The month flew by and both Carla and Peter were feeling much happier within themselves as well as their relationship which seems stronger than ever now. She was happy that they were getting back to being them but she wasn't sure how long it was last because she didn't want to think about the possibility of things happening which meant that they were once again at each other's throats.

Today they were going to be heading home, he was a month sober now and she was worried that if they were going to be living in the pub then he may be tempted, that was her main worry. They packed their bags then headed off to the airport and it wasn't long before they touched down in England again and went straight home and into bed in an attempt to try and keep things normal, keep things calm.

The day after they arrived back Peter suggested they did something together, she needed to work but she could tell how much he was trying to distract himself so she said that she would spend the afternoon with him which left him feeling happier. Of course with Carla being back at work, Sarah had to ask her questions which made her slightly uneasy over the whole thing but most of all she would accept knowing that Sarah was a good friend of hers.

"Come on then wipe that grin off your face" Sarah rolls her eyes sitting down at the chair in front of Carla who purposely flashes her wedding ring "What is that?!"

"What do you think it is?"

"No way...did you get married?!"

"Yep we did and before you ask, we're having a proper ceremony some time this year with close family and friends" she smiles as Sarah nods "Seriously though it's amazing, we're amazing, Peter was so lovely to me it really felt as if we put all the bad aside"

"Well I am very happy for you" Sarah smiles, Carla nods slowly biting her lip

"How are things with Adam then?" Carla questions, Sarah smiles slightly "Hey whats happened?"

"Oh no nothing bad" Sarah chuckles causing Carla to raise an eyebrow "Quite the opposite actually"

"You're back together?!" Carla exclaims but Sarah hushes her instantly causing Carla to bite her lip

"Shh" she hisses "No one knows its just our secret so dont tell anyone, we're just trying again and yeah, I love him"

"Well I hope you make it work" Carla smiles slightly as Sarah nods, Nick enters the office "We should probably work before we get shouted at"

"Yeah, I agree" she chuckles slightly...

They all worked for a bit, Nick was snappy but neither Carla nor Sarah said anything knowing what he was going through, they really didn't have a nerve and they didn't want to inflict anything onto him because losing a child cut deep, both of them knew that. Soon came the time for Carla to meet Peter at the cab office as he was meant to be taking her for lunch which made her feel like things were finally getting back on track, so she headed over there and was greeted by Tim who said that Peter had been gone ages and that he wasn't answering his calls which left her worried internally for him and the fact that he may have fallen off the wagon again. She walked out of the cab office and to the pub, not looking where she was going she bumped into Adam.

"Oh god sorry!" she exclaims, he raises his eyebrows at her "Oh hello Adam, I'm so sorry I was in a world of me own"

"Hey it's ok, you probably have a lot on your mind, anything that I can help you with?"

"Um I dont suppose you've seen Peter he was meant to be taking me for lunch the only thing is Tim said he couldn't get hold of him"

"No I haven't sorry, you dont think he's fallen off the wagon again?"

"Oh id dont know Adam, that man is a mystery half of the time..." she trails off biting her lip, Adam sighs slightly "But I love him and that's what matters"

"Seems it" he nods to her wedding ring which she chuckles at "You have been busy"

"Yeah it was lovely, he was lovely, we loved it, it was just magical and amazing I couldn't ask for more, I think we finally feel as if we've connected again"

"That's really good" Adam smiles, Carla nods slowly biting her lip before smiling "If I see him then I'll send him your way"

"Thank you Adam" she smiles watching him walk off, he smirks at her then she smirks back before walking into the pub and into the back room, raising her eyebrows at Peter who was sitting on the sofa, she slings her bag down by the sofa and sits beside him draping her arms around his middle and her legs over his "Hey"

"Dont lecture me"

"I won't" she smiles slightly kissing him on the cheeks, she sighs at the smell of whisky radiating from him "Baby..."

"I'm sorry" he blurts out, she sighs bringing his head into her chest "I couldn't-"

"You dont have to explain, I get it ok, I do...you need to speak to me so I can help" she smiles supportively knowing that if she shouted at him it would get them nowhere no matter how angry she was with him knowing that one drink could kill him "Why now eh Peter?"

"I dont want to talk about it" he gets up and leans on the mantlepiece above the fireplace, she sighs in response not knowing what else she could do "Just go Carla, I want to be alone"

"Ok keep pushing me away Peter, I'm trying to help you can't you see that?" she questions gently, he turns to face her, she could sense the booze angering him "I just want to help, please let me"

"No!" he shouts "You dont get it you never will get it"

"How much have you had to drink?" she avoids his statement causing him to groan in annoyance "Tell me how much"

"It doesn't matter Carla!" he replies angrily, she sighs approaching him but he physically pushes her away causing her to chuckle slightly

"You really need to stop this pity party Peter, there are other things which are important in life you know, like our relationship like our love for each other, like our wedding when it happens and you're here hell-bent on drinking yourself to death, maybe think about your actions"

"Just go Carla and dont come back"

"Dont come back?" she chuckles slightly, "I think you're forgetting that my dad owns this place"

"I'll go then" he states grabbing his jacket and leaving the room

"Dont you dare!" she states running after him and grabbing his hand and using all of her strength to pull him into her body, he kisses her passionately on the lips, she does the same and he immediately picks her up and pushes her against the wall as they continue to kiss "Stop"

He continues to kiss her pulling at her clothes

"Stop!" she whimpers and he pulls away before running away, she sighs in relief catching her breath; keeping herself calm was more important now

"What happened?" Jenny questions walking into the hallway, Carla gulps shaking her head "He isn't-"

"He is" she knows what was going to be said "I dont know what to do Jenny, I really dont"

"You'll get there kid, why dont you have a nice bath then I'll wait up with you" she suggests, Carla shakes her head picking up her phone and looking at the messages and sighing

"No it doesn't matter, Sarah wants me to take this meeting tonight I think I might just go, Peter's not in the mood for me to be around him right now, I seem to be making it worse-"

"I'm sure that's not true"

"Oh it is" she confirms picking up her bag and heading to the stairs "I'm going to get ready, if he comes back dont bother with him, I'll deal with him later"

"Ok well I'll try my best to not leave him in the path of temptation"

"Thanks" Carla mutters running up the stairs and into the bedroom she shared with Peter, she closes the door and falls to the floor, her head rested on her arms which were resting on her knees, her legs pulled up to her chest as she cried before standing up and walking over to where her ultrasound picture was sitting, she picks it up and kisses the picture wondering why on earth she was putting herself through Peter's drinking again and the stress it caused her, she thought this time would be different but it wasn't, it was far from it, it was the same, that was something she had to think about...

Carla eventually found the strength to get ready, she made she was dressed up and that she was perfect, her makeup and hair immaculate as well as the clothes she was wearing; singling out an emerald green dress she headed out to the bar where she was meeting her client. She got a taxi into town and then sat at the bar waiting for her client, her phone in her hand in an attempt to entertain herself as well as hoping for a message from Peter but of course as she predicted there was nothing which left her feeling rather anxious as well as annoyed at him for pushing her away and running away. She got a phone call and of course, her client cancelled which left her even more annoyed, she decided to have a few more drinks anyway as going home really wasn't appealing to her with the worry that Peter would be there and drunk.

"A rum and coke please"

"Adam?" Carla questions as Adam rolls his eyes "What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing having a drink?"

"Answer my question first" she states cheekily, he just smirks slightly before glancing into his glass

"An old haunt isn't it" he mutters, she raises her eyebrows "Anywhere to escape domesticity"

"You and Sarah" she places her hand on his arm, he smiles sadly and nods downing his drink "Did you have an argument?"

"Yeah I'm leaving her to cool off at home" he sighs, Carla nods slowly picking up her drink "Can I buy you a drink?"

"Go on then if it'll make you feel better" she smirks causing him to laugh "And by the way, I started drinking when the alcoholic hubby went AWOL"

"Peter done another runner then?"

"Yeah he has, thought he could take advantage by kissing me and trying to instigate sex"

"Idiot" Adam mutters, Carla smiles slightly "Are you ok?"

"Yeah I'm fine, I am it's just I want to help him just he wouldn't let me in to understand what was going on" she shrugs slightly tracing her finger around the rim of her glass "I should probably get back"

"No dont!" he states, she raises her eyebrows "Stay?"

"It does seem better than going home i must admit" she sighs slightly sitting back down in her seat and picking up her glass again "So what happened between you and Sarah then?"

"Oh it was something of nothing I don't really know and it doesn't matter" Adam sighs, Carla nods slowly biting her lip "It's just annoying we're picking fights with each other after everything you would have thought that we would try you know"

"I get you, I know me and Peter have our fair share of arguments, petty some serious" she shrugs, Adam nods slowly "I'm sure you'll fix it though, work through it"

"Maybe" he chuckles glancing to her drink "So when did you start drinking?"

"Oh I got the go-ahead from my keyworker the other day, I didn't want to tell Peter as I wanted to avoid temptation for him" she shrugs

"Oh he hasn't has he?"

"Yeah he has, won't stop, he didn't even try and hide it from me" she sighs biting her lip "Sometimes I question whether it's worth it"

"You two are good together, you've been through so much dont throw it away"

"Can't help but think it's not worth it, you know" she whispers trying to control her tears "I know we'll be fine in the end but right now I just want to get bladdered"

"You and me both, do you want to move on?" he questions, she bites her lip and nods sliding off her bar stool and grabbing her bag she follows Adam out of the bar and they walk down the street to another "Peter shouldn't treat you the way he does"

"Oh I know"

"No, really" he responds, she raises an eyebrow "You're successful-"

"Successful being handed a factory from my dead husband, successful killing my brother in law by having an affair with him-"

"Dont put yourself down" he smiles slightly taking her hand he drags her into a bar and she giggles as they approach the bar "Shots?"

"That a bit risky I haven't had a proper boozing session in over a year, I'm probably such a lightweight now" she smirks, Adam rolls his eyes

"Dont worry I'm no better" he states before turning to the barman and ordering a series of shots, "Here two for you"

"Oh thank you" she smiles downing them, he looks on impressed at how she didnt wince "What?"

"You didnt even wince and you call yourself a lightweight" he tuts downing his shots she just cackles taking his hand and dragging him to the dancefloor, she wraps her arms around his nack and he rests his hands on her hips as they sway gently with each other on the dancefloor, she bites her lip and he does the same they both laugh slightly before swaying again gently "It's good to see you happy"

"And you" she grins slightly causing him to smirk "I remember when me and Peter could be like this, moments like that now seem like a distant memory"

"Well I'm always happy to recreate them for you" he smiles, she blushes slightly running her fingers through his hair, he leans in and brushes his lips against hers, she accepts, their tongues massaging each others until they both pull away "Do you want to take this elsewhere?"

"Yeah" she nods taking his hand and leaving the dancefloor, she giggles as they run out of the bar and along the pavement, he smirks pulling her into an alleyway as she releases a throaty cackle; the mixture of booze, hatred towards her partner and the feeling of intense anger and sadness which will no doubt end up being a regret for the morning after...
