Hi everybody this is Crackheadbeans5678. If you read La Fille Muette and the Wererat You know the new characters Cerise, Gemini, Tony, Francois, and Rafael. This is more background information on them so you can have a slightly better understanding of them...Think Disney Wiki...Anyway here goes nothing
Cerise Linguini Gusteau(nee Monty)- The way I came up with Cerise is that I had to watch Ratatouille again and I had to see what the future child of Linguini and Colette would look like and I had to combine a few of their traits and it's a bit of an oxymoron with her because even though she would look like their child but she actually isn't. She previously came from an abusive home, her father would beat her and her mother, however, her mother was protective of her and tried to keep her safe from her father's rage. On that fateful night she escaped, she now had herself since her protector and mother was killed and she had to face the beast that killed her loved one. Even though she's mute in La Fille Muette and In Between, she isn't mute in the Wererat.
Her muteness represented her trauma and her dependence on her mother. She, like any other child, was scared of her father when he abused her and since then she never found closure until the end of The Wererat and when her mother visited her as a ghost. When Linguini and Colette adopt her after spending a few weeks with her, Cerise knew that everything was going to change and love finally came her way and she became a new person.
Gemini- Now the way I developed Gemini is that I had to make someone that's the opposite of Cerise but has something in common with her. Cerise and Gemini are the best of friends, despite their different personalities. The main example of them being the opposite of each other is their styles. Cerise is much softer and more plain while Gemini is more bold and loud. The thing that they have in common is that they both have a disability, in Gemini's case she's blind in one eye and has to wear sunglasses(see chapter 6 of in between) but she doesn't let a disability stop her because she knows she can still be herself and that's what draws Rafael to her.
Tony- Tony is the love interest of Cerise. When he first met her in 3rd grade(See chapter 2 of In Between), Cerise unknowingly fell for him while Tony loved her when he first saw her. Despite her muteness, they can communicate very well. Even when Cerise told him her story, he would never give up on her as his faith in her will always stay. Cerise always thought that he was very sweet and she would blush every time Tony complimented her. He loved her to the point where he even fought another wererat to protect his love. Overall, he is like a child version of Cerise's mother, he would protect her from any harm, give her the respect she deserves, and give everything he has.
Rafael- He, like Gemini, is a person of color, he is an Indian boy that would have to speak for the rest of the group is unwilling to. Gemini is drawn to him because he agrees with her on certain occasions and he, like Tony, loves Gemini with or without a left eye. He's also drawn to her undeniable confidence and her sweetness and he is a shoulder to lean on if you need him
Francois- he like Tony also had eyes for Cerise, but he wasn't going to be as loyal as Tony. He was more of the suave and smart people in the group and that's why the group relied on Francois when they travel to London to find a cure for Cerise.
Rosaline- She is Cerise's biological mother. She along with her daughter went through abuse through her husband. When she tried to battle her demon, she gets killed. She also plays a role in her daughter's grieve; Cerise thinks about her every day and uses everything that her mother taught her, even taking care of the rats that she passed down to her. She one day visits her child as a way to give her closure from all of the grief and not having to worry about her.
Cerise's Father: He is the abusive father of Cerise. He was the possessive and abusive husband of Rosaline and he would beat her and his own child. According to his wife, they had a few children before cerise but they didn't make it because of his constant beating of her. His death was by his own daughter to avenge her mother and he died on a bridge and he fell in a lake. He too represents Cerise's trauma and His memory of the abusive that he has done to her never gave Cerise a slight peace of mind because anything that triggered his memory, for example, a white cat, a gunshot, or just his death in general can trigger horrible memories for Cerise. However, at the end of The Wererat, She finally lets go of the guilt of his death and her mother's being her fault.
Renee- She is a 4-year-old older twin sister of Auggie. Her name was referenced at Alfredo's mother's name, Renata, but she decides to go by Renee. She like her twin brother are really close with their parents. They are especially close with Cerise as she treats them like a second mother, even though she is their sister. She resembles her mother and has her personality with the exception of her father's hair and eye color. She along with Auggie loves Cerise no matter if she isn't a blood relative.
Auggie- He is the 4-year old younger twin brother of Renee. His name was referenced in his grandfather's name, Auguste. He is close with his parents along with his sister. He is closer to Cerise than his sister but they both equally love her as is. He and his sister both resemble Cerise's childhood that she once lost and they showed her how to be happy, even if she was older than them. He allows Cerise to join in on the fun that he and his sister have. He looks like his father except for his hair and eye color he inherited from Colette.
