Sam was still waiting for an answer from the group gathered as to just why Terrence Myers was with them. She crossed her arms and started to tap her foot which she knew annoyed George. George kept it back pretty well though. Terrence rolled his eyes and got up from her seat.

"I think that's enough for one night." Terrence says going towards the door.

"You can't leave!" Sam shouted after him.

"Sam leave him." Pendrick stopped her.

"I'm coming back tomorrow if you want to know Miss Murdoch. Oh and pass on my thoughts to your father." Terrence tipped his hat.

Terrence left the group even more mad as when he was there. Sam turned back to the group looking more stormy than ever.

"Well?" Sam asked again.

"Matter of national security." Higgins shrugged.

"Higgins!"

"He can tell us tomorrow. We all need some rest." George finally said before a fight started.

"But George…" Sam tried to say before George shut her up before she could say anything.

Higgins left first with George going soon after. Pendrick offered to walk Sam home but she said she was going back to hospital. Pendrick nodded as he went to his own home.

"Typical!" Sam said to herself.

She picked up her coat and made her way back to the hospital. Even though she had promised her mum she would be back tonight, she didn't want to leave her dad alone tonight.

Pendrick was suddenly pulled to one side in the street the same night. He was surprised to see Terrence Myers staring at him.

"What do you want Myers?" Pendrick struggled out of Myer's grip.

"What I said in there, you won't tell anyone will you?" Myers asked.

"Course I won't." Pendrick chuckled quietly.

"It's just I can trust Higgins and Crabtree but you I'm not sure." Myers crossed his arms.

"You can trust me." Pendrick muttered looking around.

"Whatever you say." Myers said before skulking back to the shadows.

Pendrick rolled his eyes as he went back to his business. Myers annoyed everyone he worked with or came across. Pendrick wasn't surprised that Myers got on his nerves after a short chat.

Sam soon found her father's room again. She made sure no nurses were coming and went in. She soon fell asleep in the seat next to the bed. Just before the morning however, she heard a commotion coming from outside.

"Hello?" Sam asked, getting up from her chair.

There was another crash as Sam tried to look for anything to protect herself. The door soon swung open with Terrence Myers standing on the other side. Sam let a huge sigh as she put some piping down.

"Myers!" Sam sighed.

"Expecting someone else?" Myers smiled.

"Not really. What do you want?"

"Just checking in on our patient. With this case it might be useful." Myers nodded over to Murdoch.

"Well you've seen him. Now you can go." Sam urged him out the door.

"Crabtree also sent me to get you back to the station." Myers urged back.

Sam looked over to her father. She then picked up her bag and followed Myers out of the door. She hated being with Myers but if Crabtree insisted then she couldn't really say no could she?

Crabtree and Higgins stood outside the station house. The morning was very cold so they didn't want to be out there too long. Soon they saw Myers and Sam join them.

"Why are you waiting out here?" Sam asked, smirking.

"The station house is next to silent, we didn't want to be alone." Higgins shrugged.

Sam sniggered as she was the first one into the station. Myers hung back as he didn't want to be seen with the three officers. Typical!

"So where exactly do we start?" Crabtree asked, taking his coat and scarf off.

"Have we got any idea who would have done this?" Higgins seconded the question.

"We don't exactly know why they were there in the first place. Only he shot my dad whilst they were there." Sam said.

"Myers said anything?" Crabtree asked.

"Nope. National security." Sam shook her head.

The three sighed heavily. Myers wasn't going to reveal anything which didn't help anyone! Sam then got her coat again. Crabtree and Higgins stared at her once she did this. Sam gave them a sarcastic look.

"What?!" Sam chuckled.

"Where do you think you're going?" Higgins crossed his arms.

"To the crime scene."

Higgins and Crabtree looked at each other. Sam felt like she was being interrogated. She sighed as she got their coats for them. She threw them over to Crabtree and Higgins to their surprise. They did what she said as they didn't want to get on her bad side.

Pendrick was headed towards the station house. He soon saw Myers standing outside. Pendrick tried to walk past without being noticed.

"I can see you there Pendrick." Myers stopped him.

"Dammit." Pendrick whispered under his breath.

He then walked over to Myers. He didn't want to see Myers anywhere near anyone from the station house. It always spelt trouble for anyone inside.

"You stay away from them." Pendrick threatened him.

"What are you on about?" Myers chuckled.

"I care about the people in there. So don't you dare get them in trouble you got it?!" Pendrick hissed.

"You care about them?!"

"Yes I do. Now just leave it would you."

Myers stepped back with his hands up. Pendrick rolled his eyes and tutted at the same time. He was right though. Even though he wasn't always trusted, Pendrick knew to stick on the right side of them unlike Myers!

As the door opened, Pendrick straightened his suit. Sam was the first out into the brisk morning. Myers tried to hide his face but Sam walked straight up to him.

"You don't have to check every movement we make!" Sam tried to make her case.

"Well I don't want you spilling anything!" Myers tried his case back.

Sam wanted to hit Myers at this precise moment but after what happened last night, Pendrick held her back. He didn't want to knock Myers out a second time! Myers knew when he wasn't wanted he titled his hat and moved away and just like that he was gone again.

"That man really gets on my nerves." Crabtree shuddered.

"Well enough about him. Where are you lot going?" Pendrick asked hoping he could tag along.

"We're going to the crime scene." Higgins said, still a little confused about why they were going.

"Can I come?" Pendrick asked, smiling.

Sam shook her head. Pendrick made puppy eyes trying to put his case across. It might not win around Sam very easily but Crabtree and Higgins gave in and let him come along with them.

"I can't believe you two." Sam spoke up for herself.

"He might be of some use." Crabtree whispered out of Pendrick's earshot.

Sam rolled her eyes again as the gang made their way along. It was weird to have Pendrick with them but as both the Inspector and Murdoch were elsewhere, they had to have some people to keep the numbers up. Plus Pendrick might know things they didn't. Even if he was sometimes annoying!
