Open the gates
(Epilogue)
The entire populace of the Kingdom of Arendelle were gathered in Market Square. Erected near the harbour was a stage which held banners of the Arendelle crest and standing on the stage were the five Paladins of Voltron in full Paladin armour standing to attention. Anna, Kristof, Sven and Olaf stood to the left side of the stage and standing behind it was the Lions of Voltron. Elsa stood in front of the crowd.
"My dear people, while we continue to rally in the wake of our losses after the attack in recent days, we are here today to celebrate our resiliency." Elsa began "our kingdom is at peace once more and it is to thanks to the efforts of these five heroes." She then gestured to the five Paladins. "We thank them for saving our kingdom and perhaps this world from the Galra empire."
As Elsa gives her speech flash backs are shown of the Paladins helping to rebuild the village after the attack. Lance and Kristof were helping to rebuild houses, Hunk cooked meals for the villagers in the castle with Gerda, while Anna comforts her people. Pidge used the Green lion to deliver new supplies to repair the kingdom with the help of Reyner and some of the Blade of Marmora. Kieth was dispatching supplies using Kristofs sled pulled by Sven. While Shiro, Kolivan, Allura and Coran coordinate with Elsa about rebuilding homes and relocating the homeless to temporary homes.
"We are also grateful for the repairing of damaged structures and damaged lives with their presence." The queen then went on and soon a royal official offered a box to the queen and when opened it contained silver medals bearing the Arendelle crest. One by one she placed them around the Paladins necks.
"Speaking as the queen of this kingdom I personally thank the five of you. Arendelle will honour your names forever." Elsa said and as she placed a medal round Shiros neck he gave a grateful smile as did she.
Elsa then turned to face the crowd with Voltron standing over her.
"To the Defenders of the Universe." Elsa announced "HAIL VOLTRON!"
The populace then clapped in applause and some even chanted.
" Hail Voltron"
" Hail Voltron!"
" Hail Voltron!"
Anna and Krsitof clapped honouring the heroes of the day and Allura looked to them very proud of them and Coran couldn't help but tear up. The Paladins felt amazed they were being honoured as it was rather rare they were much less given a medal of honour. Shiro smiled with pride as he looked at his medal.
"Yep its official defenders of the universe defiantly has a nice ring to it." he said.
As night fell the celebrations continued within the castle. In the castle courtyard music played and many guests danced to the music. The lions were now standing in the courtyard with Black in the centre Red on the left with Blue, and Green on the right with yellow. Everyone was awed by the lions the children even sat on their claws and even pretended they were Voltron.
Nearby Hunk was at the food table offering food he'd cooked with Arendelle and Altean food. "Now admire the taste and feeling of this delicacy." Hunk said as he and Coran handed out the food.
"That is pure Altean delicacy my friends enjoy the taste." He said as Kai took a taste of the Altea food goop.
"Mm I must admit it does taste better than it looks." he complimented.
Meanwhile Lance was surrounded by adoring fans namely girls, and as always the loverly sharp shooter was enjoying every moment of it.
"Yeah being a Paladin of Voltron is tough." Lance said smugly.
"b…ut it does have its benefits I'll consider this one of them." He gave a girl a wink and she could only giggle. Kristof could only shake his head and smile.
"Show off" he said to himself.
Anna then noticed Pidge showing some kids an Olkari cube. "This was made by Olkari scientists and though scaled up they are dangerous they're also fun to use watch this."
Pidge cleared her throat and spoke into the cube. "Ahem' I'm Pidge pilot of the green lion." The cubes lines then flashed.
" I'm Pidge pilot of the green lion" The cube echoed.
Amazing everyone. "Oooo" Awed a little boy.
"Oooo" The cube echoed. The kids then giggled.
"Well teaching some kids about technology are we." Anna said
"Yep just introducing a new culture." Pidge then said. The two then caught sight of some kids playing.
"I'm the red Paladin here to defend the universe." Said a boy.
"No way I'm the red one!" Said another boy .
"I'm the red one." said the other boy.
"Well I'm the Green Paladin he's so cool" said another boy. Anna and Pidge smiled quietly to each other knowing better.
Keith not being one for socialising was just watching the celebration. He then felt something tug his leg and he looked to see the little girl he'd saved.
"Oh hi there." He greeted and the girl wasn't alone she had a few friends with her.
"Are you a Paladin of Voltron?" Asked a girl.
"Uh.. yes." Kieth answered.
"you helped saved us from the bad men right?" Asked a boy.
"Uh yeah I guess I did." Keith then said.
"Can you tell us the story?" Asked the girl.
"You, want me, to tell you the story of what happened?" Keith asked.
"Yes please, please" pleaded the girl and her friends Keith was surprised and wasn't sure how good he'd be with kids.
"Okay okay I'll tell the story." Keith chuckled deciding to tell them.
"Okay heres how the story goes, long ago" Keith began unbeknownst to him Anna was watching and could only smile at the Red Paladin.
Meanwhile Allura watched the celebrations and how the Paladins were having good time Elsa then came over to her.
"You know I've only just realised that sometimes the Paladins can forget their humility." Allura joked.
"Yes well they are having fun something we all have to have sometimes." Elsa then joked.
"That is true." Allura said "I must admit I'm rather impressed how you and your sister survived a battlefield to help the Paladins."
"I guess I git swept in the moment." Elsa said rubbing the back of her neck.
"I understand the feeling." Allura said she then noticed a certain Black Paladin come towards them and she smiled.
"I'll leave you two to talk." She said walking away. Shiro came up next to the ice queen. He then noticed the ice sculpture of Voltron in between the fountains in the courtyard.
"Hmm a perfect likeness." Shiro complemented.
"Why thank you." Elsa said "I must admit that medal is very nice." She complemented. "It suits its wearer very well." Shiro then smiled.
"Glad you noticed." He said.
Elsa then smiled. "Shiro, I just wanted to say… thanks, for everything. For your confidence in me, for saving me for well…. just believing in me."
"Well thats what a leader does he or she believes in their team mates and gives them the confidence to succeed. Besides we look out for each other." Shiro smiled
"You know it's funny." Elsa said looking to see the Paladins with the crowd and civilians. "I never thought that after a shower of shooting stars that five heroes from space would fall into my life."
"Yeah I guess the universe has a rather funny way of shifting events." Shiro chuckled.
"You know, we never did get to finish that dance at the ball." Elsa said with a hand on her hips.
Shiro then smirked. "Well if a dance is what you want we can do that right now." He said offering his hand.
"Actually I have a better idea." Elsa said then moving to the centre of the courtyard then stomped on the ground turning the floor to ice and then freezing the water from the fountains into decorative ice pieces. Everyone in the courtyard began skating on the ice and Coran found himself skating on the ice and was rather good at it.
"Ha ha Coran Coran the skating man!" He cheered right up until he accidentally did the splits and his pupils shrunk with the pain. "Oeeeeee" He groaned as Gerda just giggled.
Elsa then fired a shot of ice to Shiro's feet generating a pair of ice-skates. "Oh Uh thanks Elsa but I've never really ice skated befo….." Elsa then pulled Shiro along the ice.
"Oh come on you'll love it" She giggled and the Black Paladin found it hard to maintain his balance until Elsa helped stabilise him. He wasn't the only one having troubles Pidge was just slipping on the ice and slipped onto her bottom until Anna caught her.
"Oh thanks" She said.
"Its okay Pidge I wasn't any good at skating either." Anna said
Lance without wishing to boast took to skating rather quickly. "Look out Blue Paladin Lance coming through." He said skating along.
Keith could only watch as they all skated and even saw Olaf sliding along the ice while Hunk rode along the ice with Sven pushing him along. In the midst of this celebration The Paladins, Alteans and Arendelle residence got together and posed for a group photo compliments of Lances camera phone.
Later that evening:
The Castle of lions was hovering above the North Valley just near the the toll the battle took on the castle, Reyner, Pidge, Hunk and Coran were able to repair the damage and was ready to take flight again. The Paladins and Altean's were on the ground bidding farewell to their friends.
"Do you guys have to go?" Anna said rather sad.
"Well as much as we love this place we have our own universe to protect." Lance said.
"Yeah especially with Zarkon still out there." Kieth agreed.
"So this is goodbye." Elsa said rather disheartened.
"Not necessarily." Coran then said.
"Thanks to the new calibrations to the Teledove we can now open wormholes that allow us to travel to this universe however we please, and the receiver we've left in the castle here." Hunk then explained.
"Yes and it wasn't easy to account for traveling between worlds but thanks to the pillar specs, and Reyner's help we were able to do it." Pidge added.
"Great and listen I don't want to bother you guys too much but, if your... well that is my birthdays coming up and uh.." Anna then said
"Don't worry we'll be back for that." Pidge smiled.
"But what about the Galra?" Kristof asked.
"Yes won't we be on their radar now?" Elsa asked rather concerned.
"Well with the pillar data deleted from their system they can't travel back here." Allura assured.
"Yeah and even if they did they'd have to go through us first." Lance said confidently.
Everyone then bid their farewells. "I'm gonna miss you Pidge." Anna said.
"I know I'll miss you too." Pidge said back Anna knelt down to Pidge's eye level.
"I hope you find your dad and brother." She said as the two embraced in a hug and a lone tear came from Pidge's eye likewise with Anna.
Lance and Hunk bid their farewells to Kristof and Sven. "Well its been great meeting you guys." Kristof said.
"Yeah you too man." Lance said.
"But hey listen next time we're in town how about showing us how the ice business works?" Hunk asked.
"Sounds good to me, right Sven." Kristof motioned to his reindeer companion "Yeah sounds good to me" He then intimidated. To which Lance just shook his head and smiled.
"And hey Lance." Kristof then said "Good luck with Allura, I hope my families advice helped."
"Yeah it did a little." Lance said "Good luck with Anna." He said offering his hand and he shook it while Hunk rubbed Svens head.
"Well Kristof it was nice to meet you." Said Coran
"Yeah it was nice meeting you too Coran." Kristof said as he and Coran shook hands.
"I'll miss you Keith." Olaf said opening his arms for a hug. Keith then just held his hand out.
"Don't even think about it." He said simply and Olaf fell into depression suddenly he was being picked up and hugged by Keith and the little snowman all but returned the favour. Anna then walked over as Keith lowered the little snowman down.
"Never saw that coming?" Keith asked.
"Yeah you never cease to surprise me." Anna said.
"Listen Anna thanks for everything." Keith said, to which Anna could only smile. "And do me a favour…try not to be so stubborn and exercise proper judgement." He said with a grin.
"Ha ha very funny, and Keith." Anna then giggled. "Try to be more open with people and well, don't let yourself be defined by whats in your blood. I don't pretend to know the future but, well if your mother is still alive, I hope you find her." Anna then said to which he gave a slight smile. To which Keith returned with a smile of his own.
Meanwhile Elsa was talking to Allura. "Thank you for everything Allura, you've taught me so much and you've been a good friend." Elsa said to the Altean Princess.
"Its been a pleasure to know you as well Elsa." Allura said putting her hand on her shoulder. " You are a fine queen and, I know your parents would be proud."
"Thanks, and I think your father would be proud too." Elsa said to which Allura smiled and the two shared a hug. The two broke apart and the Ice queen went to bid her farewell to a certain Black Paladin.
"Shiro, I thank you for everything." She said.
"You don't have to thank me for anything I already know." Shiro said with a smile.
"Yes, but I… I just wish you didn't have to go." She said.
"I know I don't want to go either but I made a decision to help my universe, besides I don't know if I could belong here." Shiro said Elsa then placed her right hand against his face.
"You could Shiro, you could belong here, if you wanted to, with me." Elsa said.
"I know." He said putting his hand on hers. "But I'm more than just a Paladin."
"Your their leader" Elsa answered. "and duty to them comes first."
"Yeah." Shiro then answered.
"I guess the thing about being leaders is that we don't have a choice in fact there are so many things we can choose." Elsa then said "But I do choose this."
Elsa then gave Shiro a kiss on the lips and the two looked into each others eyes. "Goodbye, Takashi Shirogane." She then said and Shiro gave a warm smile in return, Elsas gaze then turned to his lion.
"Look after him Black." She said and she heard a growl in her mind and she smiled.
The Paladins and the Alteans went to the lions. Shiro turned back to the Arendelle residence and gave a small smile and a nod he then entered his lion. The lions then fired their thrusters and took to the sky Anna, Elsa, Kristof, Sven and Olaf watched as the five flew away leaving their respective colour trails behind and entered the Castle of Lions. The Castle then turned Northward and from its centre bow it fired a beam of light to the sky opening a wormhole within the rip in the sky.
The Castle flew into the wormhole which then disappeared in a flash of light. The light faded and the crack with the wormhole was gone.
Later that night in the Arendelle castle, Elsa was getting ready for bed. She was wearing her blue night gown, and before she went to bed, the ice queen looked to her window and in the sky she could see the Northern lights flicker in the sky along with several shooting stars. Elsa smiled remembering what happened on the night she saw some shooting stars. As she turned in the scene zooms out to a landscape view of the kingdom and within the stars and aura of the lights above the shape of Voltron was present.
Would the Paladins and Arendelle royals meet again? well let's just say thats a story, for another time.

Authors Notes: And thats a wrap folks, but for those who enjoyed this story hold back those tears, for you can expect a Frozen Fever mini sequel and a sequel story later in the year when I get my other stories out of the way, many questions left unanswered, mysteries yet to be solved and a universe of adventure awaits the Paladins and Frozen crew.
