desk and dropped the unsigned sheets into the drawer below for the Huang of tomorrow to deal with.

Despite the relevant peace, He was still the head of Higanbana. Such a position carries a great responsibility which he was elected by his people to uphold. Part of such responsibility is signing off on important supplies for trading or import between Higanbana, Mistral, and even to other nearby villages.

Speaking of nearby villages, Huang could take this time to write another letter to his brother in Shion. It has been some time since his brother's last letter telling him how he took up a rare new flower in his gard-

*BANG!* "SIR! WE HAVE AN EMERGENCY!"

Huang nearly shot out of his seat by his young secretary's sudden panicked entrance. "Yin! What happened!?"

Yin took a moment to breathe. "A group of refugees just arrived at the front gate! They said they are from Shion!"

Huang immediately shot up from his seat. Eyes widening in shock. "From Shion!? Is my brother among them!?" Huang desperately asked.

Yin shook her head. "I didn't see them! A runner from the gate just informed me! The guards are waiting for your decision!" Yin informed.

Huang immediately grabbed his cane and hobbled as fast as his legs could carry him out the door. "COME! We have no time to waste!" Huang shouted as his secretary quickly followed behind him.

He soon saw the young man waiting anxiously in the lobby. He recognized the young man as part of the town's guard. "SAI! TAKE ME TO THE GATE NOW!" Huang quickly shouted, startling the young man in opening the door for him as he exited the building.

Even from the door, Huang can see the village folk congregating towards the front gate.

Many of the villagers, all he knew by name, tried to ask him what is going on but he ignored them in favor of getting to the gate.

Soon enough he saw the large metal doors that made the front gate to their village. A small crowd of worried men and women gathered at the front gate, the guards forming a protective circle around the gate.

Huang wasn't deterred as he started making his way through the crowd. Once the villagers saw him, they immediately made way for Huang to pass.

A wizened man in steel armor and wielding a battle axe quickly approached Huang. "Huang! We have-"

"Let them through Vermillion!" Huang shouted at the man.

Vermillion, Captain of his guard, was taken aback. "But Huang-"

"I SAID LET THEM THROUGH! If they are from Shion then let them through this instant!" Huang ordered. His Captain gave a frown of hesitation before turning towards the guards. "Open the Gates! Let them through!"

The gate slowly but surely opened. The guards surrounding the gate stood ready but did not aim their rifles.

Soon enough the gate fully opened. Huang could see a small group of ragged men all young and wielding an assortment of guns and chipped swords.

Huang counted seven amongst their small group, all of them looked like they have been through hell. Some were clearly injured, others had blood staining their clothes.

But the one that caught Huang's attention the most was the wizened middle-aged man standing in front of this group.

"Lan!"

"Brother Huang!"

His younger brother rushed forward and immediately pulled Huang into a tight hug. Huang immediately broke the hug but held his little brother's shoulders as he examined his haggard form. "Lan, what happened? What happened to your village?" Huang asked.

His younger brother's expression contorted in anguish. "Bandits attacked our village. They drew in the Grimm before they were driven off." His usually calm brother choked out.

Huang's heart plummeted at the news as he heard the concerned whispers all around him. Many in Higanbana had friends and even family in Shion, everyone was worried.

"W-Why are there so few of you here…? Are there others?" Huang questioned in a fearful tone, afraid of the answer he may receive.

Lan for his part remained calm. "The other survivors are back down the road. I went ahead with our escort to notify you of their coming. We have injured and we need all the help you can spare brother Huang." Lan explained.

Huang nodded as he turned around and spotted his Captain nearby. "Captain-"

"Aye! CALL THE DOCTOR AND PREPARE THE MEDICS! WE HAVE REFUGEES INBOUND! SOMEONE CLEAR OUT THE TAVERN FOR WOUNDED!" The Captain barked out as he and the other guards rushed to carry out the relief efforts.

Trusting the Captain to carry out the relief efforts, Huang turned back to see the gratitude and relief in his brother's eyes. "Thank you, brother…"

Huang shook his head. "Think nothing of it. Father always taught us to help those in need. Your people will be safe with us. I'm only glad you all made it out safely." Huang simply replied.

Lan nodded. "Yes. We would have all died if not for the warrior that came to our aid. He drove off the bandits as well as exterminated all the Grimm attacking our village." His younger brother replied. This bit of information surprised Huang but surprise immediately turned to gratitude. "I have to meet with this Huntsman you spoke of. Is he still with you?" Huang asked.

Lan answered with a nod. "Yes. He stayed with us and escorted us all the way here and is currently with the rest of our group." Lan then leveled a pleading look on Huang. "He is a man of great selflessness and courage brother. Though he did not ask for it, I wish to see him rewarded for all he has done for the people of Shion." Lan asked, no, pleaded with a gratitude Huang has never seen from him towards anyone.

Huang nodded with a smile. "Of course brother. Nothing less for the Huntsman who saved my brother." Huang promised.

Lan nodded in thanks. "Thank you, brother. But I have to warn you. He…"

Before Lan could finish, there was a large commotion at the gate behind him. Huang looked over to see what is going on.

He immediately saw a group of men and women, both young and old, quickly enter through the gates. He recognized this group as the survivors of Shion, their dishearteningly low numbers and maltreated forms placed a heavyweight on Huang's heart.

The feeling in his heart worsened as two men pulled a large wagon filled with those seemingly too injured, old, or those carrying babies, pregnant or otherwise.

Some of the villagers of Higanbana immediately rush towards the aid of the survivors, either giving water to those desperately in need or help move the injured.

Soon enough, everyone was helping someone. Higanbana residents helping the Shion survivors whether they were human or Faunus.

Huang's felt pride in his disheartened heart. Moments like these give him hope for a brighter future.

"LAN!"

Huang's attention immediately turned towards an approaching brown-haired man wearing brown and grey steel armor and wielding a ramshackle looking rifle like the other young men. "Nau is this everyone?" Lan asked the man.

The man named Nau shook his head. "We still have some stragglers. But he's with them."

Huang stepped forward to greet the young man. "Hello there. My name is Huang Sei, I am Lan's elder brother and official head of this village." Huang introduced himself with a bow.

Nau quickly returned the bow. "H-Hello, sir! My name is Nau Sen, Huntsman of Shion."

Huang chuckled. "Please call me Huang. Are you the one I have to thank for rescuing my brother and his people?" Huang asked.

Nau chuckled but shook his head. "No, I am not. That honor doesn't belong to me but to someone else."

This confused Huang. "So where is this one you speak of?"

Huang didn't receive and answer as he heard a gasp and another, louder, commotion at the gate. Huang's eyes widened as he turned towards the gate, ready to see the worse.

But what he saw left him speechless.

Entering through the gate with thunderous steps is something he can only describe as an Armored Green Giant. Its massive form was covered in what seemed to be man-sized armor plates, legs the size of tree trunks, massive black pauldrons with gothic style of emblems and markings, and on its chest was a golden-winged skull. An armored head with bright red eyes gave it a stunted but no less intimidating look.

As it neared the Armored Giant's features became clearer. Draped across it's back is a long green cape that looked like it was skinned off the hide of a dragon. In the Giant's right hand is a man-sized war hammer and in it's left is a massive shield colored the same green, black and gold variation of its armor.

But what caught Huang's attention the most is those accompanying the Armored Giant. There were a dozen children surrounding the Giant, all smiling, running, laughing, and even hanging off the armored being's arms. Huang sees even three children being carried by the Giant itself, two on both of its massive pauldrons and one teal haired girl smiling and directing the Giant all the while sitting on top of the Giant's armored head.

The Giant with its small gaggle of children made their way through to the middle of the parting crowd. The Armored Giant came to a stop amongst the crowd before getting down on one knee. A metallic voice rang out from the Giant, the exact words Huang couldn't make out, but the children on his body all adopted upset expressions before sliding off his shoulders and head. The teal haired girl looked around before spotting Huang, she smiled before directing the attention of the Armored Giant to him. With the children off, the Giant immediately stood back up to its full intimidating height, towering over both the residents of Higanbana and survivors of Shion before turning it's gaze directly to where Huang is standing.

Like the giant it was, the Armored Giant started to approach with ground shaking steps. The crowd, both villagers and guard, immediately gave way to the Giant, either in awe at the massive being or intimidated at its sheer size. Either way, the Armored Giant quickly closed the distance on Huang's position. The teal haired girl ran through the crowd and ran right into Nau, giving him a hug. Must be his daughter?

Huang did not have time to ponder on the girl and her father as the Giant now stood before him. It was only then it became apparent to Huang just how truly MASSIVE it is. Huang had to crane his head up to meet the eyes of the Armored Giant. The Giant itself looked down on him, not out of disrespect, but simply because it was near twice his height.

Huang could not lie to himself, he felt intimidated by the Giant towering over him. He felt extremely small against this Armored Giant and rightfully so.

"Master Salamander! It is good you have arrived with the children! I hope they weren't too much trouble?" Lan, his brother, spoke to the towering Giant with a relieved smile and a tone denoted to one who earned respect.

The Giant turned it's red visors to his brother. "They were well behaved Master Lan." The Giant replied in a distinctly male voice. His metallic voice echoed deep with power with a surprisingly soft tone benefitting a humble hermit. Despite his friendly disposition, there was no doubt in Huang's mind that this armored man is a warrior through and through. His armor upon closer inspection was covered in a collection of scratches and scrapes of an untold number of battles.

"Greetings. I am Li'Rhan. Firedrake Master of the Salamanders."

Huang was momentarily taken aback by the Giant's powerful voice, only now realizing the Giant was talking to him. "H-Hello. My apologies… my name is Huang Sei, Village Head of Higanbana and Lan Sei's elder brother." Huang quickly said. "Are you the one who came to my brother's aid and saved the survivors?"

The giant, Li'Rhan, gave a small nod. "Yes. I came to the aid of the people of Shion and saved all those who I could." Li'Rhan answered.

With the Giant's confirmation, Huang smiled and gave a deep bow. "I thank you for saving my brother and the people of Shion. If it is within my power, I shall grant you any reward you wish." Huang said with every once of gratitude he has.

"It is my sacred and sworn duty to protect the innocents of Humanity wherever they may be. See to it that the people of Shion are cared for. That alone will be enough for me." Li'Rhan said in a humble tone.

However, Huang had to argue. "I understand your view, but for us and for those you have saved we will forever be in your debt. I wish for you to receive some form of reward for all that you did." Huang vehemently argued. He didn't want to take no for an answer, this man risked his life for his brother and the good people of Shion, people he has no connections to. Not only that but to escort them all the way to Higanbana only to refuse a reward and ensure the care for the very same people he rescued.

Such a character is a rare sight within and outside of Mistral, even amongst Huntsmen. Which is why Huang will not budge on this.

For the Giant's part, Li'Rhan was silent. The glowing red visors of his intimidating helmet stared through Huang's own.

Finally, the Armored Giant nodded. "Very well. I seek information."

Huang smiled. "If it's within my knowledge I will be glad to answer any questions you may have." He replied.

Li'Rhan broke his gaze as he drew his gaze towards the surrounding crowd, seemingly looking for something. "Kuriyori… what of its fate."

Huang immediately dropped his smile, replacing it with a somber frown. "The village was overrun and destroyed by Grimm around ten years ago. There were no known survivors…"

Deafening silence descended between Huang and the Armored Giant. Li'Rhan did not speak and Huang cannot tell what the man underneath all that armor is thinking.

Did he know someone in that village? Was he looking for closure? Why now of all times?

"Does this road lead directly to Kuriyori?" Li'Rhan asked, turning to look down the cobblestone road that directly cut through the village to the other side.

Huang nodded. "Yes, it does. But it's still a few days walk to what remains of the village." He explained, knowing exactly why the Armored Giant is asking.

There was a moment of silence before Li'Rhan turned to look at Huang's brother, who has been quiet this entire time. "Master Lan. I have upheld my oath to see your people safe. I shall be returning to my mission."

Lan gave a small nod and a smile. "Of course. Thank you, Master Salamander. But before you go… I have one more request."

Huang gave a shocked look to his brother's brazen request. By every right, the Armored Warrior should not give anything more especially after all he has done for them. What is his brother thinking?

Lan continued. "Can you show us your face? I apologize if this offends you and you have every right to say no… But I wish to see the face of the man who risked his life to save mine." Lan requested with genuine gratitude.

Huang would be lying to himself if he did not want to see the face underneath that armored helmet. He wanted to see the face of the man who would selfishly put himself in danger for those he had no clear connections to. To finally see the man who he himself said is sworn by duty and honor to protect the innocent.

And from what Huang could see and hear, everyone in Higanbana as well as the survivors of Shion were waiting on bated breath to see the Armored Warrior's face.

"A-Ah I think Master Li'Rhan is quite busy!"

Huang turned his attention to the other member of their group. The one named Nau who seemed panicked for some reason. "What do you mean Nau?" Lan asked in a concerned tone.

Nau quickly explained. "I mean we shouldn't impose on master Li'Rhan. Afterall he-"

*Phsssss…*

Nau was suddenly interrupted by a loud slow hiss of air. Huang immediately saw the glowing red visors of the Armored Giant's helm dim to nothingness. Li'Rhan then gently placed his hammer and shield on the ground propped against his sides before reaching up and removing his helmet.

When his hands went down with his helmet, there was a startled cry and gasps of shock amongst the surrounding crowd. Huang's eyes widened in complete shock, staring directly into the red glowing orbs of the pitch-black face.

There was only silence. No one dared to say anything as the now revealed Li'Rhan held his helm in one arm. His scarred skin was pitch black and eyes as red the… Grimm's.

Huang didn't want to assume. He will never believe the very man who rescued his brother and the survivors of Shion would be-

"I am Li'Rhan!" The sudden shout from said man shook Huang out of his shock. "I am an Adeptus Astartes of the Salamander Chapter!"

Huang could see the fear and worry amongst the crowd, his own village's guards were tense but still held their guns down.

Li'Rhan continued. "I have sworn an oath and by sacred duty to defend Humanity and the innocent! I do not carry out this duty because it is asked of me! I carry out this duty because it is expected of me!" Li'Rhan then lifted his shield and placed it in front of him for everyone to see. The golden dragon symbol on his shield shined against the sunlight. "What happened yesterday is indeed tragic! You have all lost those you held dear to your hearts! Faces you will never see again! Voices you will never hear again! The warmth of those you will never feel again…"

At those words Huang couldn't help but grieve for the lives that were taken away and from what he could hear, the cries he could hear from those who have indeed lost someone, they also cannot help but grieve.

"Despite your loss! Despite your tragedy! I have seen the fires of life burn brightly in the eyes of every man, woman, and child!" The Armored Giant stated. "I have seen the fire within all of you! The same fire to make a life in the dangers of this world! The same fire to persevere in these trying times! I have seen that same fire of will in all of you!"

Suddenly Li'Rhan lifted his helmet to his head and placed it back on. The red visors glowed once more. "I… am the result of your fire! Your strength! Without the strength of those like you, I would never be born! If Humanity did not have the will of fire to persevere then I will never have survived!" The Armored Giant then roamed his gaze over the crowd. "Without those like you with the strength, courage, and will to continue forward. I… will have no purpose for my existence."

Silence once again settled on the village of Higanbana at the Armored Giant's words and what he said. Huang watched as Li'Rhan lifted his shield and hammer before turning directly to meet his gaze.

"Master Huang. See to the safety of the people of Shion. I have complete faith you all have the strength to move forward." With those final words, the Armored Giant turned and started walking down the cobblestone road.

"WAIT!"

Suddenly the teal haired girl ran from Nau's hands and towards the Armored Giant. Li'Rhan for his part stopped just as the disproportionally smaller girl ran into and hugged one of the Giant's legs.

The small girl buried her face into the Giant's leg and started to cry. "Thank you for *hic!* *sniff* saving me and daddy!" The little girl said.

Li'Rhan remained silent before settling down his shield, freeing his hand. The Armored Giant then had to lean sideways to pet the girl's tiny head, his armored hand nearly engulfing the girl's entire head. "It was my honor little one. You will grow up strong." Li'Rhan said in a humble voice.

Soon the little girl let go of the Giant's leg, eyes still moist with tears but a large smile adorned the child's face.

Suddenly someone broke from the crowd, a man. "Master Salamander!" The man yelled as Li'Rhan turned to meet his gaze.

Suddenly the man dropped to his knees and bowed with his head and hands touching the very ground. "THANK YOU! THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY LIFE!" The man all but shouted out.

Huang's eyes widened as another, a woman carrying her child quickly stepped forward and dropped to her knees. "Thank you, Master Salamander! Thank you for saving me and my baby!" The woman cried out and bowing with tears flowing free from her eyes.

Suddenly like a dam the survivors of Shion, even some residents of Higanbana, were stepping forward and bowing to their knees in thanks at The Armored Giant. The air was drowned out by everyone, all shouting their thanks and crying out their gratitude for their armored savior.

Even Huang could not help but drop to his knees with his little brother, cane be damned. "Thank you! Thank you for saving my brother!"

"Thank you! Thank you for saving my daughter!"

"Thank you for saving us all!" Lan cried out. Huang could hear the tears from his brother, he himself was also crying, thankful towards the selfless man who saved his one and only family.

Huang soon lifted his head; through his teary eyes, he could see the indomitable form of the Armored Giant.

The Armored Giant simply nodded, turned to the road, and walked.

Everyone followed him to the gates until he passed through them. He never once looked back because he did not need to.

Li'Rhan of the Salamanders had faith that Huang, his brother, and their people will find the strength to move forward. He will make sure that the day the Armored Giant returns, he will find an even more prosperous village than ever seen.

Done! What did you readers think? Leave a comment as usual and once again can't reply to Guest comments.

Hope I did the Salamander justice, just envision a good guy in Space Marine form. They are naturally kind super humans with a flame fetish.

Now if for some reason you didn't read it above I decided to drop The Guardian of the Swarm for a new story decided by a voting poll. Go back top to get the full details.

Any way time to answer some questions.

1)Why is Team RWBY and JNPR so distrusting of Ozpin?

After being told about nearly everything (expect for the obvious) can you imagine what it must feel like when a tragedy happens and the people who are in charge expected it to happen but did nothing.

Basically the Battle of Beacon, Yang is pissed as usual knowing that Ozpin knew and did nothing to stop it, both Blake and Weiss are stewing in their own thoughts of the situation, Ruby is still skeptical but would give Ozpin an olive branch in favour of focusing on the bigger picture.

Pyrrha is an obvious one. Ozpin tried to use her and brought her into the fold and then her beloved Jaune dies to clean up Ozpin's mistake. Ren is much the same as Weiss and Blake while Nora is Nora, much like her Season 7 counterpart.

2)Why does Pyrrha have Crocea Mors?

I believe it fits. The Arc family to emotionally scarred of the loss of their son to even gaze on the sword, and since no one is a confirmed Huntress or Huntsmen (7 sisters plus an unidentified father) so they gave it to Pyrrha as she was the closest to Jaune and the one who trained Jaune and cared for him. To keep and carry out Jaune's memory.

Plus I have some fun things plan for how Pyrrha will use it.

3)How will Team RWBY and JNPR do their missions? Will they be following the canon events?

At this point it's all off road from here. With JNPR going with Qrow to retrieve the Spring Maiden and RWBY going to Argus to spy on Polendina, what could possibly go wrong?

If you have any other questions just put them in the comments and I'll get around to them.

Anyway I received a lot of positive comments on my last Omake.

Here is another.

Omake: From Noodle to Knight

Jaune was in his backyard training and practicing with his wooden sword, DAEMON BANE, that the man called his father gave to him to use.

One of the many limits that Jaune found out about his human body alongside with having little to no muscles, shortness, durability, shortness, night vision, anti-venoms, shortness, no black carapace, shortness, no protection runes, and his shortness is having no strength or muscle memory for his centuries of sword skill.

Not only that but according to the woman who is supposedly his mother he is still six terran years old.

Jaune frowned as he swung his sword once again at his training target.

*THWACK!* "OWUUU! JAUNE! STOP! PLEASE! I'M BEGGING YOU! MY AURA'S GONE!" *THWACK!* "AAAAHH!"

Jaune did not stop as he brought his wooden sword down again on the beaten and groveling form that calls himself his father. Jaune needed training and to develop his poorly growing muscles and his father offered to train him.

This was their third day of training. The first day Jaune was soundly beaten by his father. The second day he defeated his father.

Today, he beats in his new training target.

*THWACK!* "OW! MY LEG!" *THWACK* "OW! MY OTHER LEG!" *THWACK* "OW! MY THIRD LEG!"

"JAUNE JULIUS ARC! What did I tell you!?"

Jaune stopped as he turned to face the woman calling herself as his mother standing at the backyard door. "Don't hurt the family maker. But everything else is ok." Jaune recited from memory.

The one named mother nodded. "Exactly! Now leave your father alone and come inside! Your girlfriend is here!" the woman said.

Jaune's face formed into his trademark frown. Canonesses Yang is here again?

With one final meaty hit, Jaune held his DAEMON BANE at his side as he made his way inside the building, he called home.

His mother stood by the stairs. "Yang is just in your room. Now don't do what I would do~" His mother said with a smile fitting of a Slaneesh daemon.

Not that she was a daemon. Jaune checked many times to make sure.

He simply nodded as he made his way upstairs, dodging through the annoying life forms called sisters and into his own cell.

Not much a cell. Many times he tried to rid his cell of anything unnecessary. But the woman named mother went into one of her red rages when he pushed his bed down the stairs while the man called father was on it.

Unfortunately, he received another bed. Now chained to the wall.

Currently, his cell is bare with grey walls and the only form of color is his bed and Pumpkin Petes Cereal covers and sheets.

He had a table for schola work but ever since the Happy Times Elementary schola progenium shut down after he led the Adulescentes Filii Imperialis in a full scale take over he had turned it into his own shrine of worship to the God-Emperor.

He would've won the war of the schola if not for the people called his parents. Tempting him with the sweetness of frozen milk cream in a bowel.

It's not heresy to eat frozen milk cream in a bowel. He personally sanctioned it as a meal of humanity.

"Hey, Jaune!"

Jaune was taken out of his thoughts about frozen milk cream by the other occupant in the room, who is currently sitting on his bed. "Canoness Yang. What brings you here?" Jaune questioned. He blessed Yang as a Canoness, the first of the Adeptus Sororitas in this world.

Despite her odd behavior of being happy all the time and distinct lack of respect for rank. Canoness Yang has proven herself to be a staunch ally and the first to accept the Imperial Creed.

However, she did not exhibit her normally positive behavior, she exhibits something arguably worse.

Fear. "Jaune… I need your help."

Jaune immediately closed his door. He then turned the lock on the knob sealing it from outside intrusions before turning to Yang. "You need my assistance?" Jaune questioned.

Yang gave him a confused frown "What's does 'assistance' mean? Does that mean help?"

Jaune sighed. "Yes. It means help." He clarified.

Yang smiled. "Ok! So you know how I only have a daddy right?"

Jaune nodded. "Yes. You have a father and the man who smells of alcohol and hopelessness."

"You mean Uncle Qrow? Then yeah." Yang answered. "Anyway, you know that I… don't have a mommy…"

How could Jaune forget? The first time he heard of this is when he stepped in and drove off the two lower-life forms called 5th graders. That short battle showed just how weak Jaune was reduced too.

Jaune nodded. "Yes, you are motherless." Jaune said.

Yang nodded. "So I tried asking daddy again today about my mommy. But then he started crying again and soon drank something that made him smell like Uncle Qrow on a good day."

Jaune frowned. "Is that why you are here again?" Jaune questioned. Yang coming to his home became a daily occurrence. The woman named mother accepted her as one of her own, meaning Yang has unofficially a daughter with the same woman who calls herself his mother.

Yang shook her head. "Not this time. After dad started crying, he said something about a secret hideout, so I checked daddy's room and found this." Yang pullout a photo pict of a black-haired red-eyed woman standing in front of a dilapidated shack.

The woman also looked clearly intoxicated. Held two bottles in each hand and seemed to be passed out face-first against the shack.

Yang continued pointing at the pict. "I think that woman is my mommy and if that place is where my mommy is then I want to go there." Yang explained.

Jaune frowned. "Why do you need my assistance?"

Yang gave a sheepish look. "The shack is in the forest daddy told us not to go into. I'm bringing Ruby along for company, but I wanted to ask you to come with us. Daddy said the forest is dangerous but he's crying and Uncle Qrow is sleeping on the toilet again. Can you please come! You're the strongest boy other than my daddy and Uncle Qrow! Pretty please!" Yang pleaded with pleading eyes.

Jaune frowned before nodding. "I will come with you, Canoness Yang. You will face dangers in this venture and you will need my sword." Jaune said, tightening his hold on DAEMON BANE.

Yang gave him a large smile. "Thanks, Jaune! You're the best!"

Jaune nodded before unlocking his room door. "It would do poorly if you were to die away from my watch. Let us make haste." Jaune opened the door and exited his cell.

Yang followed. "Yeah let's go find my mommy! But first, we have to get Ruby. I left her on my wagon inside a bush for safety."

"Very well. MOTHER! Me and Canoness Yang are going out!"

"ALREADY! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU JAUNE!"

"THAT'S MY BOY! I ALWAYS KNEW HE HAD IT IN HIM!"

Jaune exited his house with Yang in tow. Ignoring the people called his parents rabble on.

They soon found Ruby asleep on a wagon inside the bush in front of the house. With the girl retrieved Jaune followed Yang into the forest.

4 hours later…

Yang pulled the heavy wagon behind her. Her little sister Ruby still sleeping in the wagon and Jaune following right behind her with his cool sword in hand.

Jaune was her very first friend and bestest friend in the world. He was also the coolest most strongest boy she ever met, beside her daddy and Uncle of course. He's also very fun to be around, though he can be mean at times Yang still thinks he is very nice.

Like when he beat up those big bullies. Yang was angry and scared at the big bullies. It was her first day of school and the bullies were making fun of her because she didn't have a mommy.

Then Jaune came in. Beat up the bullies and was sent to the principal's office by the mean Miss Green the meanest teacher in the school.

Since then Yang made Jaune her BFFL (Best Friend For Life) and been with him ever since, even when he led everyone against the teachers and shut down the school.

Daddy didn't tell her why the school closed but Uncle Qrow did. Apparently, the M.O.P (Mothers Of Patch) did a thing called 'search and assess' the entire school and the teachers by their leader who is also Jaune's nice mother.

After they did their search, they found that they have been stealing money from other mommies and daddies and using it for bad candies and drinks that Uncle Qrow always drinks. So the M.O.P shut down the school and all the teachers and the principal were arrested.

Yang has been homeschooled ever since alongside her BFFL. Sometime she would go to his house and sometimes he comes to her house for school. She like Jaune's house. It was big enough for him and all his sisters and his mom is very nice to her.

That's why she wanted Jaune to come with her. Yang's leg is hurting so much, she is also hungry and tired, but she kept walking and did not complain once. She wanted to finally meet her mommy. Ask her why she didn't come home. Why she left her and daddy.

Did her mommy not love her?

All of these questions will be answered soon. "Canoness Yang! Are we near!?"

Yang groaned. "Not yet Jaune! I think we're almost there!" Yang answered, wrenching the wagon over a small root.

Soon Yang could see something in the distance. Her eyes widened. It was the same shack in the photo!

"There it is!" Yang yelled as she ran towards the shack.

"CANONESS YANG! CEASE THIS INSTANT!" Jaune yelled after her, but she didn't listen. Her mommy might be here. She is going to finally meet her mommy!

As she was about halfway to the shack when she suddenly stopped by a loud growl. Suddenly many glowing red eyes appeared within the dark shack as a black form slowly appeared from the shack.

They were Grimm.

Yang wanted to run, to scream out in fear. But her legs refused to move and her voice was stuck in her throat.

Suddenly the middle Grimm let out a loud roar and charged straight towards Yang. She couldn't move, she was so scared… she wanted her daddy!

Yang watched in horror as the Grimm towered over her, it's claw raised high to end her life.

"CANONESS YANG!"

Yang didn't know what happened. She was suddenly pushed aside and a sickening crack echoed across the forest. Yang stared in horror as she saw Jaune blocking the Grimm's claw with his sword. It's claw dug deeply into Jaune's shoulder but his sword kept it from cutting through him.

Yang quickly pulled the wagon with her sister in it to her. "JAUNE!"

Jaune let out a scream of anger and pain as he dropped to one knee as the Grimm's claw dug deeper into his shoulder.

Suddenly more Grimm came out of the shack, all growling at turning their attention to Yang and…

"Y-Yang…"

Yang saw Ruby has woken up and saw her little sis look towards the Grimm in absolute fear.

Yang quickly grabbed Ruby off the wagon and into a tight hug. Her eyes never leaving the bloodied kneeling form of Jaune.

Yang closed her eyes crying tears as she saw the Grimm raise its other claw. She couldn't watch.

"I… am the hammer…"

Yang opened her tear-filled eyes and widened at what she saw.

Jaune was glowing bright white.

"I am the bane of his foes…"

The other Grimm turned their attention towards the glowing Jaune. Jaune suddenly stood back up. Slowly he forced the claw that he was holding back from his shoulders.

"The instrument of his will…"

Jaune's wooden sword started to glow. Suddenly his sword turned bright white and completely cut through the Grimm's hand. The Grimm roared in pain and it backed away from the glowing Jaune.

"And the edge of his sword!" Jaune then stood covered in a bright white light. His horrible wound soon closed shut like they were never there and raised his glowing sword.

"COME DAEMONS OF DARKNESS! MEET YOUR END BY MY BLADE!" Jaune roared out as he charged straight towards the Grimm.

Qrow flew as fast as his little wings could carry him, dodging past branches and leaves like a bird possessed.

When he woke up on the familiar white bowel it was already past lunchtime. He went looking for Tai and found the man crying with a bottle of wine in the kitchen.

Knowing the guy will be out for a while, he went looking for his two favorite nieces. After some time he couldn't find them, but he did find a note in Yang's room that turned him instantly sober.

He all but crashed out of the house and flew as fast as he could into the forest. He was nearing the old shack, so he quickly transformed back and pulled out Harbinger from his back.

He could already hear it. The Grimm roaring out and-

"MY FAITH IS MY SHIELD!"

Qrow had to duck as a Beowolf flew overhead and smashed into a tree behind him. He watched almost dumbstruck at the eviscerated corpse of the Beowolf before it fully turned into black mist.

He looked back towards where the Grimm came from before moving closer to see what the hell is going on.

What he saw left his mind blank.

"MY FURY IS MY SWORD!" A headless Grimm fell onto the ground.

"NONE SHALL STAND AGAINST ME! FOR I AM A DEFENDER OF HUMANITY!" A Beowolf had its legs sliced clean off before a bright sword plunged straight into its chest.

In all his years seeing things that people call him crazy for, the blonde little brat Jaune from the Arc family glowed like a 600-gigawatt bulb with a glowing sword is cutting through Grimm like chaff.

And this is coming from a man who works for an immortal wizard who jumps from body to body to stop an evil woman hellbent on destroying the world. And everybody wonders why he drinks.

Another Beowolf attacked the kid from behind, but whatever aura that kid has easily blocked the attack before the kid spun around and bisected the Beowolf at the waist.

"I AM HIS HAMMER OF JUDGMENT! I AM HIS SWORD OF JUSTICE! I! AM! VENGENCE!" The kid roared out as he sliced the last Beowolf clean in half.

Qrow has heard of Huntsmen who would say cheesy lines during a fight, a waste of breath in his opinion. But this kid took that and somehow made it work.

He then looked around the vicinity, seeing splintered trees and cratered ground, but Qrow soon found his nieces.

To his relief his nieces were fine. Yang and Ruby were sitting behind their red wagon.

What was not ok were their expressions. The very same expressions whenever Qrow would show them some of his cool Huntsmen moves to earn him some brownie points from his nieces and solidify him as the 'Cool' Uncle.

They were staring at Jaune in utter awe. Even little Ruby was shaking with excitement with a big smile. Yang on the other hand was slacked jaw but no less awed at the Arc brat, no doubt thinking him the hero after saving their lives.

Suddenly a white wave of energy cut clean through the trees in front of Qrow, who squawked and ducked to dodge the wave.

"YOU! SHOW YOURSELF FROM YOUR HIDING PLACE COWARD!"

The brat almost killed him!

Another wave of white energy cut through what was left of the trees, this time Qrow had to jump over the wave.

"ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT! I'M COMING OUT!" Qrow Shouted as he ran out into the open.

"UNCLE QROW!" Both his nieces shouted. However, the Arc brat was still glowing, holding his blade towards him.

Qrow simply sighed. "Hey there kids. How are you all doing?"

It took some time for Qrow to return the kids back to Tai's house, but when they arrived they were met with an absolutely haggard-looking Tai and the equally as worried Arc Matriarch and Patriarch.

As soon as they saw Yang, Ruby, and Jaune. Their respective parents immediately went through the usual parental steps of hugging their children, checking their injuries, asking what they were thinking that ultimately leading them into just saying 'We're just glad you are alright, never do that again.'

Of course, the children were grounded from ever leaving their homes. Yang tried to take the blame by saying how everything is her fault and that she dragged both Jaune and Ruby into the forest and that Jaune saved her and Ruby's life.

Ruby got off scot-free of course, the brat's weird parents congratulated Jaune in saving Yang, and Yang is now grounded for a month.

And that's where they are now.

"Come on Jaune let us go home. You're absolutely filthy."

"I do not need a shower. I have no reason to take one."

"Young man how many times do I have to say it. Good hygiene is important for a knight! Being dirty will never attract the ladies!"

As the trio was about to leave, yang suddenly stepped forward. "Wait!"

Jaune and his parents stopped and turned to look at the small girl. "What is it, Canoness Yang?" The brat asked.

Yang stepped close to Jaune looking… shy? "T-Thank you for saving me and Ruby…" Yang said.

The Arc brat for his part merely nodded. "Of course Canoness Yang. You are a loyal ally. Losing you now would be a devastating blow to my forces." The kid said like some military general.

Seriously this kid is not normal.

"Really! You really mean it!" Yang asked with hopeful eyes. What is she- wait…

Jaune nodded. "Yes. You are a precious ally in these dark times."

Yang seems to be hesitating about something, but before anyone could ask she suddenly shot forward and pecked Jaune on his bloodied cheek.

There was a strangled gasp from Tai, a happy squeal from the brat's mother, and Qrow may or may not spat out his drink.

Yang took a dozen steps back, blushing up a storm. "T-That's for saving us! A gift!" Yang argued, but Qrow knew better.

His little niece is having her first budding crush.

Jaune for his part seemed surprised as he rubbed the same cheek Yang kissed him.

Before anyone could say anything Yang turned and dashed into the house, Tai quickly following her while carrying a confused Ruby.

Qrow simply turned back to the Arc trio, already he is seeing the Matriarch and Patriarch showering congratulations on their son for snagging a kiss from Yang.

Qrow wisely decided to take another swing from his flask and headed inside. Already he's hearing Tai banging at yang's door while the girl remained eerily silent.

Qrow took another swing and collapsed on the couch. He'll deal with everything tomorrow.
