Chapter 9: Cat Noir
Prince Adrien quietly slipped out of the window and climbed to the ground. He started running towards the stables where Captain Nino was waiting, but before he could get there, one of the guards (whom he had affectionately nicknamed "Gorilla" as he looked so much like one) stepped right in front of him, and he had to stop so he wouldn't crash into him.
"Adrien," he heard Nathalie- his father's personal assistant- say reproachfully.
He sighed, and followed her back into the castle.
Nathalie brought him to the throne room where the king sat, staring emotionlessly down at him from his ornate throne.
"Adrien, how many times do I have to tell you. You are not allowed out without my express permission," said his father.
"Every single other young man in the castle is out there hunting right now! Why can't I ever join them, even just once?" Adrien asked, feeling upset. He was never allowed to do anything!
"You are not like everyone else. You are my son, and will do as I tell you!" Gabriel demanded angrily.
Adrien glared fiercely at him, but he knew that his father would never relent. He sighed, and followed Nathalie back up to his room.
"Your Chinese tutor is-" Nathalie was abruptly cut off by Adrien slamming the door in her face.
Adrien sat with his back against the door dejectedly. He was almost an adult, for goodness's sake! Would his father ever let him do anything that he wanted to do? He sighed, and put his head in his hands.
Suddenly, he jerked upright as he saw a flash of green light and something black shoot out of the silver ring- wait, what?! It was black now, with something bright green on it- that he had gotten from his grandfather. It was... a little person... with cat ears and a tail?!
"Whoa! Are you a genie, like the one in the lamp?" He asked as the creature zoomed around his bedroom, trying to eat stuff.
"Nah, I met him once, he grants wishes, so what? I'm much more interesting. You could say that I'm your 'fairy godfather'" -the creature rolled its eyes at this- "or that's what Tikki says to say," he snorted.
"So, what can you do, uh..." Adrien trailed off, not knowing the 'kwami's' name.
"The name's Plagg. As for what I can do, I'm just gonna show you. But first, I need cheese! Camembert, if you've got it. Doing magic makes me so hungry!" He was told
Before Adrien could answer (or mention the fact that the Kwami hadn't done any magic yet), he heard a knock on the door. He couldn't let Nathalie or his father find out about this, or Plagg would be gone before he could blink! "Who is it?" He asked nervously.
"It's just me, bro..." he heard Nino say. "I'm really sorry about what happened. Your father's so harsh, dude!"
"Nino! Come in!" Adrien said as he opened the door for his best friend.
After introducing Nino and Plagg, he asked the Kwami: "can you get me out of here for a couple of hours? I can't even remember the last time my father let me go outside of the castle grounds."
Plagg was so horrified that he actually shut up about his "beautiful Camembert" and stared at Adrien, open-mouthed. "Yes kid, I can do that. Ooh, I'm gonna make you a disguise!" He finally told Adrien. "Also, can you get me that Camembert now?" He added as an afterthought.
Thus Cat Noir was born. After that day, whenever Adrien was feeling particularly trapped, he'd have Plagg transform him, and he and Nino would go off and do something fun. They did this for years, until one day everything changed when they decided to go explore the forest near the edge of the kingdom, and Nino ran off after a bolting horse...
A/N: Next chapter is the forest scene! Eee! I can't wait... but you guys are gonna have to! It's (so far) the most amazing (I think so, anyways) and longest scene I've written, so you'll have to wait! It's gonna be your Christmas present from me :) besides, good things are worth waiting for! Don't hate me, please! I know that it's pretty late for me to be posting, but it's my namesday today, so I just wanted to post the last chapter before Christmas now. Thanks for reading, review, follow and/or favorite please!
