Chapter 11: The Last Dance/The Moment

Back in Dragon Mountain in Valka's Quarters, Toothless, Midnight, the Night Furies younglings, Henry's dragons and Cloudjumper hover for scraps while Henry and Gobber watches from the sidelines, Stoick and Valka prepare skewers of fish. She's overwhelmed, lost in her thoughts, and covering it up poorly. Hiccup and Hicca walked around the cave to gather the fishes they caught while on that 'fish flight' they caught while explaining everything about their time back on Berk more cleary to her since their dad is here.

"Seriously Mom, you'd never recognize it!" Hicca begin happily as she and her brother grab some fish in a basket as Toothless and Midnight tries to snap some.

"Yeah! Where we used to make weapons, we now build saddles, wing slings - we even fix dragon teeth!" Hiccup added with a smile as he closed the basket before Toothless and Midnight grabs a fish.

"You wouldn't believe how much everything's change!" Hicca finished as she brought the fishes she got to the Night Furies younglings to eat as Hiccup brought his to their mother.

Valka offers a skittish half-smile and hands Hiccup a plate.

"Your kids changed Berk for the better. I think we did well with this one, Val." Stoick said with a smile to his wife and to his kids.

"Thanks, Dad." The Haddock Twins said with a smile from their dad's word.

Stoick places his hands on Valka's shoulders. She flinches, dropping the plate.

Cloudjumper steals the fish before Toothless and Midnight can get to it. Toothless and Midnight whimpers, and as a sign of acceptance, Cloudjumper regurgitates the fish so Toothless and Midnight can have some. The two night furies share half of the fishes as they ate them with a gulp. And smiles at Cloudjumper in thanking him for the fishes he gave to them.

"I'm... a little out of practice." Valka said it was embarrassing since it has been a long time since she did anything social back in Berk.

"Well, y'know... I didn't marry you for your cooking." Stoick said sweetly to his wife, he doesn't care if Valka lost some skills, he was just glad to see her again.

"I hope not." Gobber said to the Haddock Twins, Henry and Grump. "Her meatballs could kill more beasts than a battle axe." he said to the group as he patted his belly. "I've still got a few knocking around in here. Ha ha!" he added as he took a bite, gags, and dumped the entire plate of fish skewers into Grump's mouth like a trash can.

Henry snicker at him. "Sorry Gobber, but sometimes people tend to lose their talents over time." he said to him as he brought some fish to his dragons as they enjoyed them with a smile.

"Ain't that the truth." Hicca agreed.

"And once you move back in, with all of your dragons, Drago won't even stand a chance. Everything will be okay!" Hiccup cheered if knowing with this much dragons, Drago will call off the attacks.

Stoick can see that Valka is overwhelmed. He lays a hand upon Hiccup's shoulder, calming him. "Slow down, son. It's a lot to take in." he said to him in letting him know about his mother.

"Oh. Gotcha." Hiccup said now knowing there is so much to their mother as it is now.

Valka crosses the room to fill a flask with water, back turned to the group, as Stoick eyes her sympathetically. He decides on a different approach... and whistles a familiar tune.

"Oh, I love this one!" Gobber cheered as he recognized that tune with a smile as the Haddock Twins and Henry are confuse since they've never heard this before.

Stoick approaches Valka delicately. "Remember our song, Val?" he whisper to her.

Hiccup and Hicca watches him, curious, as Stoick fumbles through the first verse of an old Viking courting song:

Stoick begins to sing. "I'll swim and sail on savage seas, with ne'er a fear of drowning. And gladly ride the waves of life, if you will marry me." he sang to her as Valka avoids his gaze, wallowing in a mess of emotions.

Stoick continues. "No scorching sun, nor freezing cold WILL -" he was cut off when gobber interrupted.

"- will stop me on my journey!" Gobber sang and then catches Stoick glaring at him for interrupting. "Sorry." he said in embarrass.

Stoick scowls at him, then returns his attention to Valka as he continues singing. "If you will promise me your heart…" he paused, setting Valka up for her part of the duet. "And love…" he stopped.

Stoick hangs eagerly, awaiting her words, but Valka closes her eyes, rejecting his invitation. He lets out a heavy-hearted sigh. But nostalgia gets the better of Valka. She softly sings her part of the song as she remembers the rest.

"And love me for eternity." Valka sang as Stoick beams. She brushes past him, setting into the center of the chamber and holding her forearm aloft in invitation. Stoick crosses his forearm against hers, initiating a beautiful dance to accompany the song. "My dearest one, my darling dear, you mighty words astound me. But I've no need of mighty deeds, when I feel your arms around me." she sang.

The dance is full of charming missteps as Stoick and Valka recreate a moment from their past, before Hiccup's wonder-struck eyes.

"But I would bring you rings of gold. I'd even sing you poetry." Stoick sang. "And I would keep you from all harm, if you'd stay here beside me." he added.

"I have no use for rings of gold." Valka started singing again. "I care not for your poetry. I only want your hand to hold. I only want you near me."

Gobber can't help himself. "C'mon Hiccup!" He drags Hiccup onto his feet so that he can join in the dancing, too.

Henry and Hicca looked at each other, a little embarrassed on not gonna dance together, so Hicca pointed his head and guided Henry out of the cave while no one was noticing while they danced. Unknown to them, Nightshade followed them out to see what they are up to.

Stoick, Valka and Gobber sing together. "To love and kiss, to sweetly hold. For the dancing and the dreaming. Through all life's sorrows and delights, I'll keep your love inside me." they sang as Hiccup is amazed by the sight of his giddy parents, spinning and laughing in each others' arms, reunited. "I'll swim and sail through savage seas, with ne'er a fear of drowning. And gladly ride the waves of life, if you will marry me!" they finished.

Gobber carried out the last note that made Hiccup feel weird. "GOBBER!" Hiccup yelled.

"I'm still going…" Gobber said in a singing voice as Hiccup tap him.

"Gobber!" Hiccup yelled again as Gobber let him go.

"I'm done." Gobber said.

Valka and Stoick slow to a stop, winded and laughing. "Ah... I thought I'd have to die before we'd have that dance again." Stoick told his wife as he thought she was dead for too long, he was going to die first if she was in Valhalla when she was first kidnapped.

"No need for drastic measures." Valka told him in not doing so.

"For you, my dear... anything." Stoick told her as Valka smiles sweetly. Stoick's eyes well with tears. He goes down on one knee, proposing to her anew. "Will you come home, Val? Will you be my wife once again?" he asked her.

Toothless and Midnight nudges Valka closer to Stoick, as a hint for her to say yes since the two Night Furies adults are also a married couple. They laugh as Hiccup joins them. Stoick throws his arm around him.

"We can be a family! What do you say?" Stoick asked her again.

Valka, between tears and laughter, turns to Hiccup. "Yes!" she called out in happiness as she will go home together as one big family again.

Gobber pops his head in. "Great! I'll do the cooking!" he said to them as he will make the food this time and maybe teach Valka how to cook again.

In that word, the group all laugh together.

"Thank Odin you and your sister didn't listen to me, son." Stoick said to Hiccup. "We never would have found each other. Where is Hicca and Henry anyway?" he asked as they realizes that Hicca and Henry are missing, and not to mention they are down one Night Fury younglings.

"Maybe they are out to see the dragons." Hiccup suggested.

Suddenly, Toothless, Midnight, Henry's dragons and Cloudjumper suddenly perk up, sensing something unheard, and for some reason the Night Furies younglings didn't feel perk up as the other dragons. Hiccup notices.

"Toothless? Midnight?" Hiccup asked the two adults Night Furies as Dragons swarm past Valka's chamber, racing toward some unknown disturbance. "What's happening?" he asked.

They're answered by subsequent heavy booms that reverberate through the fortress. Henry, Hicca and Nightshade race towards them.

"Guys! We got a problem! Something is attacking the nest!" Hicca announce as their eyes widen in shock on what is going on as Valka rushed out to find out.

Moments before the boom and after Henry and Hicca left the sining dance thing. Hicca showed Henry around the nest of the sight of the dragons her mother have rescued over the years more clearly.

"Wow. This is what your mother did over the years?" Henry asked in shock awed.

"Yes she did. Now you know where me and my brother got our instincts to help dragons from." Hicca said with a playful smile.

They both laugh at that as they looked around. Seeing dragons having a nice time as they flew around or feeding their hatchlings of the food they have catch. Seeing this made Henry left out, having a sad expressing. He is remembering his time with his father Viggo, before he started the dragon hunters, they have a laugh, spend quality time together, and even have fun with his uncle Ryker when they have the time they had. But since Viggo started the dragon hunters, Henry knew his father and uncle had gone too far, and that lead to him escaping with his five dragons and meeting Berk and the dragon riders in the process. At those times, he grow a bond with the riders, mostly Hicca and their dragons. He help them fight the hunters and the flyers to stop his father's empire. And then when he heard that his father have a change of heart and sacrifice himself for the riders and the dragons to escape, and his uncle got eaten by a sumberipper, he feels like he has lost the family he once had and knew.

Hicca saw his sad expression and knowing what it is. She came closer to her. "I know you miss your uncle and family, but you gotta know that they will always be with you."

"The good or bad?" Henry said in a sad sarcastic tone.

"I doen't matter if they were good or bad. And don't worry, your with us now." Hicca pointed out gently.

Henry sigh. "I know, but it's hard to move on. It wasn't that too long ago that we stop the hunters and flyers, but I still feel empty inside. You and Hiccup have found the piece you two need of the whole family. While mine is… gone." Henry said as he sat down near the edge looking at the dragon nest. "I know, my uncle got what he deserve. And my father had a change a heart in the last minute before he go to Valhalla for you and your bother to escape. So, what part of me is missing?' he asked as he looked at the view of the nest.

Hicca sat next to him and place her hands on top of her. "When me and Hiccup never met our mother, we didn't know who we are since we are not like our father. It took us years to find who we are. And for us to never forget our mother, her memories are kept with us and the gifts she left before she disappeared." she stated as Henry looked at her. "But when we found, her, and when we flew together, it's like me and Hiccup found something that we didn't know we lost. And realizes that all of our skills and personalities came from her. Meaning that whatever happens to her, she will always be there for us. Like your father having a change of heart to not hurt dragons anymore and taking risks to help others to be safe." she said as she and Henry look at each other.

"Yeah. I'm starting to think what you mean, my father is me." Henry stated. "He was always part of me, dragon hunter or not, he was always their for me before I ran away. And he risks his life so that you four should escape, and told you to tell me to stay safe and take care of each other. And giving me this picture of me and him along with my uncle before he was gone." he added as he pull out the picture him, his uncle and father that his father gave Hicca and Hiccup for him to give to his son before his last stand.

"He may be gone, but he will always be there are you right here, Henry." Hicca stated as she put her hand on Henry's chest where his heart should be. "And you got us now as a family. Your dragons, Berk, the riders…" she pause for a second as she finished. "Me." she added as she and Henry looked at each other.

They both look loving at each other as they inch their faces closer as they close their eyes as their lips came closer. Before they could kiss, they heard dragon laughter behind them. They were startled as they see Nightshade watching the whole thing, laughing at them in ruining their moment.

"Nightshade! Seriously!?" Hicca asked in embarrass and in rage for the Night Fury youngling for ruining their moment.

"You just have to mess things up! Didn't you?!" Henry yelled as both he and Hicca were blushing as Nightshade continues his laughter.

And then suddenly, the dragons of the nest started flying towards the same directions they are heading, which makes Hicca, Henry and even Nightshade confuses on what is happen.

"What's going on?" Henry asked Hicca.

"I don't know. This is new." Hicca shrugs until they heard a sudden boom on the other side of the nest. They were shook that it even made Nightshade feel uncomfortable. "What the heck was that?!" she asked in.

"I don't know. But I think we're under attack if the dragons can sense it!" Henry stated as he and Hicca got up and ran back to Valka's quarters, where they found the group standing where they are seeing the dragons.

"Guys! We got a problem! Something is attacking the nest!" Hicca announce as their eyes widen in shock on what is going on as Valka rushed out.

They others followed, before the Night Furies could follow, the two adult ones turned to their childrens, stopping them in their tracks.

'You five stay here and out of danger.' Midnight wabled at them in a stern roar.

'Oh come on Mom and Dad! We've been doing this for years!' Shadow wabled out in protest.

'Yes, but we just got this family together again. And we're not gonna lose you five.' Toothless wabled to them. 'Besides, this isn't an adventure, this is Drago Bludvist! And not to mention Darkie can't fly without a tail fin. Under no circumstances for you five to leave this room. Do you kids understand?' he asked his kids.

'Yes mom and dad.' The five night furies wabled in defeat of their parents orders.

'Good. Stay here and wait until this is over. We'll be back for you five when this is over. And if things go down south, stay with the other dragon younglings and keep Darkie safe.' Midnight wabled to them as she and Toothless they nuzzles their kids before catching up with the others

Outside in an open cave, Valka rushed out and sees Drago's Armada in the lagoon below and his forces of thousands now landed upon the beach.

They launch catapults and ballistas into the icy spires, gaining entrance into the mountain's tunnels.

The Haddock Twins, Stoick, Henry and Gobber catches up to Valka and saw Drago's army where they are standing.

"Oh, no…" Hiccup said in horror.

"That guy really knows how to make an army over time." Hicca added with shock.

"That guy can sure can give my dad and the Dragon Hunters a challenge against his armada." Henry comment in knowing that his father wouldn't go that far in building an army together to take control of something.

Valka tries to hurry off, fuming. Stoick stops her.

"Val! It's all right, it's all right. We're a team now." Stoick reasons his wife in stating they are in this together. "Now what do you want to do?" he asked her in a beat tone in ready for anything.

"We have to save the dragons." Valka stated in a serious voice.

Stoick became determined to his wife's voice. "Aye. You got it!" He throws his arms around Hiccup and Hicca. "Come on, kids." he said to them as they rushes to their dragons.

Hiccup and Hicca looked at each other. "You ready, sis?" he asked his sister with a smile.

"You know it, bro." Hicca stated with a determined smile as they both nodded. They both put on their helmets their father give them back early and put them down to seal their face. Ready to fight for the dragons and stop Drago.
