60 years later...
Life in the Underground had been much better than the first time around. Six human children had fallen down since Chara, and all of them were taken under the care of the royal family. The monsters, while still upset they were trapped, held little animosity towards the humans. Asgore and Toriel were still living happily together, and led the kingdom with equal power. Obviously, Asriel and Chara were still alive, due to never going through with their plan to free the monsters. The two of them had actually aged really well. Chara, despite being over 70 years old, looked like they were only 30 or 40. To be fair, monster food probably helped quite a bit.
Today, however, was a special day. Both Chara and Asriel knew something would happen today, and they decided they would tell their parents together.
"Mom, dad, we need to talk," said Chara, "Do you remember when the seventh human fell, and I told you we needed to wait before we broke the barrier?" they asked.
"Yeah, what about it?" asked Asgore.
"First, there are several monsters we need to come as well. Sans and Papyrus of Snowdin, Undyne of Waterfall, and Alphys, the Royal Scientist. Do you think you could summon them here?"
"Uh, sure, I suppose I can if this is that important." He sent out the letters and everyone was gathered in the living room within an hour.
"Okay, my child, we're all here. What is it you want to tell us?" said Toriel. Chara and Asriel looked at each other.
"Well...it's a long story. You see..." and Chara told the group everything, with Asriel interjecting where needed. They told them about Frisk, and the resets. They told them about the genocide, and how Frisk was corrupted by a legendary demon. Asriel refused to tell anyone about his time as a flower, and Chara respected that. Finally, after what felt like hours, they stopped.
"So you're saying this human, this 'Frisk', will fall down today?" asked Toriel.
"Yes, I believe so. And if my theory is correct, they will also remember all of the previous resets," replied Chara. They looked over to Sans and Alphys, who were looking at each other. "I bet you two have several questions..."
"Well...I-It's just..." Alphys stuttered.
"hey, let's just say alph and i have had some theories about time manipulation for a while," explained Sans.
"WAIT, SANS, YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS?!" exclaimed Papyrus.
"look, i'll explain it to you later, okay pap?"
"FINE."
"Hey, if this kid's falling down today, shouldn't we run over to the Ruins so we can meet them?" asked Undyne.
"Yeah, I'm sure Frisk will be glad to see all of you again. After all, it's been about sixty years since the last reset," said Chara.
"Well, shall we all head over there together? I'll go get the other children to tell them we'll be gone for a bit," said Toriel. She left the room while everyone else prepared their things. They were making their way to the River Person within 10 minutes.
"Tra la la, I see we have a large group. Allow me to make more room..." as they said this, the boat grew longer and wider so that everyone had a comfortable amount of space. After it had finished growing, the group boarded the boat. "Now, where shall we be going?"
"The Ruins, please," said Chara. One of the things they had convinced their parents to do was to make an artificial river that ran through the Ruins. It definitely made travel much easier.
"Then we're off," announced the River Person. The ride was very short, only lasting a couple of minutes. "Tra la la, have a nice day!" said the River Person. Everyone thanked them and stepped off, walking towards the patch of flowers that all of the monsters knew about. Asgore had originally wanted to post a guard here, but Toriel talked him out of it since it would probably scare off any humans that fell. Everyone looked on the flowers, and sure enough, there was Frisk, sitting up as if they had been waiting for a while.
"Hey, Frisk," said Chara.
"Hey, Chara," said Frisk. The two embraced like siblings that hadn't seen each other in ages. It was slightly awkward, seeing as how Chara was twice as tall as Frisk, but it was heartwarming none the less. "I assume you told them about everything?" said Frisk.
"Yeah, they know. Asriel and I told them before we came to get you," replied Chara. The group sat for a while and talked about many things. Finally, everyone decided it was probably time to head back home.
"WAIT, IF WE WERE WAITING FOR FRISK BEFORE WE BROKE THE BARRIER, THEN DOES THAT MEAN WE CAN FINALLY GO FREE NOW?!" asked Papyrus.
"Now, Papyrus, I feel like Frisk should get some rest first. We can break the barrier tomorrow," replied Toriel.
"Usually, I would say we should go ahead and do it, but it's probably already so late now. We will do it first thing tomorrow, though," said Frisk. Everyone seemed to agree, and they took the River Person back to their respective homes. Frisk beamed as they entered Home, this time to stay the night and not to prepare for a final showdown. They were introduced to the other humans, and they discussed how excited they were to finally destroy the barrier. Finally, Toriel entered the room and commanded the children to go to bed.
The next day the humans woke up ready to destroy the barrier once and for all. Asgore went from town to town to give some short speeches about how they were finally ready to destroy the barrier, but the monsters were to wait until some talks had been held with the humans before they could leave.
Chara, Frisk, and the other humans were eventually escorted to the barrier by Asgore, Toriel, and Asriel. Chara agreed they would stay out of the ritual, meaning only Frisk and the other humans would actually do the deed. They arranged themselves in a semicircle in front of the barrier, and each one concentrated on their monst important trait. Slowly, souls of patience, bravery, integrity, perseverance, kindness, justice, and determination floated in front of each of the humans. There was a bright light, and suddenly, the barrier was destroyed. Several of the younger humans collapsed from exhaustion, but Frisk and some others stayed standing, albeit out of breath. Frisk walked over to stand with Chara and Asriel, and the three of them left the Underground together, ready to explore and go on new adventures together.
Author's note: Welp, it's finally finished. I have to say, I definitely preferred this one over The Anomaly. Redemption had a much more original story, while The Anomaly had several scenes that were literally pulled straight from the game. Just like last time, I want to give a huge thanks to the people that favorited and followed this journey. Those people would be Ieatcookiecake, ThatGuyFanFic, Twinwarrior, dream1990, thatfanboi, zanedreemurr, Dark156, agus97619, and ultragreenyellow56.
With that out of the way, what's next? First off, I want to get something out of the way. I know I said before that I had plans to write a sequel to The Anomaly, but I've kind of lost the animation to do so. If you guys really want me to, maybe I'll do it. But for right now, I probably won't do it. I have several other ideas swirling around in my head, but I really don't know which one I want to do, or even if I want to do any of them, so it might be a while before I do another big fanfic. If any of you guys have ideas feel free to PM me and I might add them to the list if I like how they sound. Anyways, I really hope you liked this fanfic as much as I have, and I hope to see you all next time I write one. Bye!
