Chapter 19

"Tori? What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to tell you that this is your son."

"My, what?" Beck asked, not believing what he had just heard.

"He's your son."

"Haha, very funny."

"Beck, I'm not kidding."

"Beck, who's at the door?" Jade called out from behind him.

"Tori, you need to leave." Beck started trying to close the door, but Tori put her foot in the way. When Jade started walking towards to door after not getting a response from Beck, he knew shit was about to happen.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" Jade demanded, now standing behind Beck and in full view of Tori.

"I could ask you the same thing." Tori gave, lamely.

"I live here. With my husband. Now, I'm going to ask you again. What the fuck are you doing here?"

"I came to tell your husband that he has a son."

"What?"

"My son, Kai Tristian Vega, is your son, Beck." Tori affirmed, shifting the young boy in her arms.

"Where's the proof? How do we know you're not lying?" Jade wasn't convinced.

"Why would I lie?"

"Why wouldn't you?"

"I'm not lying, Beck. You have to believe me." Tori trained her attention back on Beck, ignoring Jade.

"Beck, don't listen to her." Jade demanded, looking over at her husband.

"I don't know what to believe. Tori, I think you should leave for now. I'll call you when I have time to process this."

"I'm not lying to you, Beck. Kai is your son."

"I'm not saying you're lying, but I need you to leave."

Luckily for everyone, without further argument, Tori left.

Beck and Jade slowly retreated back into the living, and were met with questioning looks from Cat and Andre.

"What happened?" Cat asked.

"Tori just showed up with a little boy whom she claims is my kid." Beck explained simply.

"She's joking, right?" Andre asked, not believing it either.

"It didn't seem like it. I guess she's either lying or telling the truth, but she definitely wasn't joking."

"What are you guys gonna do?"

"Right now, Jade and I are gonna talk about this. I know it's still kinda earlier, but I think it would just be best if you and Andre leave."

"Ok, if that's what you need, we can go. Do you want us to watch Ellie for the night so you guys can figure everything out?"

"Um, yeah, that'd be great. I'll go get her bag." Jade quickly went to Giselle's room, leaving everyone else in the living rooms.

"When's the last time you saw Tori?" Andre asked Beck.

"At the wrap party of the movie we did together."

"Why did you guys even break up in the first place?"

"She was mad that I wouldn't tell her what Jade meant when she said something about 'leaving her at the hospital.' She said that if we were dating, there should be no secrets between us. I was tired of her manipulation and entitlement. That and I was cheating on her and saw no point in us staying together."

"You cheated on her!"

"Yeah, with Willow. Willow and I had been seeing each other for about a month before Tori and I broke up."

"Why did you cheat on her?"

"Because I wasn't happy, but I knew she would guilt trip me into staying with her if I suggested breaking up. She'd bring up how horribly she was treated by Jade and make me feel guilty enough to stay with her. Willow made me happy in the ways Tori couldn't."

"Did you ever tell Tori?"

"No. We broke up before I had the chance. I don't plan on telling her now, either. There's not really any point. Willow and I broke up almost 2 years ago. Tori and I broke up almost 2 and a half years ago. There's no point in dwelling on the past."

"Do you think there's any chance she cheated on you and that's how she has a kid?"

"I'm hoping that's the case. I can't deal with anymore drama, and I sure as hell cannot deal with having to raise a kid with Tori Vega."

"But what if he is your son?"

"I don't know yet. That's what Jade and I need to talk about."

A few moments later, Jade reappeared with Giselle in one arm and a mini backpack in the other.

"Here's her bag. It should have everything she needs." Jade said, handing the bag to Cat.

"Ok. We'll have so much fun, Ellie." Cat tickled the toddler, and then reached her arms out to take her. As if Giselle knew where she was going, she snuggled into her mother's chest and hid her face.

"C'mon, baby. You've gotta go with Auntie Kitty. She'll bring you back tomorrow, I promise."

Giselle whined in response.

"Princess, it's just for tonight. You're gonna have lots of fun." Beck jumped in.

"Give daddy a hug. It's time to go." Jade passed Giselle off to Beck. Luckily for everyone, Giselle relented and hugged Beck, and then hugged Jade.

Within a few minutes, Beck and Jade were left alone in the apartment.

"So, what are we gonna do?" Jade asked, looking at Beck as they sat down together in the living room.

"I don't know. I haven't exactly done this before." Beck responded, running his hand through his hair, an obvious tell of anxiousness.

"Neither have I. This is part of the reason I never wanted to tell Austin that Giselle is biologically his. It would become a huge mess."

"I don't know what to do, Jade. What if he is mine?"

"Then you have to decide if you are ready to be his dad. If you aren't, then we go back to our lives. If you are, then we work out a custody agreement."

"Would you be ok if I decided I want to be in his life?"

"I'd get over it eventually. I hate Tori, but I love you, and I'd learn to love your son, because he's half you."

"And what about Ellie? How're we supposed to tell her about all of this?"

"Right now, we don't. Right now, we need to talk to Tori and get a DNA test to make sure this kid is yours. If he is, we'll go from there. If he's not, then Tori goes back to whatever hole she crawled out of and our life goes back to normal."

"If he is, are you gonna get along with Tori?"

"Who the hell do you think I am? Tori's a bitch and there is no way I'm gonna get along with her."

"Jade. If she's the mother of my kid, you can't just avoid her. It's not like we're just dating anymore and we don't see each other all the time. We're married with a kid and another one on the way."

"Right now, we don't even know if he's yours, so can we stop talking about this like he is?"

"Fine, how about we go over to Tori's and talk to her?"

Jade looked down at her phone and saw it was almost 9.

"The kid's probably asleep. Do you think she'll let us come over?"

"I don't know, but we can at least ask." Beck responded, finding Tori's number in his phone and pressing the call button.

The phone rang a few times before Tori picked it up. She and Beck shared a short conversation before Beck hung up.

"She said we can come over, but Kai will be asleep. Do you wanna go?"

"Yeah, let's go."

The couple quickly left and made their way to Tori's apartment in West Hollywood.

"Hey, Beck." Tori said, opening the door when Beck knocked. Beck gave a tight-lipped smile in response, and made his way in when Tori stepped aside.

"So, Jade and I were talking, and we decided that I should take a DNA test before anything happens." Beck spoke, sitting down next to Jade and across from Tori.

"Why would you need a DNA test? He's yours. There wasn't anyone else." Tori argued.

"If I'm gonna do something as big as become this kid's dad, then I need to make sure he's actually mine. Jade and I have a life, and I'm gonna waste part of it on a kid that's not even mine."

"He is yours, Beck."

"Then if he's mine, there should be no problem with me confirming that with DNA test."

"I don't want to subject my son to an unnecessary test."

"That's the deal, Tori. If you want me to be in this kid's life, then I need to have a DNA test."

Tori thought for a while, too long in Jade's opinion, and finally answered.

"Fine." She sighed. "I'll allow you to do a DNA test, but I'm picking the doctor we take him to."

"Ok. Just call me when you've picked a place." And with that, Beck and Jade got up and left.

"Do you think she's telling the truth?" Jade asked Beck, as they made their way back to their apartment.

"I don't know. Part of me hopes she is, but the other part hopes she's not."

"What do you mean? Do you want him to be your kid?"

"Not really, but what if he is? I love Giselle so much, and she's not even biologically mine. I think I could make room in my heart for Kai. He's a cute kid."

"Another kid is what you're getting, Beck. Our kid. Why would you want another with a woman you don't love?"

"Because it wouldn't be about me or Tori. It'd be about Kai."

"Personally, I hope this kid isn't yours."

"Why?"

"I can't handle another kid, Beck. We aren't even 22 yet, and we've already had 2 kids, and we have another one on the way."

"Weston doesn't count, because he's not our kids. You said it yourself."

"Either way, 3 kids at 21 is a lot."

"He wouldn't be our kid, though. He has a mom. A perfectly capable mom, I'm assuming."

"If he's your kid, then I'd still have to deal with him. Like you said, it's not just like we're dating. I can't just leave whenever he's around."

"It'll be ok, Jade. I'm sure we'll figure everything out."

"I sure hope so." She mumbled, looking out the window, already losing her fight with the millions of thoughts swarming her head.
