Tara, Lucy, and Sue watched on the screen as the team approached an abandoned warehouse. The sun was just starting to come up; it was still early in the morning. Sue was rocking Ella in her arms absently, and the little girl was content by the motion and was also watching the screen with interest. Sue watched in silence as the team went inside the warehouse and started walking down the halls. She looked at Tara.

"Turn left," Tara's lips said.

The cameras moved left, and they reached another hallway, which Tara told them to turn down on the right. Sue felt anticipation when they approached a door. There was no move to open it, and Sue felt confused.

"What's going on?" she asked Tara, who had a bit of a scared look on her face.

"It...it's wired," she answered. "The door."

"Wired?"

"With explosives," Tara clarified. Fear gripped Sue's heart. How were they going to get in there now? She noticed movement on the monitor and saw that Jack was now standing and facing the door. He was talking. He was asking what was going on.

Lucy reached to hold Sue's hand tightly as they both continued to watch.

...

Jack had heard the noises outside and knew his team had found him. He got to his feet, waiting. When nothing happened, he decided to call out.

"Hello?!" He waited for a response, and when none came, he called again. "HEY!"

"Jack?!" Bobby's voice called back. Jack felt immense relief. His friend was okay.

"Yea!"

"Hang on, mate. We're having some technical difficulties over here."

Jack felt his heart sink slightly. What did he mean?

"Like what?" he asked out loud.

"Oh, you know...just a little bomb," Bobby answered.

"A little..." Jack trailed off. Of course Renner would rig the door. How could he have not anticipated that?

"You okay, Jack?" Myles asked next.

"I'm fine," Jack answered.

"We don't have long before the deadline Renner gave us," D explained.

"He wants Ella?"

"And Natalie's laptop," D added.

"All right. That should do it," Bobby said now. "But just in case, stand back. Jack, move back from the door!"

"Got it," Jack said, stepping backwards to the opposite wall.

"Here goes nothing," Bobby said. Jack waited, and there was silence. He took this to be a good sign. When the door opened to reveal his grinning friend, he grinned back.

"You look like crap," he pointed out.

"Nice to see you too, Jack," Bobby retorted. He reached out with an arm to give Jack a sideways hug when he came over to them. The others reached to shake his shoulder or tousle his head.

"Any luck finding Renner?" Jack asked as they walked out together.

"Not yet. We're gonna meet him at his arranged time and place but without what he wants," D explained. "Now that we have you back, he can't use you as leverage anymore."

"Let's hope he doesn't realize how smart I am," Jack said, climbing into the back of the truck. He accepted the bottle of water Myles threw at him. He was looking forward to seeing Renner face to face and observing his reaction.

...

Tara was looking at the computer screen and was feeling surprised at the file she had found. She managed to unlock it and get into it, and what she saw greatly surprised her.

"What is it?" Lucy asked, noticing her face.

"Um, nothing," Tara answered, closing it all down. "Just feeling surprised that anyone would willingly marry Renner. That's all."

"I know. It seems strange," Lucy agreed, going back to her desk. The relief in the office was immense after Jack had been rescued. Sue was entertaining Ella on a blanket on the floor with Levi. The little girl was pulling herself up on her feet by using Levi's fur. The dog didn't seem to mind, though. It would appear that Ella was considering walking.

Tara closed down the file and made a note to mention it to Myles later. She looked back to her other monitor and saw the team reaching the place they were meeting Renner at. She hoped they would take him down and end this for good.

...

Jack, Bobby, Myles, and D were approaching the park carefully. They saw a man sitting on a park bench, and Jack knew it was Renner. The rest of the team was in the background searching for possible snipers or other men of Renner's waiting to attack. Jack stepped closer to Renner first, and the man looked up to smile at him.

"Jack Hudson," he said. "You've been after me for a while now."

"I have," Jack agreed, "and it ends right now."

"I should have known you would have a plan to be rescued," Renner went on. "But, I did anticipate that the FBI wouldn't bring me what I asked for, so I am ready for that. I just don't get the pleasure of you dying in the end. Not yet, anyway."

"We've got you surrounded," Jack said. "You can't touch us."

"I wasn't planning to," Renner said with a tone that implied something sinister was coming. Jack looked at D, who appeared a bit nervous as he tried getting a hold of Tara.

"What do you want the laptop for? Or the child?" Jack asked.

"There are things on that laptop that I need," Renner answered. "And the child...well, isn't that one obvious? She's my daughter."

"Like you care," Jack retorted.

"I don't have to explain it to you," Renner reasoned. He moved to pull out his laptop then, opening it. "Can't get a hold of your friends? Perhaps this is why." He turned the screen to face Jack.

"No," Bobby said on his right. Tara, Lucy, and Sue were on their knees with their hands over their heads with three men dressed like FBI agents standing behind them, guns aimed at their heads.

"Since you didn't bring me what I wanted, I'm going to take it," Renner said. "And you'll let me walk because those women all die if you don't."

The man holding the camera turned it so Jack could see him holding Ella in his arms. He was wearing a janitor's outfit and a grin on his face.

"Hit a sore spot, didn't I?" Renner asked. "Someone you love, right? That one right there maybe?" He pointed at Sue.

"All right," Jack said, holding out his hand. He tried not to show his anxiousness. "We can work something out here."

"There's nothing to work out. I got what I wanted, and I'm leaving," Renner said, closing the laptop and standing up. "Don't follow me, or they die." He tucked the laptop under his arm and started walking away.

"Jack?" a sniper asked in his ear.

"Let him go," Jack answered. He felt so frustrated. How had he not seen this coming? When Renner was in his SUV and driving away, Bobby exhaled sharply.

"What do we do now, Jack?" he asked.

"Pray he didn't hurt the girls and pray that somehow Ella can be traced," Jack replied.

...

The men had started to walk away with Ella. Tara couldn't stand it. They were told to stay put for at least five minutes after they left, but she couldn't do it. She jumped up.

"Tara!" Lucy hissed, afraid.

"I can't," Tara said, grabbing her gun from her desk and rifling through her drawer quickly. Then she ran after the men. Ella was starting to cry at this point. She surged forward, grabbing the man who had a hold of Ella.

"No!" she shouted, grabbing Ella's leg.

"What did I tell you?!" the man said angrily, yanking Ella away. Another man came around and punched Tara in the face, knocking her down. He pulled out his gun when Tara aimed hers.

"Let's go," the other man urged. "We don't have time for this." He pulled the man's sleeve, and he reluctantly lowered his gun but backed away with it still aimed in her direction as they got onto the elevator. When the doors closed, Tara lowered her gun and rested her throbbing head on the floor. She had pain in other places too. Falling hard had bloody well hurt.

"Tara!" Lucy shouted, running towards her. Sue was on her heels with Levi. The dog got there first and anxiously nosed Tara.

"I'm okay," Tara said, sitting up. She held her face and saw her nose was bleeding.

"That was really stupid of you," Lucy chastised. "There were four of them and one of you! You could have been killed!"

"Did you do it?" Sue asked, knowing what Tara's plan had been all along. Lucy looked at them both, confused.

"Do what?" she asked.

"I did it," Tara answered with a small smile.

"Good," Sue said and pulled her up. It helped alleviate some of her fears anyway.

"Do what?" Lucy asked again. "Guys?"

"I put a very small tracking device on the inside of Ella's pant leg," Tara explained as Sue helped her to her feet. "They'll probably find it, but it will give the guys time to find her first." She pulled out her phone to call Jack.

...

Bobby was driving like a madman when Jack got the call.

"Tara?" he asked. "You okay?"

"We're fine, Jack," Tara promised. "I'm sending you Ella's coordinates."

"You bugged her," Jack said, sighing in relief.

"Good on you, Tara!" Bobby called, overhearing.

"You won't have long. He'll check for it I'm sure," Tara said. "But you might be able to intercept them before they reach Renner."

"We're on it," Jack promised, looking at his phone as the coordinates came in. "Thanks, Tara!"

"Where am I going, Jack?" Bobby asked.

"Left," Jack answered. He grabbed the door handle as Bobby yanked the SUV in that direction. and shot his friend a look. "I'd like to get there alive, please, Crash."

"You will, Sparky," Bobby assured him. They came up behind Ella's tracking dot in no time.

"Stay back," Jack said. "They'll lead us to Renner."

"You really want to risk that?"

"It's now or never," Jack replied. "And I'd rather end this now."

"All right," Bobby agreed reluctantly. Jack hoped he wasn't making a mistake.

...

Tara, Lucy, and Sue were back watching the monitor. The office had been alerted to the breach, and there was more security up and running now. The office was filling up with agents and staff too since it was the start of the workday finally. They watched as the team parked and followed the four armed men with Ella walking towards a building. They watched as Myles caught up to the one with Ella and managed to take him down while catching Ella before she fell. They watched D, Bobby, and Jack follow the other three to where Renner was supposedly waiting. Gunshots started, and Sue gripped Lucy's hand tightly as the team dodged and jumped out of the way. She couldn't hear the shots, but she assumed that's what was going on.

"He's running, Jack!" Bobby shouted.

"Myles? You good?" Jack asked.

"I got her. We're out of here!" Myles answered. The camera on Myles's coat showed him running towards his car with Ella shrieking in his arms.

"I got one!" Bobby called. More shots went off, and the girls watched as two of the fake FBI agents were taken down. The third got away. Renner was nowhere to be seen.

"I lost the laptop," Jack said after a while. "He had it."

"Don't worry about it, Jack," Tara told him.

"Why's that?"

"I put everything on the memory stick Natalie had and wiped the laptop's hard drive," Tara replied. She held up the memory stick in her hands with a triumphant smile. "Renner's got nothin'."

"I should have known," Jack's voice chuckled. "Well done again, Tara."

Lucy patted Tara's back affectionately, and Sue grinned at her. They got Ella back. They had the information Renner wanted. They were ahead this time. How long it would stay that way was unknown, but they were a step closer to finishing this, and that's what was important.
