Chapter 11

Sam came out the bathroom and looked over at his brother who was sitting on his bed with his head in his hands. Neither had woke early and enjoyed the extra sleep they were able to get. It did not matter that they were getting a later start, since they would still get to Bobby's by early evening.

"Something wrong Dean?" Sam inquired innocently already knowing the answer to the question as he tried not to laugh.

"I don't want to hear it," Dean moaned as he belched and grimaced. "Do we have any Alka Seltzer?"

Sam chuckled out loud and looked in the first aid kit to find the tablets, tossing a package toward Dean.

"Thanks." Dean tried to grab it in the air only to have it fall on the bed beside him. "Damn."

"I told you not to go back for thirds or was it fourths last night," Sam chastised him as he packed his bag so they could leave. He looked to the door when a knock sounded. "Come in," he called.

"Hey guys, Mama Rues has breakfast ready for us, thought I'd let you know," Dom said. "Did you sleep okay last night?"

"I did, I don't know about Dean," Sam replied looking to his brother who was shaking a half filled bottle of water with the tablets in it. "He groaned all night long and not in a good way."

"Screw you," Dean growled before he upended the bottle and guzzled the contents.

"We'll be over shortly," Sam answered for them.

"Alright, I will let Mama Rues know," Dom replied with a nod and smirk before closing the door.

"Maybe a hot shower will help you feel better?"

"Yeah, good idea." Dean pushed his bloated body from the bed and grabbed his bag before heading into the bathroom. "I won't be long if you want to go on over. Ummm…Might better give me a little longer," Dean grimaced as he passed gas and quickly shut the door so he could get his sweats down and plop down on the commode.

"Okay, see you in a bit." Sam shouldered his duffle and headed out the door walking across the backyard to the backdoor and knocked before opening it to let himself in. "Good morning, Dean will be over shortly, he overindulged a little too much last night."

"I have just the thing for him," Mama Rues cackled as she turned to the cabinet and looked around before pulling out several bottles from her special stock. "I will mix him up one of my special drinks that will fix him right up."

"I'm sure he's going to love that," Sam snickered. He poured a cup of coffee for himself and took a seat at the table beside Dom.

"You're enjoying this aren't you?" Dom asked trying not to laugh.

"Oh, so much. He never learns no matter how many times it happens."

"Mama Rues made some homemade biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs and fresh fruit for us to enjoy before we head out."

"Sounds good," he nodded. He watched Dom get up to help Mama Rues put platters and bowls on the table and drew in a breath of the enticing aromas.

"Shall we wait on Dean?" Dom asked.

"Nope, he can have whatever is left, but honestly, I don't know where he will put it. Let's go ahead and start, Dean shouldn't be much longer."

"Alright," Dom replied.

"Here child, help yourself," Mama Rues told him serving herself and passing the platter to Sam.

"Thanks." Sam spooned eggs onto his plate and passed them down to Dom. He accepted a biscuit and split it open to pour some gravy over it. After taking several bites, Sam said, "This is great Mama Rues. You are a fantastic cook."

"Why thank you child, I've had plenty of practice over the years to get the recipes just right. Though some do not need improving on and I leave those alone."

"Well, you sure got this right. My goodness the biscuits melt in your mouth and this gravy is…Amazing."

They looked to the door when Dean let himself in. He sat his duffle over to the side and looked at them sitting around the table eating.

"Come sit child, I have something for your stomach. Drink this before you try to eat," Mama Rues told him, sitting a glass with her mixture in it at the empty chair.

"What is it?" Dean asked cautiously giving Sam a glaring look for tattling on him.

"It will make you feel better, trust me child," she urged Dean, pushing the glass closer to him.

"Go on bro, what do you have to lose?" Sam offered, hiding a smile behind his cup of coffee.

Dean picked up the glass and twirled the greenish, brown liquid around before bringing it to his nose to sniff. He wrinkled his nose and eyed the pieces of green stuff floating around in it. He drew in a deep breath and brought the glass to his lips and chugged the concoction in several long swallows.

"Shit!" Dean hissed out before he could stop himself. "Crap, sorry, sorry, didn't mean to swear."

"Oh, child, I've heard much worse in my lifetime and probably have said worse," she laughed. "Now how about some breakfast?"

Dean smacked his lips a couple of times and cocked his head when he realized his discomfort and pain was going away. He actually thought he could eat something now.

"Don't mind if I do. It smells great," he nodded picking up a platter and helping himself.

"Coffee?" Sam asked getting up to get more for himself.

"Sure," Dean answered.

"I have a bag of food leftover from last night to take with you. It should tide you over until you reach your destination. And one of your cousins sent a couple six packs of their best brew for you to take with you."

"That's kind of you Mama Rues and thank all the ones who fixed food for us last night," Dom said. "I'm sure we will enjoy it."

"Yes, that was thoughtful," Sam added. "Do thank everyone for us."

"Man, I'm glad I didn't miss this," Dean praised taking another huge bite of biscuit and gravy. "It's awesome."

"I'm glad you are enjoying the food child," Mama Rues replied patting his hand lovingly.

Sam and Dom got up to do the dishes while Dean finished eating. They packed the cars and bid Mama Rues goodbye, letting her bless them before they left. Dean took the lead and headed west again to finish the last leg of their journey.

The sign for the salvage yard loomed ahead of Dean as he slowed to turn through the gate and headed up the driveway to the house. He drove around to the front of the house and parked. They got out as Dom pulled up beside them and stopped.

"Here we are, Singer Salvage Yard," Dean called out waving his arms around as Dom slowly looked around the place with interest. "C'mon, let's go meet Bobby."

The three hunters headed up the steps and to the front door. Dean knocked loudly and waited for an answer.

"Hold your horses," a gruff, rough, voice growled from behind the door. Locks were disengaged so the door could be opened to reveal the older hunter. His eyes brightened and his expression softened when he saw his boys standing on the porch.

"Hey Bobby," Dean greeted him, offering him a small smile and allowed a brief hug.

"Boys! Well, don't just stand there, get on in here," he told them, stepping aside for them to enter.

"Hey Bobby," Sam greeted him with a hug of his own. "Bobby, this is Dominick, Dom, the hunter we told you about that we hunted with. Dom, this is Bobby, our mentor, surrogate father, and one of the best hunters out there."

"Hello sir, it is good to finally meet you," Dom said holding out his hand to shake Bobby's hand.

"Good to meet you Dom. Don't guess I need to test you with holy water or silver since my boys vouch for you," he said with a chuckle. "Nice to know another good hunter. I've got coffee in the kitchen or beer in the fridge if you boys want something to drink."

"Beer sounds good and we brought some home brewed beers with us, curtsey of Dom's cousins. I'll put them in the fridge for tomorrow," Dean told him.

"Do you boys want something to eat?"

"No, we're good; Dom's great-grandmother, Mama Rues, send food with us. We stopped along the way and had a picnic," Sam told him.

"Sam told me you come from Romania," Bobby said.

"Yes, my father was in the military and met my mother while stationed overseas. I was born here in the states but was taken back overseas when I was a couple of years old. They were killed in a bombing and I went to stay with my grandparents. They raised me and taught me the old ways and how to control and use my powers."

Bobby arched an eyebrow and looked at Sam for a moment. Sam had told him about awaking his powers and learning how to use them. Sam did not tell him everything about Dom, since he did not think it was his place to tell his story.

"You are helping Sam then."

"That I am. He is a fast learner and apt student."

"He has always craved knowledge, even when he was young. Couldn't keep him out of my books."

"You do have an impressive collection sir."

"Enough with the sir crap, it's just Bobby. Calling me sir makes me think of my old man and I ain't him."

"Alright, Bobby it shall be."

"Anything new we should know about?" Dean asked.

"Not to speak of. Helped a couple of hunters take out a couple of ghouls last week. Nasty bastards, they were. George is calling it quits after his last hunt. Got banged up pretty bad and decided to let you young pups take over."

"He was getting on in years, probably was a good idea," Sam agreed.

"You're not ready to call it quits yet, are ya Bobby?" Dean questioned.

Bobby looked at his boys and took a sip of beer as he pursed his lips before answering.

"Now how could I do that? Who would keep your asses out of trouble? Or do research for you?"

"Only you Bobby," Sam offered smiling warmly at him. "You've always been there for us and saved our asses more than I want to count."

"Yeah, what would we do without you?" Dean added. "You have more knowledge in your head than Sammy and me combined."

"And don't you forget it. So, who do you hunt with Dom?"

"Well, I usually hunt on my own, but I have teamed up with Sam and Dean and several other hunters I've come across that I trusted. I can usually judge the good ones from the bad ones."

"Good to hear you're careful and cautious. That's the best way to stay alive."

"Bobby, you got any cars in the garage that need working on?"

"Yeah, there's a couple you could get your hands dirty on if you want."

"Great, I can do that while Sammy works with Dom. Figured we'd stay around for a few days at least."

"Probably need to run into town for supplies then. I didn't get a chance after I got your call you were coming."

"Dom and I can run into town in the morning," Sam offered. "I can show him around Sioux Falls."

"Fine by me. Well, I need to finish some research for a hunter. I'll be in my office if you need me."

"Okay Bobby, I'm probably going to call it an early night for me after the drive over," Dean told him as he yawned widely and wiped his eyes.

"I'll show Dom the spare room and get our bags from the car," Sam said.

"You're a good brother. I'll be up shortly just going to stretch my legs for a bit." Dean went out the back door and walked out into the yard looking up at the stars that were coming out. He walked to the stacks of crushed cars and around to the back gate stretching his body to get the stiffness out of it.

"Just don't get used to it," Sam called over his shoulder. "Shall we?" Sam asked Dom as he got up.

"Sounds good to me. And turning in early sounds good too," Dom agreed getting up and stretching.

Sam and Dom headed for the front door to get their bags and take them upstairs. Sam showed him where the bathroom was and found clean linen to make the bed in the spare room below theirs. He let Dom use the bathroom first and went back down to get a couple bottles of water for them. Since Sam only drove a few hours, he was not as tired at Dean and Dom. He decided to update his journal before turning in.

Sam was writing in his journal when Dean came upstairs ready for bed. He used the bathroom first and joined him in the bedroom changing into some sleep clothes.

"Night bro," Dean mumbled as he climbed into bed and snuggled down between the sheets.

"Night Dean," Sam replied looking over at Dean for a moment. "I'll be done in a minute."

"Not bothering me," Dean said as he rolled over away from him and the small lamp that was on. It did not take him long before his breathing evened out and he was asleep.

Sam listened to Dean's soft snoring as he finished his journal entry. He put the book aside and slid down in his bed and turned the lamp off. It felt good to be in familiar surroundings and know they were safe. He was able to relax easier and let his mind shut down as he let Dean's gentle snoring lull him to sleep.

A/N: Now for some down time and a little training. The journey is coming to an end, but I have the third story in this trilogy ready. Thanks for coming along. I do like reviews. NC
