A/N: Thank you for the comments.
"Shouldn't you be bringing me chocolate?" Jennifer asked when she saw Lorne and Sheppard approach empty handed.
"Chocolate?" John asked confused.
"Way less perks to dating you than I thought." Jennifer said, her voice slightly slurred.
"They gave her strong painkillers." Laura explained.
"Why? What happened?" John asked.
"She tried walking. It didn't go so well." Laura summarised.
"Don't need to be here." Jennifer grumbled.
"Well this is probably not the right time for this conversation." Lorne said.
"We'll be back." John said.
"With chocolate?" Jennifer asked.
"Sure." John smiled.
"Shouldn't you stay?" Lorne asked quietly before nodding towards all the eyes on them. He then added louder. "I mean I can do your paperwork for you."
"Well if you insist." John said.
"I'll see you later." Lorne said to Jennifer only to see she was already asleep.
"What was she doing on her feet?" John asked Laura.
"She wanted to get back to work." Laura replied. "So what did you and the Major want with her?"
"Lorne has a novel punishment for Fletcher, but wanted to run it by the doc."
"Sounds ominous." Laura said before handing John a sheet of paper.
"What's this?" He asked.
"The rota."
"Rota?" John asked lost.
"To keep an eye on Jennifer, making sure she rests and doesn't try walking. And seeing you are dating her we thought you'd like some shifts."
"Umm." John said looking awkward.
"The two Rs are already trying to sign up. You really want Jennifer to deal with that when she is recovering?"
"No."
"In that case, I'll leave you to it. I have to get ready for my mission." Laura smiled walking off.

"Morning." John greeted when Jennifer started to wake.
"Colonel?" She asked confused. "Has something happened?"
"No."
"Then why are you here?"
"I'm just that type of caring boyfriend. And I have chocolate croissants for breakfast." He said picking up a plate.
"Thank you?" Jennifer said not sure what to say.
"I mean I know they aren't pure chocolate, but I'm not sure that would be looked on too kindly in here."
"I'm not sure chocolate croissants are looked on too kindly either." Jennifer said.
"Something tells me you don't remember." John said.
"Remember what?" Jennifer asked.
"When we came in last night you kind of demanded chocolate and then complained about the lack of perks you got from dating me."
"I did? I'm so sorry." Jennifer said reddening.
"So you don't want these?" John asked moving the plate away.
"I didn't say that." Jennifer smiled taking one of the croissants.
"So how are you feeling?" John asked.
"Like I should never go off world again." Jennifer said.
"Don't think that is an option for you, but Lorne did come up with an idea."
"Why do I think I won't like this idea?"
"Paranoia?" John said. "Before I tell you what it is, it is completely optional."
"I'm really not going to like this." Jennifer muttered.
"It's a good thing. I think." John said. "But before I start I need to check something with you."
"Sure, what?"
"Do you have a problem with Fletcher? I mean would you have an issue with working with him."
"No. I mean compared to some of your guys he is actually pretty nice."
"We'll come back to that." John said frowning. "Seeing Fletcher took full responsibility and tried to protect his team, Lorne thinks that Fletcher has potential, but he needs training. So he is going to be put through his paces by Ronon. But after that we plan to assign him to you."
"Me?" Jennifer asked.
"When you go off-world he will go with you as your body guard."
"Just him?"
"No, you will have the normal team protection as well."
"And how long do I have my bodyguard for?"
"When there have been twenty five missions without incident Fletcher will go back to leading a team."
"So he is my bodyguard until retirement?"
"Your missions aren't that bad." John said.
"I think all your head injuries have damaged your memory." Jennifer shot back.
"Was that a joke?" John asked.
"More like a clinical assessment." Jennifer smiled.
"So are you okay with the plan?"
"Sure, but it seems a little unfair on Fletcher.." Jennifer replied.
"You are lying injured in the infirmary." John reminded her. "The punishment is completely fair. But if he causes you any problems you tell me or Lorne."
As Jennifer nodded Marie approached them saying, her voice cold. "I need to take some readings. "I need you to leave."
"Right. I'll catch you later." John smiled.
"What was that?" Jennifer asked Marie once John had left.
"What was what?"
"You were kind of cold just now."
"He deserves it." Marie said. "I know you are dating him, but what he did on that planet...well I guess we know why he is a divorcee."
"Maybe you shouldn't listen to rumours." Jennifer said.

"What did she say?" Lorne asked.
"She seemed to think it was a good idea." John replied.
"But you don't?"
"No I do."
"Then why do you look so concerned?"
"Well, I think I am now public enemy number one in the infirmary. Even Marie was cold towards me."
"Well the stories about you aren't great." Lorne said.
"I did nothing." John protested.
"You are probably the only person in the city promoting that story."
"It's not a story, it's the truth. Why won't anyone believe me?"
"Past experience?" Lorne suggested before adding. "Sir."
"Any idea how to fix this?"
"This isn't a situation I have ever found myself in."
"You know as my number two you are meant to be supporting me not avoiding every opportunity to give advice." John pointed out.
"Okay, well you could start acting like a perfect boyfriend towards the doc."
"I have no idea what one of those is." John admitted.
"Neither do I. So you could ask Teyla or Cadman." Lorne suggested.
