Chapter 10! We hit the double digits! I feel like I should celebrate. Maybe buy a cake? Cupcakes? Or maybe I should just celebrate with another iced coffee to keep me going. Yeah, I think I'll do that.

Jade walked through the doors of the school making sure to let everyone see the scowl that was already present on her face. She had practically no sleep because all she could think about was the kiss. And Beck. She didn't know if she should tell Beck at all. Jade could only hope that a miracle happened and that Cat had decided to skip school so she wouldn't have to see her. But seeing as though Cat never skipped class for anything didn't really give Jade all that much hope.

She went to her locker to throw some things in there real quick. She still had a little time to she pulled out her phone and quirked up an eyebrow. An email saying that Sikowitz wouldn't be able to attend class due to some personal reason and that they all could just wander the hall quietly. She audibly groaned. That was just great for her. Everyone she didn't want to see would have a whole hour of free time.

She sighed and slammed her locker shut and walked herself to the steps, taking a seat there.

Tori, the last person she wanted to see was unfortunately the first person she heard from her drama class. "oh man!" Jade her footsteps coming toward her but closed her eyes and just hoped that it was someone else. She heard someone clear their throat.

"Sikowitz isn't coming!" Tori said with many hand gestures. "Is that why you're sitting here?" The brunette asked taking her seat on the steps as well.

"What do you think Sherlock?"

"Sherlock? What about Sherlock?" A curly-headed boy asked, coming into view. The girls both shook their heads at him. He shrugged and took his seat on the steps. The bell had rung already so the students were starting to clear up.

"What's up y'all?" Andre piped in next. Coming from above the stairs, taking his own seat. "What do you think Sikowitz's 'personal reason' for skipping class is?" Andre laughed

"Probably got his head stuck in his pants" Rex joked. No one laughed. He stayed silent until the next person came up.

"There you guys are.." Beck. All of them smiled except Jade, who wore a frown. She wondered if she should just pick up and leave. She could bet that Beck hasn't even told anyone they broke up yet in hopes of them repairing it before they even had a chance to tell anyone. Beck took a seat next to Jade, much to her discomfort. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to notice.

The others shrugged it off and continued talking to one another. Still no Cat...that's a good sign, right? Jade wondered.

Beck leaned a little toward the goth to start their own private conversation. "Are you okay..?"

Her lips pursed together with a nod. "I'm perfectly fine Beck"

"Can we talk then?"

"No."

He nodded sadly and looked away. He knew they could fix what they had. He loved her. He wouldn't let her break their relationship, he wouldn't allow it.

Just then a certain redhead came from the corner of the hallway. Her face already bright with a huge smile, and not one of those smiles that she just always has plastered on her face. This one was a real, genuine smile. One that actually radiated off of her and bounced right in your chest.

"Hi!" She skipped all the way to the steps and took her seat on the step below Jade.

"Heya Cat!"

"What's up little red!"

"You seem happy"

Tori noticed and stated. Cat nodded eagerly. "I am!"

Tori laughed, "Why are you so happy?"

Cat looked down and pretended to wipe something off her shoe when she felt her face go red. She hoped the others didn't notice. "No reason!"

They nodded confused but still started another conversation shortly after, even Jade pitched in.

Jade stopped her focus on the conversation when she felt another hand grab her own, starting to play with her own fingers and rings. Jade looked down at the person who's hands were in question. She seemingly looked as though she didn't even know her hands were so innocently playing with Jades.

Cat giggled at something Rex said, gripping Jade's fingers a little tighter. No one could really tell that Jade's breathing had quickened, they were all pretty vocal with their conversation. Jade grabbed Cat's hands in an attempt to grab the redhead's attention.

Cat looked up to face Jade with a smile.

"We have to talk" Jade stated, dragging Cat with her to a janitor's closet that wasn't in view of the others. How many janitors did they need, both girls thought. Jade shut the door behind her and locked it.

"What's up?" Cat asked happily.

"Cat I think we should talk about what happened yesterday" Cat made an 'O' with her mouth and nodded. Jade was going to speak but she got distracted watching Cat bite her lip in confusion.

"What is there to talk about? We kissed. That's it."

Cat, seeing Jade's lack of response or facial expressions caused her to became worried. Cat thought that since Jade had kissed her then maybe she did like her. That is what people who like each other do, after all. They kiss each other.

Now she wasn't so sure. What if Jade thought it was a mistake?

"I understand Cat but I just...I don't know! I'm really confused!" Jade expressed, her eyebrows pulled down in frustration. "I still love Beck!" Jade tempted. The dark-haired girl cringed when she realized what she said. She felt as though she said it more to herself, trying to convince herself that she still loved him and that he was right.

Unfortunately, Cat didn't seem to catch on to Jade's clear false hope as she developed a frown. "But.."

Cat knew her tears wouldn't take long to surface on her cheeks. She had been so dumb! Dumb Cat, just like always. She had been so sure that Jade meant something with that kiss. Why else would she kiss her?

Whether Cat liked it or not, she was sure that her crush on Jade was more than painfully obvious. So if Jade knew then..why would she kiss her? The thoughts made their way from Cat's brain all the way to her small feet, making her burst through the door to the nearest bathroom, locking herself in. She couldn't bear to even hear Jade's protests from behind her.

Cat could feel her tears freely trickling down her cheek. Escaping softly, leaving soft tickles on her face.

And to think just yesterday it had been perfect. After Cat left Jade's house she ran all the way home, not being able to contain her excitement. The rest of that day was perfect. Even though her brother had clumsily dropped a glass plate in her room, shattering it, she was determined not to let anything bother her. And she didn't. She spent the whole day with a beaming smile on her face while every once in awhile her fingers would drift to her own lips. She had been happy because she knew that it was Jade who kissed her. She thought it meant that Jade had liked her.

Guess she was wrong. Jade had spat out clearly that she still loved Beck.

"Where's Cat?" Robbie asked Jade when she made her way back to them on the stairs and sat.

"Why would I know?" She snapped at him, changing the demeanor of the chattery group.

Robbie's eyes widened and he raised his hands up, "I just figured because you l-left with her!"

Jade just glared at him, making his back away. They continued with their talking, a little softer and hushed than before. Beck threw a glance at Jade.

Beck wondered what had happened between the pair. He didn't worry too much about it because he knew they were always fighting about something. In a matter of hours, they would always become best friends again. If anything, the best shot he had at getting back together with Jade was through Cat. He would ask her to help him get them back together. He was positively sure she wouldn't mind. He remembered her always saying how cute he and Jade looked together. He always agreed.

Jade knew she should go back to the bathrooms. Maybe she wouldn't be let in but she could at least try, right? She hated when Cat was upset, and now Cat is upset with her which makes it all seem worse. She wouldn't have kissed Cat if it meant this happening. She didn't even want to like Cat. Cat of all people? She chose to like Cat?!

She knew she couldn't really help it though. Cat was just different than anyone else. Her genuine love truly baffled Jade at times. Her smile always felt welcoming and warming.

Jade got up suddenly and walked to the locked bathroom door. She took a deep breath and knocked softly. "Cat? Open the door please.."

Jade could hear the faucet stop and some shuffling. "Umm...Cat's not here...she went to...Alaska!" Cat winced at her own horrible lie. For once she wished she was gifted with the skill of lying.

"Cat, please? I don't want you to be upset...I just...I said the wrong things. I just want to talk"

"We can talk through the door?"

"Face to face" Cat sighed. Should she even open the door? Jade did seem honest.

Reluctantly her hand moved to the lock and twisted it. Cat opened the door slowly and let Jade in.

Immediately Jade closed the door behind her and hugged Cat.

The girls pulled away simultaneously.

Why was Jade being so confusing! She kissed her, then said she loved beck, and now she was here hugging Cat! Cat could almost bet that Jade knew of her crush so why was she confusing her? Surely it wasn't on purpose because Jade would never do that to her. "What do you need"

Jade seemed taken back by Cat's strong words. "Cat I-I really don't know how to...to do this you know? I've been with Beck for so long that I just don't know how to do anything else anymore. The fact is...I like you Cat. I'm not so sure about you but that's how I feel, and-"

"You like me?!" Cat interrupted. Jade smiled a little and nodded. Jade moved to open her mouth but Cat interrupted yet again by smashing her lips against the goths. The bell suddenly rang making both girls jump from their place.

"I like you too!" Cat practically sang out while grabbing her backpack and applying more lipgloss. Strawberry.
