Blaine was stupid. Why the hell did he ask Kurt out? Of course he would never deny his crush on the young actor, but he never thought he'd do anything about it. What he thought was even more crazy was that Kurt had actually agreed to go on a date with him.
He looked at his watch and realized that it was already 4:43 PM. He had to drive to the Hummel-Hudson house to pick up Kurt.
Kurt was stupid. Why the hell did he say yes to go out with Blaine? Of course he would never deny that the high schooler was good looking and charming, but he never thought that they would be anything more than acquaintances. What he thought was even more surprising was that Blaine had asked him out. It was a bit obvious that the boy had a minor crush on him at the party, but the boy acting on it was quite a shock. He couldn't help but to wonder if saying yes was the right thing to do, since he hardly knew the boy and would be going back to LA in about seven weeks. He didn't have time for dating, especially not dating high schoolers from the other side of the country.
Did he make the right decision? Of course he didn't. His head was telling him to think about the future. He couldn't have a relationship with someone in Ohio. It'd be too risky. Long distance hardly ever work out, so why should theirs? And what if someone saw them together? Kurt knew that he had fans in Ohio, and that Blaine had a hard time with bullying. If someone saw them together, Blaine would be facing the fans and wouldn't have any privacy. His heart, on the other hand, told him to go on the date with Blaine and enjoy it. There must've been something about Blaine. Kurt Hummel had been drunk for an uncountable amount of times, but after he broke up with Sebastian, he had never done anything remotely sexual. Why did his drunken self make out with Blaine of all people?
His thoughts were interrupted by the doorbell. Kurt straightened out his jacket and went to open the door, revealing Blaine, handsome as ever.
"Hi," Blaine greeted the young actor, trying hard to hide his nerves. "Ready to go?"
"Hey you," Kurt greeted back and put on his sunglasses. "I most definitely am."
"-and then Haydn and I went into Elliott's closet and hid everything when he slept," Kurt explained. "When he woke up, he was pissed and refused to be near us for a week." Both boys burst out laughing at the story. The date had started off as awkward, the two of them sitting awkwardly in a secluded booth at Breadstix, but the awkwardness passed. Now they were talking as though they had known each other for a longer time than they had, sharing old memories and more details of their oh so different lives.
"I want to ask you something," Blaine announced and Kurt nodded for him to continue. "I heard that there'll be a movie adaption of Roses Dipped In Blood, the first book of the book series The Knife In The Heart, and there are rumors that you're getting the role of the main character Griffin Hill. Is that true?"
"I've heard about that movie," Kurt nodded, "but unfortunately I can't say if I'm going to be in it or not. You'll have to find out in three days when the cast is revealed."
Blaine nodded. "I'm sorry for asking."
"Hey," Kurt said and reached out his hand, taking Blaine's hand in his own on the table. "It's alright. You're on a date with an actor, so of course you're allowed to ask questions. It's just not all questions that I'm allowed to answer."
"I know that, Kurt, I really do," Blaine sighed. "It's just a bit hard to know what to ask and what not to ask."
"Then ask away," Kurt smiled. "I can say what I can and cannot answer. Now tell me about your song selection for the karaoke night at Rachel's. We're carrying on the Hollywood theme and I have yet to hear you sing." He bounced in his seat a bit and Blaine laughed at his childlike behavior.
Blaine sighed. "It's hard to choose. I think I want to go with Candle in the Wind."
"Elton John, I see," Kurt said with a nod and a smile. "Good choice."
"Do you plan on singing a song?" Blaine asked out of curiosity. "The theme is Hollywood, so who would be better at that than Hollywood's own Kurt Hummel?"
Kurt's smile disappeared. "I don't sing."
"Oh, okay then," Blaine said and looked at their linked hands. "Kurt, what happens after tonight?"
"Huh?"
"What are we going to become?" he elaborated. "Are we going to try to forget that this date ever took place?"
"Of course not!" Kurt exclaimed and squeezed his hand.
"What are we going to be then?"
"I don't know," Kurt said.
"Kurt Hummel, do you want to be my boyfriend?" Blaine asked and felt the nerves rise.
"I don't know," Kurt repeated. "I need time to think about it."
Oh...
"Thank you so much for taking me out tonight," Kurt said as they approached his front door. There hadn't been much talk after Blaine asked Kurt to be his boyfriend and Kurt said that he needed time to think.
"It was alright?" Blaine asked with wide eyes. "It wasn't a total disaster?"
Kurt shook his head with a smile. "It was better than anything my ex did when we were together." He grimaced. "Unless there was any paparazzi near us."
"It was Sebastian Smythe, right?" Blaine asked.
"Uh huh," Kurt confirmed. "My biggest mistake ever was dating him."
"Well, I'm not like him," Blaine said, in his head he added: I'm not famous. I'm not an actor nor a model. I'm not as attractive. I can't give you all the things that he could.
"I know," Kurt nodded. "And thank god for that. He leaned in and gave Blaine a chaste kiss. "See you tomorrow at Rachel's," he said with a wave after they pulled away, entering his house.
Best night ever, Blaine thought as he walked back to his car.
