Cato and Clove's story

The Hunger Games from Cato and Clove's perspective. Not very original, I know but its my first fanfiction so please read and review! To avoid any confusion, this is a fanfiction about the books. Disclaimer: I don't own The Hunger Games.

9. Chapter 9

Clove

The next morning, I wake up with Cato's arms around me and my prep teams' gasps. Cato steps out of bed and walks past them without a word except to say, "You won't tell anyone, will you?" He says it politely but its clear it's a threat. They nod, terrified and I don't even try to hide my smirk. The Capitol are completely in charge of the Districts, yet these people are absolutely petrified of us. They stumble from the room and I burst out laughing.

When I recover, I dress and walk down to breakfast. The prep teams are there, bright red in the face, and so are Enobaria and Brutus. They don't give me an odd look so I assume the prep teams were threatened enough by Cato's threat not to tell, thankfully. That would've been embarrassing.

Cato sits down next to me and we exchange a look before turning towards the prep teams and grinning. They reel back in fright. We make small talk during breakfast with Enobaria and Brutus and when we stand to leave, Brutus stops us. "You know the plan, right?" He glares at us, as if daring us not to. We nod and walk away towards the training room, our hands only parting as the doors open.

The trainer, Atlanta, explains the rules. I barely listen and neither does Cato, I can tell. I look around at the other tributes, gathered in a tense circle. Most of them look weak and helpless, but there are a few concerns. District 12, obviously. She's small, but she looks strong and not underfed which means most likely she hunts for her family, which means she has some understanding of a weapon. He's muscular, nowhere near Cato, but enough to be a threat. And then finally, there's the boy from 11 who, I'd never admit this to Cato, but he looks to be on a par with Cato. He's definitely a threat, but thankfully it shouldn't be too hard to convince Cato we should ask him to join us.

Atlanta lets us go and I walk straight to the knives section. This should be fun.
