Dean sat on his bed and stared at the wall straight ahead. He had finally made it back home after three long days of walking. His front door was unlocked but everything inside was untouched. His phone and wallet were there where he had left them before he went out that night to break into the mansion. He knew someone had been there. Someone had unlocked the door and left his keys there.
He hadn't spoken to anyone on the three days back except for when he bought food, and he had kept his words to a minimum. He was scared. He knew she was watching him. It was the final part of the game, and he refused to fail.
When he finally made it home, he boiled some pasta and ate it with nothing on the side. He just needed something in his system. After that he took a shower and changed his clothes. Then he found the bed and just stared at the wall. He had no idea how long he had been sitting there when he heard his neighbor come home. For a few seconds he thought nothing of it until he remembered Seth was his neighbor. Someone was in Seth's apartment. He stormed out of his own apartment and into Seth's. His jaw dropped when he came face to face with Seth.
"Dean?" Seth asked.
Dean ran to Seth and pulled him in for a tight hug. Both men started crying while they hugged each other.
"How is this possible?" Dean asked. "I thought only one of us would get to live."
"Me too," Seth said.
"Holy shit!" Dean let go of Seth. "Do you think Roman's alive too?"
"Get your car keys. I'm too weak to drive," Seth said.
"Find something you can eat in the car," Dean said.
Dean ran back to his own apartment to grab his car keys. When he ran back out again, he couldn't help but laugh at Seth standing there with a bag of apples in his hands.
"I bought them the day we went there. They were in the fridge so they're still good," Seth said.
"You're gonna get a stomach ache if you eat all of them," Dean said.
"I need food," Seth said.
"Come on, little brother," Dean said. "We need to get to Roman's place."
They hurried out to Dean's car and drove to Roman's apartment. They made it up the stairs to the first floor and barged right in. Roman stared in surprise at his two friends.
"You're alive?" Roman asked. "Oh my god, you're alive!"
He dropped the clothes he held in his hands and ran to them both to hug them. Dean looked over at Roman's bed to see that Roman was in the process of packing a bag.
"Are you going somewhere?" Dean asked.
Roman grinned and walked back to the bed. He picked up a photo.
"This was on my bed when I came home," Roman said.
Roman showed the photo to Seth and Dean. It was a photo of Jimmy and Jey.
"They're alive. I'm gonna go find them," Roman said.
"You don't know when this was taken," Seth said.
"Look at the cabin," Roman said. "We went there as kids. We loved it so much that we made a pact to buy it someday. Of course we never bought it, and we never went back there. My theory is that they went through the same as us. Three days on their own to make it back, and they chose to ditch town without telling anyone. They must have remembered that old cabin and gone there. They probably bought it."
"You don't know that for sure," Dean said.
"I have to try. They're my family," Roman said.
"What about us?" Seth asked.
Roman smiled at his two friends. For three long days he had thought at least one of them were dead.
"We made it through the game," Roman said. "Come with me. Our entire family went to that cabin one year. It has room for 20 people. We can all live there."
"Are you sure they're alive and it's not just another game of hers?" Dean asked.
"I can feel it in my heart," Roman placed his hand over his heart. "They're alive. They're up there. They're happy. They turned their lives around after meeting her, and I'm gonna do the same. I don't wanna stay in this town well knowing she's fucking watching everyone in it. She's crazy. I'm done with this place. I learned my lesson."
Dean and Seth looked at each other and then back to Roman.
"I'm in," Seth said.
"Fuck it, I'm in too," Dean said.
"Great," Roman smiled. "Help me pack and then we can go back to your places and pack your shit."
"Our landlord is gonna go crazy," Dean chuckled.
"Don't tell him then," Roman shrugged. "I'm not planning on telling mine. I'm gonna do what my cousins did and just disappear. No one will ever know."
"Except for us," Seth smirked.
Seth walked over to Roman's closet and started taking out some of the clothes.
"I woke up in a well," Seth said.
"I was in a basement," Dean said.
"I got the pleasure of a barn with old hay. It made me sneeze," Roman said.
For some reason that made them all start laughing. They had just survived a crazy game, and they were all alive. Roman pulled both of them in for another hug.
"I thought I had lost you," Roman said.
"Me too," Seth sniffled.
"We're here. We're all alive," Dean said.
"That's all that matters," Roman said.
Dean and Seth nodded at that statement and started helping Roman pack.
"How many people do you think she drove out of town this way?" Seth asked.
"More than we'll ever know," Roman answered. "In a weird way she's cleansing this town for bad people, and we're just next in line to get the fuck out."
"I hate her," Dean said.
"We all do but she sure put us in our place," Roman chuckled. "Now let's get the fuck out of this town and never look back."
