"Hogwarts?" Regulus asked sharply.

"Yeah. We need to finish our education" Ginny nodded and rolled her eyes mockingly.

"I believe we'll be sixth years" Hermione smiled.

"Ah. I'm a fifth. You'll be in my brother's year..." Regulus's eyes misted over at his own mention of his brother. He straightened up, and his body language changed from relaxed to formal in a moment. "I suggest you stay away from them."

After a small pause, Regulus continued, "I seem to recall a rumour your House usually resides with the Ravenclaws, similiarly to the Blacks and Slytherin?"

"Yes, but our mother was a Slytherin. Maybe she went to school with yours? Zion née Gaunt?" Luna asked.

If it was possible, Regulus seemed to get even more stiff. "Yes, I believe she did. I've heard some stories"

"Really?" Ginny jumped forwards and rested her elbows onto her knees. "Mother never told us anything about her Hogwarts days. Said it would make us want to go even more."

"Well..." Regulus started, seemingly thinking. " They had some sort of rivalry. Your mother being a Gaunt, and mine being a Black. Two important Dark Magic families. But it wasn't just a grades rivalry, I think. Your mother wasn't expected to conform to an arranged marriage, as she had siblings, no?"

"Yes, Phaezon and Ariella" Hermione supplied, having memorised her family tree.

"So your mother could date whomever she fell in love with? Well your father was quite... known throughout the female population of Hogwarts. Not excluding my mother I suppose."

"Ah. What's it called Mione, in those Muggle movies you watch? A love triangle?" Ginny asked, her eyes shining with unbridled glee.

"Yeah, Gin. So what else do you know?" Hermione raised her brow in a challenge.

"Your mum was head girl. That's all though. If you want to find out more, the teachers would probably have some sort of anecdotes to share" Regulus smiled slightly, as if he was remembering something far away, like a dream from a few nights before.

"Well then why was she being so nice to us. Your mother?" Luna stated rather then asked.

"Manipulation. She needs you. You'll see how nasty she can be"

The cart came to a stop, and the group clicked back out of Gringotts with their pockets full of galleons.

Sirius and James hopped into their cart and waited patiently for the goblin to finish up with the coal.

"Wow. Can you believe how those birds stood up to Walburga?" Sirius said, running a hand through his hair.

"Yeah I know. I've never seen someone have the guts" James laughed. It really was an admirable feat, to stand up to that dragon.

"Suppose that's what happens when you have Gaunt blood." Sirius grinned.

"Gaunt blood? Sorry mate, but I never memorised the tree in my house like you had to"

Sirius's face contorted into one of thoughtfulness before starting " Merope Gaunt ran away from her deranged father and brother with a Muggle, who left her to give birth to their half blood son. She left the poor bastard alone and nearly died giving birth, no one knows where he is. Merope then met someone unknown, gave birth to Phaezon, Ariella and Zion Gaunt choosing to give her children her name instead of the father's. Phaezon died a few years ago of dragon pox, but his daughter Xanthia is in the Order. Ariella married Zayne Fawley, but Fawley died just before Kieran, you know the third year, was born. Zion married Octavius Nettle, giving birth to Hermione, Ginevra and Luna Nettle"

"Quite some family history you've there. I couldn't tell you past Grandma's mum" James shrugged.

Just then, the goblin leapt over the side of the cart and it sprang into action. The cart shot forward along the old rickety track, the speed of lightning. The track started to take them upwards, before they suddenly plummeted down, arms in the air and shrieks echoing throughout the vaults. As they reached the bottom of the drop, the cart flew through a waterfall, soaking them to the core.

After the rollercoaster that is wizarding banking, the boys collected their money and returned to Diagon Alley.

"Where do you think Rem is? I asked Wormtail to come but he's out with his mum this holiday. Spain I think" James slung his arm around his friend.

"I dunno Prongs. Probably Flourish and Blotts. You know our Moony"

So the two set off for the bookstore, winking at girls, nodding at peers and stopping to say hello to family friends. Once they'd got inside the werewolf's favourite shop, they found him immediately in the arithmancy aisle. But instead of browsing in the larger tombs, he was looking through the gaps.

"How are we spying on, Peeping Tom?" The boys said together, sneaking up in the sandy haired boy.

Used to this kind of behaviour (and having heard them from a mile away with his wolf senses) , Remus just muttered "New girls"

James stood on his tip toes and looked over Remus's shoulder, just to see the Nettle girls."Oh we've met them. We'll introduce you Moons. You don't always have to watch from afar..." he called over his shoulder.
