Chapter 11

Angel had everyone sitting in on a group meeting for those who helped him out mostly at night. He also had a friend of his come back named Charles Gunn. Charles had decided to come back since where he was didn't work out. Cara gave Angel her books, so he could read through them. He was impressed on how it translated the information better giving him more detail.

"Can I borrow this?" Angel asked her.

"I'm in no rush to get it back," Cara said nicely.

Wes looked at the other book reading through it. Cara started to feel a little tired feeling like her brain was on overload. "Any other suggestions on this other guy we're after?" Angel asked everyone.

Cara raised her hand and Angel let her speak "My brother texted me saying he saw him walking around in daylight, so he is a day walker."

Harmony knocked at the door "Excuse me, Cara can I talk to you for a second." She asked her.

Spike noticed she looked tired but kept going. "I'll be right back." Cara said getting up leaving the room.

"Alright what is it?" She asked her.

"That guy I said I thought I liked well he's not like the other vampires he's different." Harmony explained.

"There is a guy are looking for he's tall, short brown hair. If it's who I think it is, you didn't tell him where you work?" Cara questioned her.

"No."

"You need to stay as far away from him as you can. He will kill anyone that will get in his way," she advised her.

"Right, I will, I just didn't know how to tell them. They would flip out," Harmony said worried.

"Doesn't matter who tells them, they flip out anyway."

"Can you not tell them right now?" Harmony asked her.

"They need to know." Cara advised her.

"Just let me tell them." Cara walked back into the office sitting next to Spike on the couch. When Angel was done lecturing everyone was free to go.

"Everything alright love?" Spike looked at her slightly concerned.

"More tired than anything." She looked at him. Cara's phone rang seeing it was her cue for something. "Yeah?" She sat there on the phone listening. After a good few minutes she hung up.

"I'll be back, they are sending me out on foot work. A guy is going crazy, he shot a couple of people and is about to threaten to blow his own head off. I'll be back." She said leaving.

"That girl has no fear," Angel looked at Spike.

"It seems like it, she's not like Buffy," Spike looked at him.

"No, she's not. She didn't have friends like Buffy did to support her." Angel explained.

"Caraline did it all on her own, I admire her independence. It doesn't make me want to stop protecting her. If something happened to her I don't know if I could live with myself," Spike said not wanting to think about it.

"I think you would be fine."

"There's more to it when you find the one mate. It's not like you just dated someone and then broke up hurt. It's the person you're meant to be destined with." Spike explained.

"You believe that?" Angel questioned him.

"I've done research on our kind it exists. The question is how bad do you want to find the one?"

Cara came back within the hour to the office. She set her stuff down while Spike came to her desk seeing her sitting down. "Can I just snuggle up to you and fall asleep?" She looked at him.

"I'd love to." he kissed the top of her head. "You feel a little warm." Cara pulled out some tylenol taking a couple of pills with water.

"You need to rest." Angel was walking their direction.

"She's not well, shes got a little bit of a tempreture." Angel had her go to his place connected to the building. There was a guest room in his place.

"You're the first person to sleep in there," Angel looked at her.

"Thanks," Cara looked at him. They made it to the guest room and she took her shoes off and pulled the bed down getting into it. She could smell the detergent on the sheets noticing they must have been just washed. "I got extra clothes in my bag in the office," Cara replied

"I will get them soon." Spike held her while she laid there. The rest of the day she rested and stayed in bed. Spike left the room to grab her stuff from the office. Angel came in and sat with her for a minute.

"Your tempreture didn't go up," Angel said checking it with a head thermometer.

"Thanks for letting me crash here," Cara said nicely.

"You're different, Spike and I decided that we would protect any slayer that came our way," Angel looked at her.

"Spike told me all about it," she yawned.

"There's not many people in my office that know me outside of work like you do. I want you to know I do care about you. You're not alone in this," he assured her.

"Thanks," Cara said appreciating that. Spike came back into the room and Angel decided to let them be alone.

"I don't feel any different," She looked at him.

Spike felt her head noticing she felt the same. He held on to her snuggling up to her facing her direction. "Thank you for what you did for me," he said looking at her.

"Hey it's not a big deal, I'd do it again if I had to." He smiled at that loving that she was so sweet and kind. It was something he had never experienced with his previous encounters with women before.

"You are one of a kind pet."

"There's good women out there besides me, you just have to be picky."

"Not too many," he said trying to remember.

"Not too many? Why does that sound like a typical stereo typical answer to me?" She asked him.

"It's the truth, I've looked you know." She sat up getting a little more comfortable.

"You're such a butthead. No you didn't."

"I'm a what?"

"You heard me."

"I found you didn't I?" He looked at her holding her hands.

"I don't count." His hand brushed along her face moving her hair out of the way. This silly debate didn't seem to phase him at all.

"Yes, you do, because you're the woman I fell in love with." Cara knew he had a way with words.

"You're such a sweetheart," Cara held him. She dosed off while holding him. Spike held her most of the time unless he had to get up. He loved holding her and watching her sleep in his arms.

A couple hours later, she woke up feeling better. Spike must have gotten up seeing he wasn't there. She grabbed the thermometer taking her temperature thankfully it was normal. Cara did remember periodically she would get there weird temperatures spike ups sometimes. To her, it seemed like it was one of many. She heard both Angel and Spike talking out front. It didn't seem like anything too important except for them being concerned about protecting her.

Cara walked in the room and both men looked up at her. "How you feeling?" Angel asked her.

"Fine now I get these weird temperature flare ups sometimes," she said stretching.

"You ok to go home?" Spike asked her.

"Yeah, thanks Angel," she said nicely. They hugged briefly as they headed out the door. Angel started to see her like more than just an employee but a close friend. He didn't have many that he felt close to besides Wes.

Both Spike and Cara made it to the apartment. She opened the door with Spike following behind shutting the door.

Cara stopped waking looking like she had something to say. "Spike, why don't you just stay with me? I know you have a place and all. I just thought I'd ask you," she offered.

"You really want me to stay here with you?" He asked her.

"If you want to, I'm not going to force you. Unless you get sick of me and I get on your nerves or something." Spike appreciated her for thinking of him.

"I'll stay here with you," he said holding her. They both sat down on the couch to talk.

"I read about you in the book Wes had, he wanted me to get to know you a little more. I am aware of what you did to people, the things you went through. Him and Angel both explained it to me. They felt I had a right to know especially since I'm around you all the time," She explained.

"I'm not proud of it, I've had a long time to deal with it and move on from it. Sometimes, it haunts me reminding me of what a monster I was," he explained.

"You can't dwell on the past but as long as you learned from it you can move on. I've known you for almost two and a half years now. I'm well aware of what you're capable of by now. I don't know what happened as far as Dru or Buffy or whoever you tried being with. I do know that I love you for the man you are now, the past doesn't matter anymore. I never thought I could love anyone again and it was because of you who shown me that. I don't think I'm perfect because I am way beyond that. If Buffy was the one who helped you be who you are now then I thank her for that. You're now the man that you want to be"

Spike looked at her not sure what to say. Tears of emotion and happiness filled his eyes. She knew he wasn't much of the crying type but what she said really seemed to hit him. He leaned in kissing her lips, she feeling his tears while they kissed. They were tears of happiness as he kissed her. He pulled back wiping his eyes not sure what to say.

Cara kissed him deeply wrapping her arms around his neck. They continued kissing until Spike lifted her up carrying her to the bedroom. He got on top of her kissing her once again. Things started to get more intense, clothes started to fall to the ground as they stripped down to nothing. He was on top kissing her while he was inside her thrusting at a steady pace. Spike was able to express what he felt through their intimate moments.

She would whisper things in his ear while they made love. "You can be a bad boy in bed." Cara looked at at him feeling nothing but lust. He looked at her wanting to fulfill her every need and desire. Their love making consisted of doing things to make sure their needs were met. Spike helped her find her release multiple times. Somehow, she was able to help him find his twice this time.

They both eventually fell asleep needing the rest for the next day to arrive. The night seem to come and go as usual. Both of them had got up getting ready to go to the office.

When they arrived, they came in the back door. Harmony caught up to them giving Cara a file that someone had dropped off. She read through it finding another death that must have occurred last night.

"Got another one for ya, it happened last night not too far from here. I'm sure as hell not sure what they thin they are going to find out of this," She set it on Angel's desk in front of him.

"Have you figured anything with what's going on with me?" Angel asked her.

"It's on the list of things to do."

Spike listened to them talk standing off to the side. Her brother came into his office seeing her talking to Angel. "Hey guys."

"Derek," Spike looked at him.

"Hey, did you take my small music player?" He asked Cara.

"Nope, haven't seen it." Spike walked up to her seeing Derek and Angel were in a conversation.

"What you said to me last night means a lot of me. I'm glad to have you in my life love," Spike said thinking of her words.

"You don't have to feel alone anymore," she took a step closer to him.

"I don't with you by my side."
