I marched through the corridors of the Helecarrier headed towards the control room, knowing that Max, as well as the kids, would be in that room along with the rest of the group, talking to fury about what had happened in the past few hours.

I did not mind any of the injured soldiers and directly opened the door room to hear that tail end of Fury's words about the Avengers initiative.

The look on the children's faces made me feel a type of rage I have not felt since the Null Void.

"Alright kids, pack up, we are going on a vacation, the interdimensional kind" I said as I glared at Max who was ready to retort before Ben made his opinion known.

"What! I am not going anywhere, I want to help them-"

"HELP THEM?" I shouted which immediately cowed Ben and Gwen, but then, Max started to talk.

"Alex, I think that it would be best if we stayed-" " Are you out of your mind Tennyson?" I said in a grave voice.

Was Max really this stupid?

"Hey!" the two kids started to shout only to stop as I looked them in the eye, my own eyes glowing crimson red due to my rage.

"Blacklight, I think that the kids can-" "Fury, if you continue those words I will make sure to air all of your classified info on public channels throughout the planet, and you know damned well that no amount of security on this planet can stop me from doing that"

Fury became silent as I directed my gaze back to the kids.

I hated how I felt a small amount of pride and happiness to see the determined look in both Ben and Gwent's eyes.

"No, you brought us here so that they could help us go home, so I am not going when they need my help" Ben said as Gwen nodded.

"Ben, Gwen, I know that you two have experience fighting aliens but what is about to happen is not something you should be a part of, hell, you should not be a part of things like this period, in fact, I should remove the Omnitrix from you and send it back to its creator along with a message on how pissed off I am at his recklessness," I said as I tried to plead to the kids.

I seriously don't want to see two kids who have barely entered puberty get killed, not if I can help it.

"You are not touching the watch under any circumstances!" Ben shouted as he tried to activate the device out of instinct. No doubt trying to turn into an intimidating alien to send his point across.

Only to fail to transform as the Omnitrix turned yellow and gave beeping noises before a voice spoke from it.

"Warning, Connection to Codon Stream failed, Primus unlocatable, transformation functions offline, attempting reconnection, reconnection failed, critical failure detected, Omnimatrix unable to provide 90% of its functions"

"...Just as I thought" I mumbled as I watched Ben's face morph into confusion before it was overcome with fear than rage, he glared at me and said.

"WHAT DID YOU DO?" I said nothing as I watched Gwen hold him back from trying to throttle me, even Max was now looking at me with caution as his hands inched towards that gun hidden behind his shirt.

"I did not do anything Ben, but I am not surprised that the Omnitrix has stopped functioning"

I lied, I was definitely responsible for stopping the Omnitrix from working.

I looked around the room to see that aside from Fury and Hill, the other were already out of the room.

This is good, I do not need to explain things to the kids with the possibility of Stark calling out my lie.

I motioned for the kids and Max to sit and I watched Fury take a seat himself.

"The Omnitrix functions as something similar to a computer terminal, it has a specific set of instructions and protocols where it accesses the data of an alien DNA and uses it to modify the host, hence turning him of her into an Alien, but just like any computer, it needs a database, and the database for the Omnitrix comes in the form of a planet known as Primus"

I watched as Max gave me his full attention as well as Fury, no doubt trying to see if it was viable to duplicate the process himself.

(Gwen POV)

The moment Alex started to talk about how the Omnitrix functioned, I was immediately suspicious of his words.

I knew that what he spoke was true due to how logical they sounded, but for some reason, I felt that he was lying. It was like something in me was able to detect the fact that he was hiding something.

"Primus is an artificial planet that is in fact a massive machine created by Asmuth, the creator of the Omnitrix. the native species of the planet, Voliticus Biopsis, are mosquito-like robots that travel the entire universe and collect the DNA samples of every single living creature in existence, this DNA sample is then dumped into what is known as the Codon Stream, the collection of all DNA in the Universe and the source of the Aliens that Ben turns into" He said as I felt myself nod along with Ben.

So far, I could not get the feeling that he was lying yet.

"But now that you are in this universe, I guess that the Omnitrix is no longer able to connect to the Codon Stream, thus rendering you incapable of using it"

There! I immediately sensed it, he was lying.

"You are lying!" I shouted as he looked at me with surprise before he forcefully changed his face to neutral.

"No, I am not"

"Yes you are, I can tell that you are lying, Ben, transformed into an alien when he was fighting Vilgax" I immediately followed up.

"Yes, but that must be because the portal that brought you three here was still open at that time"

I gritted my teeth in anger as I once again could tell that he was lying through his teeth,

But before i could continue pressing him for answers, the alarms rang.

"We have unauthorized departure from Bay 6"

"They found him, get our communication up whatever you have to do, I want eyes on everything, Alex, Max, if you guys want to go this is the time, because if you choose to stay, then I expect you to lend you hand in the coming fight," Fury said as he watched take off in his suit followed by one of the Quinnjets.

"I am in, even if I don't have the Omnitrix I will still try to help," Ben said as he picked up a plumber gun from one of his pockets.

"So will I," I said as I glared at Alex again as I took out another gun that I smuggled out of the RV when Grandpa was not looking.

Max looked exasperated before he too drew another gun from behind his shirt.

Fury gave a nod while Alex had a panicked look in his eyes.

Serves him right for lying.

We did not give him time to think before the three of us headed towards the RV.

Even if we did not have superpowers or alien gadgets, we will still try to save people.

After all, that is the Tennyson way.

(POV Alex)

I watched helplessly as the three got out of the room and ran towards the RV which was no doubt already being loaded into a jet to be transported to wherever they wanted.

I looked down at my arms which were trembling in worry.

"For all this power, for all this facade of a cold-hearted monster, I could still not stop a couple of kids from going to war" I mumbled as I watched Fury turn towards me with a sympathetic look.

I hated that look more than anything.

"...If what you and Max have told me about them is true, then you need to stop thinking them as little kids and more as people that are willing to protect innocents even if their lives are in danger, you need to look at them for what they are, as Heroes"

"BUT THEY ARE KIDS! THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO FIGHT IN WARS OR BE HEROES, HELL EVEN I WAS MORE WORRIED ABOUT MY GRADES AND THINKING ABOUT LIFE WHEN I WAS THEIR AGE!" I shouted but Fury did not even flinch, a testament to his training as a spy if he was unphased by the unintentional sonic attack of Echo-echo.

"And yet, they no longer have said luxury due to that alien device on Ben's hand, it was you who told me that he was destined for greatness, so act on your own words and stop trying to hinder them"

His words gave me pause as I thought back to what I knew about Ben Tennyson and Gwen Tennyson from my homeworld.

A man that was hailed as the greatest hero of all time no matter how the future changed.

A woman that was known as a strong hero in her own right, one who alongside her boyfriend became well-known Plumbers.

I sighed as I directly traveled through the Helecarrier to catch up to the Tennysons.

If they were going to insist on fighting, might as well make sure that they are fully prepared.

(Ben POV)

We ran towards the RV that was already being loaded into a massive plane, no doubt Fury had the agents do this ahead of time.

I looked down at that Omnitrix which was still glowing yellow and was out of order.

Truthfully, I am not really sure about what I am going to do to help without the Omnitrix, but I know that I will not let something like this hinder me.

In the past few days, I learned a lot about what it truly means to be a hero when I talked to Captain America and the others, of course, Alex did not know about this interaction, I am sure he would have blown a fuse if he knew. He was strangely protective of me and Gwen that way as if he did not want us to know how that world really worked.

I am no fool, I always knew that what I was doing was dangerous, not to mention fatal, but talking to the team of people that were supposed to be somewhat similar to superheroes helped me reaffirm my beliefs.

I want to help people as much as I can.

My thoughts were interrupted when the telltale signs of biomass materialized in front of us, taking the form of Alex in a matter of seconds.

No matter how many times I see it, It is still awe-inspiring and terrifying when he does that,

The tired expression on his face is something I have seen for the first time, from my side i could hear Gwen growl in frustration.

I looked at the man that I considered a good friend and dare he say, something like a big brother and said.

" I am not going to stop Alex, even if you don't stop whatever it is you are doing to the watch, I will still go and fight Loki"

I am not stupid, I knew that Alex was somehow responsible for the watch's malfunction, I would expect nothing from the man who almost went on a rampage when Gwen and I were injured during the attack on the Carrier.

I watched as a surprised expression came on his face, just like everyone else, he too must have expected me to be nothing but an idiot with a powerful weapon.

That is how everyone saw me after all, no one remembers the fact that I am only rivaled by Gwen in terms of Grades and that I excel in sports that involve strategy.

His face morphed into a tired grin as he slowly took out a strange device from his pocket.

"I figured you would not stop, so I might as well give you enough preparation to fight at your best," he said as he crushed the device

Immediately, the watch beeped.

"Connection to Codon Stream established, Omnimatrix full functionality restored, Warning, Warning, Additional signatures detected, connection rerouting"

I watched in fascination as Alex extended a tendril of biomass which enveloped the watch completely before retreating, leaving me stunned at what I saw.

The watch now had an entire list of Aliens that I never saw before.

"Connection to alternative Database detected, Codon Stream connection overridden by an administrator, temporary connection rerouting established, designation: Blacklight"

"I have temporarily given you master control as well as given you access to the DNA that I have in my body, but be careful ben, for there are some Aliens that can take over your mind if you are not strong enough," he said solemnly as I nodded.

I was not stupid enough to waste this chance.

This was a sign of trust that he extended towards me, allowing me access to the powerful aliens that no doubt would be more powerful than the ones that I already have.

And I would be damned before I wasted this sign of trust he put in me.

I watched as he walked towards Gwen who looked a bit awed as well as a bit terrified, he gently touched her forehead, what happened next was truly spectacular.

Instantly, she was enveloped in a purple glow as a strange pressure descended on everyone.

"Wow," she mumbled as she slowly stumbled back before she steadied herself.

He knelt down in front of us both and looked at us seriously.

"I am someone that has seen a lot of this, both good and bad, so listen well to what I am about to say, I see the potential for a great future in both of you, but that does not mean that you should give up on your childhood, laugh, cry and live your life like any other kid your age should, I know that you two would not hesitate to throw yourselves into danger for the sake of others, but promise me this, that you will never think of your lives as expendable, that you would not stop caring for your self, that you will not force yourself forward when you know that you cant go on"

What a stupid question, of course, we would care about ourselves, but I did not say anything, the look in his eyes was that of someone that had seen a lot of stuff, so maybe he had indeed seen someone like that in his life.

I looked at Gwen and nodded just as she did.

We will not disappoint that man that had put so much faith in us.

This is a promise.
