Andrew got down next to the boy. "What hurts?"

"A lot of things… but mainly my head…" Varian sniffed.

"Here," Andrew held out a hand and Varian accepted. As he helped him up, he continued to speak. "I'm sure Clementine has something she could mix to help that."

With that, Andrew led him down the hall and into Clementine's lab.

"I don't get it. Clementine can read all the books she wants," Varian pouted.

"You don't mess with Clementine, buddy. You should probably listen to Gordon about training a bit more often. That way you can defend yourself and he'll leave you alone. It isn't fair how he beats you like that so often."

"Aren't you over him?"

Andrew sighed, "Yes and no. I am next in line to be chief, but I'm not yet. Gordon leads in battles, so he's kind of like a General, which is basically in second command, so it's uncertain who can boss who around. Which means we can only reason with each other, and I'd have more luck convincing the King of Corona to just hand over the crown by just saying, "Hi! Yeah, I like your crown and kingdom. Do you think you could give it to me?"

Varian chuckled in spite of his splitting headache.

Andrew knocked on the door to Clementine's work room. It was answered by a tall, slender woman with dark skin.

"Oh! Hey, Juniper!" Andrew used his hand to slick back his hair a little. His bun had gotten a little rustled. "Have you seen Clementine?"

"She'll be back in a minute. Macy hurt his wrist again." Juniper glanced at Varian. "Man, it looks like whoever had their hands on you beat the shit out of you."

Varian's face went bright red as he looked away. Andrew frowned. "Be more sensitive, June. Plus, the child is present, so tone down on the language."

"I'll speak how I damn well please to whoever and whatever I fu-"

"I'm cutting you off there. That's a word the kid doesn't need in his vocabulary," Andrew muttered.

"What? It's not like Gordon hasn't said it to his face countless times," Juniper grumbled.

"Yeah, but he doesn't need to hear it from you," Andrew retorted.

"Guys, would you two just shut up and kiss? My head is pounding, I can't take the bickering. I'd rather listen Juniper cussing rather then you two talk shit."

"See? You're a bad influence," Andrew acused.

"I like it when he's like that," Juniper smirked.

Before anything else was said, a large man entered the room.

"Hey, Kai. Clementine isn't here," Andrew said.

"Actually, I was looking for you. It's the chief. He wants to speak with you," Kai said to Andrew.

"Oh? Well, I gotta go, but I'll be back later," Andrew began.

"Sure, I guess you can kiss Juniper later," Varian teased.

"Wait, what?" Andrew looked at the boy and shook his head. "Never mind..."

As Andrew left, Juniper raised a brow at Varian. "Really?"

"Pfft! You're both too obvious. No one's fooled by your 'Secret Dates'."

"Wait, those are secret?" Kai inquired. "I thought you two just dated whenever."

Juniper rolled her eyes. "Would you two just freaking shut up?"
