Yay, another 2 A.M. update... I sleep I swear (I fell asleep early and woke up) But anyway I felt I should try to get this out soon since I'm aware some of you might be confused. Hehe... don't know if it was clear or not but when Lyric said that the tests were hers, she was talking about when she found pregnancy tests(positive) on her desk. She'd thought they were her own and tossed them out, but those were Blossom's who'd misplaced them. Anyway, sorry that wasn't clear but please enjoy!
Chapter Nine
Twin Talk
"You wanna talk about it?"
"... no,"
"Okay,"
She didn't want to force any answers from her twin, but eventually, she'd have to try. Blossom had never shown interest in anyone, let alone date and get knocked up for what she knew. And who!? Who in the world had caught the attention of her sister who'd rather play the piano for the rest of her life then get in a relationship.
Lyric's train of thought broke hearing another sniffle coming from her sister. After she admitted to the confusing truth of the situation, Blossom had completely broken down. Seeing her sister just needed to cry, Lyric had sat down on her bed, hugging her gently while she cried into her dress. They'd died down, but on occasion, she'd hear a weak sniffle or two which interrupted her many questions.
"Can I ask why you put them on my desk?" Lyric asked. She didn't want to push her but she needed answers.
Wiping her tears away, Blossom left her head rested on her sister's chest."I didn't mean to, but it was late and I-I just put them down. I forgot about them, and didn't want you to see them,"
"It's okay Bloss," Lyric assured her, gently rubbing her back. Her mind returned to the test she'd seen on her desk."The second one?"
Blossom was silent, hugging her sister harder.
"You don't have to talk yet," Lyric told hair, whipping her hair from her face."When you're ready we will,"
She would admit that her twin's silence did bug her slightly. The questions with zero answers were burning through her brain, but she reminded herself of how she'd been. She'd hated the questions her mom had had to ask her(being a nurse) at the hospital. Talking about your intimate life with your mother who happens to be your nurse isn't the more exciting conversation. And even after that, simple questions from her brother and Louis caught her off guard. Of course, both were just being sweet but questions about what the baby would look like, when the baby would come, what the baby's name would be, if the baby would be a boy or girl, all caused stress to overwhelm her.
Nevertheless, she couldn't help but wonder how far along she was? Who knew? Who was the dad? Did she know the dad? Did the dad even know? How long had she'd known? What was she thinking? It was obvious she wasn't happy, but did she want to keep it? Would their babies get to be fr-
"Leery,"
The sound of her nickname called out by her twin was nerving and she was genuinely surprised. It had been who knows how long since Blossom called her by her nickname and she couldn't help but feel happy at the simple name.
"Ya?" she asked, blue eyes looking down at her.
"I'm sorry,"
Lyric raised an eyebrow at the quiet proclamation."What are you sorry for?"
"For saying such mean things. None of it's true, I-I was just so mad,"
"It's okay Bloss-"
"No. No, it's not. I was a bitch and I said horrible things to you. You didn't deserve that, you don't deserve that. I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you. I'm really sorry Leery. I don't deserve forgiveness but I really sorry."
A small smile played her lips as she twirled her sister's long hair around her fingers."Of course, you deserve forgiveness, and of course, I forgive you." Yes, the things her sister had said had affected her and stung, but now it was clear they had just been words of anger, not truth.
"Thanks," Blossom said, voice quiet and uncertain." They apply to me more than you," she mumbled, something that was obviously not meant to be said aloud.
"What do you mean?" she asked, confused by the mumble." Bloss?" she asked when her twin was simply silent.
"You're not a slut Leer," Blossom said, hugging her sister as she fought tears again."I'm more of one,"
"What?" Lyric question, caught in confusion again. She frowned, stroking her sister's hair as she felt the girl slinging to her."Blossom, I don't want yo force anything out of you, but I need you to explain some things because I know for a fact you're not-"
"I am,"
By the way her sister spoke, she knew she wasn't exaggerating things. Lyric frowned, sighing as she was left unsure what to say or do."Bloss, what happened?"
"I needed to feel something,"
"What?" Lyric asked, having expected a similar answer like she was actually exaggerating.
"After you and Hugo got together, it felt like I'd lost my sister and best friend. I don't know, I can't blame you guys but it was hard and recently it just got so much harder to deal with. So I went on a date. I should've known he didn't want anything but to get with me, but I needed to feel like someone cared."
"Oh Bloss of course I care," she assured her, giving her an assuring pat on the head."Just because Hugo and I are dating doesn't mean I'm not your sister. We'll always be twins."
"I know, and I knew that, but that still wasn't enough."
Lyric frowned, trying to push the guilt away since it was true that over the years she had stopped hanging out with her sister. She hadn't been trying to ditch her, but she could see how it hurt."Did he hurt you?"
"No,"
"Can I ask who he is?"
"... no,"
The silence was annoying as neither knew how to continue the awkward and surprising conversation."Do you plan on telling him?"
"Telling him what?" Blossom asked, eyes peering up at her whilst Lyric remained confused.
"That you're pregnant."
She'd never seen the color in someone's face fade so quickly, but for her twin, she turned bright white in a matter of seconds. Saying nothing, Blossom curled into a fetal position, head still resting on her sister's chest as she mentally beat herself. For a moment, Lyric was confused, but thinking over her twin's reaction it snapped into place.
Blossom wasn't pregnant. Not anymore.
"It's okay Blossom," she cooed, holding her sister close. Now things were starting to make sense.
"I'm s-sorry," she cried, tears streaming from her ocean eyes.
"Stop apologizing," Lyric whispered, rubbing her sister's back as she cried uncontrollably. She couldn't believe that all of this had happened to her sister over just a few weeks. Of course, she didn't know the details of what happened or even when her sister found out she was pregnant or got an abortion, but she could tell her twin wasn't alright. She wasn't sure what to do. She knew she would keep hugging her and telling her it was okay, but what could she do beyond that? If Blossom didn't want to she wouldn't tell their parents, but shouldn't they know something as important as this? She was torn and didn't know if she should got with her gut and tell her parents, or honor her twin's current wishes. Luckily, she wouldn't have to make that choice.
She hadn't heard the door of the apartment opening, but she surely noticed when the door to their bedroom opened."How was the-" their dad's voice cut off as he clicked on the room night, shocked to see one of his daughter's sobbing while the other tried to console them."What's wrong?" he asked, worriedly, sitting down on the bed.
Lyric looked at him with a nervous expression, not sure what she should say. While her dad's eyes searched her for some answers, Lyric chose to remain silent. she let go of her sister who's sobbing didn't end. Luka instantly hugged her, holding her close to him like she was 5.
Kagami stopped at the door, both her and Olive looking in with matching confused brown gazes." What happened?" she questioned, hurrying in.
Blossom tried speaking but her words came out as cries as she repeatedly apologized."Sweetie you don't have to apologize," Luka said, gazing at his wife with concern running across his face.
"Lyric what happened?" Kagami asked her in a serious tone, letting her know she didn't mean business.
Lyric looked at her sister who looked at her with pleading eyes. Overwhelmed, Lyric shakingly stood up, inhaling sharply. She grabbed the spare pregnancy test from weeks earlier her sister had forgotten about, holding it with all of her strength. Setting it in her mom's hand, she leaned close, barely able to get the words out."She's not anymore," she whispered, only able to say that.
Lucky for her, her nurse mom knew exactly what she meant.
Kagami froze for a brief moment, Luka still mumbling what was wrong as he tried to console Blossom. Moving closer, Kagami set the test beside her, holding her daughter close."It's okay Bloss, it's okay,"
"I'm sorry," she said through long cries of self-shame and guilt."I-I'm so sorry,"
"You don't have to apologize," Kagami said, rubbing her back. One hand continuing the slow steady motions, she set the test beside her husband, watching as it clicked what had happened.
"What happened?" Oliver asked from the doorway, frowning at the sight of one of his older sister's crying.
"Nothing Ollie," Lyric said, setting her little brother on her hip, something that would be impossible soon.
"Why is Blossom crying?" he asked, watching closely as both their parents tried to get the girl to calm down.
Lyric frowned, walking down the short hall that led out to the living room." Blossom's just sad and Mommy and daddy are trying to make her feel better." she said, voice hicking as she said, mommy and daddy. It felt wrong to think about at the moment, but she still had a hard time believing the little baby inside of her would call her mommy. Guilt instantly ran over her, as she heard her sister sobbing, but she couldn't help but feel excited by the fact she'd be a mom.
Oliver pouted, unsatisfied with the answer. Smile spreading at the sight of her brother's messy hair that could never manage to sit, she spoke quietly."Did you guys have fun tonight?"
Excitement instantly showed up on the child's face and he nodded his head one too many times."Ya! We got ice cream after the movie and guess what I saw?"
"What?" she laughed, always adoring it when her little brother acted like a child.
"We saw a superhero!" he declared boldly.
"Really?" she asked in a serious voice. From what she knew it had been over a decade, nearly two since superheroes roamed the city.
"Ya, it was really fast and red like Spiderman," he said, appearing happier than ever.
Ladybug? she wondered. She didn't know much of Ladybug and Chat Noir and all of the other superheroes, but enough to be aware Ladybug was bright red." That's so cool Ollie," she said as her brother continued his rant on his evening. Her attention changed as she spotted her mom exiting the bedroom she and her sister shared. By simply listening Blossom's cries had certainly died down but the occasional whimper was present.
She was worried about her twin and knew one thing. If she ever met that guy, he was dead.
