I promised this, in the comments to Lady_Kaye on Wednesday, but I forgot things like Zoom classes I need to show up for exist so it's here now instead!
Thank you to everyone reading! This is a short chapter, but I thought it was a fun place to stop, so I will just have to update soon!
"I would be delighted." With a half bow Lucius turned towards the stairs. Harry did not miss the flick he gave of his wand that resulted in the pressure of magical energy that had been hovering over the door dropping.
With a worried look at the door behind him, he really had no choice but to leave Sirius behind, Harry made his way to tell Kreacher to make a dinner that would fit all members of the household, but leave plenty of room to talk.
LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE
It took three hours for Sirius and Dumbledore to finish their… little chat. Dumbledore looked a little ragged, although still puffed up to his most magnanimously powerful and kindly degree, as he made his way out the door. He pushed as much cheer as he could into his exhausted goodbye's and as the door closed behind him the house itself felt lighter.
One might be curious as to his state, until they looked at the door into the common room. Sirius was there. Hands clenched on either side of the door frame until his knuckles were white. He was a heaving mess of sweat and anger. His hair spilled over his shoulders and stuck to his face as he took deep shaky breaths. He was shaking, with ire dripping from his eyes, and chaotic energy surrounding him. Lucius decided it would be worth it to be late to dinner and did not try to continue down the steps. Harry looked at his Godfather, he was filled with pride and wonder at Sirius's control and a desire to see him lose that control, but childish impulses aside he needed to help Siri now. He walked slowly and carefully up to Sirius, doing his best not to surprise him. He wrapped a hand around the arm closest to him. "We should have an amazing dinner waiting for us, it's time to eat Siri." Sirius seemed locked in place. "We all would do better with some food in us, let's go." Harry spoke sharply and gave a tug to the arm he was hanging on. Sirius slowly breathed out until there was no more rage to hold him up. For every breath that left his body his frame shrunk into itself.
"You're right Pup, let's go" Sirius leaned most of his weight on to Harry as they made their way to sit. Only once they were truly out of sight did Lucius start down again. 'How is it that it is Dumbledore the Dark Lord is afraid of? He has not felt true fear yet and I will not be in the way when he does.'
Lucius walked into the dining room as Sirius slumped over onto Harry. It was quite apparent that Sirius had no inclination to stop touching Harry and although some part of Lucius was desperate to get the other man off of him, no part of him was strong enough to do that after what he had just borne witness to. Harry gave him a nod of welcome and clapped his hands twice to call forth Kreature. In a surprisingly courtly manner the elf brought in the meal of Spaghetti Bolognese and left with a bow and a quiet pop.
The peaceful dinner lasted for all of three bites before Harry glanced up from his plate and stared at Lucius as if he could see through him. He was not a Gryffindor for nothing. Besides, why ruin a peaceful day with unpleasant topics when you can pile them all into one day?
"Since we are all together there are two obvious topics we must discuss. One of which is what Dumbledore had to say after he had me leave the room…" Sirius tensed and Slytherin pride be damned if he had made a move to get up Lucius would have run. "But that obviously is still a bit too fresh so instead we will have to start with you Lucy-Dear." Lucius felt himself tense up and got ready to fight over the disrespect from being called Lucy, but that "Dear" that came right after melted all of his righteous indignation away. Instead he settled for questioningly arching his brow at Harry and in all of the manners befitting a Pure-Blood Lord he brought his next bite to his mouth. It was a mistake.
"So, we all are in agreement that Dumbledore is full of absolute bullshit, right?" Lucius inhaled his bite and started to choke. The corners of Harry's eyes started to crinkle as he held in all of his joy. Lucius could swear that Harry's eyes were dancing, but Harry's face still was calm and spoke of the seriousness of his question, no matter how it was phrased. Sirius was no help. He had looked up just in time to see Lucius choke and was laughing so hard on Harry's shoulder that he couldn't breathe. His face was turning purple and Lucius started to wonder if he would actually pass out. Harry gave Sirius a bap on the back of his head and Sirius remembered how to breathe again.
Harry continued to look back at Lucius calmly. "Right, what do you know about my inheritance?"
Sirius froze as much as he could with the passing chuckle still making its way down his body.
"I do not know what you thought I heard/" Lucius started calmly.
"I think you heard whatever the spell Koakas lets you hear and I am sure it was everything. So what do you think you can add to our pot of knowledge?"
Lucius sits up straight and wipes his mouth. "Well, whether or not I heard anything I know that Dumbledore will say whatever it takes to stay in charge and I know that whatever he might have said about your inheritance was a lie"
Harry gave Lucius an amused once over. "So, nothing new. At least you're pretty." Harry had no idea what drove him to throw in that last part, or what drove him to toss Lucius a wink as well, but the startled look and faint blush he got in return was well worth the confusion.
Harry straightened and a pained look crossed his face. "Sirius," Harry tossed him a look before shifting his gaze to the table. Looking him in the face right now seemed like it would take too much out of him. "Siri, what did he want to talk to you about alone?"
Sirius cast a broken look down at the table. "You don't want to know." Some light returned to Harry's eyes and a playful smile teased at his lips.
"That is the one thing you could say that would insure I want to know more than anything."
Sirius cast a dead look at both Harry and Lucius. Lucius prepared to run. "He told me he was going to take you away from me. Forever."
