Chapter 9: Arrival of the Mixed Mario Team
It didn't take long before the center of Toad Town would once again become a battlefield against Tabuu's forces. In the skies above, Dark Pit was flying around Star Dream's body while Star Dream was firing its lasers at Dark Pit. Dark Pit managed to dodge all the shots and pulled out his Dark Bow.
Viridi (telepathically to Dark Pit)- You'll need to...
Dark Pit- Aim for the big yellow eye on Star Dream's mechanical body! That's what I'm aiming at! This Pit doesn't need anyone to hold his hand on what to do! I've explained that before!
Viridi (telepathically to Dark Pit)- Don't be so rude there, Dark Pit! Remember, you're only able to fly with my power, which is why you joined the Forces of Nature.
Dark Pit- (Mutters under his breath)
Dark Pit aimed and fired an arrow at Star Dream's eye, but Star Dream created a heart shaped energy shield to block. Then Star Dream opened a portal from above Dark Pit and a swarm of meteors began dropping from above.
Viridi (telepathically to Dark Pit)- Quickly! Evasive maneuvers!
Dark Pit did his best to dodge the falling meteors, but one of his wings brushed part of one of the meteors and the tip caught fire.
Viridi (telepathically to Dark Pit)- Dark Pit, you need to land quickly and put out that fire right away before it spreads!
Dark Pit- Happy to comply this time!
As Dark Pit landed somewhere to put the fire on his wing out, Goh was battling with Poke'mon Hunter J.
Poke'mon Hunter J- Runerigus, shadow ball!
Runerigus launched shadow ball at Goh's Raboot and Sobble. They managed to dodge, but they both looked like they took some heavy damage already.
Goh- Raboot, flamethrower on Drapion! And Sobble, water gun on Runerigus!
Raboot and Sobble launched their attacks, but Drapion knocked Raboot's flamethrower aside with its tail and Runerigus blocked Sobble's water gun with its arms.
Poke'mon Hunter J- Pathetic! And you call yourself a Poke'mon Trainer? You might have a large deposit of Poke'mon, but you lack skill. It takes quality, not just quantity when it comes to Poke'mon. And to think Ash chose you to take his place.
Goh- My Poke'mon might not be the greatest in the world, but they're all my friends and I wouldn't trade the ones I've caught for any of your evil Poke'mon! And I know Raboot and Sobble will help me complete my dream of catching Mew someday!
Poke'mon Hunter J- Mew…?! You're joking?! HAHAHAHAHA! You actually think you'll be able to catch Mew, one of the rarest and most elusive legendary Poke'mon of all time?! HAHAHAHA!
Goh- What the hell is so funny?!
Poke'mon Hunter J- That was good for a laugh…but in all seriousness, you're better off trying to convince Ash to relinquish his ownership over Prince Calmly's Ho-Oh.
Goh- Says you! Raboot, Sobble, I'm not gonna take this bitch spitting at me dream! Time to get serious!
Raboot- Raboot!
Sobble- Sobble!
At the same time, Sly and Bandana Dee were fighting the Quinking (in his real form). Bandana Dee was knocked into the edge of a nearby fountain and his spear fell into the fountain. Bandana Dee tried to reach for it, but the Quinking dropped his foot on Bandana Dee's back and pinned him to the ground.
Quinking- It appears you can't fight so well without that little sharp tool on a stick you carry.
Then the Quinking got hit in the eye with Sly's boomerangs and he fell off of Bandana Dee.
Bandana Dee- Thanks…
Sly- No time for that! And you need to get your spear now!
Bandana Dee jumped into the fountain while the Quinking got back up.
Quinking- I'll make you pay for that!
The Quinking spat out a stream of fire, but Sly dodged. However, the Quinking dropped his tail on Sly from above when he dodged, knocking him to the ground. Before the Quinking could attack Sly again, Bandana Dee's spear poked the Quinking in the nose from the fountain and made him back away from Sly. Sly looked and saw Bandana Dee soaked from head to toe, but he got his spear back.
Sly- Guess we're even.
At the same time, Wario and Waluigi were fighting Fawful and his headgear. Waluigi attempted to kick Fawful, but Fawful used his headgear to fly a few feet above Waluigi. However, Wario got above Fawful and attempted to drop on him. Fawful's headgear opened its mouth and tried to swallow Wario, but as soon as Wario landed in the headgear's mouth, both Fawful and the headgear crashed to the ground. Wario rolled out of the headgears mouth after they crashed, but he was all wet.
Wario- Yuck! Why does that thing on his head drool?!
Fawful- Fawful see creepy yellow mustache too fat and heavy even for headgear…and headgear supposed to be really strong.
Wario- HEY! Who you calling fat you green dick?! I should pop your head off for covering me in that thing's saliva!
Above them again in the sky, Diddy Kong on his barrel rocket pack and Sky riding Wrench in Wrench's giant form were facing off against Zero2. Zero2 fired a few energy balls from its eye at them, but Diddy and Sky managed to dodge.
Diddy Kong- That bleeding eye is just…I think I can see why Kirby doesn't like to talk about this guy. His appearance is disturbing.
Sky- That bleeding eye is, but those wings…those wings are just beautiful!
Diddy Kong- Actually, he used to be a giant eyeball with no wings. The angle-like appearance is somehow a result of Kirby supposedly killed the original Zero. But I know his weakness!
Diddy Kong fired some of his peanut pistols at Zero2's eye, but something stopped them, like an energy barrier around his eye.
Diddy Kong- But Kirby said Zero's weakness was…
Sky- I think Tabuu would've done something about it after how I heard Link almost gouged Zero's eye in season 5.
Zero2 flapped both of his wings and made two large tornados that lunged at Diddy Kong, Sky, and Wrench. They managed to dodge, but Wrench was almost knocked out of the sky and Diddy almost lost control of his barrel rocket pack.
Diddy Kong- Where's DK when you need him…
Meanwhile back on the ground, Tails and Bolo were up against Infinite.
Bolo- That mask of his is creeping me out.
Tails- That's not what you should be worried about. It's being caught in one of Infinite's virtual reality illusions he creates from the Phantom Rube is what you have to watch out for.
Bolo didn't take Tails' warnings and slung his Morningstar at Infinite. The spiked ball passed through a few red cubes Infinite created and the spiked ball of the Morningstar turned into a balloon.
Bolo- What the…
Tails- I told you! Infinite can create illusions that effect our reality with that Phantom Ruby of his. We need to be smart when fighting him.
Infinite launched some of the Phantom Ruby's energy at them, but Tails and Bolo dodged. Tails flew up and Infinite had those red cubes chase after him. Tails managed to avoid being touched by them and pull out his little arm cannon and fired a laser at Infinite. However, Infinite created a shield to block the attack.
Infinite- You'll need to do better if you want to get passed my Phantom Ruby's defenses.
Suddenly, a chain and spiked ball wrapped around Infinite from behind.
Infinite- What the…?!
Bolo- I'd say he did a good job at making you look away just long enough!
Then Bolo punched Infinite in the face and knocked him to the ground. There was a noticeable crack on Infinite's mask under where the eye is visible.
Infinite- You broke part of my mask! You're gonna pay for that!
Meanwhile, Knuckles and Impa were fighting Lord Fredrick. Lord Fredrick created a large spiked club out of ice and swung, but Impa blocked with her giant knife. However, Lord Fredrick was causing Impa to lose ground as he was pushing her back. Luckily, Knuckles managed to get up close and shatter that ice club with his fist. Knuckles swung his other fist at Fredrick, but Fredrick caught it before it reached his face.
Knuckles- What the hell?! Why can't I move my fist closer or out of your grip?
Lord Fredrick- You fool! I'm just as strong as Donkey Kong. You can't out muscle me like that.
Lord Fredrick rammed his head into Knuckles' forehead and knocked Knuckles to the ground. Then Fredrick looked up and saw Impa using water to create a bunch of water arrows directly above him.
Lord Fredrick- You do realize I can stop your water attack simply by freezing it?
Fredrick pulls out his horn and blows on it to unleash a burst of ice to freeze the water arrows.
Impa- Actually, that works to my advantage…
Then the water arrows, now turned to ice arrows, dropped down from above and pelted Fredrick. Fredrick raised his arms to try and block them, but Knuckles got back up and punched Lord Fredrick in the gut and knocked him to the ground.
Knuckles- That was for the headbutt earlier!
Lord Fredrick- Guess I've been too soft on you retards. But this time I'm gonna burry you in ice colder than the artic!
At the same time, Shadow was up against Sir Grodus. Grodus created four energy balls from his staff and launched them at Shadow, but Shadow used Chaos Control to warp out of the way. However, the energy attack followed after Shadow as soon as he reappeared.
Sir Grodus- You can thank Tabuu for upgrading my attacks to apply heat seeking abilities. You can't run from this.
Shadow- Want to bet…
Shadow used Chaos control again, but this time, Shadow reappeared on top of Grodus' mechanical head. The energy balls were moving towards Shadow again, but he teleported with Chaos Control again. However, they attacked Grodus instead. When the smoke clear and Shadow reappeared near where the smoke cloud was, Grodus created an energy shield around his body to block his own attack.
Sir Grodus- How dare you use my own attack against me!
At the same time, Aryll was up against Vaati.
Vaati- I'd much rather be fighting your older brother, Link, but I suppose you'll do until then.
Aryll- Yeash! Has anyone told you that you talk too much about my brother killed you?! Every time you're in one of the author's fanfictions, you wine and complain about Link decapitating you! It's getting annoying!
Vaati- Well you never got your head cut off! But maybe it's time you learned. I supposed chucking your severed head at Link will rattle him us when he shows up in that Tasmanian tiger's body.
Vaati drew a sword and tried to strike at Aryll, but she used Naryu's love to block.
Aryll- You've obviously seemed to have forgotten…I have Hylia's magic inside of me. And this power I possess is just as powerful as my brother's Master Sword.
Then Vaati levitated above the ground a bit before Aryll flung him into the side of a building.
Vaati- Damn it! Forgot about Hylia's magic inside of this girl's body. This might be trickier than I expected.
Meanwhile, Marx was flying up just a bit above the action and saw part of Toad Town was on fire. Part of him was starting feel upset at the sight of this.
Marx- This is wrong…
At the same times Marx said that, he heard Jayx's voice say the exact same thing at the exact same time.
Marx- What the…Jayx…? But…but…I'm not dreaming. Where are you coming from this time?
Then Marx was interrupted from his thoughts when a shock pistol shot him right out of the sky and made him crash back to the ground. When Marx looked up, he saw Shazza holding her shocker gun.
Shazza- Bad time to get distracted there, little jester.
Shazza fired again, but Marx quickly split himself in half to avoid the shot.
Marx- You missed me. But how's about I focus more on you instead?
Marx spread his wings and fired a few arrows at Shazza. Luckily, Shazza dodged them. However, Hades was watching this chaos from a safe distance. Probably because he was still a little drained after casting that body switching spell earlier.
Hades- Those little sidekicks are giving all of us a bit more of a challenge than we originally anticipated. Alright everyone! I think it's time we got more serious! Time to activate Tabuu's power!
Then Tabuu's mark appeared on Hades' left palm and so did the rest of Tabuu's followers in that fight.
(Back in Smash City)
Mario and the rest of the team were still attempting to figure out how the other's body worked. Mario seemed to understand more on how to control Sonic's speed while still in Sonic's body. Same thing with the rest of the team. However, Luigi still wasn't at the same skill with a sword as Link with the Master Sword.
Palutena- Excellent! You're all showing improvement.
Pit (in Yoshi's body)- Thanks, Lady Palutena. But do you think we're ready to get out there and find Hades and make him undo his little spell?
Ty (in Shantae's body)- Yeah! I'd like to make that son of a bitch pay for this nasty trick he pulled on all of us, mate!
Palutena- I'm not sure you're ready for that. Don't get me wrong. You've all gotten better since Angel Island, but I can tell you're all still rough around the edges. Luigi is still a bit clumsy with the Master Sword, Ty hasn't figured out which dances to perform Shantae's transformations, Ash hasn't worked with Kirby's Super Abilities yet, Mario hasn't practiced with Chaos' power from the Chaos Emeralds yet, Link hasn't figured out how to summon the Sacred Bunyip power inside Ty's body, and you still haven't figured out how to lay one of Yoshi's egg bombs. Need I go on?
Donkey Kong (in Mario's body)- Still, we're not going to find Hades just standing around Smash City.
Suddenly, a call on Ty's computer rang out. Palutena pushed a button to answer the call and Princess Peach appeared on screen.
Mario (in Sonic's body)- Princess Peach!
Palutena- I trust things are going fine in the Mushroom Kingdom…
Princess Peach- Actually…we got a big problem!
Then Princess Peach shows Tabuu's followers attacking Toad Town and they had all activated their samples of Tabuu's power to strengthen all of them. And with that boost of power, Tabuu's followers managed to completely turn around the situation. Goh was on the ground with Poke'mon Hunter J's boot on his chest while Goh's Raboot and Sobble were grabbed by J's Runerigus, Goh's Hitmonchan pinned to the wall by J's Drapion, and Goh's Scyther struggling to prevent J's Mega Salamence from swallowing it whole while Scyther was in its mouth. And all of J's Poke'mon also has glowing red eyes while a black aura surrounded their bodies and Tabuu's mark became more noticeable on J's left palm. Also, Marx had wrapped his tongue around Shazza and began flinging her into buildings over and over. Things were not looking good for their friends with Tabuu's followers now that they're using Tabuu's power. Mario immediately turned around and began moving towards the door.
Palutena- Mario, where are you going?
Mario (in Sonic's body)- Where does it look like? I'm going to the Mushroom Kingdom and help our friends!
Palutena- But Mario…
Mario (in Sonic's body)- Sure, I'm still not myself and nowhere near as good at using Sonic's powers as good as Sonic, but our friends need out help and they don't have the time to wait.
Palutena- I guess you're starting to sound more like Marco, since I know he'd say the same thing if he were in your shoes.
Mario (in Sonic's body)- What about the rest of you? I know we're still far from returning to the team we once were, but can I still rely on you for support?
(Back in Toad Town)
Infinite had grabbed Tails by the neck and threw him to the ground. Infinite's body was using Tabuu's power to make himself stronger and had that black aura around his body. Bolo swung his morning star at him from behind, but the spiked ball and chain literally turned into bubbles. While Bolo was taking in what just happened, Infinite snapped his fingers and the ground Bolo was standing on turned into a pit that Bolo fell into. Bolo did a full split as his arms and legs pressed against the pit's edge to keep himself from landing in the spikes at the bottom. Infinite returned his attention to Tails and energy knives out of both the Phantom Ruby's power and the sample of Tabuu's power he was using.
Infinite- So…any last words, Tails?
Tails- Sonic…forgive me…I failed…
Infinite launched those energy knives at Tails, but suddenly, a blue blur rushed in and kicked them away from Tails. Tails looked up and saw what appeared to be Sonic.
Tails- Sonic…
Mario (in Sonic's body)- Well…not exactly…
