S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet

Location: Heading towards the Fridge

"Agent Hand, we've locked on coordinates for the Fridge. We'll arrive in three hours." the pilot said

"And the plane is on autopilot?" Hand asked

"Yes, Ma'am." the pilot said

"Good." Hand said

"May I leave, ma'am?" the pilot asked

"No, stay there. I need you." Hand asked as she looked down at Garrett and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent guarding him "You know, Agent Garrett, Agent Ward shot the wrong clairvoyant. I wanted to give him the honor of at least shooting the real one, I guess the honor's mine."

Hand pointed a gun at Garrett, she stood there for a moment as she pointed the gun towards the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and shot him to death. The pilot, who was still standing there, tried to run but was met with two bullets to the back of his head. Hand threw the gun down as she looked down on Garrett and offered him a hand up.

"Hail Hydra, John." Hand said

"Hail Hydra, Vic." Garrett said as he accepted Vic's hand up and looked down at the dead S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Thank God that Hand's cover wasn't blown Garrett thought to himself.

The Bus (plane of Coulson's team)

Location: Unknown

Skye opened her eyes as she looked around Barry's room, Barry wasn't inside. Skye got up and got ready as she went to the kitchen and was surprised to find Barry there. On the table, there nearly all kinds of food: Toast, Pancakes, Waffles, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausages and much more. Is Barry making a buffet for the team? Skye thought to herself Wow, this all smells amazing

"Barry?" Skye called "What is this?"

"Hey, you're awake." Barry said as he kissed Skye's head "So, I thought I would make breakfast for the whole team. Besides, we are gonna be surviving here for a while. So I thought we should also live."

"God you are bestest boyfriend alive." Skye said

"That's not even a word." Barry said

"Come here and shut up, Barry Allen." Skye said as she pulled Barry into a quick kiss.

"Are those waffles I smell?" Ward asked from behind

"Yes, Agent Ward." Barry said in fake-robot voice "How may I serve you?"

"That's excellence for a robot." Jemma said as she, Coulson, May, Fitz and Trip all came through the door.

"Those pancakes smell good, Allen." Trip complimented

"Thanks Trip." Barry said

"I'll kill for those pancakes." Fitz said as the team enjoyed a good laugh.

"What exactly is going on here?" Coulson asked

"Barry made breakfast." Skye said "Come on, let's eat."

"Starving." Trip said as he and the team, except for May, all went over to the counter for breakfast.

"May, why don't you join us?" Barry suggested

"I'm fine." May replied

"Come on, I insist. You're a part of this team too, you know." Barry insisted

"Alright, if you insist." May said as she walked forward but stopped for a moment "Thank you for forgiving me, Barry."

Barry nodded as May headed towards the counter, Coulson turned to Barry for a moment.

"Barry, a word in my office?" Coulson said

"Yeah." Barry replied as he and Coulson made their way to Coulson's office.

On Coulson's desk, Barry could see a large box of supplies. From what Barry could make out of it, it was Fury's things, stuff he had given Coulson or that Coulson had from him. There was also an open safe with some of Coulson's things.

"You're putting away your things?" Barry asked as Coulson closed and locked the door.

"Not just mine, Fury's as well. Thought you might want to get a last look." Coulson said

"Sure, I guess." Barry said as he saw Coulson's badge in the safe, on the badge, Barry noticed some strange numbers that were glowing. "Wait, stop."

"What it is it?" Coulson asked as Barry made his way to the safe and took out the badge. Barry showed the badge to Coulson, who looked in surprise.

"These are coordinates." Coulson realized

"There's only one person who could've sent this, and this is so his style." Barry said as he and Coulson looked down on the glowing numbers with pride and hope.

"Call the team, tell 'em we're having a briefing. They can bring their breakfast plates." Coulson said as he head out the door.

The team chewed on their food as they listened to Coulson's debrief, they found a bit hard to hear what he was saying due to him constantly eating the waffles Barry had made.

"So... We tracked the coordinates found on my badge and they lead to the middle of Canada." Coulson said as he continued to eat his waffle, he then turned to Barry. "Hmm, these are amazing waffles, Barry."

"Thanks, Coulson." Barry said as he had already finished his plate.

As Coulson finished his briefing, Ward looked down at a S.H.I.E.L.D. i-pad in shock of what he was seeing from the security footage of the Quinjet that Garrett was on. Jemma noticed Ward's shocked looks as she held his firmly and looked into his eyes.

"Grant, is everything alright?" Jemma asked

"You guys might want to see this." Ward said with a deep sigh as he pulled up the footage from the Quinjet to the large screen.

Coulson and the team turned and looked in shock as they Agent Victoria Hand killing two young S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and saying the words 'Hail Hydra' to John Garrett.

"Great, Hand is Hydra." Barry groaned

"But why?" Skye asked

"I don't know." Coulson said "But we need to get to that base, especially if Fury sent this to us."

"Agreed, the only problem is that we have no idea what's waiting for us there." Trip said "S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra."

"If there's even a difference." Fitz muttered

"There is a difference." May said from the corner "S.H.I.E.L.D. was built on the foundation of protecting the world, Hydra? Ruling and dominating it."

"May's right." Coulson said "Let's go get this base."

Canada

The Bus landed about half a mile from the base as Coulson and the team dressed in winter-appropriate clothing. Everyone made their way through the hangar door as Coulson led the way holding a device that tracked their position and their distance to the supposed base. The team trekked through the snow as Barry and Ward trailed next to each other.

"Did you think it was worth it?" Ward finally asked Barry

"What?" Barry asked

"Killing Thawne, do you think it was worth it?" Ward repeated

"Yeah, it more than worth it." Barry replied "Nevertheless, it was an accident."

"I would've done the same thing if it was Jemma." Ward said "This job, this life, it only gets harder. Not easier."

"Yeah." Barry agreed "I'm still wondering if there's a limit."

"Everything doesn't last forever." Ward said

At the front, Skye and Coulson walked next together.

"It's beautiful, you know." Coulson said "You and Barry."

"Yeah, it is." Skye replied

"What's wrong?" Coulson asked with worry

"Nothing." Skye replied quickly

"Let's try that again." Coulson suggested "What's wrong?"

"Barry just seems to be affected by Fury's death more than any of us, even more than you. I'm worried about him." Skye answered

"It makes sense." Coulson said "Barry told me that Fury had been a father figure to him. Fury gave him a home, a family, a place in the world. In a way, he even gave him you. With his death, Barry must feel like he's losing his dad all over again."

"You speak about being a father figure like you know the feeling." Skye noticed "Who's like a son or daughter to you?"

"You are." Coulson said "I know I'm not your father and I never will be, but you're a daughter to me like how Barry was a son to Fury."

"You know I always told myself I would find my dad." Skye said "I did, and he's standing right in front of me."

Coulson and Skye gave a one-armed hug to each other as they continued to walk through the 10 inch snow. In the middle, Jemma and Trip trailed through the snow as they walked beside each other.

"I'm planning on killing him." Trip said to Jemma "Garrett."

"I don't know if that would be a good idea." Jemma replied

"He deserves it for what he did to Mike." Trip said "He turned him into a machine after burning him alive and taking a leg from him."

"Everyone deserves a second chance." Jemma said

"Do you know what it's like to have to lie to an 8 year-old boy about his dad? I know you believe that and that's what makes you a good person, Simmons." Trip said "But if Garrett killed Ward back at that Hydra base, would you have given a second chance?"

Jemma looked down in sadness and guilt as Trip abandoned the question, knowing his answer from the look on Jemma's face. In the middle of the group, May and Fitz walked silently as they didn't say a word to each other. They barely even looked at each other, Fitz finally breathed a deep sigh.

"Why did you try to kill me?" Fitz asked May "When I found the direct line."

"I wasn't." May replied bluntly

"Then what were you trying to do?" Fitz asked

"Persuade you to not tell anyone about it." May replied

"Why'd you have a gun?" Fitz continued

"I assumed someone had infiltrated the Bus, I was wrong." May finally replied "Any more questions?"

Fitz nodded.

"Okay." May finally said

Coulson kept walking until the device beeped, Coulson looked at the device as his location was in perfect sync with the supposed location of the base.

"We're here." Coulson said

"I don't see anything but terrain." Barry noted

"Sir, there's nothing here." Fitz said

"No, there's something we're missing." Coulson replied

"What could we be missing, sir?" Ward asked

"Anything!" Coulson snapped as he lifted his badge and showed it to the team, revealing the glowing coordinates "This means something, alright! This means something! We're not agents of nothing, we are agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After everything that we've been through, that carries weight. THAT CARRIES WEIGHT!"

Everyone stared at Coulson with small looks of shock at his anger, Coulson looked down in guilt. Had he gone too far for one man? Was he doing anything worth the team's time? Did he even know what he was doing? Coulson looked back up at the team.

"I'm sorry." Coulson said as he looked at his badge and chucked with anger.

There was a bullet that clashed with the badge as it flew, Barry looked around for a second. Suddenly, a turret opened out of nowhere as it opened fire on Skye and Coulson.

"NO!" Barry cried as lightning coursed all over his body and time slowed down.

Barry ran in front of Skye and Coulson as he caught the bullets, which were flying in slow motion to him. After he caught all 20 bullets, Barry sped the entire team behind some rocks to take cover from the turret.

"Thanks." Trip said a few feet away as Barry nodded

"Nobody move!" May said

"No offense May, but I think we got the idea already!" Ward yelled out

Coulson pulled a gun from his gun holster as he aimed it at the turret, but Barry stopped him.

"Wait." Barry said "I know what to do."

"Which is what exactly?" Coulson asked

"Just trust me." Barry said as he raised his hands in the air and stepped in front of the turret.

"Barry, no!" Skye cried out as she tried to jump after him but was stopped by Fitz.

"Skye don't." Fitz said "I think he's onto something."

The turret didn't open fire on Barry, it just stood there, pointed at him like a statue. Barry kept his hands in the air as he breathed a deep sigh, Come on, Fury Barry thought Prove me right.

"Identify yourself." and AI voice demanded

"Barry Allen, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." Barry said to the turret

For a moment the turret remained still, until the AI voice came from it.

"Barry Allen, level 9 access." the turret's AI said "Welcome Flash, we've been expecting you."

Suddenly, the trees surrounding Barry and the team vanished in light. They weren't real trees, just holograms covering a building. Barry and the team looked in shock as the door in front opened up. Barry and the team came from their hiding spots from the turret, Skye came next to Barry as she clutched his hand tight. Barry and the team went inside as they saw a man, who looked at Barry and Coulson in shock.

"Well if it isn't the man, the myth, the legend: Barry Allen aka The Flash aka The Fastest Man Alive aka The Greatest Avenger." the man said as he walked closer to Barry. "Sorry, I need to introduce myself: Billy."

"Nice to meet you, Billy." Barry said shaking his hand as Billy went over to Coulson.

"A pleasure to meet you, Agent Coulson." Billy said

"Glad to meet a fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent." Coulson said shaking Billy's hand "Since when has Barry been level 9?"

"Well, it was Fury's gift to him." Billy said "Plus, when Fury found out about Hydra being inside S.H.I.E.L.D. he needed at least one level 9 operative that he could trust, that would help him and the first person that came to mind was The Flash."

Everyone stared at Barry in shock, especially Skye.

"You've been level 9 this whole time?!" Skye asked

"Technically." Barry replied

"Damn Barry, you maybe the highest ranking operative I've ever met." Trip said

"Well, glad you all are here. Sorry about the whole turret fiasco, they're meant to shoot any and all high-speed metal projectiles along with their origin." Billy said

"It was my badge." Coulson said bluntly

"Oh shit." Billy muttered under his breath. "Sorry."

"Wait, so Fury's alive?" Jemma asked

"No, the rumors are true. Fury's dead." Billy said sadly

"So he must have sent the badge message before his death." Fitz realized

"Obviously." Ward said

"Well, you boys and girls get yourself suited. Flash, Agent Coulson, a word?" Billy said as he, Barry and Coulson went over to a room.

Billy closed and locked the door as he looked at Barry and Coulson with a smile on his face.

"Okay, I lied." Billy bluntly said "Fury's alive."

"What?" Barry said, looking shocked.

"Yeah, he's alive and well." Billy said

"So you just lied to our team out there." Coulson said

"I had to, Fury's orders." Billy said "The only people that can know he's alive are the three of us. Your friends can't know until after they pass orientation."

"Orientation?" Barry said, confused.

"Yeah, kind of like a polygraph." Billy explained

"But why us?" Coulson asked "Why would trust us?"

"Well, he trusted you, Agent Coulson, because he knew with this knowledge you would be able to do your best to stop Hydra." Billy said to Coulson as he turned to Barry. "And he trusted you, Flash, because you're like son to him and he knows you."

"Seriously, is Fury gonna adopt me or what?" Barry said

"The point is that until they pass orientation, your team can't know about Fury." Billy said

"Where is he?" Coulson asked

"Don't know." Billy replied

"Billy, what exactly is orientation?" Barry asked

"I'll show you." Billy said as he walked out of the door and lead Coulson, Barry and the team towards the orientation room.

Unknown S.H.I.E.L.D. Base

Orientation Room

The Orientation Room looked more like an interrogation room, there was a screen flat on the table and a chair, except it seemed to measure your blood levels, BPM and so many more things.

"This is orientation." Billy said "This chair is a state-of-the-art lie detector. It measures everything and I mean everything, skin reaction levels, oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide emissions when you exhale, pupil dilation, everything."

"That's all well and good, but how come Barry and Coulson don't have to do it?" Fitz asked

"Fury told him to give us a pass for whatever reason." Barry lied as he looked at Billy, who gave a small grateful smile.

"Ouch, painful." Skye muttered

"Alright, let the orientation begin." Billy said "Let's start with you, Agent Simmons."

4 Hours Later

"How'd it go?" Barry asked as he sat up straight on the couch and looked st Skye.

"Totally boring, but good." Skye said "Got my orientation necklace."

"Not a thing." Barry said in a sing-song voice as Skye sat next to Barry and picked up a bottle of beer.

"Drink?" Skye offered

"Sure." Barry replied as he poured two glasses of beer and handed one glass over to Skye.

"Don't have this cool stomach power that makes sure you don't get drunk or something?" Skye asked

"Stomach power? Really?" Barry asked as Skye chuckled so much, she couldn't even reach for her drink.

"Okay, increase metabolism." Skye corrected

"Yeah, I do have that power." Barry replied "Where's the rest of the team?"

"In another room, going over a plan to catch Garrett." Skye answered

"Garrett reminds me so much of Thawne." Barry said

"He does?" Skye asked

"Yeah." Barry said as he looked down "I told you that Thawne murdered my mom when I was 11, but there's something I didn't tell you."

"What?" Skye said placing a hand on Barry's shoulder "You can tell me anything."

"Thawne went back in time... to kill me, 11-year-old me." Barry said "He wanted to do that so I would be erased from existence, but future me followed him and got my younger self out. Thawne was so angry... so he thought, that if I suffered a tragedy so horrific I would never recover, never become The Flash."

"Barry, that's horrible." Skye said softly

"Yeah." Barry replied "In the end, Thawne got trapped in the past for over 15 years. He eventually realized he had to make me The Flash all over again, and he did."

"No Barry." Skye said "Thawne didn't turn you into The Flash, you did. Sure, Thawne gave you your powers. But it's what you did with them that counts. Doing something, getting that something and being that something are three very different things."

"God I love you." Barry said to Skye

"Come here." Skye said as she pulled Barry into a deep kiss.

Barry continued to kiss Skye, when suddenly, Barry's lightning coursed all over his body and he started vibrating. Barry pulled himself away from Skye, his body stopped vibrating as the lightning calmed down.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Barry said

"It's okay." Skye replied "What happened?"

"It's me." Barry said "Something happened to me in New York, like my powers got upgraded."

"How so?" Skye asked

"Every now and then, I get these high-powered surges of lightning all over my body." Barry said "It's uncontrollable."

"I don't believe that." Skye said "You can control it Barry, you just have to believe it."

"Really?" Barry asked

"Yeah." Skye replied as she went closer to Barry and kissed him, Skye pulled back and looked at him.

"I just don't want to hurt you." Barry said softly

"It's okay, I trust you." Skye said back.

Skye jumped forward at Barry and kissed him with all the love she had for him, Barry kissed Skye back as he controlled the lightning in his body. I won't lose control Barry thought to himself I won't lose control.

Trip walked in as Skye and Barry separated and stood up looking at Trip.

"What's wrong?" Barry asked

"It's the U.S Army, they found us." Trip said
