Nothing. Nothing!
Kylo paced glumly around his quarters. He was not satisfied at all with how the interrogation had gone down. He'd burned her again, and she still hadn't told him what he wanted! He hadn't gotten any more answers, only piercing, horrific screaming. Kylo had finally given up and knocked her unconscious, using the Force.
She'd fought as hard as she could. Kylo had taken advantage of her unconscious state to reach deep inside her mind, but he had found no memory or trace of Poe Dameron instructing BB-8 where to go. That puzzled him. The girl was Poe' sister, she'd admitted as much. She would know what happened! One thing he knew about the Resistance, they stood together. So, Poe would not have held that information from her.
Kylo didn't like this uncertainty. Even in his mind probe, he hadn't found what he was looking for. That couldn't be! He wouldn't admit it to anyone else, but Kylo Ren had a sickening feeling this girl was actually telling the truth! But that wasn't possible. She was a Resistance Rebel, and all Rebels lied during interrogation when they were captured, foolishly thinking they could possibly hold their own against his powers. But he hadn't found evidence to contradict what she'd told him. So...she must have been telling him the truth! And he wasn't sure what to do about that. What would the Supreme Leader say?
Another thing was gnawing at the young, Dark Lord. His actions. Kylo Ren felt sick to his stomach. He felt the tiniest twinge of regret for his rash violence toward Tania. She was very young, not like the old coots he had no problem eliminating. His punishment had been cruelly severe, but that was the way he operated and everybody knew it. He'd mutilated and murdered hundreds of people. What was wrong with him? He had no compassion!
Tania was as young as he had been once, when he was training under Luke. The night his uncle had tried to kill him, Kylo had fought back, to survive! The terror and horror he'd felt in his heart when he'd seen Luke standing over him with that lightsaber...Kylo had seen that same fear and mortification in Tania's eyes and in her being. He'd felt it too. So what? He'd seen it in thousands of people before he sent them to their demise. Why was he so troubled by this? He was slipping again.
He had to remember who she was: the enemy, a stupid Rebel who stood ground with everything he hated. Yes, he must focus on that! He stood tall, feeling better. She'd deserved what had happened to her. She shouldn't have brazenly insulted him, as if she knew anything about him! Yeah, she'd hit a sore spot, so he'd punished her.
Yet, he hesitated ordering an execution. It had taken either guts or plain stupidity to try sneaking in her, thinking she could save her cocky brother. Her brother...yes, her brother! That might be something he could use to his own advantage.
At that moment, he was interrupted. "Sir? I have come to report on the Resistance prisoner." Captain Phasma appeared.
"What is it?" Kylo sighed.
"Sir, the girl will not last through another interrogation." Phasma said. "It appears she's lost a lot of blood. And the diagnostic readers indicate that she is growing weaker." Kylo stood there, bristling. Well, she wasn't dead...yet. Maybe he could still turn this in their favor, with more positive results. "What shall we do with her? Do you wish for us to terminate her?"
"Put her in a cell. We need more information. We'll try again later. Make sure she does not escape." Kylo Ren said.
"Yes, sir." Phasma nodded. She marched back into the interrogation room. She ordered the troopers to unlock the bonds on the chair. Tania was passed out. The trauma she'd already been put through, plus the significant blood loss, and then the mental torture, had been too much. And after Kylo's second 'demonstration', her body was now going into shock. The troopers lifted her limp body out of the chair. One trooper carried her over his shoulder while three other followed with blasters.
They opened a cell door and marched in. The stormtrooper dropped Tania down on the cold floor, then bound her wrists in binders that were chained shortly to the floor. She would barely be able to move around, if she had the strength. "She's not going anywhere." He chuckled. They shuffled out, and closed the door, sealing it.
Tania was all alone now: beaten, alone, and...dying.
Phasma reported back to Kylo Ren. "Prisoner is secure, sir. Unconscious and sealed up tight."
"Then leave the prisoner be, but stand guard...until further orders." Kylo Ren commanded. It was easier for him to say 'the prisoner', than to admit said prisoner was a young her.
"Yes, sir. Oh, by the way, General Hux wishes me to inform you that the Supreme Leader requires your presence."
Kylo let out a breath. Maybe Hux's men were having better luck on Jakku locating the droid. He hoped so. He could use some good news.
"There it is." Poe hissed under his breath, gazing darkly out the dashboard as Kylo Ren's massive ship the Finalizer came into view. He'd just escaped that horrible flagship a day ago, hoping to never see it again, except to blow it to smithereens. Well, he would do just that...as soon as he got his sister out of there.
Poe had not been able to squelch down the twisting knot in his stomach this entire time. A thousand what-if's sailing through his mind. Tania was a smart girl. He'd taught her most of his talents, and he'd seen her practice them over and over again with mostly good results. But why, why did she have to try to bust him out, by herself, from the First Order? He hated that she'd done that, for him! She was most likely captured and being held a prisoner now! Had he told her BB-8 had the map? He couldn't remember! He hoped he hadn't.
And where was BB-8? Had they found him too? Or was he still wandering around lost on Jakku?
Poe wanted to pretend this was all a bad dream, that it wasn't real. Ordinarily, he would be driving his X-wing on this rescue mission, his speedy little beauty. But, knowing the First Order's brutality, he'd needed a ship with a small med-bay, in case Tania was...was, not in good shape. His partners, Melda Luze and Donny Paetfa, had been wise in choosing a small, run down looking cruiser ship. It had once been used for transporting jewelry, with secret compartments in the floor for added precaution. It was small and not conspicuous, and had a small infirmary with three bunks. That should work.
"You were trapped on that thing?" Melda sputtered, stunned.
"Yep." Poe sighed.
"It looks invincible." Donny gulped.
"Yeah, well it's not!" Poe growled.
"Any ideas of how we're going to get in there, undetected?"
"Not undetected. Someone's going to see us." Poe answered.
"And then what?"
"What do you think? We keep going right on in." Poe complained.
"Uhh...whatever you say, Captain. But, don't you think we'll kinda...I don't know, stand out in our Resistance wardrobe?"
"I have an idea about that. Just follow my lead." Poe said confidently. "Okay. We don't want to attract any extra, unnecessary attention. Our goal is to sneak in there, and get Tania out. Then we leave."
"What if we get caught?"
"Then we escape."
"How?"
"We'll find a way." Poe looked back at his friends. "Look, guys. I know the ship looks big, and dangerous. Because it is. But I'm not going to lose my sister. If you two want to stay with the ship and wait for us so we can escape faster, it's okay. It's not a bad idea, actually. But I'm going in."
"We're with you, Poe." Melda assured him.
"Yeah. We've got your back, buddy." Donny agreed.
"What information have you gained from the prisoner on the missing droid?" Snoke asked Kylo.
"The prisoner knows nothing. I probed her as hard as I could, but came up empty." Kylo muttered.
"I sense a lingering hesitation." Snoke said.
"She won't resist us anymore. That's impossible. She's too afraid."
"You feel she may be of some use to us, do you?"
"If I may indulge, she has excellent piloting skills. She is related to Captain Dameron, the Resistance's best pilot. If we preserve her life, I believe she will not be so foolish as to run away again. She understands now that would be suicide. She will be devoted to the cause because we kept her alive when her friends abandoned her. And...she knows where the Rebel base is, how many fighters they have, their weak spots, their plans..."
"Ahh. It is a thought." Snoke said curiously, rubbing his chin. "The Resistance, with one of their own, turned against them. They would never know what hit them. Perhaps...with a little 'persuasion', she may become a new recruit. A clever notion, my young apprentice."
"Captain Dameron will come for her, I am sure of it. It will be the perfect moment to enlighten them that their cause is futile."
"Ahh. Yes, two of the Rebels' best assets, in our hands. She will be turned against her own, with her navigational talent to our advantage. It will be a most easy trap. Very well. Do what you must to shift the tide with this new development.'" Snoke nodded in approval.
Kylo's face lit up. His leader who was always belittling him liked his idea! Finally, he had done something that pleased his master, something General Hux would never dream up! This was going to be easy! All Kylo had to do was revive Tania, and mind trick her into believing that the Resistance had abandoned her, given her up to the First Order so they could get away clean. Convince her that they didn't care about her, that Poe was dead and never coming back, and that the First Order was the only place in the galaxy where she was safe, that she could make something of herself here.
In her fragile state, it wouldn't be hard at all. She was scared to death of Kylo and his lightsaber. They would persuade her to obey if she didn't want it to happen again. They could brainwash her into feeding hate and bitterness on that pain by blaming it on the Resistance for putting her in this position and not rescuing her. If Poe came to save her, she would resent him for leaving her behind, then she would be the one to kill him, under the orders of her new 'family'.
Kylo sighed with relief. Finally, things were beginning to look up! He could hardly wait to see the look on Hux's face when he was informed of the plan.
